You might believe,
the sun is the source of the ocean's shimmering beauty.
But truthfully,
it's the ivory scales floating beneath the water.

The dark shade of fur that came out of the den caught the tom's attention. Ivoryscale turned his charming gaze to Sky, carefully observing the tom's appearance and looks. Just as Ivoryscale predicted, a handsome tom that will likely be the male companion that he dearly searched for. Grooming the last bit of his white coat, Ivoryscale directed his full attention to the new member of SeaClan. He smirked at the tom and bowed his head politely. It didn't occur to the warrior that he was treating his new guest like a she-cat. Just when Ivoryscale parted his lips to perform his outstanding introduction, Griffonsea joined the group.

It slightly disappointed the white tom that a female was interrupting his moment of finally spending some quality time with another male. However not minding the friendly Griffonsea, Ivoryscale purred happily and welcomed her as he did with Sky. It agitated the warrior to find a pause in the conversation to introduce himself to Sky, but dared not to interrupt a she-cat's conversation with their new guest. Instead, he kept his eyes fixed on the two and nodded along.

As he continued to observe this befriending moment, Ivoryscale couldn't help but find the context of this chat rather amusing. How could this rogue be so confused about simple traditions of warrior names? Ivoryscale pulled his snout down to hide and mute his chuckles. It appears that Griffonsea seemed to be patient with the tom's constant puzzlement, any other warrior would claw his eyes out.

Just when the tom was going to snatch Sky away, Shiftstar also joined the group. The tom held his impatience from interfering. From the looks of it, Sky's schedule was pretty tight. Ivoryscale kept his gentle smile but felt his mind ache from annoyance. Ivoryscale came to the decision of going along with the conversation and save the introduction for later. He glanced at Griffonsea for a moment but fixed his sapphire orbs at Sky.

"Welcome to SeaClan, Sky." Ivoryscale welcomed with a smile.

Lostpaw

"Real tears are not those that fall from the eyes and cover the face, but those that fall from the heart and cover the soul."

SeaClan----Apprentice

Lostpaw padded carefully through the camp. He saw Griffonsea with a stranger her would later learn to be Sky, but for now he was looking for his friend Rarepaw. The tiny white apprentice swiveled his ears to try and hear what everyone else was hearing, mostly conversation just between warrior and such, but there could be valuable information, like who the stranger was.

The fear and terror that had gripped Lostpaw had now dispersed, what remained was concern for his friend. The undersized apprentice squirmed between two rocks, looking for his Rarepaw. He didn't call out for her, but he hoped she'd find him.

His white pelt was streaked with filth and dirt now from rooting around in all the obscure places for his pretty friend, but he just couldn't find her.

Lost and found
forsake me now
or let me return home!

Before Sky had a chance to respond, Shiftstar interrupted. Griffonsea flicked her ears in annoyance, but bowed her head in submission to her leader's wishes.
Once Shiftstar had left, Ivoryscale welcomed him to the Clan. Griffonsea blinked in surprise- she hadn't even seen the tom sitting there! He was so quiet!
"Oh, hi Ivoryscale!" she greeted him cheerfully. "Hey, whenever Sky decides to learn the ways of the Clan, you're welcome to join me in teaching him!"
She could tell that the white-furred tom was interested in the newcomer. They could both acquaint him to SeaClan together, and hopefully instill the burning passion of a warrior in him. If Shiftstar was so willing.
Her tail lashed with excitement. This is going to be so much fun! she thought gleefully.
"Well anyway Sky, we should probably do that later tomorrow or something you know? After Shiftstar has her walk with you. It's up to you." She flicked Ivoryscale with her tail before stating, "Just let me know if you're ready and I'll get Ivoryscale. Life here can be tough sometimes, but we support one another."
Her blue eyes twinkled as she said,
"Oh yeah! Welcome to SeaClan! Forgot to say that sooner, hehe."

I want to stay free
so bring to me
the endless spray of foam!

Perhaps I'll defeat your fiery flames
or lose myself among the fray.

Rarepwan nodded her head to Kindsoul, she was getting tired too. But she needed to find Lostpaw first. She worried about the shy apprentice. She noticed him walking around camp searching, and she called out to him. "Over here Lostpaw!" She hoped he would come share- tongues with her and Kindsoul before she headed off to bed. After all she and him hard been working hard together today. They both deserved a break before bed. The whole clan did. Not to mention his pelt looked like it too could use a good cleaning. It was covered in dirt, and was probably making him cold. "Come here, I'll help you clean your pelt." She offered.

