Meanwhile, at the temple, a shout of warning echoed through the charged halls. The first wave of those arriving by air had arrived up above, the cries of battle echoing through the halls. Lucretia nodded, "And so it begins," she stated solemnly, gazing up at the ceiling, where armored bootsteps could be heard ringing out against the stone.
She looked to those who had remained in the room, "We must guard Lymsley's room at all costs, follow me!" she shouted, hefting her large tome over her shoulder as she ran from the room, followed by many who were along there with her.
The hallways weren't faring any much better, many of the invaders bringing along rock types and fighting types to break apart the very walls and doors of the place, rubble littering the ground in many places, evidence as to what had happened.
A group of soldiers met those who were exiting the room, each reaching for their Pokemon at their sides as they faced off against the defenders.
"You don't stand a chance!" one shouted, issuing his Claydol forward. Another beside him smirked, sending out his Leafeon. Other Pokemon followed suit, armed soldiers backing them up as the group charged.
"You're outnumbered, out matched, and not trained at all in battle. What hope do you have of succeeding?"
The Claydol charged towards Kaya, Leafeon alongside it.

The rush of the cold water was almost enough to cause Brayden to black out again right then and there. But he gripped, Cye's spines tightly, not willing himself to give into the sudden chill. Cye was through the water in a brief moment, the next second gripping the hull of another vessel, climbing up as fast as he could to get Bradyen to dryer ground. He was feeling a bit dizzy, but since the contact with the water was brief, Brayden was able to summon Gin'iro alongside Cye, the Ninetails' warmth drying Brayden considerably, although he was a bit tired.

The ships, in the meantime, had made it closer to the shore, where another batch of townspeople were gathered, waiting and ready. The vessel Brayden found himself aboard was the command ship itself, and was literally teeming with soldiers. A few other water-mounted troops had already begun their work here, and many of the other ships alongside the command ship were in a similar state as the first one, mastless and listing without any way to control their approach, they remained dead in the water while the soldiers on board fought for control.
The command ship wouldn't be deterred by the same methods as before, though. Its armored hull deflected many of the attacks that had crippled the lesser ships, and the barrage of arrows and lightning did little to the ship but cripple its crew.
Which were many.
The large vessel was charging towards the shore with abandon, its course steering straight for the shoreline and closing ground fast. Atop the bow of the ship, stood a man clad in black armor, covering much of his body, and concealing his face. A few soldiers grouped around him as he reached for his belt, summoning a Skarmory, its own natural hide competition enough for the mighty armor that clad the leader.
The Skarmory shrieked, flapping eagerly as Valsindar climbed aboard his Pokemon, sheathing the giant sword that he held onto his back.
It was time to fight for real.
The Skamory took off, sending water flying in every direction, as Valsindar sped towards the temple, many soldiers following the same route.
The command ship hit ground roughly, and soldiers poured from its hold, swarming the banks with a sharp cry.

As the vessel ran aground, Brayden was jolted from his feet upon impact, the wind escaping him for a moment as he struggled to regain his footing. A clawed hand picked him up easily, righting him, as he smiled up to Cye.
"Thanks," he beamed, to which the Feraligatr only shrugged. It wasn't as if Brayden hadn't ever come to his aide, why shouldn't he repay the favor every once in a while to his somewhat clumsy trainer?

