"The point is I cause it." Shaking her head though, quickly tiring of the less than wonderful conversation they were having. She didn't like to think so lowly of herself really at all. "Don't worry about it Areesa. And despite Xeke's words he likes it when you speak your mind. He has to have someone to debate with after all." Turning her attention though then to Kaznec as he was back...and apparently had actually heard Areesa. Great. "I'm not moving around too much, was just looking for some bandaging material." Sitting as he motioned for her to though and let him do his thing. "Not as bad, I'm sure I'll be just fine. High pain tolerance."
"Something like that, though there really is no true power over the plane and such." Shrugging lightly. "I know it upsets you and you really can't do anything if she feels how she feels and wants to do something on her own, someone is eventually going to do it and everyone eventually dies." Shrruging lightly and looking to Des. "It's new, I couldn't care more or less."

"Usually, it's worse as far as...events. much more ship battles, atoll looting, things like that. but we've been having some nasty luck here. Fang, dragons, riders...it's not going overly well."
setting her bag down.
"Of course, cannonballs to the head aren't exactly helping my disposition."
Hunter was walking back when the younger crew person informed him of Gem and Thobias' plan..he gave a small nod of understanding, before getting back into his ship and going to his cabin, looking over his maps for the best place, if need by, to give the Burning Prince a look.
"Things are looking better all the time. thing go well, I'll be square with Jones, Kanzec will be out of my hair for good, and his father will still owe me and Gem safe port."

Her light brightened considerably at that and she flew around the small space quite happily. "I knew it! Knew it! Knew it! He's so funny thinking he can get one by me. Not me, I'm Areesa the Seon. I'm too smart for him. Yupperrrrssss! His little irritation is just a game. And he knows how much I like games!" Well, all was right in her little world again and she happily settled just above Kaz's knee. "Lynnie's stuff will help you with that stuff too, Bellah. Just gots to be strong again, right?"
"But if Sky goes alone then she has very little hope of surviving it. If I bring Kel over here and he dies, my mother will never forgive me but if he doesn't die and he can free these dragons then I can help them move back into the world." Shaking her head and sighing. "I suppose you could say things have been a little rough. But we're not dealing with enemies of the original voyage. We're dealing with enemies that Hunter and Gem had before we came aboard. That makes this a good voyage." Pausing a moment and glancing at Desdemona. "I have something that might null your pain if you'd like it?"

"I have some." Thus taking it out as he finished up with the cleaning part and started wrapping the gauze-like material around her stomach, layering it up nice and firm. She always seemed adamant that she could handle the pain and he supposed that was a good thing. After all, Jae wouldn't purposefully lie to him right? But even Areesa seemed to agree that things would be alright and so he kept his worrying to himself. "If you need anything else to make you more comfortable, just tell me." Finishing up, he took care of the bloody water and old bandages, then turned his gaze onto the yellow ball of light. "Areesa, do you know where Eilynne is?"

"See, it's all fun for you all." Which didn't make her feel any better, but it made the Seon feel better. But she kept her mouth shut as Kaznec wanted to make sure she was going to be okay for the night. "I will...I think I'm just going to lay down and try and get some sleep. I don't need to bother Eilynne either, she's done enough for me." Sliding off the crate and plopping herself into their nest like structure to lay back once more. Hm, finding a comfortable position was going to be hard.
"Never dull then I suppose. And your cannonball thing seems more like a personal choice problem." Crossing her arms over her chest and puffing a breath out to move her hair from her face that was irritating her. "Shyrae, I know you like to do thsoe kinds of thigns, but sometimes they're just bad ideas. Some dragons aren't going to cope well with it all or as easily as Sky. At least with the Riders they have someone to take care of them."

"that would be nice, and your friend is right. Sky is young. young enough that you were able to get her free. however, she's only around early twenties, late teens. most rider dragons in camps are well over that. closer to my or Bells age. by then...there's no helping them. they'd be better off dead then Riderless."
A small frown.
"they'll become lethargic, weak, they won't eat, they won't drink. Thier connection to thier Rider is so strong that they literally die almost of broken heart if they lose thier rider. and they'll fight as fierce as any dragon over it's hoard to stay with a rider."

"Anytime you wanna play our games, you can, Bellah. We don't mean to leave nobody out." Attention moved to Kaznec and she giggled. "I ALWAYS know where Lynnie is. It's my job." Zooming around his head. "She's up on top of the crow's nest thingamajiggie with Saveer. They like to snuggle too. Want me to tell her you're comin'? LYNNIEEEEEEE!" Thus flitting off up through the boards to find her mistress.
She didn't need Areesa's message but she came anyway, shaking her head. "There is no need to yell, Areesa." Settling on the upper deck on the opposite side from where the elves and Desdemona were speaking, she waited calmly for Kaznec. "Dragonlord. Your spirit is not quiet. Sit and I will see if I can soothe your fears."
Handing over the vial of medication, she shook her head. "It's never too late to train an animal. They can be taught to serve a new master just like they can be taught to understand a new command and a new lifestyle. But they left their Riders easily enough when they helped us earlier. Perhaps I'll speak with others and see their opinion as well." Turning her gaze to Desdemona. "You were trapped and learned to adapt. There is still hope."

"Alright, you rest. I'll try to find a blanket from somewhere." Because bandages or not, not good to leave wounds exposed like that and it felt like nighttime would be cool. Turning attention to Areesa then, he followed the Seon topdeck where he found Eilynne waiting. As ever, she seemed to know what he was thinking. Just like Sylin often did, all ambiguous in language as well. "I have two questions for you. First, I've been told that the Burning Prince and its captain are not simply a legend of the sand seas. Are you aware of that and do you have any information about them?"

