"You'd probably have to torture her before she told you anything. And I'm old enough to know what taking of figureheads means...who knows you may find yourself having more fun...and I'll see what I can do. Your agression while appreciated, is going to keep them on high alert. The art of ambush is so much more befitting of you anyway." Chuckling lightly and tilting his head to look at the ship. "I did tell you about them, but as most pirates and those who think highly of themselves you have selective listening. I may or may not have used their names, but I mentioned them." Switching his tail back and forth a moment. "Why does that concern you anyhow?"

"I can do ambushing. which is why I didn't follow them directly. but I'd also like to not be ambushed myself. and it concerns me because I don't intend to be some servant to you or anyone. and that....thing...is helping with the Chimera and the claw. I don't need to have to worry about ancient legends coming to life because a creature can become anything it wants. While I would like to destroy that pest that damaged my ship, things are gettiing more dangerous and I'm not seeing any compensation coming my way just yet outside the haul off the Claw."

"The Laerethe care less about lording, and I don't need anyone to serve under me. So you can tuck that little human worry of yours away. And that one only helps because you present a hinderance to the mission objective. I can guarentee you that it would let you do whatever you pleased with them if they weren't of use to it's own agenda." Giving an annoyed noise from his throat. "Looking for compensation? Name your price in shiny things then and I'll give them to you...but do remember, the deeper you pick a dragon's coffers, the more that is expected of you in your performances and accomplishments."

A glimmer of amusement at her slip-up but Xeke let it fly. "You know him. He gets frustrated, hardly ever real anger." But more important matters to attend to, he pulsed a little brighter, effectively making his voice louder so that Gem could hear as well. "As for staying safe, Fang knows you're out here and he knows you took the figurehead. You think you can outrun and outsmart him?"

"Sylin. If I you know anything about him that would give us reason not to trust him, you should speak up now." He knew his father's Seon was old, experienced, and quite possibly knew much more than it usually divulged. But certain information would surely prove useful during this turn of events. A glance over to Hunter's first mate though and he blinked. This was hardly the time to be focusing his attentions on that... "Perhaps later. Keeping an eye for them and the Riders is my priority at the moment. And Captain Deacon feels he is important, the presence or absence of select people won't change that."

"I'll make it up to him." If anything she could just beg for forgiveness she supposed, that would of course have to come after the lecture that he would no doubt deliver unto her. She would walk up to him like a child who's been caught doing something wrong and he'd stand there stern as ever and explain to her the various reasons why the decision that she had made was bad. "I know he's here...I can smell him." She had been trying to ignore such things to keep Gem from getting all frantic.

The voice shoved in with the wind past her ears and shielding her eyes a little she looked to the bright spot of blue light that followed the ever changing flight pattern made to mix up Fang before she was setting them on the right track. "I've made sure to double back and suck enough to mess even him up. No worries, she can go back with you the moment she drops me off!" Having to yell to make her voice over the wind heard. "Straight from here Ice!"

Sylin's light fluttered a moment as it was adressed and it moved from his horn to hover around near his face some. "Trust? Subjective is the Matter of such. Lycear and Obsidian Brother never trust One Another. Beloved Laricalu was the Peacekeeper between Life Mate and Clutch Mate." Bobbing lightly in that lazy yet purposful fashion. "One to love like no other, the other to love unconditionally...Obsidian Brother was very protective of Her, even from Lycear. Whould have Killed Lycear after She was Gone that Very night...if not for Son of Lycear." And pause in cryptic information as it usually did...whether it liked to mess with people or felt people had to ask more to get more, only it knew.

Fang only smirked lightly.

"shiny things? I have no need for a dragon's hoard. what I want from you for compensation is far, far more valuable, and seeing as this little situation you've gotten me into involves beings of incredible power in their own right. So I'll leave the option to you. I want either your entire last shedding of skin, or one of your little shards and whatever means your using to keep them beyond detection. I'm risking a great deal in this. not only am I having to be concerned with the ever growing Rider arrogance to my sands, but I'm having to deal with the city-state's dragonic heir to the throne and his woman, on top of the already annoying Captains Deacon and Nereem. and then there are these pests with the star eyes."

"So you want either power or protection, is that right? Or do you jsut wnat to play outclassing the Dagger" Come now, there were few reasons that anyone wanted dragon scales. That would be for protection that came in the form of ship plating or personal armor and shieling. Maybe a weapon or two if the right craftsman was consulted. "The means of their detetction...well that is a delicate thing and I'm afraid you wouldn't be able to pull it off. Learethe are sensitive to the deed of others that are less than, shall we say innocent. Honestly, if you had a shard they would probably be even more aware of you." Giving a light chuckle. "Alright, I'll get you your scales, or would you like the location yourself?"

"A good business relation involves trust. I'll trust you to bring back the required items, and you can trust me not to go on ahead and shoot white girl down and take that woman with her."

Fang glanced at the crew around him.