Nona nodded to Dominic, looking to the ship. "Well...here goes nothing...I was hoping...could you hover me over ontop of the ship's deck? Like where Brayen is...erm...was..." At this point, Brayden was sent into the water on accident.
Dominic attempted to, and barely made it over (for the sake of speed), right about the time the blows hit him.
"Don't take it, hun! Fight it off!" Nona called out Rhapsody to help as well. Rhapsody looked to both of the pokemon, then at Dominic. The two seemed to nod at eachother, Dominic heading off to get the Absol and Rhapsody the Hipmontop.
Dominic blasted it with a gush of wind from his wings, knocking it over and into the pole that held the crow's nest. He used supersonic afterward, and chuckled as he watched the Absol stumble off in the wrong direction.
Rhapsody took a more...fun approach. She would appear next to the Hitmontop, lick it, and fade away again. Over and over and over. And over. Until the pokemon fainted in fear at the sound of her saying, "HAUNT!" (BOO!)
Nona shifted her weight a little, too, as the ship ran aground, too. She spotted Brayden, and smiled. He seemed a little wet...but otherwise alright. Well, she did what she said. She made sure Brayden didn't get hurt too badly.

On the shore, the battle was raging in full, as the Skarmory took flight, bringing Valsindar to the temple. However, on the beach, things were doing well for the defenders. Knowing the ground they were fighting on was definitely a benefit to those who were fighting, as they drove back the invading soldiers, with the aide of ground types, who dug up the beach into a veritable trench system, hidden with traps, pitfalls, and dead-ends that blocked the soldiers from pressing towards the temple, leaving them easy prey for the townspeople, who knew every twist and turn of the trenches.
Valsindar sneered, glancing over his shoulder at the soldiers, who didn't really get it through their skulls that it would be easy to simply climb out of the trenches with the help of their own Pokemon.
Worthless, the whole lot of them, came the familiar voice to Valsindar's mind. The leader chuckled, shaking his armored head with a small smirk.
"They do serve their uses," he commented offhandedly.
For what, fodder? came the retort. This time Valsindar did laugh outright, as the Skarmory landed on the temple rooftop with a cry, immediately bringing up his wings to block the barrage of arrows aimed at Valsindar.
"Thanks, Tarath," he patted the steel bird's head, who nodded curtly, depositing Valsindar safely on the rooftop, continuing as his shield as he drew the great sword strapped to his back.
"I'll teach you the meaning of fear," he sneered, charging forward and engaging the first line of soldiers.

The temple was still in chaos, although the defenders were doing fairly well in hindering the progress of the invaders, most of the battles occurring on the outer levels of the temple, the invaders not getting too far before being stopped in their tracks by the stubborn townspeople.
However, the tides changed as soon as Valsindar landed on the rooftop. The sword fragment in Kaya's bag was nearly humming with pleasure. This was what it enjoyed the most, the thrill of chaos and corruption was definitely interesting to watch, but all the more lovely to be the cause.
The complete sword clutched in Valsindar's hands was singing a similar tune, sweeping easily through the weapons and defenses of the townspeople, seeming sharp enough to cut through the very stone foundations of the temple as he began his slow but steady search for Lymsley.
There were only wounded and dead left in his trail.

On the beach, the battle was wrapping up for the most part, although both sides had casualties. Craig came up beside Brayden, nodding to the younger trainer, "You did well. We managed to cripple a third of the ships heading towards shore. The battle on the water is pretty much wrapped up."
Indeed, many of the battleships lay crippled and floundering in the water. A few soldiers swam towards shore, but were easily stopped by those waiting along the sands of the beaches.
Roog and Rahal joined alongside them, Gyarados and Milotic following along behind them, looking a bit worse for wear, but definitely not out of the fight yet. "Captain, the prince spotted Valsindar, it looks like he's headed to the temple. Shall we pursue him?"
"Indeed," Craig nodded, "I think we can leave things here to wrap up. After all, our goal is for hit-and-run techniques, to distract the enemy. We've accomplished the desired confusion to the enemy here, it would be best to assist those left in the temple."

