Sam stood alone for a moment when Miharu went into the Pokemon Center, and Jasper went pedaling off to who knows where. She finally snapped out of her worry-induced trance, and went to the Center. Sam was a little ashamed she hadn't thought of Mori, after all it was Star who had taken her out, but Sam did not want to face Jett or Scarlet. She was paranoid that the two Trainers would think she had tricked them into a battle that was far out of their league. She knew this was ridiculous, but she couldn't help feeling a knot of anxiety as she snuck up behind Miharu.

"Hi," she mumbled to her. "I'm sorry. I didn't think about Mori. And I didn't think about how strong Scarlet and Jett might be before I sent out Star." She bit her tongue, then removed Devlin's Pokeball from her pack. She released the little Murkrow. He was actually very calming to her, perching on her arm as she stroked his head. She sighed, trying to relax and be happy. She had won, why shouldn't she be happy?

The moment of silence before Jett’s answer made Scarlet nervous. After all, it would suck if he had a travelling buddy for all of ten minutes before he totally screwed up. But then came his friend’s response.

As Nurse Joy took up Cindy and Terumi, Scarlet grinned at his friend. “Yeah. Next up’s Falkner! With your skill, you shouldn’t have any trouble attaining absolute victory!”

He was cool with one friend, but he had two more to check on. Terumi looked like he had more than enough fun stabbing himself with ghost nails, but Cindy was probably far from happy, and that’s what scared him most.

So, as Nurse Joy handed back the pokemon she’d healed, Scarlet, with a bit of apprehension, released a scowling Quilava, then got out of line. Cindy stared up at her trainer as he kneeled down in front of her.

“… So that was sort of my fault. Really didn’t see that coming. But we totally know what we’ll be dealing with soon, and we agreed that that fact alone would be worth the risk of challenging everyone we came across, right?”

Without a second’s hesitation, Cindy nodded, patting Scarlet’s knee. They came to that decision the day they decided to head out, and she wasn’t dropping it. With that, she looked up at Jett.

“Looks like we’re ready when you are.”

Miharu looked over her shoulder at Sam, and smiled, still feeling a little upset with herself. "It's okay," she said, giving a small nod. "Mori will be just fine, and you really can't tell how strong a trainer is just by looking at them." She glanced over at the two boys as they spoke quietly between themselves, and watched as Scarlet checked on his Pokemon. They seemed to be alright, save for their pride, and Miharu felt another stab of guilt shoot through her. She sighed and gave her Ponyta's PokeBall to the nurse, offering her thanks as the smiling, pink-haired woman took it over to the healing machine. It's not my fault, Miharu told herself as she waited, lightly tapping her fingers on the counter. It's not like we jumped into that battle knowing we were gonna win, unless you were a Psychic or something.

She thanked the nurse a second time and kissed Mori's PokeBall before she clicked it back into place on her belt. She turned back to Sam, deciding it best to slap on a smile, and nodded to her friend. "Let's go, New Bark Town awaits us," she said, eagerly leading the way out of the center and towards Route 31 and their next adventure.

“Try to dodge!” Mag responded as their opponent came flying quickly towards them. Sunfire grimaced as he attempted to move his legs, but this turn, it seemed that they would not respond due to his paralysis and all the poor Pokemon could do was watch as the yellow mouse came crashing into him. He rolled rather harshly on the ground but during the roll it seemed his legs had found their connections once again and he managed to shakily stand up.

“Well, I think we’ll call it at that.” Mag said after a moment, deciding that it wouldn’t be worth the damage to have Sunfire keep going. He had messed up this fight, forgetting one of his most useful moves, Wish. Had he been using it regularly, the fight could have ended much differently. “Sunfire, if you’d take care of your health a little bit though.” Mag said as he came over to his Flareon and gave him a good pat on the head. Flareon closed his eyes and soon a golden light gathered around him and then shot up into the sky. Floating for a minute or so as an ethereal star before coming back down in gentle waves that would restore a good portion of Sunfire's health.

“So now what, Ryka?” Mag asked recalling Sunfire so he could get further rest.

"Well lets get this battle started! Luffy use your Fake Out!"

"Fake Out? Stream use Quick Attack try to attack first!"

