Kaz smiled at Kaori, he actually wanted to try to get away with petting her to see if she liked it. Shooting his eyes back to the floor and crossing his arms tighter. 'Silly thoughts are starting to over take you.' Looking back to Nariomi he wondered what their alliance could do help hold back any potential wars. As long as he has been around he did not know of any personal grudges between the two villages. "Why would Konaha just now be making moves? Pushing off of the wall Nari shrugged his shoulders,"Honestly speaking, I dont know. I can hazard a guess but thats about it." Facing Kaori he smiled and dipped his head,"Thank you Milady. He formed a seal with his left hand and disappeared in a explosion of mist that showered the plants with drops of water.

Kaori sighed and closed her eyes for a moment as she let her head fall back against her chair, "Of course I would be afraid, it wouldn't be me on the front lines anymore. The Kage is the final defense, when all else fails, the Kage must stand strong. I would fear for the lives of all my shinobi." It pained her to admit this fact, but it was, in deed, a fact. "All of Sunagakure is mine, under my care, and I worry, everyday, that I'm not doing a good enough job taking care of all of you. I worry that I'm not good enough as a Kage. I worry that war will break out and my people will die." She looked up at Kaz and gave him a small smile, "And though I know I shouldn't have favorites, I worry that you will be harmed, or worse, die. You are important to me, and not just as one of my Chunnin." She admitted with a slight shrug, trying to play it off as something other than the major confession that it was.

The smile left his face as he kneeled down to that of the Kages height while she was sitting. Placing a hand on her shoulder giving a very focused look into her eyes. "Kaori, I'll fight at any front lines if you wish it. I'll survive every battle if you wish it. I'll even kill any target if you desire them dead. But my own personal wish is that you stay out of harms way. I will follow any order you give me happily to the grave. But know this, Nothing matters more to me than your safety. To me you are Sunagakure and because you lead this village, it is my home." Standing up and looking out the window over the village. "Sunagakure is a great nation, I gladly put my life on the line for it, but I do that day in and out for you."Shooting a serious glance back towards her. "I will never let anyone touch you... In.. any way..." As he spoke those last words he had suddenly felt as though he should not have. Glancing over and seeing the damn lotus on the desk still. Sighing some to himself. Not knowing now if all of that came from his own heart or if it was reeled out of him by the effects of the lotus.

Kaori was silent as Kaz spoke his piece, then she noticed how he talked of and how his sincerity seemed to fade when he noticed her diamond lotus. She hesitantly reached out to touch Kaz's gloved hand, "Kaz, my lotus does not influence what you are feeling, it does not implant emotions, it merely brings them to the forefront. As for not letting anyone touch me.... Well... " Kaori blushed and looked down at her lap for a moment, "You're very protective of me, I'm not used to that, but... I like it." Kaori let her head fall back against her chair once more and she sighed, her cat eats drooped, "I hate the thought of being sequestered away while those I love are fighting. I'm protective of those I call mine, you know this. I can't stand the thought of not being on the front lines protecting you and everyone else... My life is worthless if those I love are harmed... And you are one of the few on that personal list...." Kaori flushed when she realized what she'd said out loud. One would almost think she was influenced by her own Jutsu, though she knew that wasn't the case.

Kaz looked down a bit when the reminded him that the lotus had only helped him speak his feelings. So basically it was out, but at the same time it seemed as though she had slipped with her own. Smiling some hiding his excitement."Well it seems we have come to an impasse then. You want to keep us all save, including me, and I will make sure no one harms you. Maybe I should be stationed closer to you so that we both get our wish.You could defend as many shinobi as you want so long as I'm fighting beside you."He knew it wasn't his place to make snide demands, but in this case they had both played out their hands on the table, it was merely a suggestion that he thought might at the very least make her giggle.

Kaori chuckled slightly at Kaz and brushed some hair out of her eyes, "Perhaps, that could be a good idea. The Kage always needs someone loyal to be by their side... And on a personal note, I know I would feel better having you beside me, than in front of me." Kaori looked over at Nova, who was lounging in a bright patch of sunshine, completely uncaring of what was being said. She chuckled slightly and looked back up at Kaz, "Honestly, I don't know how I've gone so long just being the Kazekage, and not Kaori, without snapping. It's stressful, more than my predecessor ever let on. But it's fulfilling. Maybe I just need someone like you around... " She tried to play the last line off as teasing, despite how serious she was about that. Kaori would be the first to admit that she was not very socially inclined, that was her brother's job. She shook her head slightly at her own thoughts.

