For a moment, there was no answer, but just as Favian raised his fist to knock again, there was a click and the door opened. Luk appeared in the doorway, brushing his blond hair out of his eyes using his fingers.

"The grand tour, I see," he remarked dryly to Favian.

The mocha-skinned elf chuckled. "They've got news for you, Luk. Good news."

Luk raised one blond eyebrow. "Oh?"

Lin thought about it, it was just a lot to take in, and honestly how does one suddenly tell another person that their half-sister is alive? Especially when it was so far fetched to begin with?

She hated to sound so horribly blunt, but there was simply no better way of putting it.

"You have a sibling that is still alive," she finally settled on, "Her name is Arthael and she lives in a place called Haven. The reason why I'm saying this is because earlier I had asked Lord Favian if there had been any elves from here who traveled eastward. Arthael has brown skin and skin just as dark as his, but she never knew her father and didn't really know her mother, a Light elf who died in childbirth. The only people he could think of was your parents, your mother was a Light elf and your father was half Earth elf, which was Lord Favian confirmed that she is your sibling."

Luk blinked when Lin told him that he had a sibling, and he listened very carefully to her explanation to see if it could be true. And he had to admit, upon hearing all of it, that it seemed very plausible indeed.

"Nine hundred and forty three years I've been waiting and wondering," he murmured, "knowing in my heart that they were dead ... and after nine hundred and forty three years ... I have a sibling? A sister?"

There was confusion in his eyes, and he stepped aside, holding the door wide. "Come in," he murmured. "Please."

Stepping in, Lin understood it was a lot to take in. Seriously, she was not use to all these connections happening like this. There were just so many it was hard to keep track of.

Miyuki was looking around curious as ever as she set Senka down.

Inside the house was not quite as picturesque as the outside, but it was still somewhat quaint. There were two rooms in it: one large room with a small kitchen, a table and four chairs, and a hammock between two posts. The other room seemed to be a bathroom of sorts: but rather than having a bath tub, it had something that more resembled a shower.

"Go on, take a seat," he invited them, even though there weren't enough seats for everyone. He stood against the counter and looked at Lin. "What can you tell me about my half-sister? What is her name again?"

That was one thing he had missed, it being an unfamiliar name and all.

"Arthael," Lin repeated, "She spent some time in the Southland army, during the last war she lost the sight in one eye and so she left after the war ended. The Four Lands for many generations in the past had a problem with children being kidnapped to be slaves. A place called Haven was created to save the children, and Arthael signed up as a fighter. She later on married a Light elf named Halmir, he too is a fighter. They have a son named Timaeus, and he also started his own family, having married Alyse and having two daughters Jasmine and River."

She paused and wondered what were they doing now that there wasn't a slavery issue.

"Things are at peace now, there had been a final push to end the slavery far over a decade ago now. They're still at Haven, but I don't know what will happen to it now that Haven as a refuge isn't needed anymore. They still have the horse trade there, so who knows... Maybe it'll become a small village or something."

Luk nodded through Lin's explanation. There were a lot of names to remember, but he supposed he would learn them eventually. It felt good ... he had a half-sister, and he now knew something about her ... but it still seemed so vague ...

"If I may," Earendil spoke up cautiously, "on Amon Darthir is someone who grew up with your sister, and who knows her quite well. That was our destination, until we were detoured here ... but if my calculations are correct, this place is not so far off our route back home. If you would like to come with us, you could find out a lot more about her. Or if you don't mind being gone for quite a bit longer, you could even return to the Four Lands with us and meet her and her family yourself."

Luk looked at Earendil thoughtfully. If not for his duties as a senator, he would have accepted on the spot.

That would be wonderful, even though Lin knew that Luk had duties here so it might not be possible. Still, it was a nice thought, she was sure Arthael would like that.

Miyuki who had missed it all because she was playing with Senka trotted over to her parents. She looked up at Luk wondering what was going on.

Luk smiled down at Miyuki, then looked over at Favian. "What do you think?" he asked him quietly.

Favian smiled back at him. "If I were you, I wouldn't give up the opportunity to find my family for anything," he replied. "Bring it to the Senate. See what they say. If they're willing to let you go for an indeterminate amount of time."

Luk nodded. "I will." He smiled at his guests again. "I ... really don't know what to say," he admitted. "I really never expected anything like this."

"Life has a way of making the unexpected happen," Lin shrugged like this was a normal thing.

Well, to be honest it was a normal thing that something this incredible would happen. Really she should stop being surprised after a while.

"Unexpected is not always good," Luk replied softly. "Though I have to admit, of the surprises life has held for me, this is among the better ones."

"Luk, we should gather the Senate quickly," Favian spoke up. "If you are going to be going with them, you will have to be ready in an hour."

Luk nodded. "Right. All right then." He passed one hand over his face. "Maybe on the trip I'll get a decent sleep," he muttered. He opened the door for everyone again, motioning for them go step out again. "Come, by the time we gather everyone and see if it's all right if I go, it won't be long before it's time to leave. They'll be making sure that your ship is ready quickly."

Miyuki quickly picked up Senka and hurried out the door, this was important and if he was allowed to he was going to come with them! For some reason she equated this to being less lonely.

"You haven't been sleeping well?" Lin hadn't been aware exactly how much commotion their arrival had caused.

Luk waved the question off as everyone headed back outside again. "I'm usually out at night. So when I lay down to sleep, I end up with people knocking on my door."

"You could put a sign up," Favian quipped. "People would get the hint."

"They need a guide," Luk replied simply, closing the door behind himself. "Now come on, we have to hurry."

Miyuki followed close along side her ada as the grown ups headed back.

"Then you need a vacation," she told him.

That's what other adults sometimes said when they worked too much.

Luk laughed at that. "Yeah, a vacation would be nice," he agreed. "But we'll see what the Senate decides. Come on, quickly now."

He started back down the path towards the city, walking so quickly he was just about running.

Earendil reached for Miyuki's and Lin's hands and started after him, but Favian held up one hand to slow him.

"He is in a rush, but we are not," he murmured. "We can go at a slower pace."
