Castle Ballroom

User ImageNiamh Dubh Von Rohr had already given her coat to her maid, whom Sigmund had affectionately dubbed Beatrice, and was straightening herself to enter the ball room. The last step, however, was to remove three carefully crafted bracelets from a small bag she carried with her. They sported white candied flowers with painted blush from the center, shaped and coloured much like miniature orchids. She slipped the bracelets on her wrist, as though they were a corsage of some kind, and tucked the pins underneath the bands; they were made to become an adornment for men or women, and it was just that Niamh found it easier to eat them if they were on the wrist than the dress itself.

Although the ball didn't seem too full yet, Niamh somehow managed to find herself directed by the flow of people towards the food. That made sense: where else would they want to be. She found some milk, probably meant as an addition to coffee, and poured herself some into a little goblet. Sipping it, she looked over the food with an internal sigh. Something interesting had better happen, or she dragged herself and Sigmund to the ball for no reason.

And then she noticed Rajih, who seemed to be sulking. She couldn't help but smile a little, making her way past everyone to stand with Rajih. "I have never seen someone attend a ball in a sweater before, Rajih. You must be brave, or else you flaunt your nonconformism," Niamh suggested, her mirror-silver eyes lit up with a smile. She stood close to him, and pretended to be engrossed in the appetizers, whispering up conspiratorially: "You want to know how I get through these events, Rajih?..." she lifted her candy bracelet up to her mouth, and took a bite of the petal, breaking it off. "Secret sugar," she finished, lifting a bracelet to him so he could see for himself that the flowers were sugary.

"I have an extra one; the sugar might give you some energy." Niamh smiled inwardly, as she attempted to return to her serious facade. Sometimes, because she had grown up so fast and unwillingly, Niamh found herself unable to quell the childish excitement within her.

From across the room, she spotted her brother, looking very lost. Sigmund looked so cute, though; she was proud of his wardrobe choice. She waved to him, just slightly, knowing he would still likely catch her motion.

He had her well and good, Salem figured. He wouldn't presume to think she'd been swept into his glammer; no, no, the woman held far too much power to fall under the sway of basic charms, unlike the more suggestible and gullible humans and witches he normally dealt with. It had been Salem's silver tongue that had won him interest this time around. When the mood struck him, he could twist words and hide meanings like it was a magic act, set to astound and amaze the audience with what seemed like genuine authenticity. He didn't know how long she'd buy into it before trying to have a look behind the curtain, but he smiled while he could and coated his words in honey.

“I know power when I see it.” Salem leaned in close, then, his voice barely more than a whisper, that its statement might be hidden from prying ears other than those it spoke to. “I know what you are, Poison, and it is double the pleasure to make your acquaintance.” In these, at least, Salem spoke true. He counted all witch eaters as his beloved kin, and even if he occasionally played with them, he'd never take action that might bring them harm, not without absolute necessity and proper justification.

“As for myself,” Salem exclaimed, stepping back again from the intimate closeness, his voice taking on its former cadence, “I'm here in case, so I am! Events, events as of late have been so strange, so odd, so very harmful to the good name of...” He stopped himself, realizing he was speaking aloud. “Oops! Almost said too much, silly old man I am. I'm here in case any of the drastic events of the past few days feel the need to bleed over.” He sounded as if he spoke for someone else, but in reality, he was here purely on his own behalf, so curious was he to see how exactly these attacks were going to culminate. There was no denying they WOULD culminate.

Sigmund DID catch the motion. If there was one thing an entire life spent in a silent, solemn graveyard had taught him, it was how to pick up on the tiniest hint of a stimulus. He knew his sister and what to look for in her, and when the slightest trace of white flashed in the corner of his eye, he snapped to attention and centered his gaze upon her. Of course she'd find him first, though, how could he expect any different? She'd found him, she'd protect him, and she'd probably always be quick to the draw when solving the little emergencies that Sigmund managed to embroil himself in. He smiled and gave his own little hint of a wave, and started toward her...

… Through... Oh, dear, people. Lots of people, though.

