Blitz's dodging seemed to be effective, for he was able to deflect most of the Flareon's embers, as well as get close enough to Sunfire to give him a good shock of Thunderbolt. "Great job, Blitz!" Ryka called out, proud of her little one. His cheeks puffed up in pride upon hearing her praise. But this pride didn't last, for Sunfire quickly retaliated with a lightning-fast Shadow Ball. Blitz was at such a close range that the attack hit him directly, knocking the Pikachu back quite a few feet. Standing up again wasn't as easy as before, and he winced a bit, but his nature wouldn't allow him to give up that fast. He was a little worse for wear, but he still had some power left in him.
"That was a very good attack, Sunfire." Ryka smiled across the field. It was certainly unexpected. "Now Blitz, are you ready to try that new combination?" Blitz gave a curt nod that yelled Ready as I'll ever be! "Alright then, Blitz! Use Double Team! Surround Sunfire!"
Blitz smirked at his opponent before running. He began to run around and around the Flareon, gaining momentum as he went. Swirls of darkness whipped off of his fur, a pwoerful reminder of the Flareon's Shadow Ball. As Blitz ran, it looked as though there was two, three, four, five of him. Blitz and his dopplegangers surrounded and entrapped Sunfire within their circle.
"Great! Now, let's try out that Thunderbolt!" As if a power generator had exploded, all of the Blitz's released charged bolts of lightning from their cheeks. The lightning infused with the circle of speeding Pikachus, creating a ring of electricity that held Sunfire inside. Ryka grinned at their performance, even giving Blitz a bit of applause. "That's wonderful, Blitz!"

Roxanne knew that her Onix couldn't handle more than a few of Ghos' Giga Drains, though there wasn't too much the giant rock snake could do to block them. She heard Leon call out for a Will-o-wisp, and knew very well that she didn't want something like that to make contact with Onix as she'd encountered more than a few Will-o-wisping Vulpix in her days as a gym leader. She knew how bad a burn status was and she also didn't want her Pokemon suffering if she could avoid it.
"Onix! Deflect it with a Rock Tomb!" she commanded. The Rock Snake roared in agreement before sending his heavy tail crashing to the ground again, causing more pillars of rock to shoot up in the nick of time to block the odd fireballs coming his way and possibly send a few rocks in Ghos' direction as well. The small wisps of flame that did get through were easily dissipated by the Sandstorm, and Roxanne smiled, wondering what Leon and Ghos would do next. * * * * * Riza was pleased to see that Amy had perked up a bit, though she couldn't help but worry a bit for the younger girl. With so many people in the world there were bound to be plenty of bad or evil people in it, and she shuddered to think back to the Rocket attack at Slateport as that was a prime example. She and Crenu hadn't even been in the worst of it and sometimes dreams of the attack woke her up in the night. Eris was also happy to see that Amy's spirits had picked up and she weaved in between Riza's legs so that she could walk between them, gently nuzzling Amy's legs. Riza looked down at the Quilava and smiled. "What are you, a Persian or something?" she asked with a giggle.
She looked back to Amy, smiling at the compliment. "Thank you," she said, running a hand through her shiny black hair. "I found this nice little salon around the pokemart. Their prices were good, and they did my hair and makeup and even took care of all my Pokemon, too," she added as Eris preened at the comment. The Contest Hall was just in front of them now, and Riza felt a shiver of excitement course through her as she saw all the people already starting to make their way in. They still had plenty of time to go and sign in, but seeing all those fans only added to Riza's anticipation. "This is going to be so great," she giggled, leading the way into the cafe and finding them a quiet table by the window. * * * * * It seemed that bird keeper Alexandra had suddenly realized that Miles was much more of a threat since he was the only Pokemon that was awake, and she pointed at the Buizel. "Both of you, attack him at once," she called, and the two birds sped forward, their wings flapping rapidly. The Chatot reached Miles first and lunged forward, attempting to land a series of pecks to the sea weasel Pokemon. Miles jumped back, only a few of the attacks getting through, but he didn't see the Hoothoot come charging from behind its team mate, hopping up and over the Chatot and landing a solid Peck to the top of the Buizel's head.
