We don't always have band camp for my school bands, but every year there is a state music camp - a kind of selective thing were you have to apply, and you audition and get put in different ensembles for the week.
It's sooo fun. All the positives of ordinary band camp, except everyone is really amazing on their instrument.
...so many memories.
And a hell of a lot of hook-ups. xp

Our weather was great. Never went above 80! hehehehe! We had some fun times. our section leader made us run, and 1/4 of the way done he said to forget it and go have free time. Our field was beautiful that week, but it was gone when we were done. Then when we got home our practice field was gone thanks to the Football players. The talent show was cool... the chicken...yes... And then, some of the guys did an improv rap about one of the drum majors...and some guy sang the song about the eggs...and the song about breaking the rules...band camp was breaking the rules... It was so fun..

We've never had a Band Camp that was an actual "camp"... It's Band Day Camp on the parking lot. Black asphalt. Brand new. HHHHOT! And I went from a freshman marcher last year (though i was a sophomore) to a section leader this year! ...because last year's band Camp rocked, and this year's sucked. *sigh* Now I know why we use the two weeks of Camp to do fundies! Because if we start right on drill, WE SUCK! Hope next year's camp goes better.

Band Camp was absolutely amazing! Our band has been through the most improvement and bonding this year than we have in a long time. Coming into that as a freshman was amazing. Thursday was the best! Its our freshman-senior day. They get to dress us up and make us do lots of wacky things. I was a fairy and got to skip around the band at attention. Then we had a group of about 10 freshman who had to run after a fellow freshman everytime someone yelled "CHARGE!". That night was awesome! We were all terrified. Supposedly we were going to have to run a real long distance for our iniciation but we didn't. The seniors were in all black and they lined us up and walked us out to a neat little area secluded by trees and by the time we got back we were all balling. We got back and everyone was in a circle singing our alma mater. Everyone was crying by the end of the night. I love the senior class.
The rest of band camp was so much fun. I was in a daze the whole time partly from sleep depervation and partly from amazement that it was real and I was actually part of this amazing family FINALLY!

"this one time, at band camp..." blaugh sorry, I had to. Anyway, we just have this two-week long thing before school starts, and then 2hrs after school until the season's over...this year was a short season. crying One day it rained really hard, though, and the woodwinds practiced inside while the brass marched the drill, and then we switched. I actually borrowed this girl's jacket that I thought was friend's, but she said it wasn't hers sweatdrop ...anyway, after a while we just went under the shed and we were told not to inform the bd.. Then there was the sectionals... xp

My friend couldn't march freshman year cuz he sucked. had problems sophomore year, but marched. Junior year (this year) he met me and he was the equivalent of an above average freshman...
At the parade we were in at band camp, our DrillMasters melted!
Quotes: "DREW! GET OFF THE FIELD!" ~Director
my friend got a nickname from the pileup that happened...

My first and only band camp experience (till next year) was alright except the food was crap, the water smelled like eggs, and the kool-aid was fake. And on the secont to last day a mouse came into the drumline cabin and turned on a stereo that had eminem's second cd and turned on "kill you." This made the biggest senior jump on a bench that was in the center of our room and when the mouse went to the basement part of the cabin the senior threw threw the first aid top at it.

We always get a new guard instructor every year. We convince her to let us practice our flags inside, and we don't even go outside except for drill downs. DEATH TO DRILL DOWNS! stressed

lmao. band camp: tow to three weeks before school we spend at the school on the field and in the band hall learning EVERYTHING.
I'm pit section leader...or was, as I'll graduate in June. Haha. No marching to learn. Just all the slackers in the band are thrown in my section, which is also crash cmbals in the stands. And they're dumb. I got stuck with like 5 fish a sophomore this year. stare Ugh.
But camp was fun. Then, there were only three of us. 3nodding And it shoulda stayed that way. But they all don't care.
Our UIL competition, my school had 30 years in a row of 1st division ratings as a military style marching band. My junior year we switched to corps/core (however it's spelled, lol) style, and we got another 1. My senior year we got a 2. crying and i blame it all on the director. He didn't teach any of the lower classmen our motto: Dignity, Honor, and Pride. And he didnt let the seinors (who are the only one's with an ounce of it left) either. crying my band sucks..... crying
