Oh dear, it appeared that said mood was about as flighty as she was. Ever changing, ever moving it seemed as though the moment had gone and that rare smile was forever lost. Just as well she had memorised it when she did or she would have been forced into mourning - and she could mourn for a smile, she was rather good at mourning for the most ridiculous of things.
...Probably why she was teased in terms of being a drama queen!
"Ah," he tone became sage and she smiled wistfully as he reverted back to his shell. While taken aback by his rear it hadn't taken her long to recover her composure and in order to honour his wishes she moved away again. He definitely had a much bigger bubble of personal space than she did, but she was beginning to figure out just how big it was - she would just stand on the perimeters. You see, she could be thoughtful when given the chance...
"A pity but I understand," she reassured him, her tone still light as she coiled her tail around her rear leg again and canted her head to the side. "I didn't mean to unsettle you, I just wanted to capture the moment," she elaborated upon her intentions and then gave a small giggle as she drifted around the edges of his little circle until she was on the other side from where she had been sighted.
"But you should really be more verbal for me, a simple 'non' would have been enough to make me realise you know!" Again she giggled and then she almost seemed to nod in acceptance of a silent exchange - that bathe sounded quite nice actually, especially if it warmed up her back.
It was just a little bit of a shame that for all her ways and for all her subtle flirtation she was completely unaware of the affects she had upon him. Unfortunately she had classed him into the 'uninterested' category in terms of her immediate company but into the 'interested' category in terms of seeking her for conversation.
She couldn't complain, she never stopped talking really.

Indeed said stallion was sage, nor like getting close to anyone. That certain boundary was supposed to never get crossed. Nope, nope. As for flirting, he did not flirt...he conversed that was his only form of interest. Such afflictions were pointless in his mind. He paused listening to her but his eyes wandered to the green grass, he could feel the september breeze and scent autumn nearing...
"And why should I be more verbal ma cherie?" he asked in his low, thickened tone. It still had his voice and the monotone talk seemed to have vanished. He glanced to her tail, he always found the unicorn tail fascinating...so odd.
He seemed to have reoccuring ADD moments today. He had watched her move away from him, she had respected his wishes and moved back without hesitance. She tempted him, tempted him to reconsider thoughts made and set to stone. If his wall fell to pieces what would he have left?

His look hadn't gone unnoticed but for once in her life Sparks feigned ignorance and continued to coil and uncoil her tail around her leg. It was a habit she'd never been even to shift from childhood, it wasn't quite a nervous twitch but she always needed to be doing something. If she wasn't chattering then she had to be moving, or bathing, or eating... She wasn't unsettled, just flighty.
If she were to be bogged down and stifled she would be upset and just a shadow of her former self. She would mourn, the world would mourn and then she would hatch another dramatic and over thought plan to run away. There were no guarantees it would succeed of course, which was a pity.
"Well by now you should have noticed how much I talk...if you don't learn to speak up I could miss what you say!" She pointed out enthusiastically, bobbing her head to the side and instantly regretting it as the pain shot along the side. Oi, well she couldn't shift as suddenly at the moment which put a dampener on proceedings but she would endure.
...She just wouldn't do that again for a while.
"And that would be very bad and rude," she continued, offering a light smile at his fleeting attention span. People said she as bad but she had a suspicion he could definitely rival her at this exact moment in time.

His corn flower blue eyes watched her as she spoke and decided against arguing with her. What was the point of arguing, anyways. Rarely did either side change their original opinnions so he left it as is for the moment.
His orbs shifted as he watched her mood shift when her weight did, obviously from the pain. He edged closer to her and inspected to the spot she had flinched at. Ignoring her comments and going straight to what was wrong with her physically. "You know the two leggers could put medicine on your wounds to make them stop itching and heal faster." He recalled looking to his scarred wing which was fading within every day like a lost memory of a child.