It was a battle of speed between who could land the attack first. Luffy's Fake Out attack wouldn't work if Stream attacked first and Stream would be in trouble if Luffy hit first. The two agile pokemon took off towards each other, a determined look on Streams face and a huge grin on Luffy's as the two clashed right in the center.

The two trainers watched as the two separated from each other not sure who had landed first. The answer to that question came very soon though as the Floatzel seemed to freeze where it was as it tried to move again.

"Great job Luffy lets hit them with your Rock Smash!" Robin grinned as she gave Luffy a thumbs up. Her friends never let her down and she did her best to never let them down either, after all thats what teamwork was.

The Ambipom nodded and jumping up he smashed both tail hands down on top of the water pokemon's head. The other pokemon crashed down to the ground looking a lot more damaged then if Luffy had just hit him with a regular Rock Smash attack.

"Technician? There is no way it could do that much damage without it." Joe muttered as he watched his friend pick himself up. Technician was not a good news for him, especially on a pokemon like Ambipom who had a lot of weak moves that would now be very dangerous, that Fake Out earlier must have hurt a lot more then Stream had let on. "Stream use Agility! I don't want you to be hit like that again unless you have to!"

"Luffy use your Sand Attack!"

The Ambipom grabbed some sand and threw it at the Floatzel just as the pokemon started to glow. The sand wouldn't touch the other pokemon though as it dashed away a jet of water propelling it to greater speeds.

~~~~~~
'Water Gun again? Well thats probably the most effective move he has. Though he is going to have to think out of the box if he expects to win with just one move!' Roark thought to himself. "Charge right though that Water Gun and use your Tackle again!" The sand from the sandstorm should soften the blow of the Water Gun, also if they hit from the front it would shield his pokemon a bit more then if hit from behind.
Growling somewhat Shieldon charged forward ignoring the pain of the water as it blasted his front. He was like one of those football players he had seen on the tv in the break room of the mine.
"Good work Stream! Attack him with your Aqua Jet!"
"Luffy hit them back with your Swift!"
With its boosted speed the Floatzel was halfway across the impromptu arena by the time Luffy's tail was even halfway up. The Sea Weasel pokemon smashed into Luffy just as the stars left the Ambipoms tail.
An idea seemed to come to Joe who quickly shouted. "Don't move Stream!" This was going to hurt his pokemon but hopefully it would also hurt the Ambipom as well.
Joe's idea seemed to be a good one as the auto-homing Swift attack shot up into the air before doing a 180 and headed back down to the wrestling pokemon. The two pokemon let out a loud cry as Luffy's powerful Swift attack slammed into both of them equally. The small explosion left a small crater in the ground as the two of them picked themselves up.
Both pokemon were looking pretty roughed up, the Floatzel a bit more though, it was hard to come back from a successful Fake Out round but Stream and Joe were certainly doing a good job with that. The break didn't last very long as the grin was back on Luffy's face as he adjusted Hat and the Floatzel got back into a fighting stance. Neither of these hard headed pokemon were going down easily.
"Luffy hit them with your Double Hit!" Robin didn't want an attack like Swift again where they both ended up getting hit like that.
"Ice Fang Stream!"
Despite their injuries the two pokemon didn't hesitate for even a second. They took off towards each other ready for the next exchange of blows and maybe the end of this battle. The two pokemon clashed hard a little closer to Robin's side then the center as the swift Floatzel covered ground a little faster right now. The water pokemon's frozen jaws clamped down on Luffy's arm just as Luffy swung one of his tail hands around and hit the other pokemon hard on the head. The Ambipom could feel the chill of the Ice Fang running through him and he grit his teeth as he brought his other tail around to punch the other hard in the side. That blow seemed to shake the other pokemon somewhat as his jaws loosened its hold and it stumbled back somewhat. Both pokemon were still on their feet but they probably wouldn't stay that way for much longer.
Sam smiled in return, though it felt a little forced. She would just press on, and hope for the best. She kissed the top of Devlin's head, the bird calming her. He had grown so much, he couldn't be called a baby anymore, but Sam would always call Devlin her baby. Devlin cooed happily as they left the Pokemon Center, excited to be out of his Pokeball just to feel the fresh breeze. He took off from Sam's arm, flying just above Sam and Miharu's heads.
"So, Miharu, we're going to Cherrygrove City next, huh? I looked at the map, its right before New Bark Town. Isn't that where you live?" Sam asked, watching Devlin carefully.