"Remember how Sky acted when you killed her rider? It's loyalty that holds those dragons there and nothing else. That's all one needs after a time." Giving a sniker. "No sense in trying to talk her out of it Des, she has her mind made up and it's hard to sway and Inthara's mind. It's just how they are, hardheaded every single one of them." There was no point in arguing here. It would be like someone telling her she couldn't raze a village just because she wanted to, because there were children there and they were 'innocents'. Mhm, yeah. "Well, tell Kelligrin when you're sure. No sense in getting him excited." She didn't like having him around her to much personally...he moved things all the time.

"It's not about being trapped. it's about being mentally dependant. the breed, batter, condition them to be little more than infants if they have any reasoning at all. like a newborn without a parent, they die. they can't feed themselves, they can change form, they can't survive alone. not even with other dragons."
taking the offered medication and downing it without a fuss.
"Before I met Hunter, or became a pirate, I was a rogue out in the sands with my family. I know how riders hit and how they strike because they took my family clan away. I got some back...after many years of trying, saving, scrimping to buy supplies. by then..they didn't recognize me. they didn't even know what I was."
a frown.
"I got a few back. I showed them thier old homes, tried to teach them to speak again, to change, to even eat properly. they just wouldn't. they just lay witht he tack, or woudl dig it up if I buried it, and that's all. until they withered away, one by one. I couldn't feed all of us on what I could catch or buy. and you can only try and force so much food or drink."

"Then we'll simply free the younger ones. The ones who are like Sky. With certain blessings and a bit of help, I'll be able to distinguish ages and who would be willing to leave." Nope, Desdemona wasn't going to deter Shyrae now that she'd found something to do. "I will. If he's been home this time, he's probably driving my brother crazy. You know how they get sometimes." Rolling her eyes at that and sighing softly. "Would you come with me, Sav? It won't take very long."
"You have been told correctly and yes, I am aware of the cursed human, however, he does not claim nearly the notoriety the legend states. He angered the goddess and, as such, is now forced to wander the sandseas until he learns his lesson. I do not know what he did to anger her and neither does anyone else for sure. He is forbidden to speak of such things lest he anger the Goddess further and postpone his eventual pardon." Clasping her hands in her lap. "His curse has turned him into one capable of great evil. He has ignored the pirate's cherished code for many years now and will steal and destroy without a thought. Dealing with him is most unwise unless you are craftier than he. Caution is best when considering anything with his name concerned."

She had studied those laws, she knew these things intimately. Though she did smirk as Shyrae was still undeterred and only came up with an alterior plan. The girl certinally got points for trying now didn't she? "Mm yes...Inthara boys. More trouble than you ever ask for." Blinking then. "Go with you? If I show back up home, my parents are going to tie me to a chair and not let me leave....I'm not ready for a break Shy. Besides, you're the one doing the convincing...and your brother moves things." Frown.

Eilynne had background information. This was good, at least now he was a bit more informed and it was always important to learn the motives and the ways of your enemy. "Capable of great evil but also holding much power, some perhaps as valuable as your own. He seems human to me but acts as if he is a god and the implied rules of society do not apply to him." Which was an issue in itself because even if he made a deal with Jones, there would always be the possibility of him going against his word. How would they be able to guarantee otherwise? Worrisome indeed. But a moment in thought later and he glanced back up to the Laerethe. "His ship can... disappear beneath the sands and reappear at will? Have there been any recent sightings?"

looking over at her and her blind friend.
"So, when you do die, is your friend going to keep you as a pet?"
Hunter marked a few places on the map, and charted the distance between their present location and the location of the atoll that Gem and Thobias' errand boy gave him. He'd cheated one method of Jones to claim him, but there were other methods that he couldn't cheat. and the longer this trip got, the bigger the chances of the other methods being his undoing.
But if he could work this right, he could trade in Kanzec, clear his debt, and keep even keel with Gem. get Kanzec's support through the trip, betray him in the end, and get what he wanted while forcing Lycear to hold his bargain and not having to worry about the Commander of the Guard watching his every footstep.
Fang put down the other books, casually dismissing the other stories about the Burning Prince. they knew nothing of that man. or used to be man. there was no being on the sands more dangerous the Jones. which was why fang was intent on finding a certain item to use against that cursed captain and through that power rule the entire sandsea.
But first, he'd have to deal with the Chimera, the Claw, and those dragons...both black and others. and that creature. but once that was taken care of, it would be back to easy pickings and his searching.

"He believes he is. His arrogance knows no bounds because the Goddess has yet to return and make any overture towards him. He has been left to his own devices and through it has become far too evil. He appears to watch death. Like a vulture intent upon the carcass, his ship will rise with the dawn, celebrate with his bones crew, and slip beneath the sands like it is a part of it. The Burning Prince can be summoned but it takes the destruction of a ship to do so and is not wise. He strikes without any thought for he believes himself to be invincible, which he is most assuredly not."
She'd been afraid she'd hear that very answer. "Yes, I'm a little worried that my parents, at least my mom, might try the very same thing. She was so worried when I left..." Shaking her head and then patting her friend's shoulder. "He just doesn't understand your method of getting around. If he did, he wouldn't move things anymore."
Desdemona got a glare at that one and Shyrae reacted fast so Savvy wouldn't rip her to pieces. Slapping the dragon full across the face, she shook her head. "If you have such derogatory things to say, keep your silence. Your help was appreciated, there is no need to insult anyone here. If you think me foolish, laugh behind my back when your prediction comes true but do not make this out to be some sort of a game."
