This one had bolted so much faster than the other...
Something was amiss and even as the bear lopped after the stallion he was unsure. Something in those glowing eyes spoke to him like the previous hadn't. Deep within those amber eyes, locked away and encased like a bug rested sense - logic, discipline and honour that he had never seen previously. This doubt made him less inclined to enact what he had wished to do on the Kalona before.
Nevertheless, following the scent of blood dropping from the stallions wounds, he soon located the cantering form and pursued it - when he reached the stallion it would be then that he made his decision and only then. He just hoped that while he might be away from the young mare, the Spirits would favour her as they had done before...and would let her live.

[.RP LOG.] ...:The Finding of the Spoiled Unicorn:... ((Already gained Para's permission to post and Continue... can change "title" later))Savanna angled her wings just a little more. The evening sky made flying difficult, for thermals were rare. As per usual, the mare flew around. Today, she had found a hidden clearing. Curious, she flew closer, only to find that the usual creatures of any forest were not commonly found. Not knowing if there was some disease in the area or not, Savanna made sure not to land - but that didn't mean she wasn't going to fly close to the tree tops!
She had gotten so used to seeing nothing that been the light breeze brought a scent of blood - and lots of it, the mare almost fell from the sky. Like a moth to the flame, Savanna searched to find to whom the metallic smell belonged. Not to feed -no, that was disgusting- but to see if by chance there was any way she could help out.
Flying was easiest, but given the light breeze, Savanna felt that she could narrow the distance down... so she actually landed carefully (which was difficult due to the trees), confident she wouldn't have walk far.
Sure enough, she didn't have to go far. The sight that met her eyes made her heart melt. The cruelty that anyone could possess to mutilate a creature so fine was beyond her comprehension.
With tentative steps, Savanna approached. Her stomach lurched at the rancid smill, but her heart refused to leave when someone so in peril may need her. Finally, the mare nuzzled the broken form carefully, searching for any sign of life.
There! A pulse! She rejoiced silently, and did her best to inspect the damage in the low light.
Not much to say, it was bad. Savanna weighed her options; so many things could go wrong here.... and what was her choice to save this individual? She could only think of two things: first, the bleeding needed to be stopped; and second, the figure on the ground needed to stay warm.
With a shiver of disgusted anticipation, the mare dropped her head again, and this time licked the blood from the poor unicorn's face. The taste made her want to vomit, but Savanna's will was stealed against it. This had to be done.
Her work wasn't pretty, but by the time she had gotten to a point where she felt that enough wounds were clotted to keep death at bay Savanna was about ready to pass out herself. The constant ingestion of blood (she spat out as much as she could, but of course, that wasn't fully effeicient) was getting to her and she was feeling more sick as time passed.
The mare groaned in discomfort, but folded her legs and positioned herself right up the unconscious unicorn. To keep in as much heat as possible, Savanna folded a wing across the form.... and slowly fell into a fitful sleep of her own - for whatever had done this could still be out there but now she was too exhausted to truly care.

The sounds of 'war' had long since dulled from the mind of the fallen mare. Lost in her own, deep and dark void she did little more than cry out in her own solitude. Oh, she had always hated the dark! When night fall had approached she had always sought out the company of another just to have the security of some one nearby - regardless of their size and species.
It had been something she had endured for a long time, her father had been incapable of weaning her off the childish fear and he had suspected it had something to do with the fateful day in the forest. So instead, he had advised her to make friends everywhere she went and that would mean that she would never be alone.
As a child she had misinterpreted this, while her father had meant genuine friends she had a warped understanding as she matured. It had been the manipulation of a single stallion who had caused it and so she had decided there was no turning back - or rather at the time she had come to the conclusion. As she had travelled she had realised that there was more to be had from honourable.
...Look what that had given her.
Her breaths remained ragged and her form still despite her awareness of the sudden warmth surrounding her. She had believed that death would be cold, but it appeared the spirits had taken pity on her and had provided her with a gentle embrace to guide her on her way. Incapable of moving, her limbs felt heavy, stiff...useless. Sleep was not fitful, she writhed and quivered at the darkness in her head yet none came to get her.
In fact, it was only as the birds began to chirp and sing and the forest seemed to come to life once more that the mare released the softest of groans and slowly slid her eye open. Heavy lidded, she became aware of the sun's rays attempting to fight their way through the thick canopy and the eerie landscape almost seemed to have transformed.
Continuing to look around with her half opened eye, she could help but wonder.
Was she dead?

