Nagual shivered one final time and looked to the sky in the direction Tlocatl had left. He was really gone, not from her life but from this moment. Ashling was safe, and so was she. "I'm... I'm alright...." The mare took a deep breath, and with that breath released the fear. When the fear was gone, all that was left was the memory - but the memory was strong.
"He scared me that time." She frowned, "I am so sorry, Ashling. I knew he was following me - I didn't know you were here."
The mare paused, her eyes bright with unshed tears. "I never wanted to put you in danger, Ashling...." Nagual's bottom lip quivered. "I.... um.... You're my best friend."
She looked down and saw the burn. Her voice choked up, "Oh, Ashling!"

-His natural grin looked almost silly on his maw, as he attempted softly to dissipate any feelings of fear that remained in his friend. It was a sight he didn't find to his liking at all, the subtle shivers, the weighted breath, and it only made him stand taller in his 'new found' height.-
"I was the one who came to see you." -He offered mildly, trying to alleve the unwarrented guilt that touched her words. And as the emotion caught in her throat once more, he stepped closer again, nuzzling his check against hers, as it trying to will the tears away before they'd even come.-
"It's alright now. We're both fine, and he's gone."
-Silly Ashling, placid, naive thing. The trials and tribulations of this world were something new to the sheltered soquili. Fights, terror, illness, he'd not been subjected to any of it before.. and yet... his best of friends... There was one feeling however that was not new to him, and as he watched her now it grew brighter and stronger. More than anything in the world he wanted to be near Nagual. To see her happy. To play and frolick with her, lazing away the days gorging on berries until the two could no longer move.
Never again did he want to see her how she appeared to him now. Never again did he want to let her go, in fear of weeks and months passing again before he was blessed with her presence. Ashling's muzzle lifting to whisper soft innocent words near her ear, as if afraid the words were too fragile the travel the distance themselves.- "If you stay with me, I'll keep him from coming back."

Nagual leaned her cheek to Ashling as he willed away her tears that did not fall. She felt as if her heart would burst. He came looking for her, not just hanging around, but for her!
And as he continued, the mare was sure it really would just explode. A nothing-but-happy grin spread on her face. "I would, you know - stay with you..." Nagual purred. "Tlocatl would find me, he always does.... but we have each other right now."
Nagual shifted so that she was nibbling comfortable on the stallion's mane. "Yup, just us..... and..." the mare looked over his shoulder at the treeline nearby, "I know where we can get some berries!"

-A soft snort of triumph escaped him at her words and the subsequent lifting of her mood. What a difference just a few short moments made from fear and worry, Nagual now looked almost as if she were glowing.
Perhaps he would come back, as she said, but Ashling didn't want to dwell on the worries of that. Now that his friend was happy once more, he was intent on keeping it that way. Wings fluttering mildly, useless on this larger form, he was reminded of the fact that soon enough he'd have to shrink down once more, but for now, for a little longer he'd stay as he was. Certainly he enjoyed the soft sensation that her teeth made tugging at the strands of indigo mane.
His stomach answered her first, as the sound of his favorite treat touched his ear, and a sheepish grin followed.- "Lead the way then! I think we deserve a whole bush full of them today."
