"That in itself would make it harder to adjust," Elnara pointed out. "Having so much to do, going to where you have no work to do. I mean, have you ever just ... sat and relaxed before? Not doing anything?"
It wasn't as if she had, but ... she knew from his assistants, as well as her own observations of him, that he was always busy doing something.

"Well.... I've sat and read just for the sake of reading," Lore offered, "Does that count?"
Seriously, how could just one just sit and lay there? Well he didn't know.. quite yet.

"I'm afraid not," Elnara laughed. "I mean a vacation. But no matter."
She pulled a stray strand of hair back from her face and tucked it behind her shoulder. "How long do you think we should stay?" she asked him curiously. "I understand you don't want to leave the library for too long ..."

"I don't know," Lore replied back thoughtfully, "Since time flows differently here, I don't know how long we can stay here, since I know I have the day off from the library, but I don't know if knowing that helps any."
He didn't know how long they could stay, only that it could be quite a while before anyone notices.

"From past experience," Elnara offered hesitantly, "a day back home is about a month here. If you'd like that. I know Ulani could use some help, though I don't know if the children would make things more difficult instead, and I'm sure Ulrich would love the company. Their niece and nephew live in the valley as well, but even so they rarely see them, and never anyone else."
Though a month was quite a long time, really. Even just a week or so would be nice, she thought. Perhaps two.

Lore mused on this, "I suppose.... though a month is a very long time," he hated to admit.
Even though it made no difference he wasn't sure if he could stay a month here.

"I was thinking the same," Elnara admitted. "But a week or so isn't too bad, is it? Perhaps you might find something here to write about, I know you like writing."
And Elnara knew there were things here that were very different from Gaia, perhaps he might like to do his own bit of research on it while they were here.

Lore nodded at that, it sounded good to him, "Yes, a week or so here would be a good change."
He hadn't thought about what if there was something he wanted to write, but that was a good idea.

"And then back to the bustle of Gaia," Elnara smiled as they reached the porch, climbing the steps silently. She opened the door for them and led the way inside again.

Inside, the kitchen table was set for dinner. Though the sun was already set, dinner had been missed. It had been ulrich who had prepared the meal this time though, but that didn't mean it was any different from any other meal. It was still a roast of venison with salad on the side, as well as a fresh loaf of bread - though, to be fair, Ulani had made the bread that morning.

Stepping in, Lore looked for the children, knowiing they had rushed ahead, as well as for their hosts. He could smell the food from where he was, and it reminded him that even though there was a time difference, it still had been a while since he ate.

The children were all sitting around the table already, the smaller ones sitting on the laps of the elder children, all of them already enjoying their dinner.
Elnara let go of Lore's hand and moved to one of the empty seats, between Celebor, who was holding Idhril, and Serenity, who was holding Storm.

Lore took one of the other empty seats next to the children, it looked like everyone was having a good time he mused. Which was a good thing of course.

"Mama," Idhril murmured as Elnara sat down next to her, "I'm sleepy." And she yawned as if to punctuate her words. Her golden eyes were half-lidded, and she was laying against Celebor's chest, more than just sitting on his lap.
Elnara nodded and patted her daughter on the head, glancing up at Ulani and Ulrich.
"I know we didn't give any warning that we would be coming," she said hesitantly, "but ... could you tell us where we'll all be sleeping? I think most of the children should be going to bed soon ... if not all of them."
Celebor was the only one, actually, who didn't look as if he were about to fall asleep right then and there, though of course Storm and Starr would never admit it. They didn't like going to bed, for some reason.

Ulrich and Ulani exchanged a glance. They had only two rooms that were available for guests ... and they had eight guests to give room to.
"Well," Ulani suggested hesitantly, "we have ... a double bed and a single bed ... hmm ..."
"What if Lore and Elnara were to take one room, and the children the other?" Ulrich suggested - completely innocently, figuring that Lore and Elnara's relationship was like Kara and Donovan's ... that they slept together, but didn't "sleep" together.