Jett returned the grin and slipped out of line while Scarlet checked up on Cindy. Geez, what a bond... like me and River... he thought, and then he hurried over to a less crowded space to release Aerosmith and Athena.
The Beautifly in question gazed blankly at his trainer, grunting out a single, "Fly." The look in his eyes seemed to grow sharper and sharper, and the Butterfly Pokemon recalled himself a moment later. Jett blinked, deciding that things would be best if he left the Bug/Flying-type alone for now.
Athena was not as scarily calm as her companion. She cast a quick glare to the exiting Sam and Miharu and then glared up to Jett. "Hoot," she said gruffly, and then glared over to the gym from the windows.
"Yeah," Jett said, nodding. "We'll redeem ourselves there. This is where we break the losing streak, right?" The Owl Pokemon gave an affirmative nod and gladly hopped back into her Pokeball.
"Okay, Scarlet," Jett said, returning to his friend before he began to head for the door. His fists clenched at his sides and his expression quickly shifted from apologetic to determined. "Let's go." He headed out of the Center, almost ready to tune his friend out or viciously attack him if he spotted another trainer.
"Luffy use Return!"
"Stream use Return!"
Both trainers shouted for the use of the same move at the same time. They exchanged a surprised look for a moment before they felt the warmth of their bond wash over them. Unable to keep the smile from her face Robin remembered all the good times she had with her friend and felt the bond the two of them shared. She didn't even seen the exchange of blows between the two pokemon.
"Ambipom and Floatzel are no longer able to battle! Trainer Joe wins!"
That certainly snapped Robin out of her warm daze. There in the middle of the battlefield was Luffy and the Floatzel knocked out on the ground. It should have ended in a tie right? No wait resting tiredly at Joe's side was his Luxio. Oh thats why she lost. Not feeling bad for her loss at all Robin laughed as she headed over and scooped Luffy up into her arms and headed over to Joe her hand out in congratulations. "Great job! You beat me fair and square! Hope you don't think I went easy on you."
Looking up at the older girl Joe laughed and happily shook her hand. "No you really did not go easy on me! Thank you for the real battle and for taking me seriously."
"All right then that was a good battle. Robin go get your pokemon healed and head back here right away." Tony ordered the girl who nodded and ran off. "Good job winning that battle kid. You have a lot of talent kid and if people don't take you seriously you should get some gym badges, then people won't underestimate you."
Looking a bit thoughtful at his advice Joe nodded after a moment. "That sounds like a good idea, besides it will be fun to earn some gym badges. Thanks for reffing the battle. I need to get going though, tell Robin's thanks again!" Waving goodbye Joe headed off his tired Luxio keeping pace with him.
When Robin returned Luffy happy at her side they gave Tony a big grin before Robin frowned slightly. "Sorry I lost. I did my best though."
"That you did girl! You didn't let up for a moment and thats all that counts. Sometimes people will be stronger then you, losing doesn't mean the end of the world, it just means you need to train harder." Tony Tony laughed as he clapped Robin on her back before steering her towards her pokemon who were waiting eagerly to see their trainer again. "This lot has been working hard while you were away. Though I do have to say I was surprised when I came back and your little Yanma was replaced by this monster here." Tony patted the large Yanmega, mindful of the spikes that decorated him now.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 26, 2010 1:49 pm
"Yeah Raz really surprised me." Robin grinned as she commented on her once cute and now really tough looking Yanmega. "Still he saved me and Jake from that Machamp earlier! He is really strong now!" Raz who was happy that he was strong was glad that Robin was happy with him even though his change was a lot bigger then her other pokemons had been. "So what are you are we doing now?" Robin asked not sure what her Master wanted her to do now.
"Well Ampersand and Luffy have worked very hard on that obstacle course over there." Tony grinned as he pointed to the large obstacle course.
It certainly was large and full of plenty of things that Robin was sure she would never be able to get over. "How did you get this set up so fast." Robin muttered not sure if she could complete the course.
Tony gave her an annoyed look. "Robin is that doubt I hear in your voice? You can do anything if you set your mind to it and try hard enough. What would your super heroes say about your attitude."
Oh geez he was right! What would they say if she was just giving up over something as small as an obstacle course? They fought a whole lot of people who were stronger then them and they never gave up no matter how hard it was! A determined look came over Robin's face as she straightened up. "Your right! I am going to beat that obstacle course!"