Savanna had dreamed as she usually did... flying around. This night, however, she was being followed by some unknown presence. While she wasn't flying away or felt in any danger, it was uncomfortable.
It wasn't until the form under her wing stirred that the brown mare was brought out of her sleepful flight. Even then, it was a slow awakening, as if her mind wanted to awake but her body still fought to remain motionless and rest.
"Uh..." the mare grumbled sleepily, "fine... fine, just lemme sleep awhile longer..."
Savanna lifted her wing, and repositioned to have it folded at her side - at that moment uncomfortable smooshed between herself and the other mare. "If you insist on being awake," she whispered, "then can you move? You're smooshing my wing."

"You're smooshing my wing."
The voice made her all too aware that she wasn't alone and the reference to wings made her quiver very suddenly. The beast who had attacked her had been winged after all. But then again, as her form rested against this 'wing' it didn't feel spiked, it felt soft and almost fluffy as though they were the wings of a bird.
Could she move?
No, her limbs still felt heavy and the most movement she could afford was a slight shift of her head and a very gentle flick of her tail. Barely a movement at all and certainly not the most helpful to whoever lay at her side. By the sounds of it, the individual was female so she shouldn't really panic given the attacker had been male.
"No," She replied softly, opening her eye a little wider in the hopes of getting a better view.
All in all, she as much warmer than she had been before so perhaps the mare was safe enough to move away of her own accord?

Savanna's head just happened to be right by the fallen form's ear. She snorted with mock exasperating. A low chuckle came from her throat as the mare reluctantly woke up more and more with each word, "No? You unicorns... always think someone else should do the manual labor... very well...." The mare shifted her weight a little, giving her poor wing the room it needed to be comfortably wedged instead of painfully so.
"There?" she asked, and finally... Savanna was awake. Her neck came around so she could look the other mare in the eye. Her forelock was tussled from sleep but her bright eyes had a kind of warm-caring (almost motherly) expression in them. "How are you feeling?"

How was she feeling?
If the mare hadn't had any manners she would have launched into a huge rant that left the poor wind reeling but alas... Instead she simply groaned and rested her cheek against the dry soil. It was easy to smell her own blood and while she so desired to move her limbs were currently disobeying her requests. She was starting to gain feeling in them once more - slowly but surely but no a sufficient amount to support herself just yet.
"Like death warmed up," She croaked in response, attempting to stretch only to have her body give a shudder of protest. Well, it was a much large response than the previous quiver and perhaps a few more might encourage the blood to flow with more ease in due course. Rig now though...
"So thirsty," She confessed, her tongue dry.

Savanna watched as the mare tried to move - albeit painfully. That was a good sign, at least. Many times the will to live was enough to keep one alive. She had seen some with less wounds than this lone unicorn die.
The mare smiled softly, "Well, things could be worse. I'm just glad the bleeding stopped in time. At least you have some strength left. You rest, and I will find you some water. There was a stream nearby. Yell if you need me." Savanna was about to ask, if she had the strength to... but didn't want to dampen the unicorn's spirits.
That said, Savanna got to her hooves and shook the grass and dirt from her fur. Most of it stuck, having had blood mixed in with it. It took all of her will power to not snarl at the offending mixture. She'd have to plunge into that stream as well....
The mare took to the air, ignoring the glory of the wind currents along her feathers to the matter at hand.

Well that was a cheery thought! She knew the mare was attempting to reassure her and there was a part of her that accepted and appreciated it. It still didn't dull the pain though and the most she could do was allow a faint ghost of a smile to appear on her lips. She supposed the mare was right, it could be worse and she could very well be dead but there was a part of her that wondered if death might not have been a little better.
...She was fairly positive she looked a mess, beyond recognition and probably horrid enough to petrify any soquili who encountered her. Either that or they would pity her and there was a part of her (her pride) that loathed the thought of being pitied for being 'less fortunate' than another.
Nevertheless, as the other mare flew away the unicorn continued to test her limbs. With each attempt she was slowly gaining feeling, albeit not much but with every shudder her limbs would jerk a little more. From a distance she may have looked like she was twitching but from close up it would be a relief to see that her legs were moving ever so slightly.
Perhaps with a little water, she would improve a bit more.

