She shook her head. She didn't mind going high, not really. She liked the feeling of air rushing against her, and her dress was long and full enough that it would present a problem. She would know. She tested them before going out to play, you know. She looked back and nodded. She was ready! Let's play!

"Okay! Here we go." Stepping back further, Ignacio dragged her higher. He almost grunted with the effort. His friend wasn't heavy at all but it was an awkward angle as he tried to pull her higher and higher. Finally, he stopped and held her in place. "One, two, three... Go!" With a laugh, he released her.

If Devakanya was able to make noise, she would have squealed with delight. Instead, she just grinned, kicking her legs a little as the swing rushed forward to its peak. She pressed her ears to her head, but she wasn't annoyed. She just didn't like the loud noise wind made as it rushed past her. And then she started her swing back and she twisted, trying to make sure she wasn't going to hit Iggy.

She need not have feared. As quick on his feet as he was with his tongue, Ignacio had already skittered out of the way. His arm extended out to the side and, with a grunt, he caught and pushed her as she swung back into his range. "Kick!" he suggested. "You'l go really, really high."

Devi wasn't sure if she wanted to go really high, but she trust Ignacio enough to follow his advice. Once the swing started to go up again, she kicked out. And sure enough, with each kick on each rise, she got a little higher and higher. If she had been able, she might have given a little shout every now and then. It was scary alright, but it was fun.
All the sudden, as Devi pushed forward again, her shoe came flying off! Eyes widening in shock, she immediately put her feet down to drag on the ground. Well, foot. It wouldn't do to drag a sock on the ground.

Seeing her attempts to stop, Ignacio slipped back behind her and grabbed at the chains. She bumped back into him and he stumbled a bit but he soon planted his feet more firmly. With his help, she came to a stop in no time. Before she could move to leave, though, he skipped around in front of her and held up his hands. "I'll get it," he assured her. He pointed downwards. "You'll get your sock dirty."
Then he darted off to find the dainty little item. Within minutes, he returned and held it up for her view. "It flew really far."

Devi jumped as she bumped into the boy, afraid she might knock him down into the dirt. She need not have worried, Iggy was a boy. Plus, he knew how to stop swings even when someone was on them. She stood, ready to go fetch her flying shoe when the boy bounced in front of her, assuring her he'd fetch her shoe.
She blushed and smiled, sitting back down, carefully keeping her sock out of the dust. She watched him, ears flicking forward as she shouted. Wow! That was far! She held her hand up and waved, letting him now she saw.

Trotting back with a huge, white grin on his face, Iggy laughed. "I bet that was the farthest ever," he said. "I don't know if it was because you were going so fast or because it's so little. 'Cause it is." He held up the shoe again. "You've got little feet. Kinda like Cinderella. Tess read me a story about that."
As if that gave him an idea, he knelt at her dangling feet and held out the unoccupied hand. "The prince had to try the shoe on all the girls, see, because he didn't know who Cinderella was. I guess she had really, really little feet or something or the shoe was magic because it only fit her and he had to put it on her." He raised his eyebrows, looking up expectantly. "Gimme your foot," he ordered, "and I'll put it back on... Or try, anyway. Your shoe looks more complicated than mine."
