Marcus was by all means and measures amaze by what he saw as he had made his way down to this floor, this room of a civilaziation long since lost to the flow of time. His footsteps echoed slightly as he came down the last of the stairs, his eyes first landing on the pool of water in the middle of the roo. Somehow he was getting a feeling of immense power from that pool of seemingly harmless water, very great and sometimes conflicting power. He stepped foreward slowly with his sword held firmly but gently in both hands as he slowly gave her his weapon, taking his placxe behind her he placed both hands on her shoulders, one on either side.

However that left the only thing to be decided, what would he name his sword....so mnay possiabilities and choices, how would he choose. Then it came to him, the memory of when Sara had told him of his swords past....she had said a name, the name of someone who had tried to protect the person he loved. Deciding then and there what the name was going to be, Marcus waited ultra quietly for her to begin.

Kira had followed in case anything bad happened. Everything Rivera did had a chance of danger, injury, or near death experiences. But he found that it was actually exciting, now that he had started to get used to it. He just hoped cravings for adrenaline rushes wouldn't get the better of him one day. As he followed the boy and Rivera down the stairs, he was in awe at the sight of the ancient carvings, symbols, and most importantly, the pool that lie in wait at the end of the staircase.

He had to admit, he felt a certain jealousy that the boy was getting a weapon forged by Rivera. It was nothing Kira couldn't deal with though. He had two guns, and the sword he used was always borrowed from Kuro. This place... It's absolutely amazing... He thought as he watched the boy place his hands upon Rivera's shoulders. So... That's how she'll draw power from him? Seems rather understandable that they have to be physically touching for the energy flow to go through Rivera... He thought simply.

Kira suddenly realized he was shivering. This is strange... Is it from the power of the pool? Or am I simply cold? Damned bare feet, blue jeans, and black long sleeved shirt having to be so thin... He thought and suddenly sneezed. It echoed through the room and died slowly. "Sorry..." He muttered. He then snapped his fingers and stepped through a dark portal straight to his dorm, where he gathered a blanket. He returned, clutching the blanket around himself. He remembered that open wounds, even if covered by gauze, were more sensitive to touch and temperature. No wonder... He thought as he watched the event that was about to take place.

((Riyoku Sakimori has given me the right to post on her behalf... If you doubt me ask her yourself...))

Rivera tossed the blade into the center of the scrying pool, but it never fell through the surface. The tip of its blade barely skimmed the surface, causing a dent... not even a ripple. Suspended vertically in space by invisible chains of energy, the battered katana seemed to shine with a new light, reflected from the scrying pool's pure water. Looking into the pool, one saw only a ring of white marble fringe and hazy, bright whiteness reaching down to the furthest depths.

"Just relax." She told the man standing behind her, "It'll feel a little strange when I pull your energy out, but it won't hurt. Just don't let go or your sword might shatter." Rivera didn't wait for an answer. She thrust her hands out towards the sword, gathering power into her arms from her shoulders. Her eyes suddenly turned a pale gold, laced with the purest silver highlights. The pool grew bright with a pure, white glow and the room became noticably warmer... not hot, but quite warm. The katana began to glow as well, first a soft orange-gold and then a sharper white. Concentration knitted her brows together as she began the spell.

"By the Chloe, Goddess of War and Gallea, Goddess of Storms, I forge this blade anew in your names!" Her voice was still a whisper, but the power of the spell made it strong. The room shook with the force of her words and her prayer, as if the goddesses were answering her. Chloe and Gallea were her patron goddesses, who watched over her own sword, the Kairyu, and protected her as well as those she used the sword for. She was asking permission to forge another sword similar to Kairyu. "Grant a Divine Mandate to your last daughter, and the strength to carry on your signatures!"

The scrying pool waters suddenly churned as a shock of lightning fell to the waters from the ceiling above. A wind lifted silvery waves around the sword, howling the keen war cry of a falcon. Rivera inclined her head respectfully. The permission was granted to her. Throwing her power like a wild thread into the chamber, she let it find her name, the last sequence of heiroglyphs on the walls, and attach the divine mandate. Now she can start the real part of the forging incantation. Taking a deep breath, she focused her heart on the blade shrouded in the divine chaos.

