"I do," Jett replied to the older boy's rather official introduction, glancing at the Spearow with careful eyes. Sorry, Aerosmith, but I don't think you'd be the best choice for this battle, he thought as he calmly let his first Pokeball fly. Athena burst out, landing before her trainer.
"Hypnosis!" Jett called, deciding that he would start off the battle today. The owl was appraising the Tiny Bird Pokemon before the command came, but she instantly leapt into action, her large eyes beginning to glow.
"Hoot!" she shrieked, releasing a few sets of rings that headed for the opposing bird, hopefully successful in putting it to sleep so she could nail a few good attacks.

“Did you just call me a…” Scarlet stared disbelievingly at Bird Keeper Abe. The disbelief turned to rage, and the rage slowly turned to what appeared to be neutral indifference. “Terumi, we’ll take them up on their offer. Hypnosis.”
While Terumi found the lack of exclamation in his trainer’s voice weird, he didn’t find it weird enough to snap him out of his semi-psychosis. His eyes took on a violet tint, a series of rings darting toward the sitting Natu.

"You don't want to go home? Why? Granted, I guess my life has been rather easy, but still, people should still want to visit their home." Sam watched Devlin for a while before answering Miharu's question. She wasn't too keen on battling again, but she wasn't sure if Miharu wanted to battle more, and she didn't want to offend her. "I'm not sure...I kinda hope not," she said quietly. "I think we've had enough for one day. I bet Miles wouldn't mind a turn out though. When we reach New Bark Town I guess."

'Oh so he finally figured it out?' Roark thought with a grin. This made things a bit harder for him but the game wasn't over yet! "Use Protect again!" He shouted as he watched the battle through is protective goggles. Shieldon was doing better then he thought he would, especially with all these water attacks getting thrown at it. He winced slightly as the protective bubble surrounded his pokemon but not totally in time.
Shieldon cried out a bit as the water hit him but did his bet to stay on his feet. Turning around so he was facing the Bibarel he glared at the other pokemon from behind his protective green bubble. That water really hurt! ((sorry for my lack of Robin post. In a bit of a rush and I don't have the time to write hers out. Also sorry this is pretty lame.))

Abe watched as his opponent got madder and madder until his anger seemed to collapse in on itself, creating nothing but a rather frightening calm. Hypnosis, crap! the bird keeper thought, and swiftly ordered the Little Bird Pokemon to show those two the real grace of bird Pokemon.
Natu wasn't the best to show the grace of a flier, considering he couldn't even fly. But with impressive speed, he darted forward and summoned up the energy to hop over the rings of fatigue. The Flying/Psychic-type fell back to the plank before the Gastly, right when his trainer called for a perfectly-timed Night Shade.
Natu's image seemed to grow larger as the rest of the arena blackened out. At least, that must've been how Terumi could see it. But he shouldn't have much to worry about if it hit him; the damage was equal to the bird's level, and that wasn't very high...

Terumi grimaced when the little Natu avoided his hypnosis, and got straight out ticked when it nailed him with its expanding phantom image, Nightshade. Terumi’s anger took the form of a spectral nail that hovered about his head. But just before it could stab into his body…
“No. Lick.” Scarlet stared at the Gas Pokemon. Under certain circumstances, Terumi's curse would be fine. But on an opponent on an equal or lower level, an opponent he could hit? No.
The subtle, not yell-y tone was enough to knock Terumi out of his hate spiral. He spared a quick glance at his trainer, who stood silently, eyes serious. Completely focused on the battle. It was sort of creepy, incompetence sort of reversed.
Terumi’s spectral nail instantly fizzled out, and, like gaseous meteor, he blasted toward Natu. He aimed at enveloping all four feet of his terrifying body over the Little Bird. Once he caught it inside, he’d drag his oozing, spectral tongue over its delicious, psychic face.

Natu's eyes widened as he was engulfed by the phantom, and he felt a shiver running through him as that Lick attack hit strong. He let out a weak cry.
"Crap!" The redhead was getting calmer and calmer for someone who seemed so fiery, and that was only unnerving Abe more. "Teleport, Natu! Get outta there!" Sure enough, the Gastly would find his body soon to be empty as the saliva-soaked bird returned to the safety of the plank, gazing at Terumi fearfully.
"Let's give him your best Leer!" Natu closed his eyes, willed away his fear if only for a moment, and sent an intense glare towards the Gas Pokemon.