"Full stop. set anchor, and make sure we are well prepared. we're waiting for now."

Desdemona came out of Deacon's quarters looking rather pleased and relatively calmer, though she was still holding her head from time to time. other than that, she moved over by Kanzec.

"These saltbeds may be dangerous enough for our kind, but I don't think Gem would have dragged her out there without good reason. but neither of us are able to get around as easily. So any word from the tiny ones about recent events?"

He chuckled. "Spreaking of trust. How very amusing...but so be it." Watching as Fang threw his chips on the table and thusly it was his turn to do so. "Fair enough...I'll get you what you want and you play nice with the other children in the sandbox." A flick of his tail then and he took to the skies once more. Hm, he'd bought himself some time...now to send that white packing with some sense then getting Fang what he wanted.

"Giving him peace of mind will help. As would letting yourself heal properly." Circling up to hover by Gem somewhat, he pulsed again. "Pirates and their mind games... Sometimes I wonder if you all enjoy it. You're leaving your crew behind just like this then?"

He listened to his father's Seon as the things it said were proving to be effective distractions. It made him think and confused him all at the same time. "Me? I don't even remember him." But a glance over as Desdemona joined him and he shook his head. It really must have been a good reason. "You mean the Laerethe or the elves? I haven't heard from the former but they don't seem to like to intrude unless called upon. As for the elves, they left earlier. Your head is still hurting?"

"I can put his mind at peace...or at least give him a plausible reason that will soothe him." She glided her way down after Gem's directions and a quick check of the sands below, folding wings as the walls of the canyon like structure that stuck out from the sands that she had been directed to. A shake of her head and a snuff. “It smells awful in here…”

"Evasion tactics, not mind games. And no dear light ball, I'm going back for them. If they'll have me once more as their captain, then that is up to them." Holding on at the onset of descent, Gem giggled and didn’t seem bothered. “Good, that’s how it’s supposed to be. To you know, keep things like you and everything else out of here and from nesting and what not. Glad to know it works.” Patting the dragon’s head, she grinned to herself and continued on through the odd smelling semi-tunnel that lead back to almost a lean to like formation in the rocks., eventually coming to the ship where she instructed the dragon to help put the figurehead on the bow. Happily she stood back and observed. “There, you can head back to the others.” Waiting for Ice to let her down and drop off her own share of the brought cargo before giving a dismissive wave. “No worries, I’ll be along soon enough. Just make sure Hunter goes to that atoll so I can get my crew back. She’ll be fast enough to cover the distance back.”

"Will do." Turning a look to the little ball of light. "Come on, let's go back. And I'm letting myself heal properly...I just can't sit around all the time and wait for such things to slowly take place. When I get back, I'll make sure to change bandages and rest, how about that?"

"Mild concussion. several cannonballs to the head will do that...still get some minor headaches and dizzy spells still. You know, I don't mean to pry a bit here, but if he's your uncle, then how come you seem to know only a little more then we do? don't you city dragons keep close family ties or anything?"

Hunter was still going over maps. he could do this. hit the atoll, arrange for a ship from there to have an 'accident' and get the Prince's attention, then pawn Kanzec off in his place by getting kanzec to make a deal for the included price of bell's safety. This could work..if he couldn't find some other method of bargain. he didn't want to spend any time on the Prince if he could help it.

Sylin had taken a moment to think how it wanted to word things. "Son of Lycear was not Well enough to know He was there. Obsidian brother did not come along Before and did not Come along After. Spared the Father for the sake of the Son." Fluttering a little before pausing in it's motions and presumably letting attention to Des. "Obsidian Brother was never City Bound. Before Lycear neither was Beloved Laricalu."

"Xeke." Funny how the Seon actually liked being recognized and feeling important, if that's what you could call having a name. Blue light was cast onto the hidden ship and he merely watched on as the two got the figurehead secure and such. "I hope you don't run into trouble on the way, you are only one person afterall." But circling around Jae's horn again, presumably to follow her back. "Well that's what healing involves. Resting, letting things get back to normal, slowly. But don't tell me that, I'm not the one that needs appeasement."

A nod to the dragonness's reasoning. "I'm still intrigued as to the reason why you are staying with us. Is helping on this journey your attempt to get something from the captain or merely trying to prove your loyalty?" Frowning deepening slightly though as more personal questions were asked. "Sylin is right. I don't remember him and he stays away from Ilindal because of history he has with my father... I never really knew him until now." He was understanding the story a little more now but some things just weren't enough. Turning eyes to the red light for a moment, he shook his head. "I won't let him try to do anything to father again."

"Me and Deacon go way back. part of it is loyalty. part of it is more personal between us. He's my Captain. I go where he goes, and he goes where the winds and sands take him."

glancing between the two.

"That's part of the problem then. out here in the sands, dragons stay with thier clutch until nature or need take them away. I doubt your uncle was pleased at all if your mother chose the city over her clutchmate and the sands. I take it your broken horn was from your uncle?"