It was nothing he couldn't handle with a deep breath and determined fixation on Niamh, and he eventually stood before her, smiling. He let out a deep breath and panted, “I'm glad you found me before too many showed up. If I'd gotten lost, I...” He paused, anxiety at the thought welling up in his gut. “I don't know what I would have done.”

He noticed all at once that Niamh had been talking to a boy in a green sweater. A sudden stab of terror welled up in his gut, and he worried that he might have interrupted their conversation. “... O-oh, hello,” he said, haltingly, “Sorry if I, uh... interrupted... I'm her brother, you see! I'm Sigmund.”

Location: Castle Ballroom

Lea had absolutely no idea how he did it but here he was finally at the Hallow's Eve Ball, all decked out in his new black and brown tuxedo which he had managed to alter successfully on the second attempt after he had gotten back to his room the day before. The ballroom was huge and he hadn't ever seen so many people gathered in one place at the same time on such a grand scale. It was almost as if everyone in Lilium was here, all dressed in their finest at what many would refer to as the event of the year and he had to wonder at the back of his mind if he would run into Kei and Lulu at some point.

That wouldn't be the highlight of this evening however. He had to meet up with Xerxes, Cedar and Kalypso first. Now where did they say that they would be before they had gone their separate ways 2 nights ago. The food table right next to the main entrance which would make it right... there. With his tail held up above the ground and close to his lower body in order to prevent others from stepping on it, Lea braced himself as he began to make his way through the crowd, emeralds glancing around him in the hope that he would spot a familiar face soon...

"Do you now?" Masika questioned, her eyes closing for a moment, revealing the gold painted across their lids, before opening again, her look more stern. "And what is it that I am? An attractive woman? A powerful witch?"

As the man before her stepped back one of her snakes snapped in agitation and she lifted a clawed hand to gently stroke its head, soothing the creature before slowly turning green eyes to the patchwork figure before her. She took a moment to look, really look at what she was seeing, to decide whether or not remaining in close proximity to this man was wise or not. Judging from the way he looked and from a gentle brush of her magic, it seemed that what she was seeing was a true appearance, not an illusion, and he most definitely not wearing makeup; how intriguing.

However when he spoke again her brows lifted, her stance relaxing slightly as she took a quick glance the ball; speaking in a code of sorts would most likely be the best. She had never really met anyone that supported a Majin such as herself and especially not one that had consumed the heart of a witch. Usually she had to play at being a witch, flirt with the right people in order to feed and survive. Their world wasn't exactly a pleasant one, after all, and it wasn't as if she had ever consumed any other hearts after her first, anyways...

"A fan, is it?" she questioned, smiling and fluttering her eyelashes a little, looking flattered for any outsiders watching them. "Oh yes... Those awful attacks as of late. They certainly have a way of throwing off a girl's plans."

How painfully droll. Miusa hated formalities. She despised congregations, and she loathed being suffocated by the repeating images of promenading youth and their overused, past-their-due-date pickup lines. Had she a true choice in the matter, she'd not have scraped her being into Lumena to attend such a festivity. Well, here she was, but that didn't mean she'd have to dress up like a fool.

The Makai teacher sat at one of the smaller tables next to a large window, a curvy leg crossed over the other as she idly sipped her Orange Pekoe. Ever-studious eyes grazed over the crowd in the large area, keeping a particular eye on the ones she could recognize as students. There had been such a bad feeling in her stomach since the murders had started to happen, and while she couldn't be held accountable for the lives of others, she had to look after her students, impetuous young prawns as they might be.

A shadow outside caught her eye briefly....wait, was it a shadow? Did something actually move? It didn't feel like someone was out there. Hn. A raccoon, possibly. Probably.

Graveyard - Castle Ballroom

She pretended not to be startled when he turned to look at her. She didn't mean to startle him but well, there you were. She flushed as he stared at her, did she look weird? This was her first time at these kind of events after all, especially being part of the nomadic tribes.