“Hrm. Teleport. We should recruit someone who can pull a trick like that.” Scarlet scanned the field, searching out the Natu’s new location, only to find it safely resting on a plank, utterly terrified, but conscious and battle ready.
Terumi would really have to fix that. The gastly spun toward the Natu, just in time to see the glare it shot off at him. He slid back, surprised at the sudden tenacity the little bird showed, surprised enough that his defenses dropped.
“Counter it with Hypnosis.”
Terumi’s eyes turned violet again, multiple rings of psychic energy shooting toward the Natu, hopefully putting it in a deep sleep.

The water is warm for such a cold day. The boy in the mask refers to the air gauge. It is getting low. He looks to his watch to find it has been two hours since the young girl with orange hair attempted to attack him. She should be gone now.
Very slowly the boy with the mask rises from the water. He looks around and finds nobody there. He does notice the pokeball he threw is gone, and his boat has been taken. That fool of a girl must have gone down stream to find me. He thinks.
Rising out of the water and analyzing the situation he was not ready for what happens next. Out of nowhere a sharp claw grabs him and throws him in the air. He doesn't even have time to react; the world just seemed to move on it's own. Laichi runs up and flips into the air to step directly on the boy's stomach. The boy falls with Laichi on top of him. With a thud and a small crack the boy coughs up what air he took from the breathing apparatus.
"You really thought we would give up on finding you! You must have muck for brains. My name is Laichi Ningyo, and this is Zii. I don't care about what you stole or how hard it is for me to get it back. You tried to capture me! Unlike pokemon, that hurts us humans! I'm going to knock your bidoof looking feebas swimming butt into next year!"

Abe called out for another dodge, but it was apparent he had picked among the least graceful of the bird Pokemon. Able to do nothing but hop, Natu tried to dodge, but a mixture of his fear and usual battle fatigue weighed him down somewhat, and the rings hit home. He was soon resting peacefully on the wooden plank, oblivious of how badly he was about to get beaten.
"Use Peck!" Abe cried in anger, arms flailing about. "Night Shade! Something! Wake up!" But Natu merely offered a tired little sigh and remained in his slumber for a few more turns.

“Good job, Terumi. Follow it up with lick.”
Terumi grinned, and with the same determination as his last assault, he swooped down on the Natu, dragging his drooling tongue across the Little Bird’s face with a rather disturbing slurp. And he found himself rather enjoying the taste of psychic types.
“Keep at it until it wakes up or faints. Just don’t eat it. Please don’t eat it.”
As Terumi cackled to no one in particular and launched toward the Natu for a second assault, Scarlet looked over at Jett to see how he was fairing. With Athena as his choice, he’d be on about even ground with Falkner, at least in theory. “… You’d better win, Jett.”

Mag returned the hand shake. “That was a good match. I haven’t had one that intense in quite a while. For a Coordinator you sure now how to battle. ‘Course your Pikachu seems to be pretty adept as well.” Moti said as he glanced at the mouse resting in the Blonde girls arms.
“The Pokemon Center would be great.” He responded as the two began to walk back toward what Mag assumed to be main city. “So, how are you feeling about the contest tonight? I’ve never been to one before but I hear they’re pretty fun.” The orange haired man trailed as the two made their way out of the more wooded areas into someplace more urban.

Abe felt his confidence falling like a lightning-struck bird as the phantom began to lick his poor, prone Natu. He felt so violated. "Wake up!" he continued to shout, like an irritating sentient alarm clock. But the Flying/Psychic-type would never open his eyes.
After a few Licks, those eyes opened and the faint breathing of the Little Bird Pokemon abruptly ceased. And then a black aura surrounded the bird before it pulsated, enlargening the image right as Terumi would normally try to give him a good lick. The Night Shade, while still capable of doing the same damage, seemed much more powerful if only for the anger behind Natu's glare as he attacked. Abe's lips slowly curled into a smile and his eyes grew sharper, his resolve strong.
"Let's finish this," he said decisively, hoping that the next few blows would be the last. He swiftly glanced over to the battle between Falkner and the other trainer, watching the Hoothoot duke it out with a Spearow. Falkner...! Show him what it means to be a real bird Pokemon trainer!

