Yokohana stared in shock, "I-I think my obi is on to tight, correct me if I'm wrong but...Did you just say that I'm to become a geisha!?" She asked slipping to her knees at the thought, She was going to be a geisha!? Her?

"Yes, Yokohana, that is correct!" Yokome said, excited. "I've been observing your progress as a maiko and I think the time is right!" Yokome smilied.

Yokohana flet the wind nearly being sucked out of her, and in a moment her arms were around Yokome's waist. "Arigatou onee-san!"

"I'm so happy for you sister. You are finally gettng what you've hoped for all this time." Akyio said happly. I can't believe that she's finally becoming a giesha. I'm so happy for her. She really deserves it. Akyio thought as she congratulated her sister.

"Thank you Akiyo-chan..." Yokohana stood nearly wanting to jump up and down squeeling that she was to be geisha. "W-Well...what d-do I do for now?" she asked Yokome.

ChunChe was aware that a conversation was taking place in the onee-san's chamber; she could hear the murmur of voices from upstairs. She paid it no mind-until ChunChe jumped at the sound of a high voice thanking another unseen person in the onee-san's chambers. Apparently, this particular person was happy. After that, the words were again indecipherable. Chunche hated to be nosy, so she thought it best not to go rushing up the stairs and barge in on the onee-san. Still, such a joyful reaction couldn't bypass ChunChe's notice. "Kiku, did you hear that? What is going on? What's the good news?"
However, ChunChe had a feeling that the news would be coming to her soon enough.

Kiku brought her cup up to her lips and smiled.
"dance classes hmm....I think once you become a maiko you go to the school down the street. I think i passed it coming this way my first day here. If you want i could give you a head start and show you a few things later tonigt if you want."
Kiku smiled wistfully at the thought of the chase with her flower hair pin that had led her to the okiya when she got lost.
At the sound from the front door opening kiku almost dropped her cup.
"Oh, the other head geisha is home....i think...to tell you the truth i haven't met her yet." kiku smiled sheepishly and went to go grab another tea tray from the kitchen. Bringing the tray back kiku filled it up with tea and a few goodies. Kiku's eyes raised as she heard the voices upstairs get louder and louder. Looking to chunche she smiled."I don't want you to get in trouble so i'm gonna go snoop arou--- oh i mean bring them some tea!" Kiku smiled schemingly at chunche before she grabbed the tray to go upstairs.
It wasn't hard trying to figure out which room was the source of the noise. approaching the door kiku knocked lightly and slid it open. Stepping into with the tray in her arms kiku felt the eyes of the other women on her. kiku started to get slightly nervous but with a smile she greated the women.
"Koban-wa and welcome home!!! I'm Kikuhito Futago and current senior maid in the okiya. I would be most honored if you would call me kiku. Here is the tea you asked for and if you get hungry dinner was prepared just a few minutes ago and is waiting in the dinning room." Kiku bowed deeply and with a small smile began setting up the tea things on the low table in the room.

"Well i hope that your debut as a giesha will be soon. But won't you need new kimonos since the ones you have are for maiko?" Akyio asked. If she gets to go shopping i would love to go with her. I remember that my sister taught me to color corodinate the right kimono.... Oh I also have to make flower arrangements for her. I hope she likes them. "Sister what are you favorite flowers?"

Placing the rest of the last of the tea things on the low table kiku bowed and backed out of the room sliding the door closed. Immediatly after closing the door kiku's face broke into a wide grin.
so....a new geisha huh...i have to tell chunche!
kiku ran down the stairs as quick as possible and raced into the dinning room. "Chunche chunche I know the great news!!!" Kiku ran over to sit beside chunche. "You know yokohana, that young maiko that just walked in...well i guess she has filled are her requirements and will be soon debuting as a geisha!" Kiku's face broke into a wide grin as she waited for chunche's reaction.

Yokome hugged her sister back and she said with a smile, "You can make your debut as a geisha whenever you wish, and you will also have to think about who you would want to take on as a younger sister." Yokome paused and then said, "You will get your hair done in a new style and amoung other thing, the collar on your kimono will change color."

Yokohana nodded as she was told this by Yokome, "I see...Humm...Thank you Onee-san, But for the moment I think I need to take a nap, or I'm sure I will fall over soon from the wight of this obi!" She joked giggleing lightly.

"Well since you are becoming a giesha you should have fresh flowers in your room to celebrate." Akyio responded and then turned to her older sister. "I was wondering if there would be anyway for me to give my sister a gift for all the great work she has done? I was wondering if i could get her a jade comb for good luck?" Akyio asked.

Yokohana went to her room and knelt before the mirror, lightly she pulled at the strands of her hair, letting the strands fall around her shoulder, qucikly her nimble fingers went to the thick hair and it was now in a loose neat braid.
Next she would be washing away her make up, the cloth felt nice and warm and she pulled the thick white paste like make up off and her eye conected to the dark tanned skin, it was still a deep ivory, but it seemed so much darker compared to her make up.
She was exstied, this would be the last time that she would have to wear such thick make up unless she was in any speical dances in the hanamachi. Her hand went to the mirror traceing her image, a light smile on her face, her refection...
Was the reflection of a geisha.

"Yes, Yokohana, take a short rest and take in the fact that you are now a geisha" Yokome said happily.
After Yokohana left to rest, Yokome turned to Akiyo. "It would be a wonderful idea to get Yokohana a comb as a gift for her debut." Yokome said. She quickly went into her room and opened a small wooden box on her desk. She took a small silver coin and went over to Akiyo and placed it in her hand. "This should be enough for you to buy Yokohana a comb, please take it." Yokome said with a smile.
