Character: DevonRP Response: "It could perhaps be that your information is correct and your race is older than ours, but even if that is so, your information is far out of date. Devon shrugged. Their anger deflated slightly at the centaur's polite response and greeting. They still held on to as much of that emotion as they could- they were afraid if they let themselves feel anything else, it would turn to despair. "There are multiple different cultures and languages across both Above and Below, as Ms Sierra here as mentioned." They motioned to the blue grimm. "Many of them are quite old. I am a doctor, not a historian. I can give overviews of things, but I have not studied up on much history since my schooling. It is possible that whatever information I would give might be... inaccurate."Their head swivelled towards the fallen as she sit down with a yelp. Their hand instinctively went to their hip where their bag had rested during the course of their trip, only to remember that their supplies had been taken away. "Well... s**t." They mumbled under their breath as they headed over to Amarith, crouching down beside her. "I... do not have any of my medical supplies, but will you allow me to take a look at your injuries?"

Character: Amarith RP Response: Amarith looked at Devon, then shut her eyes with a sigh and nodded. "Yeah." She said, now seeming more tired than angry. "I got cut up by rusty blades in a puddle or something, and then I stepped on a damn steel trap. If I had my backpack I could probably patch myself up, but you know...the other savages apparently thought we were pack animals or something." She sneered the words. This whole thing was bullshit. Their captors knew perfectly damn well they were sapient beings, they just wanted to make flimsy excuses to kill and eat them.

Character: DevonRP Response: Devon nodded as she spoke, she was well within her right to feel angry, and if she could keep focused on that, perhaps she could be distracted from her leg for a moment. They rolled up their sleeves to the elbow. "That does sound particularly awful. Hopefully it simply feels worse than it seems, the running could have exacerbated the pain." They inspected her leg gingerly, trying to not to touch the open wounds with their unwashed hands. "If I had my supplies, I would clean this and put some butterfly bandages on here. It is possible you may need some stitches, but even if I had my things I would not want to do that here. It is not exactly a sterile operating room here." They sighed and turned their attention back to the centaur. They didn't like that they had to ask for help in this matter- they were supposed to be the medical professional here. "What sort of healing assistance were you offering? Metaphorically, my hands are a bit tied in the moment, and I am unable to perform my job in the way that I should."

Sierra stepped a little father foward, not letting herself be entirely cowed by Strongback, but showing deference to the obvious leadership as she would to a more dominant than her rank. "You are a wise, proud warrior people, even I must recogonize your strength and prowess, more over than being head strong as you stated.- We bleed the same, die the same, hunt the same runfor our lives the same,, trust the shamans of our people the same? so let me please pose a question to you- How may we prove we are not beasts? " With each point she gestured to one exemplifying that the bleed, could die, run, hunt, and trust shamans each in trurn, before simply letting her final words hang in the air

Character: Latros Response: Latros could only roll their eight eyes at the noncommittal response from the first centaur, making sure they rolled in various speeds for good measure. "That sounds boring, so I'll pass. Lemme know when you guys need more exercise I guess."
Their ears perked again at the approach of the other centaur, who seemed like an authority figure, or something. "Hey! Laydee! What about you, you gonna feed me before the next hunt? I'll give you a run for your money this time!" They paused for a moment, having not seen any sign of currency yet. Maybe they were still trading shiny rocks? "That is...if you guys even know what complex financial systems are..."
They assumed a sort of thinking pose, exactly as you would expect a three-tailed spiderfox to look like while hanging upside-down and thinking. "Are you guys still bartering for goods, or have you progressed to currency backed by precious metals? It'd be kind of a stretch to assume you guys are on a fiat currency system already, on account of the lack of banks or any central infrastructure really..."
They continued to ponder out loud about various financial theories and institutions, before getting distracted by a bug and finally shutting up while trying to catch it.

Character: Amarith RP Response: The hollowed hanging out on the top of the cage was quickly becoming Amarith's favorite prisoner. She could greatly appreciate their sense of humor and if they somehow got out of this alive, she would make sure to tell them so. But another person was being entirely too diplomatic in her opinion and it was on them she turned.
"They know we're not beasts!" She snapped. "Why do you think they stole our backpacks from us?! Don't act like they don't know what they're doing!" She almost outed Pakaha as a potential ally, but had at least enough common sense not to do that even if she couldn't seem to stop herself from insulting them otherwise. Well if one of them had to be the sacrifice to hopefully make the others fight, then it might as well be her. Petunia would be so ashamed of her, but considering how Pakaha had talked about Kirin, Petunia would surely have understood. She made herself move closer to the bars again. She had to be brave and hope that her sacrifice would prove to the others how savage their captors really were and hopefully prompt the correct response while she would go on to join Petunia on the other side.
"Stop pretending!" She snarled at Aritao. "You know perfectly well that we're people! Don't make excuses for your barbarism, just admit that you're murderers! If you're going to kill and eat us all, at least be honest about how horrible you really are! If roles were reversed, at least we're civilized enough not to call you animals even though you run around on four legs!"

Character: DevonRP Response: Devon reached forward, putting their hand on Amarith's shoulder, leaning forward to whisper almost inaudibly in her ear. "It is your right to be angry, and you should be. But do not give them an excuse to throw us in the fire preemptively. She has mentioned that some of group escaped, there still may be hope for our rescue. It might be a slim chance but... I am not willing to just roll over just yet. I think we ought to keep these two busy to buy them some time." They patted her shoulder before pulling away, giving her a nod. They cleared their throat, looking up at Ariato. "I do hope you can forgive the amounts of emotion people here might be directing towards you. This lady here has an injured leg, and you did force her against her will to run on it. Pain and anger do not lead to the most conducive conversations. I appreciate that you realize that we are not beasts, but thinking feeling beings." They smiled, pleasantly, blandly. If they could handle an angry soccer mom in their teen years working retail, they could handle this lady. "My name is Doctor Devon Holloway. I am trained in medicine. I am assuming you are the one in charge of your... tribe? I am sorry, I do not know what your call your collective here. Forgive my ignorance."grandma duck Sorry for the double quote, had to make an edit!

Character: Amarith RP Response: Amarith was about to answer Aritao and tell her where to stick her stupid notion of 'acting like foals' when they'd been hurt, hunted and threatened with murder when Devon spoke and with wet eyes and a twisted expression she turned to him. Fortunately, she paused to listen to what he was saying and took a deep breath.
"I'm not trying to get everyone killed." She said softly and swallowed at the possibility. "I'm just trying to get something to happen. The other one said he won't let us be killed, but this one doesn't care and this one seems to be in charge." She shifted away from him then, still steamed up but a bit more subdued at the poignant reality that they might hurt someone else to punish her. She turned to deal with her wings instead, straightening what she could and pulling what she couldn't--which definitely hurt--well maybe she could poke some enemies in the eyes with the sharp end at least.

Character: Sierra Roleplay response: Sierra slowly shook her head at Strongback's reply to her. And wasn't surprised when the Fallen lashed out. She could understand the responses though was indeed surpised that the Leader acknowledged knowing that they weren't beasts. She gave Devon a nod to see that he was handling the fallen. "As the Hallowed one hanging suggested we do have quite the society going, and I was not suggesting bartering. Though that is an idea that bears merit.
Is it any wonder that we act like foals when in a land we don't know, in a place that no one ever returns from- looking for a lost expedition. We have not trained to be a cohesive unit- we signed up or were hired to help some people from a University find people who went missing! I get that we're a rag tag bunch but we are all quite out of our element having had our stuff taken and being quite surprised to find a whole other race with a society here, when we most certainly did not expect that. I mean, since the long War more races have been coming to light, however so much information was lost.I'm no doubt looking at a lost race as we speak.....She trailed off and sighed. She hoped that the Shaman could talk some sense into her. And yet she couldn't hold back from saying softly We are at a great pivot point of history- you could be the leader who lead your society into the new world.....no longer a lone race- but to have allies and friends and make new family- and perhaps find out answers to long unfufilled questoins...........

Character: EirResponse: "Well how would you expect someone to react when they've been hunted, imprisoned, hunted again, and imprisoned again?" Eir asked, her eyes following the centaur's hand to her blades. "...******** I wish I had my swords right now." She lamented. If things had gone differently, she would have loved to test her strength against this leader. Actually... "I'd love to spar against you. See how you use your blades in a fair fight."

Character: Saiph RP Response: Saiph watched as the leader from before returned. No one new was tossed into the cage so Saiph began to hope the others had escaped. They tried not to allow hope to rise within them too soon. Saiph got the feeling, however, that with the presence of the leader, Lightspirit wouldn't be talking to the group quite so openly anymore.
Then Strongback confirmed what Saiph had suspected: some had escaped! Now it was time to squash a smile to keep from angering the strangers. It was hard but this was a balancing act.
The Grimm from before seemed to be trying her best to get the leader to see them as the same. Good, good idea. The Hallowed hanging from the roof, however, was making them all look like fools. They also seemed out of their mind so probably not going to get them to behave. Maybe I can throw rocks at them to make them fall down... Saiph shook their head. That wouldn't make the group look good either.
The Fallen's outburst made Saiph cringe. They weren't about to say anything to her, but turning on each other was not going to help the situation. It did, however, raise a response from Strongback. One that made Saiph's eyebrow quirk. They weren't being seen as adults but children is close enough. At least they weren't animals.
Saiph watched as the doctor, Devon, spoke to the Fallen and seemingly calmed her down. At least there's that. He even explained away her outburst to seem less crazed. Someone was keeping their head about them. (Not like I'm one to talk. I shouted too. ... And angry cried.)
The Grimm from before was really trying her best to connect to these strangers and Saiph could appreciate it. They nodded along to her words then halted when they heard Eir's.
"What!?"
Lural Technically Saiph verbally responded to Eir. xD

Character name: Jin Response: Eir had brought up all good point... what? Jin glanced at Saiph, face surprised and tipped his head towards Eir before bee lining to her. "Eir...as much as I'm sure you want have a friendly spar... I don't think this is the time to mention it." He muttered, looking at Eir and then Aritao. She had just admitted they were not mere beasts, which was some what better... but not by much. "And what is proper behavior, if I can ask." Yes someone was edging towards hysterics but they needed proper medical help...the twins... Yeah. He didn't know them.

Character: Latros Response: Latros sort of paid attention to the mean centaur as they tried to catch the bug, which seemed to be wise of their attempts and got out of the way quickly. The gravity-defying hybrid could only smirk at the centaur's response, someone woke up on the wrong side of the rock slab it seemed.
"Suit yourself. Best not kill anyone though, or I'll raise an undead army with their boooones~." They sort of shrugged, remaining upside-down as they felt no need to become any more serious just yet.
The hybrid was bluffing, of course, the necromancy teachers they had asked all said that they didn't have the patience or focus to be a good student. Or something, whatever that meant. They weren't really paying attention at the time. But a race that was locked away for who knows how long probably wouldn't know anything about the restrictions on necromancy. Right? Right.
Green Minuet Lemme know if this is out of line, oh lore master
