After a few more minutes of searching, the man apparently grew tired of looking and turned to start down the alley way. From there he simply walked down the street as if he'd done nothing but take a short cut through the narrow pass.
After he was a few feet from the building, he stopped and hailed down a taxi. Once it stopped, he made no hesitation to get in. A moment later, the car pulled away from the curb and started heading down the street. Towards an area with even more expensive places of business.

The cab came to rest in front of a bank this time. After a few minutes, the man left the cab and walked inside as the cab rolled away. About seven minutes later, the man walked back out and carefully made his way to the back of the building. There, he proceeded to do the same thing he had for the last store. Just looking at all possible exits, then jotting a few notes down on his pad.

Since there weren't as many possible exits as the previous building, the man didn't take long to finish whatever it was that he was doing. Walking back out into the street again, he hailed another taxi and headed off towards the outer part of the city.

When he got out this time, he was outside a low-rent apartment complex. Casually, he strode up the small stairs and disappeared inside the building.

After a few moment's the man arrived at his room on the second to last floor. He closed and carefully locked the door behind him, then tossed his hat onto a nearby chair. He pulled out his notes from his pocket and discarded the coat in the seat as well.
Carefully, he flipped through the small book and made his way over to a desk sitting by the window. There he plopped himself down and pulled out a binder full of other notes. He sat the small book on his lap, then flipped the binder open and scattered a nice pile of photos and papers about the desk. All of banks, jewelry stores, big places to score money. Places inside Gotham, New York, Central City, and other big places.

He really didn't pay much attention out the window either. Kept his nose in his work, and bit down on the wood of an eraserless pencil.

Meanwhile, inside the room, the man puzzled over the papers in front of him.

Most of the big-name heroes were missing. They had to be. Even with as quick and stealthily these robberies were, SOMEONE would have caught onto them by now. Maybe there was something even bigger going on. Something that made robbing banks and jewelry stores repeatedly with no sound...have as much priority as dirt on a sneaker.

Over fifteen big-time businesses in all of the cities around. All of them at least five times. And no ones noticed. No one sees it happening, and the patrons and customers are too scared shitless to even acknowledge that they'd been robbed.
He couldn't see how they got away from the store anyway. Anyone could have seen them get away. So....how?

The man puzzled for a while longer, then sighed and stood from his chair. He then moved away from the window and out of sight. Nearly three minutes after he had moved from the window, there was a sudden and brief flash of green light from the area he had moved towards.

I guess if they had anything on him as of right now, it would be that he's a snitch / informant / reporter / etc... ///
