"Yes but you want to go home. And it's not a hard concept to follow...have the place memorized and distance measured, if you move something, move it back." Necromancer barbs. Not a smart thing...but Shyrae was a step ahead in anticipation and thus delivered a far worse punishment than what Savvy would have given. Probably would of involved wing removal and what not then grafting them onto something else like a dog for the kicks and to spite the dragoness. "Watch your tongue dragoness...or you can play my next pet." Turning with an annoyed noise and walking down the deck of the ship, covertly pulling out her cloaked little sharp compass, which gave a movement or two before settling into a direction. Well...it'd been a few hours now. Time to start spreading the information and taking the highest bid. She wasn't going to wait for Deacon's slowness or lack of interest in the matter.

Evil... Eilynne seemed to really emphasis that the Burning Prince and its captain were almost uncontrollable in their destructive ways. Hardly repentant either. He was thankful for the newfound knowledge though but knew that it wasn't wise to be biased on any of it. After all, Eilynne didn't know of Hunter's plans and the state of the Claw would likely determine the next course of action. Nodding to her, he let his mind turn onto a different subject completely, one that had been steadily infiltrating his dreams and weighing on his mind for weeks now. "My second question... is in regard to teleportation. I've noticed that you and Rahsaveer seem to be able to do it, as do the Seons, in some cases. Is it an inherent ability only you possess or can it be acquired... or learned possibly?"

It took an awful lot to surprise one like Eilynne but Kaznec managed to and the proof was plain on her face. Regaining her composure a moment later, she became thoughtful. "The Seons have many powers that are not fully known to all. It is a bit of both for my kind. We are blessed with the capability but the power and the teaching must go hand in hand. As to that, any inherently magical being can learn to do it, yes, however, it often comes with great consequences. The elven girl, companion to the necromancer, would be able to explain further about one of those very consequences. For those non-magical beings, there are items that will grant the ability for a short time, often in exchange for energy or something else in sacrifice." Pausing a moment. "Why do you ask, Kaznec? What need do you have for being in two places nearly at the same time?" Which was basically what teleportation was.

Desdemona barely flinched at the slap.

"It's not an insult. it's a fact. that little group you saw was nothing more than a scouting party. a real rider camp contains dozens, if not hundreds, of Riders. you may try your luck with a scouting party, but you'll most likely fail. at least then you might get away with your attempt. you try and a real Rider outpost, and not only will you fail, but you will be executed for it."

Desdemona got up.

"You meddle in affairs you know almost nothing about. I've been to those places, I've seen what they can do, and I've lost family to it. I don't think you've ever felt that. you play with animals and others as pets or little children. I almost hope I get to see you grow up some when everything you do doesn't work. when you get to watch someone or something close to you wither into nothing and unable to do anything but stand there and watch."

she turned on her heal and glided off the ship, down to the sands. She would love to see the girl succeed. to even prove it can be done. but she knew better. too much bitterness built up there to entertain the idea that there was something she could have done, but didn't know how to do.

Hunter came out of the cabin with maps in hand, and moved down below looking for thobias or gem. however since gem was asleep, thobias would have to do. so finding him and setting him down for a moment, opening up his maps.

"I see the atoll your had mentioned, but going there won't get us anything decent with Fang so close. he's liable to head there himself. I know of a small outpost not much farther south, it's mostly an atoll in making, but right now little more than a campground. it might be safer to try for there over the atoll at least to make a berth. we can always send smaller longboats first to the atoll to assess if Fang's around or not."

Yes, it was probably an odd question but he wanted... no, needed to know. But the answer was similar to the one he'd been expecting and he stared at his hands for a moment, trying to wrap his mind around something that he never thought he would have to. "And learning to do it would be time consuming, I assume..." And they really didn't have that amount of spare time, not to mention the consequences to the task sounded ominous as well. He had sacrificed enough but even so, Eilynne didn't really seem to be advocating it. Glancing back up at her questioning, he swallowed. "I need to go back to Ilindal... to take care of something. It would be absurd to ask the entire ship to turn back for me but... I just thought there might be another way." But maybe there wasn't. Now he really did have to contact Father.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 23, 2008 11:58 pm

She was quiet for a moment, examining his motives and studying his body language to discern the real reasons behind his rather bizarre request. "Your concern is for your father or your home?" But there were two other options. "Turning the ship around is not plausible and you recognize that dragonlord. But you have wings of your own that will easily carry your weight and see you safely back to the place you hailed from in a week's time depending on how fast and far you fly. Your Seon can also put you in direct contact with your father and bring you reports of what occurs in your hometown. Are these not viable options, Kaznec? Is there something else that you wish to find or speak of?"