Miles staggered back, already in the process of launching a retaliatory Sonic Boom but the peck to the top of the head had left him a bit dizzy and the Chatot didn't have to move much to avoid it. It was about then that Katie realized that they now had a spectator watching the battle. Katie didn't recognize the blonde haired woman but she quickly focused back on her battle. Things looked bad for Miles now that both birds were attacking him, and Kord was asleep, and for a moment Katie considered calling the battle off until a flash of electricity sped across the battlefield and struck the Chatot. Katie looked over to see that Kord had awoken, and was looking a little upset that his team mate was being picked on. 'That looked like Shock Wave' Katie thought, smiling. 'This ought to even up the odds.'

Peine made it to the National Park entrance as the man on the intercom was about to announce that the time was up. He looked around for a healing machine, though there wasn’t one in the building. ‘Dammit, probably the closest one is back in Goldenrod.’ “Does anyone have revives or potions?” Peine called out, hoping that one of the trainers that were there would answer him.
None of the other trainers answered. Only two actually minded to check, the others didn’t even bother to look up, like they didn’t even here the boy ask the question.
“Sir, your Pokemon is hurt?” one of the guards asked Peine, the same one that woke him up this morning.
“Yes, my Sneasel is very badly injured, but there is no healing machine here and I really need one fast!” Peine said, a small tear coming down his cheek.
“Let me see your Sneasel. I know that one of the guards owns a Blissey. While you’re having the results taken, we’ll heal your Sneasel for you.”
“Really??” Peine asked with a look of disbelief written all over his face.
“Yes, really,” the man said, taking Sel’s ball and walking over to another man. “He’ll make sure that your Sneasel is as good as new kid.”
“Thank you!!” Peine called out to the man.
“All trainers please come to the park, the results are in,” another guard yelled out. A relieved Peine and the bug catchers grouped together and when into the reception area in the park to see if they won.
“Our contestants today…” the announcer yelled out to with a bellowing voice. “Munro with a Beedrill, Alex with a Venonat, David with a Weedle, Noah with the rare Pinsir, and Peine with the rare Scyther. Now, please, send your Pokemon out so we can see out winner.”
All the trainers released there Pokemon. Peine knew that he definitely was going to get top three, seeing some of the competition, though the Beedrill and the Pinsir looked like he could have a bit of trouble winning.
“And the winner is…”
((OOC: cliffhanger!! Results are coming in when Aire tells me where everyone is placed))

Mitsu smiled uneasily as Kilik helped her down from the mighty Flygon. She'd never been fond of Lavaridge, it was much too hot for her tastes and Flannery and herself, despite being on good terms, were never really that close. Especially not that she had found out that Mike had been in love with the redhead and not herself. Oh, how childish they were back then. Petty things like crushes being their main issues aside from say Giovanni's plot to rule the world.
Mitsu choked out a small laugh, still not entirely well with their mission. She just couldn't shake the feeling of dread. They'd all come out okay. . .but would they really be "okay?"
She blindly followed Kilik's lead, letting him take her along easily. He even had to give her a slight push through the doors. As soon as they entered the gym, she was hit with the most unpleasant wave of heat. Ick. I've never liked this gym. It's way too hot. . . and why they were even sneaking around to begin with was beyond her, but she wasn't exactly the leader type, so she'd just follow. One of them had to know what they were doing. . .hopefully.

Amy felt her heart gradually slowing down and she let out a small sigh. That jerk had really gotten to her. The friendly Quilava's signs of affection only helped calm her further, and the girl offered the Fire-type a bright smile and a gentle scratch behind the ears. "So cute..."
While they walked, the girl listened to Riza and nodded a little, remembering her own little trip earlier in the afternoon. Her light blue eyes found the lines of people in the Contest Hall and her smile grew less refined and more excited. "You said it," she agreed fervently as she sat down. She thought briefly of the lunch she had with Mag and gazed thoughtfully at the menu.
"So," Amy began in a slightly absent tone, her attention to the conversation growing as she looked up from her menu. "What's it like, to be a trainer?" The words made her feel childish and a light pink graced her cheeks, but she said nothing while she waited for the other girl's reply.