"Steel and darkness, Stone and light. Wood of ancients, Water of night.
Chaos and order, virtue and sin. Awaken the spirit of live within."
The first part of the spell was designed to draw energy at a precise rate. The man who stood behind her supplied the power she required to strengthen the sword. The raw energy tore at her arms, threatening to tear apart what scars she had hacking across them. The color of the sword was completely obscured by brilliance at this point. All anyone could see was a swordshaped concentration of light. It seemed to change in chape, growing longer and sleeker.

"Four points of fire, water, earth and wind, compass balance twixt five realms.
Two of four shrink in regret, other two of four abet.
Four of four will never die, one alone of four forget.
Bind the chains until they break, bind the days until they fall.
Turn the time when souls are pure, when souls were ever pure at all."
Each of the four mortal elements of fire, water, earth and wind formed for pillars of light where their inscriptions were placed upon each portion of the wheel. Chains of golden light sprang from the four pillars, wrapping around the sword once and suspending itself onto another pillar. The pillar with the most chains to and from were wind and fire, clear representations of the greatest speed. That was a good sign... the katana itself recognized its owner even without being named. Rivera began to draw a small portion of Marcus' soul energy from within him. She hoped that she didn't imagine him squeezing her shoulders tighter, because if he didn't react to it, it meant that her spell was wrong. From what she desperately hoped was soul energy, she applied it to the seal for steel, causing it to imitated the form of metal before applying it to the blade.

Rivera was feeling tired. She could barely keep her arms up on her own... only the power running through them kept them thrust out towards the sword. Her shoulders felt like they were going to rip apart at any moment and her entire skeletal frame ached from stiffness. Trying her hardest to stay focused, she moved on towards the third and her final part to the spellwork.

"Turn the wheel of fate on end, defy preordained destinies.
What should be will not become in the dominus entities.
Break the glass that holds the sand, cut the chains of all understanding!"
The pillars and chains shattered to dust as the sword grew in radiance and developed its own aura. The scrying pool waters seemed to bend and dent beneath it from the overwhelming force of entrophic energy. Shaking filled the room as the walls echoed with the loud humming of unused energy. Rivera was gritting her teeth as the same energy lanced back into her body in spiking shockwaves.

"NAME IT NOW!" She screamed out over the cacophany in the room, her body shaking with the effort of maintaining power over the unbound sword. "NAME IT BEFORE I LOSE CONTROL OVER IT!"

((I believe you...and man, that was a truly excelent post, Bravo!))

Marcus could feel part of himself leave, what supernatural force she had used to do this was unknown to hs feeble and limited mind, but it was all too real that was for certain. Her powers were amazing, not just above average human abilities like his own no...her went up to the highest level of power and strength, something he would probibly never know.....but he wasn't a power hungry man, he knew what he wanted and what he needed, and power wasn't on those lists. He watched as the chains broke suddenly, and how she had told him to name his weapon...it came to mind, he knew what he would call this sword.

"This blade, from now untill the end of days shall be called...Kinami!" He shouted, which despite his usual quiet voice and meek personality, boomed out loud enough for all present to hear....that name.....Sara, everything that had already happened to him over a little more than a week would be remembered by him at least in this blade. He could tell just by looking at her that she was exhausted and pushed to the brink of collapse....had he done the right thing in asking her to do this? If he were to injure someone in trying to get a weapon of his own fixed...he didn't know how he would live with the guilt.

Rivera felt all the tension in her body suddenly give away and vanish. The room ceased to shake and returned to its elegant, usual state of gold, white and pale rose. There was no stirring in the scrying pool... it had returned to a motionless mass of glowing water. Not a single ripple appeared on its surface. Holding out her hand, she allowed the katana to float to her fingers. Gripping it lightly by the hilt, she inspected what she had done to it. The sword was barely recognizable from its former self. The hilt was bound with polished blue leather and overlaid by woven black threads, forming a black grip with a row of blue diamonds running down either side of the hilt. A silver cap shod the end of the hilt, adorning it with a small ring where a sleek, black tassle hung. The blade was quite a bit longer now, reflected by the soul energy to make itself longer and more suitable for its owner. The steel was pure and brilliant in luster, flawless and sharp. A distinct yet discreet ripple of blue under the surface marked it as a steel merged with spirit. The hiltguard was a darker silver than the blade. It bore the spiraling designs of four swirling clouds on the edge of a hurricane. It remained the same... the seal of the noble Kazerin house where it originated.