Thobias shifted Gem slightly so that he could glance over the maps and then frowned. He wasn't sure if he wanted to put his faith in the place Hunter was speaking of. "Ours is out of the beds. If Fang wants the Claw, now would be his only opportunity to take it and he knows that. However, you and I both know that he probably believes every plank and nail tainted by her touch." Pausing and studying the distances. "If you believe it would be better to dock at this other place then so be it. But we must be able to reach the atoll in a short span of time. I promised Gem a bath in the bathhouses and she will be getting it. As Captain, your word is final, Deacon. I think either location would be viable at this point."

No, didn't want to divulge anything. Just wanted to ask his questions, get his answers, and get out. This wasn't him, he didn't do this. He didn't talk about it. "I am worried about both but no, that's not the issue at hand." A light shake of his head though. "A week wouldn't be plausible either and to be able to teleport somewhere, you would have to know its exact location right? It also wouldn't be responsible of me to leave everything behind for a week, especially not with Fang so close on our tail." And especially since considering how his body worked, a week would easily turn into two. "A matter I have to attend to. But my father could do it... I will talk to Xeke then."

Stubborn and secretive, not unlike herself really. She watched him for a moment and then merely nodded. Whatever it was that he needed to discover was going to take more than just brawn. She had a feeling it had to do with a female and almost asked him to confide in her. There were many things she could tell him if he only asked. "You are thinking ahead and looking at the problem from all angles. That is one of the reasons you are Commander, Kaznec. I wish you great luck in your pursuits." His closed mouth policy was dictating the way the meeting went. "I sense our time has drawn to a close. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know."

It was settled then. Meeting with Eilynne had served to cement his suspicions further and at least now he could at least tell himself that he had considered all options. Giving the Laerethe a sincere nod, he stood. "And thank you for all your answers as well. It's not easy to find a trustworthy stranger." He would continue to think about this but at least it would be answers he was holding now instead of questions. Finding a blanket from one of the more friendly pirates of the crew, he returned to the corner of the hull and finding Jae asleep, sat down against the wall. Having rechecked her bandages one final time, he glanced around to calculate something for a moment and then, deciding on the better option, shifted her slightly to rest her head on his lap and then draped the blanket over her. It was good that he rarely fidgeted in slumber, regardless of his dreams, or this positioning might even be worse for her wounds.

It had been a plan that was quickly formed and quickly put to use before anyone else had even thought to get up, save the crew watches who were told to mind their own business. “I appreciate it Ice…They may be hopeful, but I know when it’s just foolish to hope for so much.” Crouched between dragon horns as the white skimmed the sand in a glide, giving a wing beat from time to time. She knew she was hurt somewhat, but she was the only one that could do this, could blend in and was just big enough to make it plausible but not big enough to instantly pull radar.

A surprise this morning when she had woken to being prodded and convinced to slip away from her comfortable place curled up under a blanket with, surprisingly her head in Kaznec’s lap, to run what she knew was a bad idea of an errand. Every part of the strategist in her screamed for her to think twice…but at the same time, she couldn’t help but want to help Gem. It had been a quiet slip from the ship and ghosting to the sands leading back to the more white terrain of the salt beds. “Just the figure head? I could try to tow the rest of the ship…”

“No…even if I could repair her it would take forever to get the mechanics of all the specializations up to par again. She’d be a hindrance.” Maybe some quick gambling would get her a suitable replacement until she could rebuild. “This is just how it has to be. Me and mine will break in port…and maybe I’ll see you again one day Ice. You’re not such a bad dragon.”

“Enough talk of such things…we need to stay on task. The others will be worrying when they get up and both of us are gone.” Thusly putting on the speed more as the sun rose to shine on salt white scales. Just stay focused on the task and not the mental or physical ailments.

They thought they left without anyone knowing but that was impossible. The still working crew would know but fear would keep their mouth shut. She was merely up and waiting for Chylithair…whom had come back with his own news and now had been sent back out to trail the two. Not because Savvy cared if they were alright, but as to where they were going exactly…even if she already had a good idea. But her day had other plans to it that were more important than crazy captains and obligatory dragons. She had shards to secure. She’d probably get a better deal out of Kaznec anyway.