“Whi-whew!” Mag let out a low whistle as he saw the emerging spectacle. Those two definitely had a combination going on here. “That’s pretty dang cool Ryka!” Mag complimented. “…but we've got a way to deal with it, go for it Sunfire!” Mag replied, hoping that their strategy would make it in time.
The electric ring had reached its zenith and was about to burst toward Sunfire, although only a small portion of the spectacle was actually physically electricity, the duo didn’t want to take any more chances with it. Sunfire barked in affirmation and focused his energy, attempting to manifest the golden barrier, but this time in condensed parts instead of the regular, all encompassing dome that came naturally. Unfortunately for the Flame Pokemon, he didn’t quite have the trick down, and instead of forming connected bits, each piece was an individual segment allowing much of the electrical energy to pass right through albeit in diminished power. All in all, his golden hexagons did however add to the impressive spectacle as the electricity bounced off creating deep arcs of golden light.
Sunfire grit his teeth as the electricity washed over him, this time feeling quite a bit worse for the wear, fairly certain he had been paralyzed in addition to being damaged by the energy that had now seeped into the ground. Alas, to be a ground type would have been quite beneficial for this fight, but his line had yet to figure out that form of evolution were it at all possible.
“Well, failure avoided for the initial strike,” Moti muttered to himself, “but we’ve still gotta deal with those clones somehow. Too bad I didn’t use Shining for this fight, Swift would’ve been quite helpful.”

Mike followed Keegan like a shadow as he walked to the Gym. He hid behind him and winced every time he saw someone else walk by. Thankfully, the group was large enough and Keegan, while well known, wasn't known for his sociability. Because of this, no one approached them.
As they neared the Gym, Mike felt his heart rate quicken. He began to shake. His breathing became labored. Smoke rose from underneath his hood.
"Ma chérie, are you okay?" Sasha asked, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder.
"N-no." Mike choked out, before coughing violently. "I'm so s-scared. What if she isn't here?" He looked up at the gym. Underneath his hood Sasha could see a faint orange glow from his scar. "What if she doesn't want to see me?"
"She will. She will." Sasha said softly, rubbing the boy's back for a few seconds before having to lift her hand. Mike said nothing and kept proximity to Keegan as his friend opened the Gym door and ushered everyone in. Mike didn't have the luxury of nostalgia when he entered the Gym. He was too busy panicking about what would happen in the next five minutes to take a trip down memory lane.
Keegan's question made him flinch. "Uh, yeah. S-sure, that seems the best. Please. Tell her I need to see her right away." Mike reached into his pocket and pulled out the Moltres feather. "If she doesn't believe me," he said to himself. "Then I show her this. This is undeniable. Proof that I'm just a walking corpse." He put the feather back in his pocket and sunk to the floor. "I should be happy." he said. "But why is it that all I can do is tremble?"
Sasha looked at Mike, then at Kasiya. "Come on." she said to her friend as she knelt down beside Mike. "It's okay. It's okay." The girl rubbed the boy's back again. This time she could barely keep her hands there for ten seconds without betting burned. Heat was radiating from him like an oven. "Just relax." Her voice was soft and motherly as she tried to calm him down. "We're all here for you."

Mai raised an eyebrow when she saw the Elekid wake up and launch a fairly impressive Shock Wave. It seemed quite spirited for such a young Pokemon, but Mai was far more interested in the orange, weasel-like creature and the strange blue, red and black bird. She reached into her bag and withdrew her own PokeDex and surprisingly enough, an upgraded version of the one she'd received from Professor Oak many years ago though it had been remodeled by Team Rocket's tech team. Thanks to a few stolen downloads from the good professor of Pallet Town, it now held important information on the Pokemon of Sinnoh. Chatot and Buizel, she read. A Normal/Flying-type and a Water-type. Interesting; I wonder what else these kids have, she thought, snapping the device shut. She wasn't sure which of the two young trainers currently held the upperhand, but if she had to wager, she'd guess the girl with the long, orange pigtails and Elekid were going to come out on top.