Rivera carefully handed the blade to Marcus. "Here... I think this little guy will stick with you for a long time." She smiled fondly at the sword. She loved metal things... much like magpie. Silvers and blacks attracted her attention faster than any other combination of colors. "But I'll warn you now... it's a dominus weapon. If you don't have faith in it in midbattle, it will break. However, if you believe it with all your heart, it will unleash a power unique to you. No one else can use this blade without cutting themselves. Take good care of it."

Rivera bent to pick up her vest and put it back on, buckling the leather straps snugly. She wanted to go back upstairs and finish breakfast. Working before breakfast made her a little queasy. The energy she used wasn't even hers, and it was only a very small amount, considering how much extra energy the guy had gushing out of him and leaking out of the corners. But acting as a channel for that energy is even more tiring than using one's own energy. "Guys, go ahead upstairs." She found her way to the wall and slid down with her back against it, sitting on the cold marble floor. sticking a hand into one of the bulky pockets on the side of her jeans, she pulled out a large bar of chocolate and unwrapped it. "Gimme a few minutes, I'll be up as soon as I figure out how to move my legs again." She mumbled through a small mouthful of the chocolate. Mmm... caramel...

"I cannot thank you enough Miss Rivera.....you have given me a weapon I never believed I would possess, thank you" he said quietly as he held the blade with both hands, the weight of it something new and unfamiliar to him, but he would get used to it quick enough. As he held it he could even feel that it was somehow bound to him, perhaps because in fact it was, becasue it was a literal part of him. He honestly didn't know how to pay someone back for doing such a thing for him, he had no money and nothing to impart or do for her......it didn't sit right with him. He did however know of something he could do, if even it was very little. Reaching into his shirt he pulled out a crumpled piece of paper and a tiny pencil and scribbled down a few words where he could, and quickly he handed it to her. "If you....ever need my help....You can find me around.....if not, I"ll find you eventually" he said quietly placing the piece of paper in her hands gently.

He turned around and left as she had said to, ascending the stairs he ahd come down and exiting her room quietly, closing her door behind him. However once in the hall he let out his version of a yelp, which was rather quiet and sharp...but he was thrilled. He had gotten a weapon worthly of a true mastr of swordsmanship, yet look at him...he wasn't very good. But as she said he had faith in his weapon, because he had faith in himself. No matter how long it took he would become truly worthy to weild this sword.

Kira let out a low whistle after witnessing this whole event. The whole thing had put him in awe, as he had never seen a sword forged as so. He yawned and folded his wings around himself. "Rivera... You really think I'd let you wait alone down here? Or do you get the impression that I won't carry you? Either one works..." He said with a simple, kind grin. When she figures out how to move her legs...? Heh... She acts like she's been turned into a paraplegic for a few minutes... He thought as he reached into a portal of darkness, pulling out his breakfast tray.

"And besides..." Kira said taking a bite of his waffle. "I have no problem with eating down here while you rest..." He said then thought it might seem inconsiderate to eat his breakfast while she recovered. He reached into another portal and grabbed her tray, then stood up and walked over to her, where he placed it at her side before going and getting his own tray and relocating near her.

"So... That's what it took to forge Kairyu I'm guessing?" Kira asked, eating more of his breakfast. He still had the blanket wrapped around himself, with his wings folded over it. He felt a small stinging in each of his current wounds and sighed. "Has it been that long already?" He asked to no one in particular. He reached into his jeans pocket and pulled out an orange bottle with a child-proof lid. He twisted off the lid and shook out one pill, then swallowed it. I hope I don't wind up addicted to this... He thought as he replaced the bottle in his pocket, and started eating more of his breakfast.

Rivera scoffed. "You're wounded. I'm not about to let you carry Usagihana, let alone me." Okay... so Usagihana was about half her weight currently, but she weighed the same as the average three or four-year-old. That's about 45 pounds. Light, but still a large strain on any wounds. She gladly accepted her tray as she finished her chocolate bar. The stack of waffles began to vanish rapidly... but Rivera still ate in her cat-like daintiness, never letting a single crumb or morsel drop or stick to her skin.

