"Why? Sen-sen speaks and she's not a unicorn."
So did a lot of the pets that the Winters kept, which would explain why Miyuki couldn't understand this.

"Senka isn't a regular cat, either," Earendil chuckled. "Most cats can't talk."
Perhaps over time, she would learn, but for now she was just too used to Gaia.

"So Sen-sen is special?"
That was the only reason why she could think other cats didn't talk. Even though Wish she knew talked and so did Lily Mist. Of course she was too young to know that her family had a preference towards these types of cats.

Earendil chuckled softly. "Indeed, she is," he assured her. "I know that we take her for granted, but she is very special. Most cats are like horses: not so intelligent, can't speak ..."

"Sen-sen is very smart, she knows how to get people to feed her!"
She said this proudly as if this was a good thing, because to her it said quite a bit to how smart Senka was.
Lin on the other hand leaned against Earendil laughing at that. Her cat's most annoying trait was deemed a smart trait.

Earendil laughed and put one arm around Lin's shoulders. "Well, that is smart of her," he grinned. "You're quite right, Miyuki."
He chuckled again and reached down to take her hand. "Now come on, we should wash up for lunch. Are you hungry?"

Now that her Ada had mentioned it.... "Yes!"
It had been a while since breakfast and all this excitement about horses and unicorns and seeing her Ada again was making her hungry.

"All right then," Earendil grinned. "Let's go. Do you remember how we got here from inside? We're going back the same way. If you don't want to hold my hand, that's okay, as long as you don't get too far ahead. All right?"
He kept his arm around Lin, though. As long as she didn't mind.

She nodded like a bobble head doll, "Okay!"
Knowing she couldn't run ahead, because that would put her too far, she skipped instead. This was a good day, a very good day for Miyuki. She couldn't wait to tell Sen-sen.
"I swear she produces her own sugar sometimes," Lin murmured watching her energetic little girl prance ahead of them.

"Energy, yes," Earendil chuckled. "Sugar, no." He squeezed Lin's shoulders lightly. "Come on, we shouldn't let her get too far ahead of us. Never know where she's going to end up."
He started following after her.

Lin chuckled and picked up the pace. She supposed children here didn't get hyper off of sugar since it was far more natural. At least she heard once that it wasn't sugar perse but the other stuff when you make candy.

Once they were inside, Earendil brought Lin and Miyuki to Lin's bedchamber so that they could wash up.
"I also need to wash," he told them as he dropped them off. "Shall I come back for you in say ... a half hour? Or shall I meet you down in the dining hall?"

"Meet us in half an hour," Lin replied.
Otherwise she figured Miyuki was going to ask why her Ada wasn't coming back. She decided to keep it simple.
Miyuki on her part was poking around the room, she didn't remember ever being in this room before. Though she took time out to poke a sleeping Senka.

"All right then," Earendil replied, chuckling softly as he watched Miyuki explore the room. "I'll see you in a half hour."
He ruffled Lin's hair affectionately, his eyes sparkling brightly, then turned and headed down the hall, towards his own room.

Once Earendil was gone, Lin went to get Miyuki. It was time to clean her up, no doubt she figured the little girl was very dusty from today.
"Come on you, let's get washed up for lunch."
When she was finished Miyuki was cleaned, combed and ready for lunch.