=-=-=-=-= That second Defense Curl was a good idea, Jake thought as the small Shieldon charged forward. "Brace yourself, Bibarel!" he called. The Beaver Pokemon did just that, preparing for the inevitable strike. She couldn't see which way the Shieldon was coming from, but luckily the little tank was about as noisy as a tank. Shieldon's footfalls grew closer and she let out a little grunt as she was knocked for a ride by the Tackle. "Now, Bibarel! Blast it with your Water Gun!" Jake called.
In mid-flight Bibarel uncurled herself, her cheeks already filling up with water. She let the jet of water fly, hoping that her firing angle would make it more difficult for Shieldon to dodge.

The evening air was cool and calming, the kind of gentle crisp feeling one gets when they flip their pillow over in the middle of the night. That memory of his mother played over and over in Crenu's mind, a memory that had been completely lost all these years until now. As far as Crenu could remember he'd never been to Cerulean, but almost everything prior to his father's death had been blocked off in his mind long ago. Some might have considered what he'd seen to be a happy memory, the kind of lost treasure one would cherish and not forget anymore, but this was not so. Crenu was doing his best to forget it, to push it back to the dark corners of his mind where it had spawned and erase it for good. His past didn't matter to him, what his mother was like back then was no longer relevant. Things had changed and there was no going back, remembering things like that would only slow him down on his quest for absolute power, purging himself of the days past was the only way to ensure a completely new future. Disease nothing, Crenu wasn't going to let anything from back then anchor him down even for a moment. Going back to Johto may have been a bad idea after all, and being in Kanto was no good either. The possibility for more lurking memories to surface by revisiting places he may have been to as a child were too great. Hoenn was safe, he knew for a fact he'd never been there, it was to far from Johto for them to have visited pre six years old. And that new region, hell if the borders just opened up freely then there was no chance for memories there right? But he was traveling with Riza now, he'd have to convince her that going back home to Johto was a bad idea without telling her why. The less she knew about him the better, for both their sakes. Anything before the day they met was irrelevant anyway, there was nothing from back then that would affect any future that could stem from this point on, and if something did come up he'd simply have to crush it down before it became a threat. Nothing would get in the way of his quest for power, Crenu would find the strength to annihilate anything that rose up against him. Then and only then would he be able to protect the things he cared about and the person he had grown so fond of. Before long Crenu managed to find himself standing in front of the contest hall, the contest clock ticking every so close to the start now. "Nervous?" A voice chimed in suddenly as the sparkly caped man emerged as if from thin air, walking up behind the blond boy. He wore a large grin on his face and held a rather large tote bag with what looked like bits of fabric peeking out from the top. He walked up next to Crenu, staring at the contest hall as well, taking it all in before looking at his friend. "I don't get nervous." The tall blond boy answered coldly, hoping that if he didn't give Kenneth a side glance he'd vanish just as quickly as he'd appeared. But after a few seconds of silence it was clear that Ken wasn't going anywhere. "What're you doing here anyway? You left so suddenly and didn't show your face all day, I was starting to get my hopes up." "Ouch, so cold little Shiro. And here I was doing you a solid favor." Ken said in a pretend huff, though by the quick half glance Crenu gave him he knew he'd grabbed his attention. "Heh heh heh, tell me bandages, you were gonna go into the contest looking like that? No no no Shiro, Contests are elegant artful events that require a certain level of class! I mean sure you could go in like that but honestly, don't you want to stand out to the judges and be seen as the intelligent superior being that you claim to be?" Kenneth was clearly being condescending, but he spoke the truth. Crenu sighed as he loosened up a bit, entering to the contest hall. "What's your point Sparkles? This is all I have on me right now. I can change into another shirt but I'll look the same without my jacket." Flashing his pass to the receptionist he walked past her into the participants area and into the mens changing room. Ken had no pass but gave a quick 'I'm with him' wave to the receptionist who honestly looked like she couldn't care less. Maybe they had spare props and outfits or something. It was just then that he put it together, Ken's 'favor' and the tote bag filled with cloth. "You didn't..." But it was no use, Ken's grin said it all. Crenu could picture it now, an outfit identical to Kenneth's with purple sparkling cape and all. "Oh foo, you're no fun at all guessing the surprise so soon. Well you're right, I made you a little something. I've been working on it for a few days now ever since you said you were interested in contests, I'm just glad I got it all sewn together in time for tonight show." He said setting the bag down, his excitement almost impossible to hold in. It wasn't contest time yet but there were already a few other participants getting ready, and a few of there were staring at Ken in disbelief. There were a few murmurers of 'Is that really him?' 