Kaz smiled before instantly making light of the situation."Its settled then, Mission accepted. To protect my kage from all forms of harm as her body guard. I will be relieved of that duty when we both retire."His smile halfway faded as he turned himself to pick up his spear. He wanted to say more, he wanted to say everything His insides were screaming so loud at him now that he knew how she felt. Everything was right there for the taking, the only thing he really wanted. But he grit his teeth and spun it around once landing it onto his back. Turned around with his eyes closed and smiling like usual."I should continue to train up that runt. Just remember if your leaving the office or village for anything, just send for me and I'll be right by you."
In all honesty he knew what he wanted would never work. How could he hope to hold a relationship with a woman of that stature. How much hell it would cause her as the leader of the village. As many times he acted off of his own impulses this was the one time he knew, that if he did, all would be destroyed. This way he was allowed to be with her in a way that was acceptable to the village. A way that she wanted herself. He headed towards the door, with a single tear descending his cheek but never breaking his smile.

Kaori felt like something hand crumbled a little at Kaz's seemingly casual dismissal of the topic at hand, but she knew, at least partially, where he was coming from. When he began to leave though, she caught herself standing up before the thought had actualy crossed her mind; hand out as if to stop him. She blinked and shook her head before she all but slammed her hand down onto her desk, just narrowly missing several flowers in the process. Kaori grit her teeth and shook her head before she looked up at Kaz, a suspicious shine in her hazy eyes as she watched him. What else was there to say? She couldn't change his mind, after all; he already thought that she was manipulating him with her lotus. She looked at the blossom, she had been so proud of it when she'd made it, but it seemed to do nothing more than cause the one she cared for the most, the most troubles. Kaori, without thinking, grabbed the diamond lotus and flung it across her office and watched it shatter into a million sharp, tiny, pieces. She wasn't aware that Kaz hadn't quite left the office yet, or she wouldn't have done something so emotion-driven. The tamer slumped into her chair and put her hands over her face, just then noticing that they were trembling. This was why she hated opening herself up like this. This was why she hid behind the mask of Kazekage, unaffected and uncaring on a personal level. Her true weakness was not that she didn't care, it was that she cared far too much. """"

The smile had faded when he heard her anger swell up behind him. He did not need to turn around to know why she was upset. They both knew exactly what was going on. If he was younger her might have played games at it or toyed with the idea, but they both needed to be mature about this. "I know your upset, I know what you want.... I want it too. For right now this is what we can do. You are my Kage and I am your soldier. This way I can at least be near you whenever you want, no one will question it." A small frown formed on Kaz's lips as he continued to speak."Maybe some day we can settle down, really enjoy each others company without care of anything else. That option will always be there for you and I. So long as we stay true it will always be there." Continuing his walk from the office.

Kaori knew Kaz was right, she knew he was, but that didn't stop it from hurting. She watched him leave, silently. She looked over at Nova and felt the tears fall before she wiped them away and then pushed that particular emotion aside. She would just have to woman up and take what she was being given. She new when she was given the office that being Kage would not be easy. She sighed for a moment and then composed herself, just in case someone else came into her office. She might as well have a revolving door on that thing. Kaori growled to herself and shook her head, "Just one thing. All I've ever asked for, in all my time as Kazekage, I've only asked for one thing, and it's an impossibility. But then, no one ever said life was fair." Kaori sighed and went over to the basin of water in a corner and splashed her face to try and compose herself.

Iwao hadn’t known what to do when Kaori sent him from the office, so decided to just hang out outside the building, leaning against the wall. As he listened and saw the people coming in and out of the tower, he decided he wouldn’t try to stop kaz when he left, and walked over to stand below the window to Kaori’s office. Having heard the whole conversation between them, after hearing all the stuff about Konoha, Kris’s mission, and Nari, Iwao felt he should go talk to his sister, and started manipulating the magnetic fields he generated to rise from the ground and fly slowly up to the office window. Stepping inside just as Kaori had finished composing herself Iwao spoke out in his usual rumbling voice, “Nothing is impossible, Kaori.” He then walked over and placed his huge paw-like hand on her slender shoulder, speaking more softly, “We’re shinobi, we DO the impossible; therefore, for us, nothing is truly impossible. Kaz wants to be by your side, let him. You can protect each other. And I’ll always be here guarding both your backs.” There was no snide tone to his voice, he wasn’t trying to salt an open wound here, The massive tamer was sincerely trying to help and make his sister happy again.