Valsindar cut down the last soldier guarding the hall with a smirk. This was all to easy.
"But where's the fun in that?" he inquired, adjusting the helmet absently, staring at the glowing orb in the center of the sword's guard.
Definitely not worth it if there's not a ton of chaos along with it, the voice returned, sounding quite smug.
"Shall we give them something interesting?"
But of course...
Valsindar sneered, raising the sword without a word, then driving it suddenly into one of the fallen soldiers littering the floor.
The sword screeched with a keening sound that almost could be interpreted as laughter, as a flash of power surged through the blade. A tremor ran underground, shaking the beach furiously, sending enemy and allies flying.
Thunder crackled overhead, a storm breaking, as a drizzle kicked up, lightning flickering across the sky in a chaotic dance that suddenly took the performance earthward, striking a scorching arc into the sands, melting much of it right down into glass, glowing red from the heat.
At that moment, an angry roar rose up, from both the crater created by the lightning strike, as well as the figure in front of Valsindar. An insubstantial form at first, seemingly made from the very shadows of the night, the two figures fell to the ground, each heading to their destination.
One headed to intercept Brayden and Nona, as well as the other mounted riders, from their approach to the temple. The other searched easily through the castle, for Valsindar's goal.
A giant figure rose from each shadow-creature, solidifying to a strangely deformed monster. Its very core of existence corrupted and infected by the sword's influence.
The one facing Brayden and Nona roared again. Whatever it had been before, it seemed to be some type of soldier, as it wielded a giant lance that could easily cleave through three men and still have plenty of room left.
In front of Kaya now, blocking the doorway, was a large blob that seemed to fill the whole corridor behind it, its puke-worthy dark bluish-purplish-black body writhing as it started to fill into the room Kaya and his Pokemon were in. Feeling the tendrils of energy from the sword fragment in Kaya's bag, the creature created from the completed sword was intrigued, as was the sword itself, who was controlling the creatures actions. Another enemy to kill, it seemed, but one that might have something in his possession that was interesting enough to search his person afterwards.

At that moment, another angry roar came from where Brayden had just nodded to Craig's request to regroup and rejoin the battle at the temple, and Brayden’s head shot quickly in that direction, searching for the source of it through the dust and dots and drizzle in the air. The rain stung, that was for sure, but he hoped that he could get back inside before it caused too much of a problem. Which would have to be soon, he realized.
The dark silhouette of a strangely deformed monster was slowly appearing before him and Brayden took an involuntary step back, recalling Gin'iro, however, leaving Cye out for the time being, and deciding on Ginji for assistance. He suddenly realized how useless he was here, and he cursed quietly under his breath.
Brayden turned around, hoping to perhaps find anything that might be of use, but his plan was sadly dashed away as the last of the defences on the beach were wisped out of existence from the fierce tremors that shook the ground even still. The sudden feeling of panic clutched at his heart and Brayden frantically turned round, backing away further from whatever monster the sword had infected, not that he had any idea whatsoever on how such a beast was created.
Apparently, it was a knight; one that had suddenly grown another head with another eye and had practically tripled in size and ugliness. Such thoughts definitely weren't helpful.

Craig shouted a warning to the gathered troops, many of which had already fled in pure terror of the unknown beast. Humans they could handle, Pokemon they could deal with. However, the appearance of the deformed, corrupted monster that seemed to carry itself like a man was definitely too much for them.
"Keep your wits about you, don't give up. We weren't expecting anything like this, but there's no reason why we can't fight back! The temple's only a short distance away, fall back, and regroup there! We'll figure out what to do then!"
With a loud cry, the sword-infected fallen Knight before Brayden raised its enormous lance and prepared to swing it down on him.

Brayden quickly jumped and rolled to the side, wincing when the dirt and puddles of water on the ground dirtied shirt and caked his face and arm in mud. He gasped when the force of the lance’s impact against the ground practically threw him backwards into the air and struggled to keep in place by clutching the grass and sand beneath him tightly.
When he was certain that he wasn’t going to be flying off anywhere, Brayden released the grass and jumped to his feet and ran off in the opposite direction of the other men, towards the temple, trying his best to distract the beast, and trying to stop hoping the monster wouldn’t notice him. He recalled Cye a moment later, as he dashed toward the temple doors.