'No way dude, why would he be in some rookie contest like this?' But Ken paid them no mind as he started rifling through the bag. "I tell you Shiro, you were a bit of a challenge. I was gonna make you something super extraordinarily flashy and great, kinda like me...well not as good as my outfit of course." He said as he spotted a full sized mirror on the wall and did a bit of a twirl, grabbing the cape and wrapping it around himself in an exaggerated motion that seemed to impress the people watching. 'I knew it it is him!' "But I knew you'd never wear it. you're not fabulous enough to pull of something like this. So I had to reinvent my whole design to fit you and your gloomy self. Here, they'll never know you're injured!" Ken said as he tossed Crenu a pair of glimmering silver gloves. Crenu caught the gloves and stared at them for a second, it was moire subtle than on his cape but he could see and feel the odd extra material sewn into it that gave it that sparkling quality that Ken had in his cape. "You're kidding my right? What part of me makes you think I'd go for the shimmering thing you have going on here? Couldn't you make regular gloves?" This was simply wrong. Crenu honestly thought he would rather go out as he was now, but there were no spare outfits around as he had hoped there would be. Sighing deeply he put the gloves on, when this was over he was going to have to end Kenneth. "So unmanly." Heeheehee, aren't they nice! Oh it took me forever to make those things, gloves are a pain in the booty let me tell you Mr. Regular fabric doesn't come in silver that looks that good so be grateful. Ok now Mr. Grumpy pants, the rest is simple. I figured that was best for you, simple can be very powerful sometimes. Less is more as they say right?" From his bag he pulled out the rest of the outfit and unfolded it and laid it out for Crenu to see. "It's a tux! Nice, formal and neat, and still fabulous. Now hurry up and get dressed!" Giving Crenu the pile of clothes Kenneth shoved him into a booth, waiting impatiently for him to finish. Crenu was deathly afraid of what Kenneth was going to give him next, but when he told him it was a tux he relaxed a little. A tux wasn't so bad, a little played out and traditional but that was perfect for Crenu. But of course, Ken being Ken he had to give it that bit of stupid flair. It was a black tuxedo alright, but that silver sparkle seemed to be the theme. At lest is was subtle though, sort of. The jacket had coat tails with silver buttons at the ends, the shirt was white as was the handkerchief though it had a touch of silver sparkles to it. The collar of the jacket was lined with the silver glimmering material as well running all the way down the buttons. Around his neck was an old fashioned bow tie, also silver and sparkling, which was a pain in the a** to tie, the pants were much to his surprise very normal save for the silver studded belt running through it. Cuff links were of course silver pokeballs and he had shiny black shoes, the most normal part of the outfit. Crenu looked at himself in the mirror and sighed, rubbing the stress out of his eyes. He even had a fake sparking silver rose pinned to the tux jacket for god's sake. "Damn it Ken, really? You couldn't leave out the glittery stuff, could you?" Though he had to admit, it could have been a lot worse. He was going to destroy Ken regardless, this was his biggest stunt yet and had it not been for the fact that he had no other choice then he wouldn't be caught dead in this stupid outfit. "I swear all I need is a freakin cane or something." Crenu said with a bit of a scowl as he exited the booth. "Oh my, a cane. Now why didn't I think of that?" Though one look at Crenu told Ken that he should pursue the thought no further. But that was the furthest thing from his mind the very second he laid eyes on his masterpiece. "Ah Shiro you look so handsome! Like a real life gentleman, oh I wish I'd made you a top hat! Heeheehee, ok put this on, the last piece of the ensemble. Perfect!" Kenneth exclaimed as he pulled out a sparkling silver mask. All in all there was probably more sparkle in Crenu's outfit than in his own, but it was more subtle and didn't look nearly as great as his. Without the go ahead he placed the mask on Crneu's face for him, it was a plain mask other than the silver glimmer on top of the black mask which really only covered his eyes. "Ah Perfecto! Now you're ready to dazzle!" "..." Crenu was at a loss for words. at least no one would recognize him with this thing on. Yeah, as if. Even if you didn't know what their eyes looked like he was pretty sure you could identify a man if you saw them with this type of mask on then without. But that was hardly the point. Giving Kenneth a good solid punch in the arm Crenu walked out without another word, into the communal waiting room where all the contestants were to wait for their turn to go up on stage, Ken following a few moments later holding his arm with a big grin on his face. it was almost show time, at least he wouldn't have to wear thsi stupid thing for long.