She wasn't usually the type of cat to help with cleaning away dirt, after all she didn't like getting herself dirty. But for her friends, she would occasionally make exceptions. So far that included Kindsoul and Lostpaw.

Lostpaw purred at the sight of his friend and rubbed his cheek against her shoulder.

"'ll r'ght," he replied at her offer to help him clean his dirt streaked white pelt. He was so happy to see her. After helping today and then not being able to find her, he had gotten worried. His piercing mismatched eyes closed as he purred and licked Rarepaw's shoulder.

He didn't share tongue with any other cats than his sister, but Rarepaw was his best friend.

Rarepaw smiled and purred in response, and saw Kindsoul dip he head in greeting, before getting up and leaving the two to have some time of their own. Without saing a work Rarepaw got started on cleaning the dirt out of his pelt. "It really is dirty." She told him in between licks. "It's good I saw it, we don't want you getting sick." She found something oddly comforting in Lostpaw's presence, kind of like she did with Kindsoul. It was just nice to be around him. She didn't have many friends and so, although mostly silently, she cared deeply for the ones she did have. She liked her clan, but the only ones who could fill the gap left by the loss of her parents was her friends. They were her family.

"Real tears are not those that fall from the eyes and cover the face, but those that fall from the heart and cover the soul."

SeaClan----Apprentice

Lostpaw groomed Rarepaw's shoulder. He had never properly shared tongues with any other than his sister. There was a strange comfort in the ability to share unspoken time and feelings with other clan cats. He purred as he groomed his best friend's pretty fur.

His dirt streaked fur felt thin against the chill of the darkness that came after sunset and with the moon rise. Lostpaw had never taken notice of the moon before. The medicine cats had already left, he knew. For a moment he wondered what it would be like to share that intimate connection with StarClan, but if he had been a medicine cat he'd never have been able to have his friendship with Rarepaw.

His narrowed his eyes in contentment as he looked up at his fellow apprentice and purred unceasingly. He saw still a new and little trained apprentice, but with the disaster that had befallen the clan, he began to have an inkling of understanding for the close bonds between his older clanmates that as a half-deaf kit he had never been able to understand.

Rarepaw paused from time to time, from cleaning Lostpaw's pelt, to look at him and see if he looked okay. She knew he wasn't used to sharing-tongues, and she wanted to make sure that she wasn't pushing him too far out of his comfort zone. He seemed to be okay though, so she finished cleaning out the last little bit of resistant dirt from his white pelts. "There." She told him, satisfied with herself. "You're pelt's all clean now. Have you eaten yet?" She didn't want him going to bed hungry tonight. The whole clan was like a chain, and they needed all the links strong for the days after a disaster such as this one.

Speaking of all links, where was her mentor? She hadn't seen him since the disaster, and she was surprised she wasn't being given orders or jobs by him. Oh well, Ivoryscales could do as he pleased, she wasn't his keeper, nor his mentor.

"N'w ," Lostpaw admitted, suddenly intensely aware of the emptiness in his stomach. He couldn't place the last time he had eaten, now that he had thought about it. He couldn't remember if he had eaten before the earthquake or not, he didn't think he had.

He stood up, stretching his short limbs, sending a tremor through his small body. He looked up at Rarepaw expectantly. Between the two of them, she was the voice of reason and the leader.

He glanced back over at Griffonsea, Ivoryscale, and the stranger. Lightly nudging Rarepaw, he asked in a low tone, "Who'z h-ee?"

Ivoryscale smiled enchantingly at Griffonsea and bowed his head in greeting. It was rude of him not to signify his own presence into the conversation, especially to a female. Ivoryscale felt that Sky will have to have his welcome into the clan before involving in anything intense. From the looks of it, Griffonsea seems excited to train the new warrior. And when it comes to Griffonsea's excitement, Ivoryscale could only imagine what comes next. Either way, the she-cat's behaviour and patience will do good for Sky's training. Ivoryscale flicked his ears and smiled. He felt welcomed by Griffonsea's kind request, she was kinder than most she-cats he knows.

"Thank you for your kind invitation, Griffonsea," he purred.

Ivoryscale turned his eyes back to Sky. He was a bit of a strange individual, his eyes looks as if they were lost in such a clan-like atmosphere. The white tom snapped out of his thoughts when Griffonsea flicked him with her tail. He grew confused for a split second but then got the hint. Nodding, he looked back at Sky and got ready to leave.

