The mere fact that Naina was looking at him was starting to feed Amaroq's ego by the second. His neck arched unconsiously, he too dipped his head to drink his fill before laying down in a shallow spot of the river. "I agree," he said, relishing the feel of cool flowing water over skin that had felt disgustingly dirty moments before. Her question took him slightly by surprise, although it shouldn't have. It was an inevitable question. "Well...my parents lead a herd, tucked back in the woods a ways. Not really a herd in the most traditional sense though...more like we have each other's back, and meet up now and then. Which suits me fine," he added, grinning impishly. "I'm pretty sure I'd have a few dents otherwise."

"You could say that we all have our fair share of dents." She said smiling, and batting her eyelashes again.
She snorted, but tilted her head to the water again.
As she came back up, she smiled.
"So, do you have a lovely little thing who calls you hers?"
She smiled.

"Yeah, but I'd rather keep my face intact I think. I kind of need it for eating, among other things." Amaroq snorted as the questions became abruptly more direct, a faint rattling of breath through nostrils. "Hah, not likely. Unless you're referring to my mother, but I'd jump off a cliff before I talked about her like that. Grew up with everyone in the herd, so they're not really much of an option. We know too much about that dirty laundry, so to speak."

She finally came to the realization that her questions were just getting more and more rude.
"I apologize for my questions."
She sighed, looking at her reflection in the water.
Mara would kill her for being so rude.
She glanced back at the stallion.

Amaroq's eyes widened slightly. Making this mare uncomfortable was the last thing he wanted to do. Already he was starting to feel an urge to step between her and such unpleasant emotions. "Oh no," he put in hastily. "It's fine, really. I was just a little surprised, but it was a good question." He took a breath. "I guess it'd be okay for me to ask the same of you?"

She smiled, giving a kind eye.
"No one understands me enough to want to be with me."
She said smiling. Truth was, she hadnt really been looking. But lately, she had been so lonely, and she looked at Amaroq, and wanted to change.
It was so fast, it was so abrupt.. But she couldnt help it.
"But you dont have to worry about asking me anything. If you want to ask it, then do so. Asking helps others learn."
She looked at the grass blushing.

"Oh..." Amaroq didn't know quite what to say for a moment. A part of him was glad that there was no other stallion, who would undoubtedly beat the tar out of him. But another part was sad, for misunderstanding was something he could sympathize with. His dam didn't understand him, didn't realize how much like her he was. She saw simply arrogance where there shouldn't be, and did her best to erase it. "Yeah, it does," he said finally. "Same here." The offer was in simple, vague, awkward words, but it was there. If she asked, he'd answer if he could.

Naina smiled, nodding. She looked at him, and then back at the water.
"So, you are a very handsome stallion, Mr. Amaroq. I should very much like it, if we.. well.."
She wasnt sure how to ask him on a date. She was normally the one asked.. She couldnt say, Id like to court you, that was the male line.. But she looked nervous. What was teh female line?

Awkward.
Amaroq was silent for a long moment, trying to figure out just what Naina meant. It didn't -sound- like she was just asking for a quick roll or something...and he had to admit, he wanted to know her better. Well, he might as well say so, then. "I think I'd like that...to get to know you better, that is. You seem as interesting as you are pretty, so I think you could measure up." He gave a little wink to show that he was joking, sort of.

She smiled, giving a face of mock surprise.
"Maybe I might just measure up! But you never know, maybe I might.. Fail at life."
She grinned, standing and splashing him with a bit of water from the pond with a unicorn hoof that didnt match her non-horned head.
"Well, ya know, you still have to measure up."

"I'm not worried," Amaroq quipped as he rose, laughing. "I've never failed yet, and I don't think you would either. Even if you did, it's hardly failing at life. Lots of stallions out there, you know." Which was the reason he was flattered and pleased that Naina was interested in him. Non-hostile female attention was a treat he didn't want to soon pass up.

Naina smiled, shaking her head and tossing her curls and braids about. She glanced at him with amethyst eyes, and raised her head high, like a snob, but she was joking.
"Of course, but if Im not going to fail at life, then I should be with only the most adorable Stallion."
She looked at him and winked.

This time it was Amaroq fighting not to blush. Be a man, be a man, be a man... He was losing the battle, unfortunately. Red tinged his coal cheeks, darkening them further. "Well, I'm glad you think so. Couldn't have a girl that didn't appreciate me, after all." He smirked a little, icy eyes mirthful.

She couldnt help it. The fact that he was blushing made her smile, and she licked his reddened cheek.
"Who couldnt appreciate you?"
She asked, flicking him in the rump with her tail as she stood beside him.
"Surely no one could take you for granted."
Now she was teasing. She couldnt help it, he was just too cute.
[Now I want a pic of them together XD]

Woah.
Amaroq blushed even harder, completely losing the battle to retain even a scrap of imagined masculinity. This was an unexpected, but extremely pleasant turn of events. ...He hoped it kept getting better like this. "More don't than you would think," he managed to get out. "But I'm glad you do."