"Yes um, very handsome." Gravy fidgeted before relaxing, there was no need for nerves at the event after all. She smoothed her dress as a sign of wiping the nerves away before cocking her hip at the man. He was quick as always with his noticing her magic, she watched him watching her before giving her a reassuring smile.

"Are you sure your alright?" She looked over him, pressing her hand to his cheek in worry before shrugging, Her hand reached as another one of the waiters passed by. There were so many of them, before slipping the champagne glass off the tray. "Here you go Cruor." She smiled before looking over at the floor longingly. She wanted to dance but...she wanted to do it with Cruor first. While using the pretense of protection, she just wanted something to remember this night. Something positive on it.

"Nothing to mention yet." Her magic felt the tug of majin's coming in. And a Witch eater or two, but they hadn't made a move. She waited for Shaden to make her appearance as well.

Rajih - Castle Ballroom

His head turned slowly at the girl, noticing her gorgeous gown and smiled. A pretty lady so early in the night! "Hello Niamh? That's your name yes?" Rajih looked over his outfit before smiling, "Flaunt my nonconformism?" His head cocked at her curiously before shrugging, "I'm not really into formal wear as much." he shrugged before smiling, "Better to be comfortable then stiff right?"

When she stepped closer (he tried really hard not to blush but it happened when girls got really close), He leaned in to hear her speak, they're heads close together like consipitors. "Eh? A secret for the event?" He leaned in even closer, his head leaning into what she showed before smelling the sweet scent of sugar treats.

"Are those treats?" Rajih grinned before laughing, "A extra one you say? You wouldn't mind......." He grinned as she handed it over, He like her cute face. "You look cute when you smile like that." He made the nonchalant comment before seeing the brother come over. "Nice to meet you Sigmund! You guys look awfully alike....are you twins?"

He was wondering how on earth he had managed to get roped into doing this.

Being a chaperon for a children's dance was, to say the least, not very high on Professor X's list of things he would like to do. At this point, he was rather hoping he could sneak out unnoticed - or perhaps even get hit on the head and feign a headache.

Then he could get away from this impossibly dull situation.

He stood somewhere near a door (that was essential), his back against the wall. He had not bothered to dress up; at least, not any more than he would usually wear. The black boots and torn coat were getting him disapproving looks from the more traditional teachers, but X could not have cared less.

A few stray gusts of smoke curled around his fingers, solidified, then dissipated into nothingness. Around his neck, the serpent made a small hissing noise, and X absently stroked its scaley back with gloved hands.

"How impossibly tedious this is," he muttered, mostly to himself, although a few school age girls standing nearby gave him a startled look and darted off. X gave a derisive snort, then raised his cup of spiked black coffee to his lips.

There was a movement just within the peripheral vision of his gaze - something had moved outside, quick and shadowy.

Professor X's eyes flickered to the window. They rested there a moment, then turned away, a small smile curving his mouth upwards.

Xerxes arrived at last, hoping he wasn't terribly late in meeting with the others. He had tried to make himself look suitably presentable in the plain black suit that he picked up the other day while shopping with Lea. He put off the altering to make a hole in his pants for his tail until the last moment and now sporting several bandages on his fingers from poking them too hard with the needle. He altered most of his clothing, especially since leaving to attend Makai Royal Academy, but he still wasn't very good at it.

When he entered the ballroom, Xerxes had to pause a moment and take in the splendor of the room. The ballroom looked so grandly decorated to him that he forgot about all the rumors and suspicions behind the recent murders. He shook himself out of his silly gaping and turned his attention to the crowd already gathered in the ballroom. Where was he supposed to meet with the other again? His red eyes swept the room, scanning faces, as his tail twitched behind him. He wandered over to the food table right next to the main entrance. It looked like a pretty good spot to wait while looking for the others.

Uaithne hadn't really planned to come to the ball, nor did he plan to stay for long, and as such he wasn't wearing anything more fancy then the uniform that he wore to the academy. It was the nicest thing he owned after all, no grass stains, no patches, and it wasn't a hand me down. For him it was quite flashy so he hoped that people wouldn't question him wearing it to his gathering. While this wasn't really a place that he would normally find himself for sure, it was just to... crowded for his comfort, he would rather fit in then stand out.

