Gino and Liam will definately be back soon.
Keep in mind this is the first original animation we've seen gaia do, at least in this fomat. They're getting better at it. Plus, do you know how long and expensive the process of making advanced computer animation it? I'd say they're doing very well, all things considered.
As to Edmund, he knows how Gambino is, so it's only natural that he give a little chuckle at the way his old friend's mind works. I could also see him being Ian's uncle, but in that same vain I also think that they were getting at Mrs Gambino being Ian's mom...from Gambino being so bitter about having him around and because I think that she and the woman in Ian's flashbacks are definately the same person, just in differant places in her life. It would also explain why Ian and Gino look so much alike (or at least I think they do, it took me a few weeks to tell them apart when I first signed on here... sweatdrop ).

Junimaia Edmund does seem to have an important connection to Ian. I wanna see Ian call him Uncle Eddie! heart I think Uncle Eddie would get upset.
I hate the fact this plot is soo confusing. At least this time
it has to do with a creature associated with Halloween a bit.
Last year's aliens were a bit out the box.
Mrs. Gambino being the mother is bit out there though. That would mean that she either cheated on Gambino or Ian is older than him. Remember Ian has a brother too. So that screws up the family tree. It would mean someone was unfaithful...

Well, there's a relation of some kind between Ian and the Gambinos, even if it is simply that found in the lab.
Really, if you look back on all of the past mangas, Ian and Gambino are featured fairly heavily throughout. The very first couple of mangas were about Ian, Sasha, and Gino. Unless this is being made up as they go, there's a connection.

I recently came up with a theory to explain the possiblility that Gino and Ian/Louie share a mother...
(For the sake of simplicity, we'll call this woman a nice, neutral "Jane")
Assuming Ian and Louie are older than Gino, which they do appear to be...
Jane marries Vladimir Von Helsen and has two boys, who are named Damian and Louie. Perhaps she's unhappy there, perhaps something goes wrong, or perhaps she just falls out of love with the vampire, but whatever happens, Jane finds herself in love with Johnny Gambino. I don't care about the circumstances right now...any number of scenarios could be possible.
At any rate, Jane leaves Vladimir for Gambino, who quite probably knows her background but loves her anyhow. They have a child--Gino--and Jane begins to worry for her first two boys, who she had to leave with Vladimir for whatever reason. Possibly because she left in a hurry...
Jane goes back to get her sons and bring them to safety, but Vladimir finds out. We know how that ends--he shoots her ("She left us...she was very naughty"), Louie is caught by Zhivago, and Damian is saved by a sword-weilding Edmund (Point of interest: 'Edmund' means 'protector') who might have been sent by Gambino to find and protect Jane.
Edmund comes back with Ian and the news of Jane's death. Gambino is enraged, demanding that Edmund get Ian out of his sight, but Edmund reminds Gambino that Jane was protecting this boy, that she wanted him safe, well, and alive.
"We owe it to her, Johnny."
This same logic convinces Gambino to spare Louie's life as well, as Louie is also her son.