"Thats the spirit. Run four laps and then meet me at the start. I am going to brief your team all right." Tony barked with a grin on his face at Robin. The redhead saluted before taking off. "All right you guys lets head over to the start." Tony muttered as he headed over to the start of the track Robin's team of pokemon following him, though Slowpoke was pretty far behind them. "All right then, this is a team course. Each of you will be stationed at different parts of the course and when Robin completes one of them you will join her in completing the course. All of you must cross the finish line for it to be done." Tony looked over the crew to make sure they were all listening to them. Seeing that most of Robin's crew was well behaved, to a point, they were listening to him. "All right, Black*Star since you need the most training you are going to start with Robin. Brook you will be after the rope course, Razputin when she reaches the top of the wall, Luffy you will be there after the swamp, and Slowpoke meet her up at the target range. You all must cross the finish line together." Tony barked out before dismissing them all to their post. It was then that he looked down and spotted the sleepy Ace who looked upset at being left out. "Ace don't look so down. You have been busy all day and your going to be even more busy tonight. I need you rested up and ready for tonight, take a nap for now."
It was then that Robin came back to Tony panting and out of breath. Still she looked eager and smiled brightly at Tony. "How did I do?" She managed to gasp. Ok so she wasn't in the best of shape but that would change if Tony had any say in that.
"You did good, next time it will be five laps though." Tony gave her a grin before directing her to the start where Black*Star was bouncing at the start and ready to go.
"3...2...1 Get going Robin!" Tony called as he watched Robin take off with Black*Star right by her side. The first part of the course was running about 100 meters until they reached the rope part. About a foot and a half from the ground there was a web of ropes that Robin was going to have to crawl under. Dropping down she and Black*Star shared a grin as they started to climb trough military style.
It was a lot harder then it looked like it was going to be. The ground was rough and seemed to have gravel instead of dirt covering the bottom. Ignoring the scrapes and cuts that she seemed to be accumulating. It was around the middle that the two of them hit a snag. Well more like Black*Star hit a snag. The water starters red spikes got caught on a small set of ropes and no matter how much thrashing around he did he was just getting more tangled up.
"Woah hold still there Black*Star!" Robin called out as she turned her body around and reached up to try to untangle her pokemon. Black*Star for his part held still and allowed Robin to untangle him. When she finished he fell back to the ground and the two of them smiled at each other for a moment before continuing on their way. When they reached the end of the course the two of them stood up and gave each other a high five, or low five in Robins case. The water pokemon helpfully sprayed water over her cuts and they looked as Brook floated over to them. "Heya Brook! Lets get going we still have a lot of course to cover." Robin grinned as she and her two teammates headed off to the tall looking wall ahead of them.
At the top of the wall Raz's wings buzzed in eager anticipation. The large pokemon watched his trainer and two of his teammates make their way over to his wall. He didn't know how they were going to climb up there but he was sure it would be interesting to find out.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 26, 2010 2:52 pm
When Robin, Brook and Black*Star reached the wall they all looked up at in in wonder. They had no idea how to get up it all together. Sure Brook could float up, Black*Star could probably dig his claws in and climb up it and Robin had no idea how she could make it up. Frowning slightly Robin wondered what to do exactly as she stared at the wall. "Ah... hmm, any of you have any ideas?" She asked not exactly sure what to do.
The three of them stared for a moment before Brook brightened up. Lifting up his two pompoms he shot out a variety of seeds at the wall. They turned out to be Leech Seeds as they started growing right away. "Hey thats a good idea Brook!" Robin brightened up as she watched them grow. If they grew big enough they could climb up them. Things didn't end up going exactly as planned. The vines grew a bit but not nearly big enough. "Hm, we need to make them bigger... Black*Star can you use your Water Gun on them? Some water should help right?" She wasn't quite sure but it couldn't hurt either. Nodding the Totodile gave a not so gentle, because nothing about this Totodile was gentle. Still the water did help and the rapid grown plants were pretty tough and they started to grow right away. Soon the whole wall was covered in vines that the group could easily climb up.