Savanna reached the stream in no time at all. Without a second though, she dove in. Rolling around in the water, the mare was able to get most of the blood off. Her wings were not pleased with being wet, but then again - the dried blood didn't exactly help them much either. She would just have to deal with the extra weight the water provided.
All clean and feeling refreshed, the mare looked around for something - anything - that could be used like a bucket. For once, she cursed her hooved feet, for this was a time that opposable thumbs would be greatly appreciated. Luck was with her, for Savanna soon found a hollowed out, thick tree branch. There was a small hole, but if she got the water to the other mare soon enough, there shouldn't be an issue.
Going back to the stream, Savanna dunked the wood in and it immediately filled with water. Quick as a bee, she took back into the air, and flew with all her might.
By the time she had landed again, only a small amount of water had escaped. Savanna set the make-shift bucket be the mare's head so that the small hole trickled water towards her mouth. Without saying another word, she went a few paces and grabbed a cupped piece of wood for the water to gather so the mare could drink -hopefully- more comfortably.
"Here, dear... some water..." Savanna said quietly and then stepped back to give her some space.

Savanna really was a very clever mare. Very few would have been swift enough, nor smart enough to construct something like that. It was so simple and yet worked to the greatest affect. The unicorn was able to lift her head slightly and still reach the water with little strain. It was a delight (to say the least) as the ice cold water touched her parched lips and began to slide down her throat.
While painful, it was refreshing and deeply, deeply appreciated. The mare wasn't exactly sure who Savanna was or why she had chosen to help her but words couldn't express it. Perhaps the mare lived in these forests and had heard her? Maybe the mare could explain who the stallion had been - she knew the Spirit Bear had saved her but the stallion...
"Thank you," She offered at last, her pink eyes fixed on the winged mare, "...Although I need to ask -" She took a breath, her sides heaving in an uncomfortable fashion, "Do you know where I happen to be?"

Savanna was preening her wings, keeping an eye on the unicorn, as she drank water from the makeshift bucket and bowl. It was awhile before the victimized mare spoke... and when she did the winged one stopped and looked at her.
"Where you are? Ummm...." she pondered, "Well, to be honest, I am not exactly sure. I was flying over, this is the forest... I saw a clearing over yonder... and some foothills and mountains even further away."
Savanna paused and then eyed the unicorn, "How did you get here? It didn't seem like it would be a very easy travel." She didn't want to mention whatever attacked the mare... it may be a touchy subject still and she didn't want to upset the other mare.

"Spirits," Sparkles replied softly, offering a weak smile as though questioning her own naivety. It had been through her choices and beliefs alone that she had wandered in this direction. She had been alone when she woke that morning, no company had came and so she had chosen to explore one of the reaches she had yet to see nearby...this had been the place.
"They work in strange ways, they told me to come and I did," Her voice was faint, almost wistful as she recalled some of the events that had transgressed. Had it not been for the spirits she suspected she would have never seen the Spirit Bear but again...she had never been able to express her thanks to him.
"It is not that hard to climb the slopes, more so to navigate these woods..." Sitting up somewhat, the mare took another sip of water and savoured the sweet taste of the liquid on her lips. "Everything is an obstruction, my horn always gets caught."

The mare was talking, that was a good sign. Savanna knelt to her knees and then settled to lie down nearby. She listened attentively, showing her interest. Granted, the talk of Spirits concerned her. She had heard of such beings, but... they talked to this unicorn? All of a sudden, the mare was worried the younger one's sanity. Savanna wouldn't say that, though... especially not now.
"Hmph," the mare snorted. "I know the feeling. Wings some feel like they are more hassle than they're worth. I can only imagine a horn doing the same thing." Especially, the mare thought, since you couldn't fly with it!
Savanna wasn't sure if it was yet a good idea to ask what had happened to the unicorn. Some more time might be needed.
