"Up to you. I'm gonna jump." Althalus grinned daringly, and leapt of the wall, barely stumbling, before turning round and spreading his hands. "You can climb though, if you want. Stealth'll show you the way down."
He looked up at the closest tree, and then nodded, pointing up. "And if we go up that one, you'll be able to see Oblivion still, is that okay?"
Beside Walter, just out of reach, the small lizard-daemon lazily faded out of the brickwork, blinking open gilttering black eyes.
Tell Walter if he can see where I stand he can put his hands for turning to climb.....

Walter nodded, chewing on his bottom lip as he turned and started to climb down the wall. It was harder than it looked, he thought as he twisted to see below him for the next foot hole. He strained when he saw it, his toe brushing the hole before his fingers started to slip.

Althalus wavered for a moment, before coming to stand underneath Walter, fingers at his foot to grab his heel and place it more securely against the wall. Stealth wriggled her way down, shifting into a much brighter, visible red, standing on the vertical surface next to the next handhold.
"Easy does it, Walter. You okay there?"

"Yeah," Walter said, taking a deep breath and starting to climb with Althie's help. "Just short," he added, irritably.

Althalus grinned.
"Being tall isn't all it's cracked up to be, you know. When you're little you can get into all sorts of places you can't otherwise." He let go of Walter and picked Stealth up off the wall, the lizard-daemon wriggling and running back up to his shoulder.
"We'll go up this tree, okay? And you'll even be able to see Oblivion when we get up there, it's not so far away from her. She can catch the apples; she won't eat them, right?"

"Nope! If it was metal she would, but not apples," Walter said, following Althie's advice. "An' I wanna be taller. I can't reach the kitchen sink without a step stool."

Althalus rolled his eyes, but smiled, even as he almost scampered up the tree, eyes darting to find the handholds, fingers feeling for the familiarity of climbing.
He looked back over his shoulder.
"So can you see those bits I held?" He stopped at the lowest branch, balancing on it easily and looking down. "Or do you want a boost up to this branch here?"
