SinfulGuillotine Hello, all. I'm new. Received an invite and thought it looked interesting, although I'm not totally sure how well I belong... I don't usually wear any kind of head cover, except for purely fashion reasons. Usually a beret or fedora because...well, those are just cool. I do tend to dress pretty modestly, I guess. I have some scars on my arms and torso that lead to awkward questions if people see them, so I usually wear long sleeves. I also sunburn way too easily, so exposing as little skin as possible is in my best interest. So, another person gets sunburn eaisly. My family genes aren't in my best interest...I can't wear a regular swimsuit anyone, just a rashguard. My shoulders...last time, they turned a color darker than blood. Evil genes. Even if I didn't sunburn, there is that other skin condition...my family line of genes is bad. I suspect a lot of marring cousins long ago and all that. Luckly, the skin condition I was talking about hasn't hit me yet.

SinfulGuillotine PoppyDadswell what does a fedora look like? PictureSimilar to the hat on my avi, actually, though I just kind of realised that. Very Humphrey Bogart. I was totally born in the wrong decade. i wish men would go back to wearing hats.theres something were classy about it. I wish they would too. It completes an outfit and since it takes an extra bit of trouble to do, it's a little more civilized, or another symbol of being civil. Well, fashions, like Earth's climate, go in cycles...hopefully they will be back soon. stare

Luckly, the skin condition I was talking about hasn't hit me yet. I'm just really pale. And I don't tan or freckle. I just burn. I don't even go swimming, unless it's at night (which is more fun anyway). Luckily, I live in a place that tends to stay fairly cool, so wearing long sleeves and trousers isn't too uncomfortable. Even if it gets warm, or if I visit a warmer place, I've found that white, light cotton button-up shirts seem to actually keep me a little cooler. Or maybe I'm just more comfortable because I can't feel myself frying. In any case, it works. Plus, I just think long sleeves look better about 90% of the time. And don't even get me started on how unflattering shorts are. I wouldn't wear them even if I didn't turn the general colour of a lobster in the sun.

Well, fashions, like Earth's climate, go in cycles...hopefully they will be back soon. stare Fedoras actually are sort of coming back into style, I've noticed. Except that it seems to be more fashionable for women to wear them than men. I just miss old-fashioned styles. Like in the 20's. Such great fashion trends. So classy. And it managed to be sexy without being skanky, which is the best kind of sexy. Anyone can just expose a lot of skin. There's no art to that kind of sex appeal, which to me, makes it less appealing. Where does the fun come in later if you've already seen it all while meeting them on the street? Anyway. Hats. I should wear them more often. I usually wear them when I wake up late and don't have enough time to properly tame my hair. Though my friends have a tendency to take my hats and insist on wearing them for the rest of the day, which is annoying. They need to get their own hats. sad i have a black triby and while in boarding school a certain teacher would take my hat off me and run around wearing it! redface i find most people want to play with my hat and often they just wreck it.one girl had cigarette ashes on it! and another guy with a big head (literally) whee wore it and now its too big for me!another guy was inspired by me to get one of his own though biggrin .

I don't cover my hair but I do cover the rest of my body. I wear jeans or pants all the time but I find it hard to find clothes that covers things up because everything nowadays is low cut, tight, and sleeveless practically. So I get tanks or sleeveless (or half sleeve) stuff and get a jacket to cover my arms and stuff.

Try doing a Google search for one or more of these phrases or images: mantilla chapel cap prayer cap prayer covering prayer veil veiling There are a surprising variety of styles, colors, shapes. I've seen them in opaque fabrics, very sheer fabrics, lace, and on and on.

I came to be a Christian on my own and after a lot of soul-searching.. I've always covered my head in the winter with scarves for warmth, and then loosely in the summer with cotton or silk, to shield me from the sun. I always thought it looked pretty and was comfortable- and then when I started going to Church I felt like even if I'm not going to cover all the time that I should at least cover when I'm at Church or a religious site. 3nodding