Ryka gazed proudly at Blitz while smiling at Mag's comment. "Oh, thank you! We got the idea from a friend. We are entering the contest tonight, after all. We need something...flashy." She giggled a bit at her own pun. And when Sunfire cast Protect, Ryka was just as awed as Mag had been moments before. "That was pretty cool yourself. I had no idea Protect could work that way!"
Suddenly, Sunfire's protect started to fizzle out. Despite this, Ryka thought it very pretty, the way the electricity bounced off of the little remaining pieces of the shield. And as if on cue, Blitz's electricity ring began to fizzle out as well. The dopplegangers began to vanish, and Blitz's speed slowed. The electricity sparking along the ring began to decrease in intensity as well; Blitz was obviously getting tired. A quick glance at Sunfire showed that he was quite tired as well, however.
"It's okay Blitz! That was great!" Ryka tapped her foot on the ground as she tried to think. "Quick, while the electricity still flows...use Quick Attack!" Blitz and his one remaining doppleganger split from the circle, which fizzled out with a last wave of static. The remaining static clung to the fur of the two Pikachus, who sped towards their tired opponent from opposite sides of the field. This Quick Attack was a little slower than a normal one; if it didn't hit, who knows what could happen next. Ryka just hoped and believed in her little Pikachu.

Roark watched as his pokemon looked up in surprise as the other pokemon bounced right up into the air only to get blasted with a Water Gun. Well that certainly was clever; the attack was super effective to. To bad for the other side attacking his pokemon from the front wasn't all that damaging. "Heh, your going to have to do better then that if you want to break our defense!" Roark grinned as he watched his pokemon shake off the water. "Let's make things a little more interesting in here! Shieldon use your Sandstorm!" Roark flipped his goggles down over his eyes as he watched one of his Geodude offer one of the gyms goggles to Jake.
Still a little irritated at the water, he really didn't like it! At least it had hit his front instead of his back though. Hearing the call for a Sandstorm Shieldon was only to happy to comply, the stinging sands would help lesson the power of that Water Gun. Glowing slightly and stomping his feet on the ground Shieldon watched as sand started to flow throughout the entire arena. Those who spent a lot of time here knew that Sandstorm was used almost as much as Stealth Rock, though a lot of time they were both used at the same time. It was funny to watch the non-rock type pokemon stumble around and run into the floating rocks.
~~~~~~
"Everyone deserves to be taken seriously." Robin replied as she watched the two pokemon on the field. Poor Ace seemed to really be getting tired, he had battled so hard today. "Come on Ace lets end it in the next pass! Show them your Mach Punch again!"
"Your the one thats going to fall if you do that! Sparky use your Bite when he gets close!"
The two pokemon didn't even wait for the sentence to finish leaving their trainers mouth before they were moving. The speedy Monferno charged forward doing his best to ignore the electricity crackling over him. The Luxio meanwhile shifted in the ground bracing itself as it watched Ace charge forward. It seemed though that luck was not on Ace's side as his limbs decided at that moment that it was time to be paralyzed and the poor pokemon fell down hard skidding to a stop right in front of the Luxio. The other side wasn't going to wait for them to get up and recover as the Luxio's jaw grabbed onto Ace's arm and with a mighty toss of its head threw the other pokemon back to Robin's side.
"Oh Ace!" Robin cried as she watched her pokemon land hard on the ground. It looked like the Monferno wasn't going to be getting up anytime soon.
