Orin set the bowl aside and put a hand on her shoulder, turning her to him. "I'll make you a potion for that. Just stay here and hold still, okay?" He pulled a thick fur blanket over her and began pulling herbs out of jars, throwing them into the pot. "Your John should be back soon. He's calling off the search. You've worried a lot of people, you know. When the colonel hears..." He looked back and saw fresh tears in Keira's eyes as she looked up at him. "Of course, we don't have to tell him. I'm sure the patrons of my inn will agree to keep quiet." He turned his back to her and finished brewing the potion. Orin poured it into a small glass. "Here. Drink this; it won't taste very good, but it'll help. Be careful. It's hot."

 Keira looked at him as he had many herbs and potions. She nodded as he said he would make her a potion for sleep. When he said the Colonel more tears form. He would be upset with her as what she did was reckless. "He woukd eventually find out. Word would reach him." Keira took the glass as she looked at it. She blew it for a few seconds than slowly began to drink it "Its awful." She smiled but she drank it again. Keira began to feel sleepy. "Is it suppose to make me sleep?"

Orin nodded. "A dreamless sleep so that you can heal. It does not do to have nightmares and go thrashing about. It only irritates the wounds." He stoked the fire until the room was thick and hot. Making sure that the thick fur blanket was tucked securely around her, he strode toward the door. "I hear John. I'll make him dinner; we'll eat in the dining room so we do not disturb you. I'll bring you food when you wake. Sleep now." Orin closed the door quietly behind him and went to greet John.

Keira could barley keep her eyes open as she drank thr rest and set it down. She laid back as she saw Orin's face begins to fade. Her eyes finally closed as the darknessbgrabbed hold of her. She slept dreamless as Keira stood alone in the dark as if she entered the realms of darkness. John....Forgive me....

John sat picking at his food, reluctant to eat. "Can't you just let me see her?" "No," Orin said firmly. "She needs to rest and heal. You need food. Going in there won't do either of you very much good. Though," he added, picking up his glass and examining the wine against the light, "I do wish you'd let me clean your cuts and heal you a bit." John shook his head. "No. I deserve it for upsetting her. I tried to make her accept that she was our equal, tried to make her not afraid to face you. Obviously, I was wrong." I bet she hates me now...

Keira woke up from the darkness as her mind would not shut up. She replayed everything in her head as shr felt like a fool. John was doing what he thought was right and yet she acted like a child. I mean he was right that she had to wake up to see that if she wants a future with John, than she has to get used to the customs and the civilans who live here. But she did had thouvhts as.it was best to leave and go back to being with humans. Keira stared at the celing. No, she couldn't return as what happen if another human was here and fell in love and got married. She couldn't take that away. Keira noe tealized she is being utterly stupid as she now have to be an example of showing humans can live in this world. Keira yried to move but her ankle and side started to hurt. She had to wait until the healing process is over.

John's heart was aching. He longed to see Keira, but knew that he had to give her space; she probably hated him and he felt deeply hurt. He wondered if she even wanted to marry him anymore. Perhaps it was best to just call off the wedding. She could be much happier with another man. He sighed and watched Orin examine the wine. "I think they were wrong," Orin said, "I knew it was a gamble, but I didn't think it would be a gamble in my favor. They thought it was the rare wisp fruit wine. But now I think it might actually be the sky pirate brand. Highly illegal, filtered through diamons and sapphires, but delicious." He looked back down. "Want a taste?" John frowned and shook his head. "I want to see Keira," he decided. "I have to know if she still loves me." "No. You have to eat. When the both of you have a more level head, you can meet. Now... eat."

Keira wanted to see John as ahe has to apokogize to him. He was right, Orin did needed peace and running away everytime he was around was not the answer. She felt hurt as she knew she hurt John, badly. She needed to make up for it as she still loves him. God, she loves him so much thay it hurts. She knew he was going to die and shr wanted him to have the best memories of happiness, not pain, sadness, and dispear. Keira yried to at least sit up which she did as she looked around the room.

John took a bite of his food. "When did you last take your medicine, friend," Orin asked. John looked at his dining companion in horror. "What did you say?" Orin handed him the glass. "Drink." John couldn't refuse. He sipped the wine. "Good, isn't it?" "You've dosed me, haven't you?" John stood, sending the glass of wine crashing to the floor. "Yes. I can't let you turn into it, John. No matter how much you think it will prolong your life. You know this as well as I do. It had to be done." John's hands shook. "The colonel? He gave the vial to you, didn't he?" "Indeed. It was necessary, my friend. I hope you can forgive me." "I want to see Keira." Orin leaned back in his chair. "I won't stop you. Go. See your human. She should be healing well by now."

Keira felt better as her side and ankle was healed. She slowly stood as she ran her hand through her hair so she can be at least presentable. Keira sat down again as she had to figure out exactky what she was going to say to John. She knew she had explaining to do since the dress had minor rips and tears. The Colonel is not going to like this. Keira,looked down at the floor in shame.

John pulled the door open slowly, dreading facing her. She was already awake. "You worried me," he said quietly, looking at the floor. He hesitated. "You don't have to do anything you don't want to," he told her, "Including marrying me. I know it was wrong of me to try and have you befriend Orin, but please know it was with the best intentions. Should I have a waitress bring you dinner?" His heart sank as he realized that he was to die soon, anyway. Perhaps it's best for her if she moves on.

Keira looked up as John walked in. Her heart hurt as she hurt him badly. Fresh tears fell as she heard his words. She got up as she pulled him in a deep and passiinate kiss. She was being selfish. "Shut up John." She kissed him again until she released him. She sat him down on the bed as she stood befote him. "I am sorry John, please forgive me. I reacted wrong as I know you were trying to do the right thing." She knelt down as she looked at him. She grabbed his hand and kissed it. "I love you John and I don't want another man, I want you. I was being selfish as I was trying to run away and hide. But now I know my place his hear with you. I have to be ab exanple that humans can live here. I have to admit I have to get use to all this customs but it doesn't excuse my actions. I still want to narry yhe man I love but that's if he wants me. And either way I am going to try being friends wiith Orin."

John could feel the drug of his medication taking effect. "Of course I want to marry you. I always will - I love you." He was feeling dizzy. "I promise you'll never have to do anything that you don't want to." He stumbled and braced himself against the door before sinking to the ground, panting. His vision began to blur and his heart began to pound. How much did he give me...?

Keira was hmrekieved as she now wanted to give John the best time of happiness before he dies. Keira than noticed something was wrong. "John? You alright?" She looked at him as she placed both hands on his face. "Look at me John and relax." She didn't know what to do.

John's hearing was distorted, Keira's voice coming to him as if from far away. His mouth became very dry. "The medicine," was all he managed to choke out. He grabbed a pitcher of water from a small stool by the door and drained it. "I'm going to kill him," he said, pulling himself up by the door frame. "I am going to murder him, right here and now."
