LykeOmg11 I play flute and piccolo for Concert....Piccolos are so hard to tune. crying I like gave up on tuning it. now i just roll the head back and forth so that it will be close enough to the actual note.

WD828 I'm a flute and I love it. We have a lot of flutes in my band,but not as much as last year. I'm second flute, I really like it. I also play the piccolo! I'm the only one in my band. Does anyone else play it? I play second flute, and piccolo too!~ Im not the only one, they're 5 second flautists and i guess everyone can play the flute. I think im the only flute who can play sax tho, cause 4 of us play piano, all of us a percussion. and Finaly Me and Trev are the only males.

Yay flutes!!!!
So let's see... I've been playing for eight years {started in 1st grade sweatdrop } and I also play piccolo now.
I'm a freshman playing in a freshman band {'cuz I wasn't allowed to audition for higher... stare Grrr...}. There are no specific chairs, but I've pretty much been elected section leader by all the other flute players. There are eleven of us in band. Not a horribly big number, but not the best either.
I'm also part of a prep-orchestra of the Peninsula Youth Orchestra {PYA}. I'm 4th chair in that.
So, intro over with and on to chattingness.senshomaru I think im the only flute who can play sax tho, cause 4 of us play piano, all of us a percussion.
Anyways, I read some of the earlier posts and saw that some people said there were a lot of Asians in their section. Half of the flute section in my band is Asian, including me! xp
And the thing about boys playing flutes: Some of the most amazing flute players I know are guys. Even the best flautists in the world are men. Playing the flute means just that. There is no reference whatsoever to whether you're gay or not. People who say such things are silly.
BTW, has anyone every heard or played "Poem" by Griffes?

xGreenxAngelx Kytesc Okay, first things first, not all guys who play flute are gay. That's a stereotype. Hell, a lot of the top floutists out there are men soooo....please drop them stereotypes please. We used to have a guy flute at our school last year. Then people that didn't even know him started rumors that he was gay and whatnot, so he quit. Our director was really pissed... First off, a lot of the gay guys I know a pretty awesome. Second, who cares if a guy can play the flute?! My band's also got two guys who play the clarinet and another that plays the oboe. And usually only girls play them in our school. No one says s**t to them, but when a guy plays the flute, here come the accusations! stare People suck... i feel sorry for him...im glad no one started rumors about me! (or my other friend who plays flute but he has a gf!)

Carry_Me_2_The_End omg finally a place with flute people!!!!! Haha, heck yes! I spent a couple minutes in the marching forum, and then I got bored... because there was a major scarcity of flutes. ^^ Anyway, marching season's over now, so it's on to concert season! I'm 2nd chair in my school's symphonic band, and that's pretty exciting (considering I was 5th last year! Woop! biggrin )! What pieces are you guys playing? We're playing a piece called "Vesuvius" - holy crap, it's such an awesome song! And "First Suite in E-flat". You can go onto this one website called www.manhattanbeachmusic.com, and then click on Free MP3's, and then look up "Vesuvius" to listen to it. It's an awesome piece - very fun. ^^ Anyway, enough of mah ranting! Send me a PM sometime, fluties! biggrin

Some people need to be shoved in a bass drum and rolled down a hill. stare why not stick them in a room full of evil band directors (only the evil ones) and give them an insrtrument, tell them to play and let the Evil directors give them push ups b/c they arent tuned! no thats to harsh..OH WELL!

Heart of the dark flame fullyalive0 iRamune fullyalive0 ultimate_charizard Omg! actual flute players!!!! In my band there are six of us and half of them are snobby preps i know and i hate that! GOOD GREIF! see they are all gossiping and then the band drama and then it just gets on my nerves sometimes...i will listen to what the drama is and find a solution but never tell them so i just watch them mess up their lives, its not nice to do that though! the majority of our flute's are seniors TT^TT but we have like .... ALOT of flutes. and then there's Mr.Waller (band teach) and Mr.Parr (chorus teach who's class is conveniently next door) who can most likly go up in a stand-up comedy for band peeps like us... just last year we were practicing NOEL for the winter concert and Mr.Waller makes a joke just as Mr.Parr is walking in.... and mr.parr replies to the joke makig a new one it went like this "nooooooel nooooooooel! noel noel... there is no water cause we have no well..." THAYS HILARIOUSE! our director cant remember anything! he was ready to cuss but he said "GET YOUR INSERT CUSS WORD HERE OVER HERE!" it was funny! okayt.. out band director had us playign this REALLY heard march for our concert march and we played it PERFECT the first time... and he was all like " What the he..how the fu... did y'all do that???" Because last year it took us ALL year to get a march that was MUCH easier to even sound good... we only have THREE flutes omg!!one of them is sooo snobby sometimes i feel like slapping her,she gets sooo annoying!!buy im first chair yay!!