"Until then, rest and enjoy your day," Ivoryscale greeted.

LOCATION: Seaclan den

>>Before Timeskip<<

A griffon was a cat with wings? Sky’s expression was even more confused, if that was possible. He stopped listening to half of what Griffonsea was saying after her explanation of the origins of her name. ”But cats don’t have wings.” He meowed solemnly, still trying to get the idea of a hawk mixed with a cat in his head. Nope, the image in his head was not pretty at all.

From what he gathered from Griffonsea’s long rant, basically a cat’s name changed to a warrior’s name if he or she was good enough...something like that. There was something called a deputy, there was something called app-ren-something, and he had stopped listening to the rest of the conversation. And he still did not understand why a name had to change. Couldn’t the cats just...change their own rank but leave the name the same? It was all so confusing! Identities did not change, he was sure that they all smelled the same even after the name change, so frankly he did not see the point. He had now grasped the concept that he was in a place called “Seeclan”, and since he did not know what a “sea” was, he presumed the name of the place to mean that the cats could “see” something special. It didn’t make a shred of sense to him.

And then the barrage of names came. There was a Breezeclan, a Nightclan, a Stormclan and a Starclan, although why the cats decided to name places with these strange names, he had no idea. And why did they have to add the word “clan” in the back? He blinked a few times throughout this whole “conversation”, his head slowly tilting innocently to one side. With Griffonsea’s mouth moving at a hundred miles an hour, it was impossible for anyone to keep up, least of all Sky. He never got a chance to interject, not even to ask what “fish” were. ”Um. Okay.” He mumbled in response to her rambling, scuffling a short distance away.

He was saved from his dilemma by Shiftstar, or “the shifting star” as he had been calling her. The split-faced she-cat invited him to join her for a walk after “sun-up”, but before he could nod to take up her offer, she had already bounded away. Wow, cats here sure moved fast. Not another second later, the white tom from before had walked up to him, purring a welcome to the clan. ”Thank you.” What else was he supposed to say? ”Shiftstar mentioned the app-ren-tice den?” Frankly he didn’t understand why there were separate dens, as he would have been perfectly happy for any dry spot to sleep on. App-ren-tices were...cats in training, if he remembered right. Why did they have to sleep separate?

:。✿*゚‘゚・✿.。.:*.:。✿*゚’゚・✿.。

Rarepaw stood up behind Lostpaw, going to walk with him to get some food for him. He must be starving by now. As she headed in the direction of the fresh-kill pile, she paused looking back to the cat Lostpaw was talking about. "Oh, he's a Loner. I think we're calling him 'Sky.'" She told Lostpaw. She knew Kindsoul was interested to talk to him. She wasn't particularly interested though. To her, he was just another cat, like all the other cats in the clan. Him being a loner didn't hold much interest for her. It would be interesting though to see if he would join Seaclan. It would be kind of cool to have a fellow apprentice who was younger then she was. Then lightly brushing against Lostpaw's side, she purred, "let's go get you some food."

"Yah," Lostpaw nodded. He cast a glance back at Sky, but kept walking with Rarepaw. The fresh kill pile looked more than desirable to his empty stomach. He selected a mouse, rather squished from the earthquake, but he was so hungry he didn't care. He settled and waited for Rarepaw before sinking his teeth into the cold and, regrettably, dirty body of the prey.

Rarepaw sat happily beside Lostpaw when she saw him eating. She was happy he was filling his stomach, even if it was with a destroyed mouse. "Is it good?" She asked him. Then she yawned. She was beginning to get tired. She'd spend a bit more time with Lostpaw, then head out to bed. Just because Ivoryscales wasn't giving her jobs now, didn't mean that he wouldn't tomorrow, and she should make sure she was rested enough for anything. She didn't want to be embarrassed because she was tired. She was going to be made a warrior as soon as she could! Especially now, when the clan needed all the warriors it could get.

Lostpaw swiftly devoured the mouse. The aching hunger in his gut dissipated with his meal. He licked his paw and brought if over his face, washing away the remnants of the squashed and dirty rodent. Lostpaw stretched, yawning and shivering. He closed his eyes, purring and tiredly needing the ground, sheathing and unsheathing his claws.

Turning his attention back to the dimming excitement in the camp, Lostpaw swivled his ears, trying to catch what the warriors may be saying. But with a distance too great, he gave up, yawning again.