When Kira mentioned Kairyu, she thought about it a little more... "No... It takes much more to forge a sword like Kairyu... Kinami only has a tiny portion of that guy's soul. It won't be as strong as Kairyu... Kairyu's been like my brother. He's made from hundreds of collected soul fragments, those that were willing and those that were evil, to make a balance fit for chaos. Kairyu is like a person himself, he can speak if you listen to him carefully in your mind... and he requires energy, like a normal person. Forging Kairyu took three weeks, from what Kai told me... it was like making a whole new person. Half of its soul energy once belonged to me."

Kairyu had a long story... it had been her partner in almost every large battle she's ever fought. She and the court smith mages had forged it together when she was only nine years old, a sword that was able to change shape and size to fit her desires. It held ancient spells and bindings that would unleash only when she found a reason for fighting. She couldn't unleash that power during the star test because her reason was not powerful enough. That sometimes happened, when her will just wouldn't bend to her.

Rivera could sense feeling coming back into her legs. standing up, she streched a little. "Let's go up... if you're ready."

"Why can't you just accept that sometimes... Your boyfriend wants to try the whole knight in shining armor act?" Kira asked with a grin knowing she would probably find his words funny. He continued eating as well and chugged his glass of chocolate milk afterwards. He soon ate the orange half he had on his plate as well and sighed, satisfied with the meal.

When he heard Rivera tell him about Kairyu and Kinami's difference, his mind started working. If I were to forge a sword with her aid... Would it not be powerful enough to help me protect her? Would I have to sacrifice half of my soul's energy to forge it? Would it take as long as Kairyu did? He soon found the resolve to ask. "Rivera... I want you to help me forge a blade... Not repair... But forge a complete blade made by us... For me to use in your protection..." He said quietly, remembering Kai had said that he was more her bodyguard than Kai was now. "But only when you are ready..." He said quietly.

It was what he wanted. Simply to have a new, stronger weapon, to aid him in protecting Rivera. He knew she was weakening and he wanted to make sure he would be able to protect her. If it meant half his soul or even half his life would be used to forge the blade, he didn't care. He wanted a weapon he could truly rely on.

When she stood, he stood as well. "Yeah... If we stay down here... Odds are I'll catch a cold or something..." He said quietly, keeping the blanket draped over his shoulders. He started popping a few of his joints and was surprised that he actually felt better, despite the small twinges of pain from bending so the bones would pop lightly.

Rivera's eyes flickered pink and gold in laughter while her face remained still. Laughing was still something that hurt her. "Knights in shining armor rescue lovely damsels in distress. I'll tell you I don't have flawless skin nor golden hair and the only time I'm distressed is when you get cut into ribbons" The idea of Kira in armor was very amusing, especially the large, puffy looking spanish plate of the 15th century. She settled back, sipping her chocolate milk but leaving her orange untouched. There was still a little bit of waffle left over. She didn't have much of a stomach vacancy.

Rivera blinked. A sword...? Maybe she should've told him that she could forge. Then maybe they would already have made a sword between them. Now they would have to wait when there is time and when she has her power returned. "That will be no problem... I can forge you a sword. However, you have to give up one of your most treasured possesions to serve as its core." Her eyes suddenly burst into laughter again, "That doesn't mean me. I belong to you, but not as a possession."

She stood up, balancing the tray and its contents expertly in her left hand. "You're right, we really should go up." Pulling the portal spell tape out of her pocket, she whipped it around in a circle around them. The violet alchemy circle appeared around their feet. Since they were only going upstairs, she didn't even need to use the verbal form of the spell.

"You're still the perfect damsel for this knight..." Kira said simply in response with a fond gaze upon his features. If that was the only time she got distressed, then he would probably need the sword. "No problem huh? But my only truly treasured possessions other than you are my wings..." He said quietly, thinking of how painful it would be to give up his wings. But then again... I don't really fly too much anymore... He thought.

When she formed the circle he simply stood still as it glowed violet. He then felt himself whisked away to the dorm. "I think I'll go back to my dorm to rest... I love you Rivera..." He said gently, holding her for a few seconds and kissing her before stepping out.

Kira had found the time before the spell to bring him and Rivera back to the catacombs to say something and do one last thing. "Rivera... I love you and nothing will change that..." He had said and as the teleportation circle had started glowing, he had found the time to put his arms around her hastilly and kiss her lovingly. And so, when they appeared in the catacombs beneath her dorm, he was still kissing her with all the love he had for her. He released his embrace from her and looked at her. "I love you even if you're not as loving as you hope to be... I promise after Kleptos is dead that I will make sure we both get a well deserved break..." He said quietly.