There seemed to be so many people here, so much noise, and far to much magic, and it was all mixing together in a way that just left the majin's head spinning a bit. He looked around from where he was hiding out, pressed against the wall and having taken to a shadowy spot, watching the others as they gathered and talked. There was a wide variety of people here, every sort of age group, all sorts of different rankings as well, and he could even spot a mononoke or two among the crowd. So many witches and so many kinds, so unlike what he'd seen before during his somewhat sheltered upbringing in his small house at the edge of Clarus Arbor he thought to himself.

Taking a half step forward he decided that, while he didn't want to be near the center of attention by any means, he would like to get a better look at some of the interesting people. From a distance it should he alright, right? He sure hoped so. He knew that starring could be construed as rude, far from what he wanted to appear as, but there were some of the people here who were just... so terribly interesting due to their looks alone. He would do what he could not to step on toes and maybe he could even come to enjoy this gathering, even if it weren't what he was normally used to.

Sigmund did, indeed, see her wave; she knew this as he approached very soon after. She smiled at her twin, resting one hand against her own cheek, and regarding him. "Did you run far, brother, dear?" She paused, then, and tapped one finger against her lips. "If you get lost, I'll always come for you, you know that."

Back to the situation at hand, Niamh looked up at Rajih and smiled again, surprised by Rajih's compliment. "Is that so? I'm typically grim, you know," she told him, trying to sound as though she was reciting a cautionary tale. "I guess I had to learn how to be comfortable in formal wear, but I'm glad that you don't let anyone bully you into doing the same," Niamh added.

"We are, indeed, twins," she affirmed Rajih's suggestion. She brought her wrist up to her mouth, as casually as she could even manage, and nibbled one of the flowers again. It tasted faintly of orchid, which went hand in hand with their appearance. Such a pretty flavour. Niamh looked into the crowd, spotting several impressive figures, though she did not know who they might be. Her posture straightened automatically, when she remembered she was representing the Von Rohr's-- even if her parents had been dead since she was little.

Kalypso walked into the ball. And looked around at the place. It looked so grand to her. She has never been to no ball before, never been to a big event or party and was so taken back by what she saw. What she did notice that there a lot of people. She started to get a little nervous. She hopped she didn't make a fool of herself in font of all these people. She patted down her dress and touched her eyepatch. She brought a black one to go with her dress and hoped she made the right choice in doing that.

She looked around for everyone. She was suppose to meet up with Cedar and enter the ball with her but forgot where they were so supposed to meet before hand. She wondered if Lea and Xerxes made it yet? The room was getting a little too crowded to look for anyone. She decided to wait by the door and wait and see if they would turn up if they haven't made it there yet.

Cyrus surveyed the room briefly, smiling at everyone that happened to meet his gaze. He found it interesting to see everyone dressed up for the occasion, though Cyrus only donned a simple white tuxedo. He spotted a familiar face, which belonged to his closest friend, Miusa. Smiling even brighter now, he made a bee-line to her and took a seat across from her.

"Do try to enjoy yourself tonight." he said to her softly. Despite all the killings lately, tonight was supposed to be a celebration. And while he understood that everyone had to be on alert, he hoped his dearest friend could find some time to relax. They hadn't had much time to talk lately, both of them making various preparations. He came tonight well stocked in healing feathers, one even protruding slightly from his tux jacket.

Syracuse stood watch nearby, perched on an overhanging chandelier. Her soft gaze watched the students from above, spotting the ever-grumpy X a ways off. She noticed him..smirk? Seeing him show any sort of happy emotion was a rare sight in her eyes, and she descended upon him, perching just out of reach on a wall lantern.

"Enjoying the ball, Master X?" she asked, pleasant as usual. If doves could smile, she certainly would be with soft, wise eyes.

