"Then you should have come and talked to me the moment you knew she was gone. I could have been closer behind and protected her." Shaking his head as Hunter walked away and he grumbled under his breath then turned his attention to the big black dragon. He was always around when help was required wasn't he? "I'll leave the decision up to Kaznec. If he still wants to go, we'll go. If you trust your uncle then we'll let him handle it."

A blink as his question wasn't replied too but he still listened since he may be able to pick up something. A blink as he looked at the Seon for a moment before he shrugged. "I only have one uniform with me, I don't want it to smell." A look back to the others and he listened, then he finally heard the reason why everyone was so up and about, seemed that Bell and Gem went off. "I'll come too, it doesn't hurt to have an extra pair of hands."

It wasn't that he trusted his uncle but he wasn't going to keep standing here and arguing about it. Sylin had a point as well. If anything, Jae's camouflage would protect her and Gem's knowledge of the sands would be of help as well. Last thing they needed was to attract the attention of the Riders, especially since the ships weren't fully repaired yet and were in no condition to engage in a second brawl. ""We'll stay. Attracting unnecessary attention right now wouldn't be wise either." But what he would do is have his own eyes and ears out there, just in case. Thus Xeke was summoned and he watched the blue ball of light making a popping sound, disappearing into thin air.

A look over his shoulder, seeing if they were following but it seemed they weren't going to. Good. Thusly to the air with him, uncaring for the Riders since they indeed never bothered him. And he was bigger than the white so he'd make the distance faster through sheer power of wingbeats alone.

“Gem…out of all people you should be the worst off when it comes to your ship. Why are you so easily giving up?”

“Not so much giving up as it is taking an alternative route of plan. A plan that only I’m privy to but will become common knowledge soon enough…which is why we’re not going back to the others just yet and not staying. How much ground can you cover in a day?”

She blinked, rolling her eyes up to the human between her horns. “What do you mean ‘we’re not staying’? But I suppose…well a good fair amount of miles. Where are you trying to go?”

“I was born on the sands, my father before me a Captain himself after he left Ilindal. I took over control of his ship when he died. Renamed her, gave her a new figurehead to go with her identity and overhauled that ship to suit it to my own needs. He never intended that. ‘Jewel my girl’, he used to say, ‘You have to ride the sands on your own one day. I’ll make sure of it. Tell me my precious Gem, what would you name such a vessel.’. Meaning…the Gale Claw is not the only ship I have…nor what the Gale Claw was ever supposed to be. Yes…I’m no longer a captain at the moment, I fear mutiny of my crew and the loss of my father’s ship is devastating…but the Gale Claw will rise again…we just have to fetch such a thing.”

“And it’s way out here?”

“Within the boundries of my maps yes. Not too horribly far from where we were to make port.”

“Then why not go back to the others first, go to port and then leave from there?”

“Because I don’t need Deacon knowing of such places and information, or anyone else for that matter. This information and location is mine and you’re lucky that I like you enough to ask you to come and then not kill you so the secret remains with me. Any more questions?”

“If Kaznec and Thobias are not angry as it is…they’re going to be moreso.” She already knew that she was probably going to get a Commander-esque lecture on how irresponsible and foolish her decision had been.

She gave a dismissive wave. "Something will always upset the men. How about this...you drop me off and then you can head on back before me? I can crew a ship myself and then Fire won't be laying eggs over stress. Sharp left Ice."

She had to curb a giggle at that notion...if anyone ever said that to Kaznec, he'd be so confused or just plain logically rejecting of such the expression. But a jerk of a wing and a change in flight path as well as throwing on more speed. "Let's be quick then...I don't want to worry him too much. Er...them, worry them too much."

Fang found the Claw alright. found the figurehead missing and nothing of real value left on her, save for a decent sized haul. But that wasn't what made him stay his hand on burning her just yet. the figurehead missing is what did. they'd come back, removed just that portion, gotten personal effects perhaps. but where were they taking it. Surely Deacon wasn't going to change the figurehead of his own ship. Which meant either she wanted it for sentimental value...or she had another ship it was going on.

