So happy to find this guild! I just joined. I'm in Symphonic band at my Middle school, playing flute and piccolo.

umm, Double tounging is Ti-Ki or Tu-kuh and triple tounging is Tu-Gu-Du (like I was taught anyways) TO finger a high D umm, I'm not sure which one you mean but this fingering chart is pretty awesome, my assistant band director gave me one and it's really helpful. http://www.gemeinhardt.com/pdf/fluteFingering.pdfHope I was of some assistance!! I miss being in band so much! Graduated high school almost two years ago now, and I'm slowly wasting away without band! PLUS the flute I was using (and did not want to give back... it was a Gemeinhardt, open-holed, sterling silver head piece... gorgeous!) had to finally be returned (it belongs to a friend of mine) so now I'm totally flute-less. Well, no... I guess I still have my flute, but I'll admit that's thing's a piece of tin. It's been fixed I don't know how many times and it just keeps on breaking. I'm going to my sister's Christmas concert tomorrow... her band concerts are always heart-breaking for me! Especially the Christmas one... I know they'll be playing Celtic Carol... when I was in school, I had the piccolo solo in that song! And my sister told me the flute playing it (there's not even a piccolo doing it!!!) isn't even very good! I'm afraid I might cry.... crying

hi everyone
im new to this guild and im a flute player. i also do colorguard and winterguard but thats another story. biggrin
ive been playing flute since 6th grade im now a junior in high school.
im not the best sweatdrop but i try my best. heart my school has fourteen flutes all girls except for one. im usually sixth thru eighth chair.
we had our christmas concert yesterday and as i was standing there
watching royalty taking pictures i had the urge to crying cry.
one and a half more years of my band family, then we will go our separated ways. cry

Apparantly the flute is too "feminine." *shrugs* This is my observation, anyways. Go you for playing the flute! =D

Hey!! ^^
Im new to tis guild, but i play teh flute and teh piccollo and i've played flute for about 6 year, picollo for 1!
^^ m in alot of different bands, enembles and some concert bands too, even thought im only in 3rd year of high school ^^ YAY ME!! xD
The good thing is, there are boys and girls who play the flute in my school, although there are only about 6 players....
anyway.. GO TEH FLUTE!! heart

Please tell me you guys aren't dumb. It's a huge stereotype, and where I live, it's fairly true. All the smart flutes graduated.
How much do you guys hate the 'one time, at band camp,' joke? Loathing...