Rivera smiled at him, very apologetically as they appeared in the scrying pool's chamber. "Sometimes I wonder how I found such a sweet boyfriend..." She stepped from the fading spell, picking it up again and rolling it up before placing it in her pocket. "Okay, Kira. We're going to do this forging business in a way more compatible for you. You're a light-dark entity. That's a balance, so I can't forge your sword with chaos incase it disobeys you. We'll be doing this all in silence." Caprice? She remembered what it felt like to channel her thoughts to him in the hotsprings. The scrying pool in the middle of the room did help amplify their powers. Great. All the better for forging a joint sword. She eyed the room's setting, couldn't quite decide, and finally looked towards the symbol for light. That's a likely place to start...

Beckoning for Kira to stand with her at the edge of the pool, next to the light symbol, she smiled encouragingly. "Are you ready for this? I promise it won't hurt a bit, but you're just going to be really tired, and probably feel really wierd for a while..." She tossed her jacket into a corner of the room. She wore a black, sleeveless t-shirt underneath.
PostPosted: Sun Sep 17, 2006 10:55 am

Kira moved silently to the symbol at the pools edge and stood near it. "So... Silence right?" He asked knowing the answer. "And afterwards I'm going to feel wierd and tired? Well I hope it's worth it..." He said quietly, waiting for what to do next on Rivera's cue. As he waited, he looked around the room once again, the scrying pool, the large smooth walls with carved symbols and names all over the place. He admitted it had a strange, unique beauty to it, despite the forboding atmosphere.

By the Chloe, Goddess of War and Gallea, Goddess of Storms, I forge this blade anew in your names. Grant a Divine Mandate to your last daughter, and the strength to carry on your signatures. Rivera's thoughts echoed through the room, reverbrating in soft, flowing waves of sound. The sensitivity of the chamber was so great a mere thought could vibrate its pillars.

The scrying pool waters churned as a wave of lightning fell to it from the ceiling and a wind lifted silvery waves from the pool's edge, whispering a menace. Rivera inclined her head respectfully as she always did in a ceremony. Once again, she was given the mandate without question. The goddesses could understand her. She served them faithfully, there was no reason to refuse her. She attached the permission on a thread of power to her name, carved upon the walls, then extended her wings.

Steel and darkness, Stone and light. Wood of ancients, Water of night.
Chaos and order, virtue and sin. Awaken the spirit of live within.
Several feathers broke off from her wings, floating to the center of the pool. More broke off and scattered towards the waters as the energy build up increased around them. Rivera grasped Kira's hand, making sure that he would become part of this power. Forging a weapon was much harder than fixing an already made one. She watched the pillar of steel that used to be her feathers in the middle of the pool, glowing brilliantly.

"Kira... bear with me. This will feel a little wierd, but no matter what, don't let go fo me until you feel the tension release... " She was going to draw out his soul into herself. Rivera turned to him and placed her hand over his chest.
Four points of fire, water, earth and wind, compass balance twixt five realms.
Two of four shrink in regret, other two of four abet.
Four of four will never die, one alone of four forget.
Bind the chains until they break, bind the days until they fall.
Turn the time when souls are pure, when souls were ever pure at all.

She could feel his soul energy pouring into her, blending with part of her own soul and the residue souls around them, of the priests and priestesses that died and guarded the room. She could feel him rising up inside of her with an indescribable warmth. The room shook slightly harder with this strange exchange of energy. The tension broke as she ended her concentration, breaking free of him.

Rivera began to walk to the absolute edge of the pool. "When I merge with the core... I want you to give this sword a purpose... give it a reason for existence, for you and anyone else who might ever wield it. A reason to be faithful in a dominus weapon..." With that said, she stepped over the edge and began to tread on water. Her steps barely sent circular ripples on the surface of the water, slowly and much more like gliding than walking. Rivera's eyes glowed with the light of the steel pillar. She stood still before the palisade of light in reverance before holding out her arms and embracing it. A blinding flash marked their contact as she took the place of the pillar, a glowing white form of light floating above the water's surface. Rather... the pillar was absorbed into her.