Ah yes, humans... She had always known they existed but it was through personal preference alone that she chose to ignore them. They presented a number of problems and she hadn't the patience or desire to deal with them. For one thing, those pale humans near the beaches were always looking towards her in awe - yes she knew she was rather spectacular but there was something else in their unusual eyes. What she sensed when she caught sight of one of them was something much more sinister.
Afterall, they put strange bindings on their own soquili - what would they do to a unicorn?
She'd rather not think about it.
"Mmm, perhaps," she wasn't about to dispute the fact that they could provide her with a certain amount of aid but she wasn't about to take it either. She could be stubborn sometimes but it was the principle of the matter and this was a test, she liked it this way. So it hurt a little, it itched something rotten and it made her feel rather frazzled but all in all...
"But that would defeat the purpose," she pointed out at last, indicating that once again she was on a completely different planet than everyone else. If people didn't know her any better they would have assumed she liked being in pain, "I was struck down for a reason, to heal before I am deemed ready would hinder the lesson...besides," she smiled a little more as he moved closer but said nothing to point this out.
"It isn't bad when I'm distracted!"

He was close enough to her now, that he could have been invading in her 'bubble' but in some way he was concerned for her health and the way she thought of healing herself was very much the same way he did. He hated using herbs and such items hand crafted to make you heal better. Though if it wasn't for that two legger, he could have gotten his wing infected and either lost his wing or died.
He nodded agreeing with her, "I respect your preference..." he was about to go on but was stopped when her last sentence came from her mouth, "Did I hear you correctly when you just implied that I was a...distraction?"

Luck for Ares that Sparkle's personal bubble was generally a public place unless she was depressed. Given that depression for a rather rare thing for the mare, the close proximity of the stallion merely served to make her smile. Perhaps she had been right in assuming that it was best for him to make the moves - if he drew near then she didn't seem like a threat. Whereas should she decide to slip closer it might feel like she was...trapping him?
Wind soquili were strange creatures, they seemed to really like open space.
"Perhaps," her smile grew warmer and she provided him with a small shrug as she contemplated how best to respond. He was by no means unwelcome in her presence, despite his rather cold exterior he did seem to have a sense of humour so...
"But I assure you that you're the good type," she grinned and canted her head to the side just a tad, "At least you're really here!"

It made it easier for him with her personality, though he didn't realize that he had been getting more comfertable around her...it just seemed natural. Almost like it did with him and Halloween but somewhat different. He had watched her son grow up and be a big brother to him.
He did like his space though.
His ears perked forward as he was obviously intrigued with this conversation. And then his mind fumbled, "What do you mean, really here?" his brows knit together contemplating on what the mare could possibly mean.

"Well you see..." Sparkles paused briefly as she considered her options and then sighed. All in all she found no reason to hide the truth but more often than not, people tried to hide it for her. All her 'friends' had made certain to excuse her words as a game and that was perhaps why she was so close to her father - he had encouraged her. Her words were important and her words were true, he never let her hide them.
"I hear things," she confessed with a wry smile, canting her head to the other side as she fixed her eyes on the stallion. It made it so much easier to say when he seemed to relaxed. Sure, there was a risk that he would tense in a heart beat but for now... Well, it just made things easier. If anything this would just be away to see him laugh!
...She was just a little insecure on that front.
"Voices, they tell me things...warn me," she explained after a few more moments and have a shrug, "But for some reason no one else can hear them so you could say I am talking to something that isn't really here, that can't be seen." She mulled this over before releasing a slight chuckle at her own words.
"But you can be seen, so you are really here!"

Ares wasn't going to laugh, that would be extremely rude. He thought about it for a moment, "Do you mean like inner clairvoyance?" he thought for another second. "Maybe that wasn't correct choice of words like just a thought, that something isn't right."
He shrugged, "Some call it a conscience. I'm starting to realize I have one..." he looked to the grass. The horrible deeds he had done in his past. But every sinner has a future and every saint has a past right?
He smiled softly, almost subtle. "Yes I am here." He replied standing by her side.

