At a nudge from his mate Remus nodded. There was a worried, perplexed look in his eyes. Ayako clearly wanted the kits, but from Saix's frown the wizard wondered at the truth of his words. Or at least the intent behind them.
If they had not meant for it to happen... well there were ways to protect against pregnancy. Of course he would have hoped to meet those his kits were choosing as mates before a moment like this. He glanced at Nari. No... seemed she had not known their daughter had a romantic relationship either. She did however seem to recognize the clothes the blue haired male wore better than Remus did.
He sighed. "We're up for hearing about it." Remus mentally prepared himself for the explanation as best he could. He knew this day would come, when one of their kits would become a parent themselves. It did not make it any easier.
Although it would be if... his gaze flicked from his daughter to the father of her kits. They did love each other... didn't they? Cold lead formed in the pit of his stomach at the possibility that they may not. Of anything he could have wished for his children, love and happiness would be that wished them most of all. Watching Liliana struggle with her dilemma had been hard enough, but at least he knew she was happy now where ever she was venturing with her slow-growing mate. Was he ready for whatever Ayako and this cold-eyed male had to tell them?
He had better be.

From Saix's previous little speech when she had stormed up to his house, Ayako knew he wouldn't what to have anything to do with his children. He said he didn't want to care for them, nor take responsibility as a father. Ayako, however, hadn't agreed to his terms, although she had dragged him along. She would, of course, tell the kits who their father was (And bring them to his house), but whether they wanted to acknowledge him was up to them.
Ayako liked Saix, but it was obvious that the Nobody didn't. However, after she had found out about the pregnancy, it had been pushed back in a dark corner of her mind; she had more important things to think of now.
"Well..." The kitsusagi started, tails flicking slowly in the air. "I stayed over at his house once, and Kitsumi, a friend of mine and Saix's...housemate, made us some tea. Unfortunately, it turned up to be alcohol instead."

He gave a small nod to Lupin as he spoke. "I suppose this story will fill in any questions you have in your head." Or at least, he was hoping it would. He wanted to get this over with, though who knew how Ayako's parents would react, and how long this would all take. Considering the facts, that Ayako's parents seemed like the kind type who worried for their children, and the story as to -how- and -why- Ayako was pregnant...Saix was expecting that it'd take quite a while.
Watching Ayako from the corner of his eye as she spoke, he nodded. "Kitsumi hadn't done it intentionally, I'm sure - she isn't the brightest bulb in the bunch." He added, with a frown. "And unfortunately, neither of noticed anything wrong with the said 'tea' until...today, really, after we spoke to Kitsumi again."
How they hadn't noticed any trace of alcohol in the 'tea' was beyond him. Maybe, considering it was Kitsumi who made it, the two noticed the odd taste, but dismissed it. It wouldn't be unusual for Kitsumi to make something odd tasting.

His front paws slipped out from under him, and his head hit the ground with a resounding thud. When Remus found his voice it came out cracking. "D..drunk?"
His eyes were filled with an ache that mirrored that inside him. Oh, he could understand this part played by this Kitsumi they spoke of. After all, though his 'sister' Chroma was intelligent of her own right she still managed to hold on to such notions as eggs being delivered by a bunny. And Miaka was naive beyond words. So someone accidentally spiking tea with alcohol or substituting it with wine unintentionally was not an unbelieveable improbability.
The lead in his heart made it feel like it was holding him back. "You stayed over at his home... so you are friends, yes?" There was a note of pleading in his haggard face. The pain, the worry... feelings he had not shown this intently since before finding the love of Nari & Ember, long before kits. Only traces were seen since then and now -the first full moon after each litter of kits hatched. "You care... at least enough? The alcohol only lowered inhibitions?"
He was practically rambling, grasping at straws that his daughter would be happy. How could this have happened?
And perhaps the worst feeling of all, how the pregnancy being an accident, unintentional, unsought lay a gray cloud over what should be only a joyous announcement.

Ayako didn't blame Kitsumi. She never really did, for as Saix said, she hadn't done it intentionally. She watched her parents with a wary eye, turmoil building up inside her. She was scared of how they would react...very scared indeed.
And she had a valid reason.
Turquoise eyes widening in horror as they watched her father being overwhelmed by this and his head thudded to the floor. "Dad..." She choked, staring down at the ground. She knew Remus was terribly worried for her, and she felt guilty for causing his, and her mother's pain.
She took another deep breath and then looked up again, forcing herself to look in her father's eyes. "Well...kind of." She hedged. Her father was already feeling so much pain; she could feel it emanating from him. She couldn't bear to tell him they were more like...acquaintances.

The male's frown widened as he held back a cringe as Lupin's head hit the ground. Well. Maybe he shouldn't have stated everything so bluntly before, but there was no going back now.
Watching the other Kitsusagi go through rather obvious worry, and fear for his daughter's happiness, the heart-lacking male couldn't help but feel some pity. It was a feeling he was rather unused to, but he had never played such a large part in an incident like this before. Never had he had to face the pain of a parent for their child before.
Glancing at Ayako at the question, he nodded slowly. "Ayako was Kitsumi's friend, and we were acquianted through her." He said, carefully.
It wasn't a lie. It just wasn't the total truth either.