"Ace is unable to battle, Sparky is the winner." Came Tony Tony's voice from the sidelines. The Monferno had put up an impressive battle and it might even have won if it wasn't for the fact that he had probably been battling all day. "Trainer Robin has one more pokemon to use, who will you pick?"
Feeling bad for Ace Robin recalled him into his pokeball and frowned slightly, she had no idea who to use next. She couldn't use the still sleeping Totodile, all of her other pokemon looked like they were eager to battle to. The choice was made up for her though before she even knew it as Luffy jumped onto the battlefield.
"Your Ambipom huh? This the pokemon you were talking about earlier Robin?" Joe asked from his side of the battlefield as he looked over the strong looking pokemon. Reaching into his pocket he pulled out a second pokeball. "Sparky I don't think you can win against him just yet, come back here were going to let Stream take care of this." The Luxio nodded and ran back to Joe's side as he tossed out another pokeball to reveal a weird otter thing. "This is my friend, lets see who wins this one."
"All right Luffy the Ambipom verses Stream the Floatzel match start!"
Laichi thanks Nurse Joy in the restoration of Zii; A bow and a thank you is all it took. Nurse Joy explains that it would be safer to have another pokemon due to Zii being the only one. "Pokemon get tired, and they are not always wanting to battle or listen when they are tired."
Laichi looks at Zii's ball and smiles. It is true, because there have been times when Laichi wanted to spar and Zii just laid back flicking flower petals at smaller grass types. There is an understanding every trainer has to go through and that is your pokemon is not the best. Laichi understood this.
She walks from the Pokemon Center rejuvenated. Zii is happy to be alright, and with a small talk Zii now understands what type of training is about to be forced on him. This is for the best of the team. Zii laughs, knowing Laichi did not want to go the path of her family, but Zii is happy his trainer is wanting the best for him.
Laichi steps onto the road, looks at the tall buildings and the bright skies, and turns to leave the city the way she came.
"Sometimes in order to go forward, we must take a few steps back. Zii we need to find you a fight. I have one in mind."
Keegan eyed the Moltres feather carefully before Mike put it back, nodding slowly. He honestly wasn't sure how the redheaded gym leader was going to react, or if Mike had even filled her in on anything they were planning on doing today. He didn't even know if Flannery knew they were all coming here. "If she attacks me, he's gonna owe me big time," Keegan muttered to himself as he walked across the foyer, very much fearing for his very life as he reached the door to Flannery's office. He glanced back over his shoulder at the others before he looked back at the door, the worn Heat Badge symbol emblazoned on the front as familiar to him as his own front door. He took a deep breath before he reached out and knocked sharply on the door three times, being sure to wait a few seconds before the third.
Certain that Flannery would recognize the knock pattern he waited a moment before stepping inside. The office itself hadn't changed too much in décor since Flannery had taken over, as most of the photos and other things her grandfather had brought in remained in place, though she had added a few things of her own to the collection, Keegan did note that the place was overdue for a good dusting. "Knock, knock," he said, spotting the fiery young woman sitting in her chair, looking somewhat spaced-out and nervous. Maybe Mike did tell her what's going on, he thought, frowning a bit as he closed the door behind him. "Uh, just wanted to let you know that we're all here," he said, nodding. "And, you know, give you a moment, if you need it." He didn't know why, but to him, it felt a little bit awkward, standing here in the gym. He didn't know if it was because the last time he'd been here, it had been to win his own Heat Badge (and to cheer on Kasiya to win hers, of course) or if it was because of everything that had gone down on July 1st. Either way, something about the gym felt different to him, and he knew then that no matter what, things would never, ever be able to go back to the way they had been before. ===== As soon as the Bullet Punch had landed, Miharu realized it had been too much and she silently motioned for Tingle to return to her side. The Metang, sensing the tense situation quietly hovered back over to her, gently petting her head with its clawed hand. "Thanks, Tingle," she murmured quietly, biting her lower lip as both Scarlet and Jett seemed to be impressed. "Uh, well..." She was at a loss for words, so she simply shrugged at first, glancing from Sam, then back to the two boys again. Even Jasper hadn't moved from his spot, and she looked at the ground, watching the last bit of water from Star's Surf seep into the ground. "I've spent a lot of time training," she said finally, only vaguely aware of the fact that Tingle was now attempting to braid her long, green hair.
She glanced at Sam, again, and shook her head. "Don't worry about it, Sam. I forgot to tell you that Surf hits every Pokemon on the field except for the one using it and Pokemon that are using Fly, Protect, or Detect. That's my fault - ow!" The last part of her sentence was cut off by a cry and a whimper as Tingle's long claws had gotten caught in her hair and was now tugging sharply on the strands. "Ugh, okay, that's enough out of you," she said with a sigh, recalling the Metang into its PokeBall. "You'd make a lousy hairdresser, so don't quit your day job," she murmured, looking back to Sam as she rubbed her now-throbbing head. "But yeah, Star's Surf is crazy strong. That's pretty awesome," she said, doing her best to reassure her friend.
For some reason Jasper's unease disappeared only when Miharu put that strange, metallic Pokemon back in its ball, and even Ditto-chu reemerged from his hiding place within the messenger bag, also getting the 'all clear' signal. Hands still in his pockets Jasper made his way back over to the other four trainers, his shoes making weird squishing sounds as he walked over the very wet ground. Miharu and Sam had been the clear winners, but he was just as impressed with the other two as well. The butterfly, obviously in need of anger management or something had been quite the contender, and he idly wondered where Jett had caught it. He'd also been impressed with the Gastly's sneaky moves, and Cindy the Quilava's speed, as well, and he knew that Ditto and Paras didn't stand a chance against any of their Pokemon, at least not yet.
"Okay, you all are some kind of awesome," he said earnestly as he rejoined the group. Ditto-chu nodded eagerly in agreement, his ears twitching wildly. Never before had he seen such a cool battle, and he and Jasper had watched many of them before.
The cafe wasn't overly busy, and it didn't take long for a waitress in a stylish uniform to come and take their orders. Riza ordered a hot chocolate with whipped cream and cinnamon sprinkled on top, as well as a cherry cheese danish. Having something in her stomach would help to ease the pre-contest jitters, as she knew there was no way she could eat much more than that. 'Good thing I had a late lunch,' she thought, glancing out the window. She couldn't help but wonder where Shiro was, and if he'd already gone to the Contest Hall.
She flipped a lock of her shiny black hair over a shoulder and gazed thoughtfully at the napkin dispenser as she took in Amy's question. "Well..." she started, not entirely sure how to answer at first. "It's not at all like I thought it'd be. It's kinda hard, but sometimes it's not. Like, when I had my very first battle, my Sneasel was utterly outmatched by a Beedrill and I had to rush her to the pokecenter. But other times, it hasn't been so difficult. Some battles I've won fairly easily." She reached into her bag and took out the badge case she'd received earlier, and clicked it open. "I recently won this in a gym," she said, pointing to the single glimmering badge within. "It's a Thunder Badge, and I got it for defeating Lt. Surge of Vermillion City." * * * * * "Awesome Shock Wave, Kord!" Katie called, clapping her hands. "Now finish it off with a Quick Attack!"
"Bi bii!" the Elekid cried, quickly turning into a black and yellow speeding blur as he crashed into the dazed Chatot and sent it for a tumble. When he came to a stop, Kord's chest was heaving and he was hurting from having taken all those attacks while asleep, but he wasn't out of it yet.
Miles gave his teammate a thumbs up and looked over at Katie as Alexandra recalled her fallen Chatot. "Come on, Hooty! You can do it!" she called loudly. The Hoothoot hopped back a few feet, glaring at the two Pokemon in front of him. He spread both his wings wide and let out a loud, trilling hoot as his body became engulfed in bright, white light.
"Oh no," Katie mumbled, quickly catching on to the fact that the Hoothoot was evolving. "Get ready, guys!" she called to her two Pokemon. "We're going to have to take him down quickly if we wanna win this!" The Elekid and Buizel nodded and both got in position, ready to attack the moment the Hoothoot's evolution was complete.
