it is only you who decides whether to conform or not. it is you and you alone who gives power to other people to dictate whether you are "accepted".
not everyone is going to like you. no matter what you do, some people just aren't going to like you. don't lose any sleep over it, it's just a fact of life. it doesn't have to be something you did, you just probably rub some people the wrong way or they just aren't enticed by your personality, just like how you just don't like people for various reasons. it's a matter of taste.
be yourself without worry of rejection (i admit that "be yourself" is quite corny, but whatever...).
don't give those people the power to make you feel bad about who you are. blast kingdom hearts music in your car with the windows rolled down. break out your ds for a quick game of elite beat agents in public, wear that awesome bleach t-shirt you were so excited to wear when you bought it but are now too embarrased to be seen in it in public, and dont be afraid to download that latest chapter of naruto to the library computer lab and read it in public for all to see. after all, last weeks cliffhanger was a doozie...