Cruor's eyes widened a little when Graveyard's hand touched his cheek, fighting not to pull away on instinct. It was... Strange, the way she casually touched him as if he was the one being odd for finding it strange. Despite his inner musings he sighed and nodding at the question, glancing aside before blinking as another glass of bubbling liquid was placed in his hand.

"You'e a goddess." he breathed, downing the fresh glass quickly and following her gaze. "I haven't been to one of these in... Years."

Even when he had gone to a ball, he had never danced... Mostly because he wasn't really able to find someone to dance with him. It wasn't that he was unattractive or that nobody wanted him as a date it, well, it was because nobody wanted to teach him how to dance. He had never had time to learn before going to Makai so he had always been at a disadvantage when it came to dancing. Memories such as those also had a nasty habit of sticking around longer than the pleasant memories as well.

"Well... Hopefully it stays that way." he murmured before swallowing thickly, passing his empty glass to a server and grabbing a fresh one to down. "You know... I've actually... I've never really danced before."

Swiftly picking up a champagne glass, Rosel surveyed the room from the wall. Not too many familiar faces, though there were a few. There was dear Salem, getting chatted up by some hot young thing in a white dress with some admittedly fabulous jewelry. And there, near the window, a trio of teachers. She recognized all of them, but only remembered Professor Cyrus well enough to recall a name. She’d put enough people in the nurse’s office during her time as student, at least before she’d learned to get a handle on her temper. If she was lucky, he wouldn’t remember her.

Absently taking a sip from her glass, she grimaced and looked at it as she realized it was just cider. How dull. She silently hoped someone would have the nerve to spike it by the end of the evening. She set it on a passing server’s tray and, ignoring the look he gave her, moved over to the champagne table and swiped up a glass of proper refreshment. A passing thought gave her a smile as she turned around. Maybe she could get Az and his sweet little date drunk.

A riot of green in the shadows caught her eye and she gave it a sidelong glance as she sipped. A green-haired witchling stood alone against the wall. Was he trying to hide away or look mysterious? Given that he was apparently the type to wear a school uniform to a ball… Rosel would be on hiding.

A smile twitching at her lips, she sauntered over and slid up next to him. Absently brushing back the bottom of her veil, she gave him a smirk and a wink. ”Well hello there, little lamb. No date tonight?”

Castle Ball

Cedar hesitated outside the castle. The air felt strange, and the plant life, they were all in a dither. She tried to make sense of all their commotion, a strong wind rushed through, pulling at her hair, and dress as it trying to pull her away from the castle. Something was upsetting them... Cedar raised a hand to fight the wind as she made her way into the castle, she knew that she would have be more aware tonight then any other time. There was danger lurking around... Twirling her mask in her hands, she felt uneasy.

As she entered the castle, her dress flowing to the floor, hovering over it by less then half an inch. It seemed like she must have missed Kaylpso, if the other girl had good sense, she would have gone right in. Though Cedar was beginning to wonder if safety was truly in numbers. And as per usual at any type of gathering, people crowded near the entrance. Cedar had to squeeze her way through, passing Professor X, and a dove that had just perched. Catching part of what the dove said, she glanced over at them before finally seeing Kalypso, just a few steps from them, the girl looked stunning in her dress. She made her way over to her friend with a sigh of relief. "You look wonderful~ " She said as she approached her. "I'm glad you're inside. There's something going on." She hushed her voice... "Have you see the other two? I think I might have seen them over by the food table, near the big window."

She waved Kalypso to follow her, moving in the crowds now was a lot easier once inside. People had formed little groups, and didn't pay much attention to anyone else. And as Cedar walked forward, another familiar face took her attention; Uaithne. They had met in the woods a few weeks ago. He didn't look like he had anyone with him. Cedar waved toward him, hoping to get his attention in case he wanted to join her and Kalypso.

As she waved at the other boy, she saw Lea and then Xerxes they were near each other but hadn't noticed one another. She then used both hands to wave and get their attention. "Lea! Xerxes!" She smiled seeing them. They both looked very dashing in their suits / tuxedos.