So a walk around a bit..dragon tracks. and dragon tracks in that direction..disturbed salt and sand from wingbeats.

"We're heading that way. if Gem has another ship, I want it."

Hunter came out of his cabin, and talked to Richards for a moment, who gave a look up at Des and motioned her down. she came down and went into Hunter's cabin with him. Richard's merely went about the casual things, though he did pay attention to the blind elf wanting to go on ahead...and went to her and tapped her on the leg lightly.

"If I could make a suggestion, I'd not be traveling alone without any supplies. at least take the time to pack some food and water, if nothing else before you go riding off into the sunset."

She swated sharply at the hand that touched her. No touching, she hated touching. Couldn't she be on her way in peace. "You underestimate me. Though your advice is somewhat appreciated in that concerning way. I know where I'm going and I can be there in a moment's notice if need be." Shaking her head before raising her voice. "Shy if you want to come, let's get going!" Brushing her hair from her face some as Chylithair had come back to land on her shoulder.

"Alright then." He'd left it up to Kaznec to make a decision and while he knew the sands, he knew Gem did too. Many times it was better to leave a comrade alone and let them fight back through it all. "They'll be back whenever they have completed what they set out to do." He knew they were at the Claw...but what they were doing, was the question. Laying a hand on Kaznec's arm, he shook his head. "I hope that little ball of yours can really help them, Kaz. The last thing we want is Fang surprising them."

She kissed Sky's forehead one last time and gave the dragon another hug. "You'll be just fine and I'll be back soon, I promise." Squeezing the dragon's hand, she ruffled Sundance's fur and then patted his side. "You'll take care of her for me and I'll come back for her." Thus, up to the deck with her small pack slung over her shoulder. "I'm coming. Okay, I'm here. We can leave."

A glance over to Thobias, who also seemed to mirror his worry, he nodded. "If anything, Xeke will keep us informed and be able to warn them of any potential threats." Not even he understood how Seons worked sometimes. But a blink and he turned back to the first mate. "Why would captain Gem go back to retrieve the Claw's figurehead by herself? It doesn't seem like her to give up on her ship this easily."

A little popping sound and he was casting blue light onto the scales by Jae's neck. "Well well, you two are in big trouble... With many people too, if I may add."

Richards gave a slight grin at Thobias.

"Well, Gem doesn't give up easy at all. my guess is she wants the figurehead for a second ship she has stashed somewhere, or is already has been in the process of building. It's no secret the Claw was her father's ship before she inherited it. Maybe she's letting it go in favor of a ship of her 'own' so to speak."

A shrug.

"Or, she isn't sure we'll make it there before Fang decides to go back and burn it, and it hoping to at least save the figurehead if we don't make it back. Figureheads are very important things, Kanzec. they are almost as defining on a ship as her name. Even Hunter has setup so his figurehead can be removed if something were to happen to the Chimera that made her unrecoverable or sand worthy. The figurehead of a ship is...like a dragon's scales. no matter what your shape or form, we know your element by the color of your scales. no matter the form a ship, you can know her name by her figurehead."

"Obsidian Brother knows the Sands. From here, his Brood." Meaning that included Laricalu. While Sylin did not particularly like Saewelquin for hwo things were with Lycear, it was trying to be unbias and practical. Sylin listened to them speculate over things, picking and choosing what information it wanted to keep and what it thought was useless or would have little weight someplace else.

Oh good, no more fighting about it with pirates. Her eyes turned to Shyrae, even if she wasn't really looking at the other elf. "Chy knows where we're going and I don't want to sit out here any longer...heading on ahead...there's more than enough crew here." Honestly...she was being hindered around here. Too many people in one place, moving too many things. Much like the reasons she never wanted to attend those social event party like things her parents had from time to time for business purposes.