It would have been rude but it was something she was accustomed to. She often found it to be mildly entertaining when they teased her and yet each time she was aware of why. The voices, the spirits...They'd always told her that not everyone was capable of opening their ears. Just because they couldn't hear them, didn't mean that she was silly because she could!
"I don't know what it is," she confessed with a delicate smile, shaking her mane as her neck began to itch beneath the warm braids. There were times when her hair could be troublesome and the ticklish strands against her wounds were one of them.
"Not a conscience but I DO have one of those," she reassured him. She knew what a conscience was and these voices were a little different, they were voices of reason but they were also exceptionally vague. Her conscience seemed to lack a great deal of tact most of the time so it couldn't be that.
She really was an odd ball!
"Everyone has one," she grinned lightly as he dropped his gaze to the grass, "Including soquili who have teeny tiny rain clouds storming above their ears!" She teased.

He shrugged his shoulders slightly. "Everyone might have one, but if you ignore it long enough it fades from your ears. I've done morbid things in my past and I know the feeling of lonely." he replied solemly.
His cool eyes almost showed empathy, his ears perked up at her last comment. "Are you insisting that I have a rain storm over my head too ma cherie? Your just laying it on me today. no?" he nosed her cheek as he fluttered his wings as he had the sudden earge to walk around or move...or something....he didn't know.

Had she been any other female she probably would have tensed or blushed furiously at the sudden demonstration of affection. It wasn't much, just a tender touch in response to her jest but it was a far cry from what he had been not so long ago. The more she waited and the more patient she was, the more open and comfortable he seemed to become.
Patience really was a virtue.
"I'm afraid I am," Sparkles agreed in a sage fashion as he began to shift about again, arching a brow just a little at how unsettled he really seemed to be. She supposed it really wasn't just her who needed to pace around after all, standing was alright but she had her limits...
"On both accounts, but everyone has their own little cloud. Yours just seems to be letting the sunshine peak through today," she pointed out teasingly and began to walk once more, her strides long yet slow as she made her way towards the lakes that would otherwise provide her with 'solace' - worst came to worse she would use a tree as a back scratcher.
"As for your past...it's exactly that, you shouldn't dwell on it or you'll get headaches."

His jaw dropped slightly as he watched her yet he followed her like a little lost puppy. The look in his eye was almost unmistakeable now. She knew where she was going but why is that? "I've tried to forget it...I really have..." he couldn't take it anymore.
"I thought you said the water made you itch your wounds?" he replied as he raced in front of her and stood in her way to the destination. He looked down to her with those baby blues that stood out like a sore thumb. He looked to her light colored eyes and the face that surrounded it, it was as if it were embedded in his memory. Not like Halloween, Anuyi or even Pandora. From Midori to Cynara none of them seemed to compare. It really was quite odd. Peculiar, yet it intrigued him.

"I didn't say to forget it, I just said not to dwell on it," Sparkles offered, her tone kind as she observed the stallion. Now that her path had been blocked she made no effort to pass him and instead, she addressed the situation that had been presented to her. All in all, whether he liked it or not it seemed some of the more weak barriers were beginning to crumble...There were still some there, but others were disappearing and fading away.
"They are two different things, if you forget the past then you will be forever plagued by lessons you have yet to learn. But to dwell on the past is unwise because in doing so you cannot see the wood for the trees," she was echoing her father's words, in reference to a time when she had nearly lost her life as a foal. "In short...Think about things too much and you'll probably miss what's obvious, so just don't think about them and the answer will come when you're ready."
Nevertheless, as he brought the 'water' issue up again as well as her previous complaints about it she did seem to be considering his words. Pausing, she looked skywards as though partaking in an internal monologue before giving the slightest of nods. She really was an odd ball.
"You do indeed have a point," she agreed in a sage fashion again, her expression solemn as she 'mulled' over his words. "But, that just means you'll have to give them a scratch if they get too bad!" She teased. Perhaps a little too forward but there was no use hiding behind a veil, it just wasn't her.
"Either that or a tree gets the job - really, a bath would do my hair a world of good."
