Minna Nyugen balanced a child on her hip, and a basket full of vegetables on the other as she walked towards her humble home, when she heard two older women gossiping.
"I've heard that Van went through the door, and that's why he's disappeared, and you?" one woman whispered, her eyes darting back and forth.
"His family must be worried sick, not to mention be ashamed! Who would want their child going through such a dangerous passage?!" the other muttered back.
"Hmmm." Minna set down the basket at the door. "Van, eh? What're you up to, you ol' rascal?"

There she was. Hand on the crystal handle of the mystery door. Many of her friends told her of the odd world that lays beyond that you can never leave.
Ya right. Like this gal was gonna believe those dorks. Well, lets not say dorks- they ARE her friends after all. But she had better things to do then sit around all day watching TV and playing video games. Her parents DID tell her to get exercise outside, anyways.
Oh! Silly me, you don't know who I mean, right? I mean Elvis Presley! No, I'm kidding. Who I really mean is Brianna Wanes, a 16 year old kid being home schooled. Of course she used to go to school, but she was blamed for something she didn't do and was banned from the only school in the area. Now she chats with her old friends online.
A small breeze past by and it ruffled Brianna's shining, silver hair, making it seem to be moonlight. She breathed deeply and closed her eyes while opening the door. She walked in and saw a whole new world, and some... people? Some were, others didn't look like true humans.
She felt something claw at her side lightly and she looked down. A Koala bear! And very cute, too. She cuddled it quickly and picked up.
"Hi, little guy!" Brianna smiled cutely. "Do you have a family around here?"
The Koala seemed to be smiling back. "Yes, I do! YOU!"
Brianna was confused for a moment, but soon realized there were a lot of things here that would be odd, so she continued walking, her new friend curled up in her arms. She looked down at him with a smile, and looked around, trying to see anyone that had come here that she knew of.

Vanyel and Sunda walked in step together out of the marked fight area. The chalk signs would disappear soon, but Van saw fit to add one more. "Vanyel + Sunda Letum fought the victorious battle in this area."
The pair conversed as they walked. "Vanyel, did you hear the rumors?" Sunda asked via telepathy.
"That depends, which ones?" Vanyel rejoined. New rumors were always abound, Just like on Earth, I guess all worlds have some things in common.
"Apparently," Sunda continued as if uninterrupted, "there have been more coming through the door."

GGGGGRRRRRRRRHHHHHH
Brianna clenched her stomach and sat down.
"Hey, what's your name? or do you not have one?" Brianna stared at the creature, awe inspired.
"What do you think is a good name for me?" He looked up at her and then plopped to the ground on his back.
"Hmmm... I know! How about Keke?" Brianna thought it was a hit, Keke thought it was a miss, but he didn't have much control.
"Uh... yeah... sure..." He squeaked, annoyed at the choice.
"So, Keke, do you know where we can get food here? Does it require a special kind of currency?"
"Brianna, I know as much as you do- hardly anything."
Her stomach was killing her, and she hoped she would get help soon...

Adeline saw the young girl sitting on the ground by the Door with a koala-familiar crouched beside her. She looked to be in some sort of discomfort and was holding her stomach tightly.
"Ugh, the rabble." A soft voice sounded from behind her.
"Oh shut'cher beak Thula-love." Adeline whispered back to the white bird "She may be a runt, but unless you can give me a good excuse not to help the kid..." She trailed off giving her familiar a Look.
"She has a marsupial for a familiar."
"Close but no cigar, love. Time to go help the needy." The young woman stood, offering Thula her arm and waiting for the bird to find a comfortable position on her shoulder before moving and confronting the girl.
"S'cuse me miss, but are you alright?"