Remus closed his eyes softly. Not in blame, unless blaming himself somehow for this counted. "You ... were not." He said, as if vocalizing it would somehow make it easier to bear. It did not. His mate too looked concerned, but nuzzled him reasuringly as she had upon letting Remus know he was loved.
It seemed to help. His eyes opened. "I... think I see." The wizard did not bother to raise his head, brow-ridge rising and falling alternately over his eyes, still in confusion. "So will you be together now, growing together for yourselves and your kits?"

Ayako bit her lip sadly. Although Saix had tried his best; she appreciated it greatly, but her father had still seen past it. At his forlorn expression, Ayako's heart hurt badly. Family was the nearest to her heart and anything to do with family...affected her badly. This could be seen from her fear of wolves; it was because of seeing Aiden's transformation as a kit.
"Well..." Ayako blew her fringe away from her eyes. "We haven't exactly discussed that yet." Sure, Saix had mentioned that he would not be taking responsibility, but she hadn't agreed.

Well, that didn't work, and it was most obvious that Ayako's father had seen through their words. Watching him carefully, Saix's gaze flickered from one parent to the other. He knew it'd be hard to take in, he just hadn't been sure how hard until now.
Saix was silent at the question, and glanced elsewhere for a moment. He had said he didn't want any responsibility of the kits. Perhaps he'd let them visit from time to time, but other than that, nothing. But honestly, how could he say that after having already seen how they took the original news? Instead, he reminaed silent, muzzle clamped shut.

Remus now stared at the cloaked kitstu in his silence. It said so much, in what Saix did not say. That riled the wizard, made him want to attack the male for the hurt Saix would be causing his little girl. For the hurt he would be causing his grandkits...
But somehow this was all his fault. Perhaps he could have taught Ayako to better know what she was drinking? Or that trust was good but you still had to be careful? Or... or...
He looked at his daughter, an ache within his eyes. She probably knew all that. Still... Kits made without love. "Your kits will not be without love. They will always be welcome by your mother & I. But I would hope they would have their parents' love, and that someday..." He looked between the pair with tender sadness. "Someday you will share love too."

From the anger she could feel from her father at Saix's silence, Ayako wished that she had informed the Nobody beforehand. There were a lot of things an angry father could do with a wand. She still cared for him, but what was to happen between them wasn't important now.
The kitsusagi nodded back mutedly with equal pain in her eyes. "I will love them father." And she would. They were after all, not only Saix's children, but hers as well. Someday? She almost felt a sarcastic laugh bubble up in her throat. He has no heart. How is that to happen?

Feeling as if the atmosphere tensed up, Saix's gaze drifted from Lupin, to Nari, and then to Ayako. He turned his attention back to Lupin, staring at him with rather calm, and yet fierce eyes. It was his silent way of apologizing, but as well as insisting that it wasn't all his fault. Apologies never had come easy for Saix - why would it be different now?
The Kitsusagi was silent, before frowning. "I suppose I can do what I can, however love is out of the question. It's an emotion from the heart, and something I don't possess."

No heart? That seemed quite impossible. And yet... Nari's steadying paw on his made Remus think twice. She knew something about this having no heart business? Did it have something to do with his niece Bryna calling herself a Nobody (an odd thing, as she was clearly somebody)?
But Remus had not yet met his brother-in-law Xigbar. He only knew the young and them very little. Mostly Bryna, and that was because she trained her telekinetics with Peter & would come to visit Hemi.
Again the wizard's eyes fell shut. "I don't understand... but thank you for being honest. I suppose it is too much for this old kitsu to hope you will try for friends at least? I am certain you have knowledge that would be beneficial for your kits to learn. Like I said, they will not want for love if we can help it, but it would be good for them to know their sire."
Yes... he spoke mainly to Saix now. He trusted how his daughter would be. The male was the unknown. Then he looked to Ayako. "Daughter, where will you birth the eggs?" The look in his eyes signified that he wished to remind her that the kits would be more than welcome both here and at her mother's house. Her mother smiled softly to show her agreement.

Ayako herself had been skeptical at first when Saix mentioned that he was heartless. To her, one couldn't be alive without a heart! How could he be living, yet not have one of the vital organs? But through her studies of magic and people she had met, Ayako had learnt to expect the unexpected. Worlds kitsus came from; those who had past lives, often had weirdest stuff others couldn't understand. This, was one of them.
"I'm...not sure." The kitsu shifted nervously, feeling the slight bulge in her stomach. But I hope it's soon. She added mentally.

"It's rather hard to explain what exactly I am." He agreed, with a mutter, "However there are quite a few of us around here. A few of my former teammates, I suppose for a lack of a better word, are about as well. I've heard Xigbar has become a father." Then, he snorted. "If you're really curious to know, I'm willing to tell you whenever you feel like it."
Again, he hesitated, before eying Ayako again. "Though friendship is really still something I don't possess, I suppose I can try my best. Such things usually don't come easily to me, but..." He trailed off.
"Just choose a spot that you feel is well suited. Quiet, obviously, and somewhere you can relax."