"Great work guys!" Robin cheered as they started to climb up the vines. When they reached the top the three of them hugged before Raz flew over to them buzzing happily. "All right Raz is with us now. Lets kick the rest of this courses butt!" They were halfway done and they still need to meet up with their teammates. Up next was the swamp course and Luffy was on the other side of it waving at them enthusiastically.
Grabbing a hold of Raz, Robin and the two gently floated down, Raz couldn't fly her anywhere, not yet at least, but he could make it so she didn't fall flat on her face. It looked like Brook and Black*Star were taking a cue from Robins book and floating down. With all of them down they grinned before running off towards the next obstacle and friend.
Luckily for Jett (and maybe Scarlet too), there didn’t seem to be any wandering trainers outside for the red head to compulsively challenge to a pokemon beat down. Only that massive glass domed gym looming ahead of them. Scarlet stared ahead in reverent awe, that is, if you could do that with an excited smirk on your face. Within that lair of brick and glass awaited a powerful foe, approved by the Pokemon league to test the power of trainers. This man had mastered the power of the speedy and maneuverable flying type. And he now rested within to respond to the challenge of the future League Champion.
“Falkner,” Scarlet glared, pointing dramatically at the 9th Gym in the Kanto/Johto league. “You’re all mine… … After Jett beats you. … Then it’s totally my turn. … Yeah.”
The tires of Jasper's bike splashed through a puddle, sending droplets of muddy water in all directions. He was certainly glad for the bike, as it seriously cut his travel time by a tremendous amount. He laughed loudly as his riding startled a flock of Pidgey, sending feathers scattering as the small birds took to the sky. Jasper remembered way back to when he'd planned to trek all the way to New Bark Town on foot and get himself a Totodile from Professor Elm. He'd planned for his first capture to either be a Pidgey or a Spearow, whichever came first, an Jasper laughed at the memory. It seemed so long ago. Ditto, still trying to get the size of his claws right, looked up at his trainer curiously, but quickly went back to his task. Jasper glanced down at the Ditto and smiled, a little glad his dreams of going off and becoming a trainer hadn't started until just this morning. After all, had that happened, he never would have met up with the mysterious blue blob.
Jasper passed by a boy carrying a rather large butterfly net, noticing that he also wore a wide-brimmed straw hat which had a Caterpie seated quietly on top of it. The Bug Catcher offered a wave, looking intrigued by the sight of the Paras riding on Jasper's handlebars, and again the two laughed. "You're certainly getting better at copying other Pokemon," Jasper noted as they made a wide right turn. It was a partial downhill slope from here, and Jasper could see what he at first thought was New Bark Town. As the city grew nearer, he soon realized that it wasn't New Bark, but was in fact Cherrygrove City.
'This is where that festival is held every year,' he thought, recalling the various flyers he'd seen earlier in the year. He wouldn't have minded going, as there would have been plenty of money making opportunities, but at the same time he figured he wouldn't have been the only one there with that purpose in mind. The scent of the sea filled his nose as he pedaled along, but he had little interest in the water and pressed onward. He passed by the PokeMart and the Pokemon Center respectively, glad that he'd been careful to avoid the eyes of other possible trainers and tall grass, lest he be thrown into a battle he didn't want to be in. 'Soon,' he told himself as Ditto scrambled back into his messenger bag for a nap. 'Soon.'
"It's showtime," Jett said, ashen eyes glaring at the glass dome at the top of the gym. They had arrived at the building, and now the boy filed through the automatic doors. The gym was quite large; it appeared as though the glass dome was there for a reason. But before the two, there was nothing but a small wooden panel and darkness.
Hoping he hadn't made some grievious mistake, Jett stood on the platform and when Scarlet joined him, it began to rise at a slightly alarming rate. "Whoa," Jett murmured, glancing around cautiously as they rose to the very top. "This is pretty cool." They arrived to the top, which seemed to be a series of wooden pathways with various trainers waiting. The planks were just wide enough for an average-sized Pokemon to stay on.
"I'm gonna head straight for him," Jett whispered to his friend, noticing the translucent planks that lead straight to the larger area where the gym leader in question waited. With a small grin, he began to walk confidently along the outer path until he reached the area.
"Falkner!" Jett called, his voice echoing loudly. He winced slightly but continued on, standing before the blue-haired trainer. "My name is Jett Forrest! I'm here to challenge you!"