Vanyel and Sunda walked until they reached where the door was located. He saw two others sitting there and he knew that both were fresh to Terra.
Vanyel walked over and addressed the two, "Hello, my name is Vanyel Letum, this is my partner in crime Sunda." the big cat growled a hello and nodded as Van took a sweeping bow to the girls. "Would you like a tour, coming to a new world like this can be very difficult if you don't know what's going on."

ooc://a runt? she's tall for 16!
Brianna looked at the two people closely, trying to search for traces of hate or treachery, but there was nothing. She held Keke and got up. Nodding, she looked at the boy that looked familiar.
"That would be nice, actually." Then she looked at the girl, also with a twinge of memory. "I'm ok, I just didn't eat before I went through and this little guy might have taken something out of me..." She looked down at Keke and felt a pang of guilt blaming him, and after that, a sting of hunger, forcing her to cringe.
The truth was that she hadn't eaten the whole day, and that was a awhile. She looked back up at the man, a look of pain scratched into her fake smile, making it obvious she wasn't as happy as everyone in this wonderland of weirdos. "I think the first shop should be somewhere we can get food!"

"Of course miss. I completely understand, I remember my own first day here and I can tell you one thing for a fact." he said as Sunda sent him constant information on the girl, "No one here gives a damn about anyone else. I had to fin things out by trial and error."
"She is worried and very mistrustful. There is something troubling her about you and the other's kindness." Sunda told him, "I noticed that for a moment her smile faltered. It was forced the entire time. I shall use the observation and analytical techniques you taught me to see what is bothering her."
((Just so you know, I have taken a course on how to tell lies from the truth. Sunda's observations about her smile being forced is viable. Only some obscenely small number of people can force a smile using all the muscles, most can only force their mouth. Just so I don't get chewed out for impossible observations.))

Finally she realized who the guy was, and she practically fainted. Back when she was in school, Brianna was best friends with this man, and she almost had a crush on him. Keke seemed to cool down as well and he hopped out of her arms and rubbed against him a few times.
"So, where's that food? I'm hungry too, ya know!" Keke looked around trying to see some food, but he didn't, and he sighed.
Brianna forced a weak smile. "I agree with the little cutey. By the way, I'm Brianna Wanes. This is Keke." She didn't want to tell him just yet that she knew him, but she hoped he would remember her.

With a slight nod he gave Sunda permission to continue. It seemed to Vanyel that the girl was familiar to him, like they had crossed paths before.
"Follow me. I can lead you to a good cheap place to eat. We can talk and I can help you ladies get used to this world. There are somethings you must be informed of so that you don't get in trouble. The authority force is strict here and there are traditions to follow so that a duel between familiars can be carried out outside an arena without interference or unnecessary injury to those not involved." Vanyel continued as he turned and began walking down the street.

((OOC: Sorry for my inactivity, work took over for a bit. @Thylassa: And as for the runt comment, I'm sorry, her height was not mentioned or displayed in her profile. Shall we put it down to Adeline's lack of manners?))
"Get used..?" Adeline shook her head as she hurried to keep up withVanyel. "Oh no, I'm not new here. I've been here for almost a year actually. You may've seen me singing for food and money?"
"Seen us singing, Adeline." Thula said, a disgruntled expression on her face. "Might I remind you that the world doesn't revolve around-"
"My swollen, overly-large, fat head. Yes, yes I know." The young woman flapped her hand casually. "Anyway, seeing how you lot've already introduced your esteemed selves, You can call me Adeline, and this overgrown bag of pillow-stuffing is Thula."

"Ah, hello Adeline, and you as well Thula." he said bowing to each in turn to make amends for his rudeness, "I have never seen your performance, of course that may be in part because I am usual stuck in a marked off alley giving some goon a few new holes in their heads to breathe through." He was going through a mental list of what to tell the koala bearing girl. "The authorities and about Tradition. The arenas, combat, sync abilities, the list goes on from there but I recommend you go in that order for now. Currency of course should come after Tradition, don't forget wagers and Contracts to go in with combat." Sunda told him after realizing Van was getting a headache from going over everything.