Fools. Though maybe this would get them out of his hair. Maybe the Riders would get them or Fang was still out there. Two less to worry about…and if a captain went the crew disbanded. If the white went maybe it would drive his nephew home and out of here. Save him trouble and a guilt complex. But for now, golden eyes and the large black form watched the direction the two had made off in.

Hunter went outside, and found the blind elf. he wasn't stupid either, and knew the shift in position and weight form a dragon leaving from his ship.

"Stubborn woman. So. your compass still working or does it need any last minute tweaks or the like?"

watching the sand for a minute, it would only be a matter of time before a rampaging Thobias was going to come racing up and accusing him of who knows what to Gem.

Most of his repairs were well underway by now. Fang was up with the earliest part of dawn, supervising the work and being quite forthcoming with the lash for work considered subpar. He'd let the riders wake on their own time and request further access to their records on those little shapeshifters in their legends. At least now he was pretty certain what those shards the black dragon used to moor his ship were from.

He was a little irritated when he woke up and found Gem gone but he wasn't her father or her significant other and that left her free to go where she pleased. He decided to take a walk around the ship and take roll of sorts, figure out where his men were and how they were feeling. Eventually, he wandered through the berths and found that nest where Kaznec was sleeping alone. Frowning down at the red and black dragon, he glanced around for Jae. She shouldn't be moving since she was still injured. A quick search of the ship and he kneeled down by Kaznec and jostled his shoulder. "Kaznec. Jaebelltiah and Gem are gone."

Sitting at one of the many tables in the feeding area, he glanced up and saw his human servant, as he thought of him. "What deal did you come to with Fang? The Elders are waiting."

"I need all your information on the Laerethe. and I'll trade you information from a recent encounter and deal with the Black dragon that nests around here. if my information is correct, you may want to attempt your luck at him."

glancing at the other.

"And I want any information on this Orb that gets mentioned. Other than that, what of the offered supplies are you looking to be interested in? And, how would one go about destroying something that these things of legend would make?"
PostPosted: Mon Feb 25, 2008 4:05 pm

"He lines our pockets with useful things and we give him repair items and some information. He tried to placate us with an egg...but it's an unviable one. Useless cross." He shrugged lightly, he plopped down at the table leaning back in his chair and one boot propped on the edge of the table, as he held his bowl, spooning morning hot cereal every now and then. But his attention turned to Fang as he made his prescense known. "If you want what we don't have here then you're going to have to make port for a day or two so we can get it from main base. And we don't mess with the Black." They were Riders but they weren't stupid, they knew when to leave a dragon alone....or opportunistically kill it.

Shifting his gaze from his breakfast onto Fang then. "You're ignorant to the Orb? Even we know that. It's a gift Ilindal was given to help survive the desert. Obviously they're hopeless to survive themselves...we live just fine out here. And now you're asking questions to which you aren't going to find answers."

"Oh no, it works. Tested it. Works fine." Still playing with it for a moment before tucking it away since he was so close. Last thing she needed was him attempting to snatch it...then again no one could work it without her being the wielder so it wouldn't matter anyway. Last minute tweaks like he thought she was about to hand it over. His ship had sailed. Heh, pirate pun.

"We just have to not rush and stay low. They're not looking for white scales and you blend in marvelously...if we know they're about, you can just be a salt dune for a bit of time." Huddled against a horn as she pulled out her spyglass. "Straight ahead indeed, we'll just land and check it out a moment...well, I'll check it out. You hang back some and be ready with your breath weapon and such just in case Fang left some bootlickers around."

"Hopefully that isn't the case and he's moved on looking to repair himself. His shift took quite a bit of damage. A draconic noise a moment at some slight pain but she pushed it from her mind and continued on, quickly closing in on the ship that was slumped on its side in the sand with shredded sails and splintered planking. Letting Gem down to the salt she hunkered down low to it, watching the former-captain as well as turning eyes to the aforementioned figurehead....shouldn't be too bad to get back.

"Eggs?" Scoffing and shaking his head then turning back to his food until the subject of their discussions came upon them. Seemed like he had it in hand though, so he quirked an eyebrow. "For a pirate you know very little. We agreed to give you access to what we had and that was it. If you find something of use in the records then by all means use it."