Kasiya looked up slowly as Keegan reentered the room, Flannery by his side. The gym leader looked a little nervous, but that was easy to understand. After all, the last time Flannery and Mike had seen each other had been at Slateport, and that had not been a good day. Kasiya gulped and stood up, finally looking down at her red palm with a sigh. "It's not as bad as it looks," she said, shrugging, but she somehow figured that Sasha wouldn't leave it at that. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Keegan head off to the arena, though she resisted the urge to follow him, figuring that he probably wanted a bit of time to himself before they headed off for the Magma base, and she sighed, glancing back over her shoulder at Mike as he'd jumped to his feet now that Flannery had come out of her office.
As much as she didn't want to leave, she knew it was probably best to give the two some space, and she leaned her head against Sasha's shoulder as they walked. The heat inside the gym wasn't really bothering her all that much this time around, though the last time she'd been here, she'd battled Flannery for a Heat Badge and would obviously feel even warmer with her adrenaline pumping. Now that she thought of it, her battle here was the last gym match she'd had. When this is over, I'm going to take on more gyms, she thought.
=-=-=-=-= Flannery resisted the urge to duck back behind Keegan and hide as Mike jumped up from his position on the floor, his movements sudden and almost ghoulish. The singed and frayed cloak he wore only added to his appearance, and when he pushed back the hood, it was impossible for her not to flinch. Nothing about him looked normal, from the wacky hack-job of his hair to the bruises and cuts decorating his face, most specifically the gash on his forehead. It seemed that the only thing about him that even looked remotely familiar was his green eyes, but even that was only fleeting. He looked very tense, and as she watched Kasiya, Sasha, and even Keegan all leave the room to give her and Mike some space, she felt a sudden and overwhelming wave of panic rush over her. She'd seen the news; she knew of his fiery escape from the hospital in Saffron, and for a moment she feared for her safety. He wouldn't hurt me, would he? she thought biting her lower lip. "Fire and death?" she repeated, her voice a little shaky. "That sounds, uh, scary."
=-=-=-=-= Jake sighed as most of Bibarel's Water Gun splashed harmlessly against Shieldon's Protect barrier, but the fact that Roark had been so quick to protect the Pokemon's back was more than enough proof that they were on the right track. "Go for it again, Bibarel!" he shouted. "Hit 'em hard with your Water Gun!"
The Beaver Pokemon slapped her tail against the hard ground, still standing strong against the punishing Sandstorm. Once again she filled up her cheeks with water, carefully blasting it at her rock-and-steel clad opponent's back. Seriously, she could do this all day!
=-=-=-=-= Flame Wheel, Mai thought, watching as the Monferno shot forward in a fiery blaze. She wasn't quite sure how strong the little guy was, but she'd learned quickly that Siren couldn't take physical hits very well. but they had ways of dealing with that. The Misdreavus didn't seem to worried, and she wore a shy little smile as her target drew nearer. "Hold your ground, and counter with Confuse Ray," she said quietly, folding her arms across her chest.
Siren nodded, and braced herself, crying out slightly when Genki's flaming body slammed into hers. Even though she was mostly intangible, it still hurt quite a bit, as the heat being given off by the Monferno was incredible. She recovered from the hit quickly and opened her eyes, allowing a daunting cry to escape her mouth as the pearls around her neck lit up brightly, casting an eerie glow that would hopefully confuse the Playful Pokemon.

"It's no mere symbolism," Mike said, reaching into his pocket. "When I was in Mt. Chimney a few days past, I was in the process of capturing a Torkoal when a bad step caused me to go tumbling down the inside of the volcano. My body was dashed against the rocks. I remember my eyes darkening for the last time." He pulled out the Moltres feather. "But, apparently," he chuckled lightly. "It was not my time yet. I was brought back to life by Moltres. He said I had a-ha ha-task to do. Redemption, he said. At first, I was more than content to lie there, my existence sprayed against the insides of the mountain, but then I realized something. I was brought back to fix everything and that's what I'm going to do." Mike looked at the gleaming feather and then at Flannery. He smiled at her uncertain eyes. "You don't believe me, do you?" he laughed. "You think I've completely lost my mind. I understand. After all you've seen and heard, why wouldn't you?" Mike raised a naked hand up and looked at it. "Legendary Pokemon, ha! They are nothing but children's books." He looked again at the redheaded Gym Leader. "I promise you, Flannery. I mean every word." Flames began to wrap around his hand, and soon the boy cradled a small fireball in his palm. "Horrid, isn't it?"