Jaebelltiah was trying to stay just in the cloud line, high enough for some masking but not too high to affect Gem's breathing or bodily temperature too badly. "Are you doing alright?" She blinked as blue caught in her vision slightly before the familiar voice was there. A frown as blue reflected softly on white scales. "Big trouble? I take it the hope of just being slightly annoyed is gone? I know he's, I mean they're angry...but this is important Xeke. We're coming back...we're staying safe..."

She was huddled down, keeping warm and such as well as giving a direction. Though she also looked to the ball of light, though she couldn't hear it over the wind rushing past her ears. A knock on Bell's head though, "Double back now. This was just a throw route. Stay cloud covered."

She nodded, aware of Savvy's irritants and the things that were going on on the ship. She didn't like such close and confined spaces because things could happen and without eyes, it made it difficult to live. Not impossible, just difficult. "Then let's go." Whistling, she hopped up on Spyrit's back and took to the skies.

"That ball of light is faster than I thought...or are you just guessing?" Frowning at Kaznec, he glanced back at Richards and shook his head. "He's right about the figurehead but I don't think she has another ship stored away. She'd have told me about it if she did." Crossing his arms. "My theory goes one of two ways. She either is letting Fang have her ship but not her figurehead, thereby signaling to him that she is not defeated, or she's going to work with me and the rest of her crew and we're going to build another one. Fang will probably burn hers but if he doesn't have her figurehead, he can't claim victory over her. And that's more important than any ship."
PostPosted: Fri Feb 29, 2008 8:31 pm

Richard's nodded lightly in agreement.

"should be plenty of resources at the atoll you mentioned before to the captain. and if not I'm sure we can scavenge them from someone or someplace. I have enough trouble with Captain Deacon's ego at times. don't need the absence of Gem on the sands to make him feel more important out here."

A slight chuckle at that, before looking at Kanzec.

"Ever sailed a ship, Commander? want to learn how?"

hey, he knew when to distract someone if they needed it.

Fang was at the prow of his ship, watching the skylines carefully with his spyglass. the shift in the clouds and such might give a position. this was too dangerous for the red dragon, it had to be the white.

A look to Thobias with a small smile. "Trust me when someone says they are fast well those Seons are pretty damn fast, should be with them now." Though a pause as they were mentioning the figurehead. "I would do the same thing Gem was doing, the figurehead is valuable so just like anything that holds value to a captain it needs to be obtained." Though a pause before he leaned against the railing of the ship. "I don't think they'll have much trouble though, Jae is a lot fast then Fang's ship. It's those damn riders, but with Gem's sense of direction around these sands I believe they'll come back safe and sound, with or without a ship." A small yawn before he looked out to the sands and smiled a little. "I have always wondered what it's like to sail a large ship out here, too bad there aren't other cities where people can be ferried back and forth, maybe my family would of become sailors instead of soldiers.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 01, 2008 8:13 pm

"You strike at the white and I'll rip your ship apart...again. And make sure you won't be able to get yourself together." Fang was proving to be a flaw in his plan...the ego and self agenda of the pirate proving to be more imporant. That was not something that was going to work well. "Let the Riders take care of her...or are you content letting the other's get out of your grasp? Pretty soon...they're going to be out of your sands and you'll have nothing to show for it." Besides...knowing anything, if something happened to that white his nephew wouldn't take it well. She was drenched in his scent after all, which caused more instincual reactions to bad news. He would not have Fang mess with his nephew...besides he didn't want the son but the father to pay.

Fang looked over at the black dragon.

"It's not the white dragon I'm after. it's her companion. I want to know where they are taking that figurehead. I've no intention of doing anything more to the white dragon then I might have to to find out that information."

closing his eyeglass.

"If you want to find that out for me, by all means I'll be happy to break off chase. but removing a figurehead is a big deal to sailors. and I want to know why she did."

A slight twitch at the corners of his mouth.

"and why did you not mention Laerethe when you talked me into this bargain? that seems like something that would be important to know. a dead ally is no good. even if you have shards of that Orb."
