Bradley stumbled out of the portal into blistering heat. Sand scraped at his face and he held up an arm to try to block some of it. Ugh did the Sahara always smell like this, like rotting flesh and did it always sound like screaming? He took a step forward and his other foot hit air.

"Motherf----!" he hit the sand hard and slide down the slope.

No, not slope.

Mouth.

His eyes widened. Those were teeth. There were hunters on those teeth. It was like that damn pit in Star Wars. Except deadlier. Because it was real.

He slid down the slope and reached a hand out to Nora as he sailed closer to her. "Nora!" He attempted to go reach for her and you know, help her onto a higher ground when he kept sliding past her and landed somewhere far closer to the maw of the sand beast than he wanted to.

Shitshitshitshitshitshit.

[[ THIS IS WHY I SAID DID YOU KNOW WHERE YOU WERE GOING YOU NEST MONKEY. ]] Yzalin screamed louder in his head than necessary and Bradley bared his teeth in frustration.

Oh shut it short stack I'm already in the mess!

The two of them argued as the teeth slowly turned.

"Look," Mark began, typing away madly on three different screens (alternating) , "I'm kind of trying to-"

And then he picked up lady voice.

-"Do important Jedi things." He leaned casually against one laptop, shaking a few roaches off his coat sleeves, "But I always have some time for some Padawan training. Some personal padawan training, if you know what I mean."

Lydia got the sexy puckered lips smoulder.

Lydia straightened abruptly as it seemed the half man half Canadian Rockies mountain beast was talking again, and since he was the one telling them what to do in such a commanding and quite obviously authoritive manner, she thought it might be best to listen to him.

Wait, Jedi?

...Padawan training??

Lydia began to giggle, quite uncontrollably, forcing her to quickly put down the cell phones she had picked up so that she could hide her suddenly flushing face behind her hands, finding his words and his facial expression simply adorable.

The roaches only added to his charm.

"Well, I suppose I wouldn't mind some personal training, especially from a creature as impressive as you!" She somehow managed to choke out, not quite believing her luck. "Jedi I mean. Jedi creature...very, very impressive. Will you be showing me how you wield the force?" She managed to smile at him from behind her hands.

Totally nailed the star wars reference mumbo jumbo. She was on her A-game today!

"Argh, can't be arsed--" In the slurry of sand, teeth, and corpses, Nora saw something protruding out. Something much more solid. Immediately she latched on and felt a wave of relief go over her as the sand slid past without taking her along with them. The mouth (gullet, throat, whatever it was) was further away, thank the heavens. Some weren't quite as fortunate, however.

Bradley, for instance. "Find something to hold onto!" Nora shouted at him, spitting out some sand while she was at it. Whatever anyone did, they probably ought not to look back like . . . she was doing. What a grim little place this was. "Preferably not the teeth!" she added helpfully.

[ Awesome fun Sahara times ]

Oh, well this probably should have been expected with a trip to the Sahara, not that Milo really knew all that much better. He had, what, taken one trip before? That had gone pretty badly? Maybe he was hoping for something a little less than what they encountered. What with first that horrible putrid smell upon arrival and then the giant pit of teeth and sand that appeared beneath them that was trying to swallow them up - he had something for this, he knew he did. Koume yelled at him to stop thinking about it.

"Oh yay ~" He exclaimed in a rather sarcastic tone; hopefully in the vicinity of Noemi so she could see how less than thrilled he was for once. Sadly, the swirling vortex of sharp pointy things and death decided it was going to pull his tight grip on her apart, even after he tried to tighten that grip when all this started to go down.

Talking also probably wasn't the best course of action, not here at least. He still continued anyways, "hopefully we will be." Milo called out in reply to Jack, "Noemi?" Urg, that got a good amount of sand in his mouth. Yay.

"Honestly?" Robert took one look at the portal, and his head rolled to the side. "Not even a little bit."

But it was their job, and they didn't have much of a choice. He looked like he was taking a step in anyway, when he noticed she'd picked up a grenade, and stopped to think for a minute.

".. But maybe if you throw that in and we wait a few seconds, it might be less terrible in there."

It wouldn't.

[Lighthouse]

The word 'honestly' earned a look of insulted confusion - of course Mimsy intended for him to be honest with her, which was why she had ever asked in the first place.

"So don't. We can find something else to do with our time," she suggested, turning both the grenade and the stolen cell phone over in her hands. They made faint clinking noises as they rubbed against one another, which was probably not the safest thing.

She stopped to look down at it, considering whether or not she really wanted to throw it through the portal. She had never had the opportunity to use one of these before, whatever it was; part of her wanted to keep it to show Lucky, whenever he woke up, and the other part was very curious to see what it would do.

As she debated the merits of each, one of Mark's friendly cockroaches scurried over her boot. She let out a high-pitched squeal at the sight of it, which might have been the girliest sound that had ever come out of her mouth.

Then she bent down to quickly snatch it up, and held her hand closed around it while she pocketed the cell phone. Now she held a squirming roach in one hand, and a grenade in the other, and she kind of didn't want to let either of them go.

"What if it lands in the midst of our fellow Hunters?" She paused, and smiled a split second later. "Ohhh. Yes, all right!"

Two thin antennae poked out of her closed hand as she put the grenade pin between her teeth. Just in case he'd changed his mind, she looked up at Robert and raised her eyebrows as she began to speak around the piece of metal.

"If you are quite certain that you would not prefer to go elsewhere, and that this is the best course of action..." She trailed off and waited for his answer, either way.

The idea of [Going through a portal] Had seemed fantastically cool at the time, after all other hunters had gone through before them, and he didn't see any white tower robots talking about cake and experiments so, how bad could this be!

Oh right, someone had mentioned 'Suffering' hadn't they.

The second he was through he was, and not for the first time in his life, he had to admit, reassessing his life choices.

"Holy SARLACC" Yelped Jasper as he slid. "I signed up for Batman not Bobba Fett!"

Recovering from his fainting spell, Jason got to his feat, legs wobbling underneath him but at least supporting him. Somewhat. Mark had appeared on the scene and was spouting something about not believing why they were here. Confused, the moon trainee followed him until they reached the lighthouse, and upon stepping through the portal...

...Wished he hadn't.

The sandstorm hit him like a train and he was nearly blown back through the portal. And if the mouthful of sand wasn't enough there was the smell as well. God it was awful. Dry retching, he covered his mouth with his hunter scarf and squinted through the sand to see what was going on. Though he couldn't see he could feel the sand dropping beneath him, letting him slide downward.

When the sand died down enough so he could see where he was being dragged, he screamed again at the huge mass of jagged teeth that looked ready to swallow him whole.

"THE HELL IS THAT?!" He Shrieked. "WHAT IS THAT THING WHY ARE WE FIGHTING IT?!"

Peeling vegetables should have been boring as hell but relatively safe. The worst damage would have been from cutting yourself on a peeler. Headless bodies should -not- be involved in vegetable peeling.

"....oh for ******** sake." He dropped the carrot, the half he hadn't eaten, as the body hit the ground in front of them. "If this is more of that dream crap i swear i am going to find whoever started it and choke them."

Wiping his hands off he followed after Arland, glancing back to see if the guy he'd shouted at was still following too.

Holy rusted... "Oh my god there are two of you." Arland's puns were bad enough, Milo's too sometimes, but now another one? He skidded to a halt in front of the lighthouse portal. mostly ignoring the guy with all the computers, to look at Arland and Jasper

Even in his panic Jason knew he had to get away from that thing, but with the shifting sand underneath him it was difficult to maneuverer or get any footing, and the more he struggled the more he felt himself sinking. His breathing coming in short gasps, the moon trainee saw a object and grabbed onto it to keep himself from going any deeper.

Pulling it towards him, he uncovered a dead hunter, his eyes lifeless and staring. the bottom half of the hunter had been chewed up only adding to the distressing sight. Jason could do nothing but freeze, making odd choking sounds as the sight was burned into his retinas. Paralyzed with fear and horror, he drew closer to the pit of teeth

Harland was just minding his own business peeling things, miscellaneous things, when Lilibuns started to tug at him. Suddenly, all the things he'd been ignoring came back to him: a body, running, to the lighthouse. And Lilac was pulling him towards the lighthouse, or he supposed to where she figured it would be, when Marc interrupted them all.

And led them to the portal, his arms full of tech.

Nothing could have prepared Harland for the nightmare vision of the creature who was all rings of teeth, and definitely trying to devour them. What had put the portal here, why were they being dropped into it? Harland immediately summoned Coyote.

Here was the problem with the principle of a hookshot gauntlet in the Sahara: what was there to latch onto? A higher row of teeth?

Still, it was worth a shot. Harland grabbed hold of Lilac by the waist, and tried to latch Coyote onto a high row, pressing the plate on his palm.

8 meters down. 22 below him. Now if he could just get to the top and find something to anchor himself, he could try to retrieve people.

"Assumin' this isn't some kind of nightmare," Harland said, through gritted teeth, trying to figure out how he could release pressure on Coyote without losing ground. "Better get out've here fast."

He wished he had predicted this. He had been too out of it to resist Lilac's pull, hadn't questioned if it was the right way to go. "You're brave, Lilac," he told her, as if it was a fact.

He tried to pull someone out.

That someone had been long dead, and he slipped down 5 meters just trying to help.

Harland pushed his bandanna up over his face and mouth to protect himself from the whipping sand, in the hopes of being able to concentrate better. It looked like there were poles, objects lodged at different places. If only he could grab one.

The plan half worked. He had let go of Lilac a while ago, when it became apparent he'd just slip deeper and deeper. It all seemed so futile. He'd connected with something that slashed at his side.

-5 hp, 23 meters slipped.

Silently, Harland recited things in his head. Old irish prayers his mother had said, before he went to sleep every night. He wasn't religious, but it was impossible to escape it at home. It became a part of him.

This was not a good scene.

Keep it together, cowboy. You have me, he reminded him.
