Ieyasu

"You're on, hanyou. Nobody drinks me under the table."

Not yet noticing Rahujo, Ieyasu looked up as Nyxa came within speaking distance. Not a human either, from her tail and her eyes. Well, not totally human at least. After a moment, he grinned again. "Nope, you're not intruding." He noticed Lucius now, his eyes falling to the catlike Aerandir. Gazing back up at Nyxa again, his expression turned questioning.
"Are you a guardian too then? I don't think we've met before."

"Oh, not at all. We were simply discussing the notion of having a friendly drinking contest." She stood and brushed off her hands to approach the woman with a friendly smile, trying her best not to scare at the small bird-animal-thing at her feet. As she steeled herself she held out her hand in a friendly gesture.

"I'm Syrenrei. It's nice to meet you."

Hmm, people...

Rahujo stopped about twenty paces away from the house, still on the cobbled street. It wasn't a house she was familiar with - presumably one of the newer guardians. She held up a hand in greeting to the small group of people (and what was now clearly a gryphon) gathered around the porch.

Nyxa hadn't noticed Rahujo at this point, either. Her attention was fully on the two before her. "I am a guardian, yes. This is Lucius, he's cockerel-panther. And I'm Nyxa." She perked slightly at the mention of a drinking contest. "It's been ages since I participated in a drinking game." Shaking Syrenrei's hand, she couldn't help but crack a huge smile. "Mind if I watch?" It was then that she caught sight of Rahujo, waving a hand in greeting to the Aerandir.

Luc, at this point, was bored of the goings on. Shrilly chirping, he rose and paced slightly. He wanted to play: glancing around the housing area, it seemed as if he was looking for someone or something in particular.

"Nice to meet you. The name's Ieyasu. I'm looking after a little one called Osusuki.. but he's asleep right now. He was just born earlier, and managed to tire himself out completely this afternoon."

Grinning, Ieyasu nodded his head in reply to her question. "Sure you can watch. You can join in if you like."

Noticing Rahujo this time, he gazed over at the large humanoid for a moment. He had seen her before in the centre, when Syrenrei had passed out.
"Ah.. hey."

"Oh, you can watch or join in if you like," she nodded, echoing Ieyasu. "I'm sure that this man here will be the first to cry uncle." With her back to Ieyasu she winked at Nyxa and gave Rahujo a brief wave. The poor woman probably recognized her from when she was bleeding everywhere and thoroughly drenched.

Turning back towards Ieyasu she sat down and took three of the sake cups and poured shots of brandy using what she had left in her canteen that was strapped to the back of her belt. She usually used brandy to try to negate guilt from sins or pour over a wound to sterilize it, but this was a special occasion. She could barely fill the cups before the canteen was empty and she buckled it back onto her belt.

"Please, at least have a taste of my brandy for good health." She picked up all three cups and offered one to Nyxa and the other to Ieyasu. If he could handle it.

Seating herself next to Syrenrei, Nyxa watched the woman pour a very healthy dose of potent liquor into each of the glasses. Hedging, she debated with herself on the pros and cons of getting soused. She was an easy drunk, always had been, and she tended to get a little ..friendly.. when she was intoxicated. Ahh, hell with it. Taking a healthy sip from the offered glass, Nyxa choked back a cough while fighting the tears flooded her eyes. "Aaah.. strong." What a lightweight.

With a grunt of disgust, Luc slowly made his way back home. Julian was probably there, and he was sure to be more entertaining than his guardian was.

This close up, Rahujo recognised one of the other inhabitants of the porch: a man with white long hair whom she'd seen a little while ago in the Centre, in somewhat mysterious circumstances. Curious, she moved closer, and wondered what his role on the island was - visitor, helper, archaeologist, guardian?

As she was pondering, the gryphon which had been hanging around the porch detached itself from the group and headed away from the house. She watched it go in surprise. There went an independant one...

She turned her attention back to the porch. With a tentative smile at the occupants, she decided she should probably introduce herself. "Good evening! My name is Rahujo, and I am the village blacksmith. I thought I might introduce myself as I passed by."

Ieyasu's grin remained, although his expression was a little puzzled as he looked at the blacksmith. "Ieyasu - nice to meet you. I've been volunteering as a guardian here." He paused slightly before continuing.
"Can I just ask....what are you?"

He studied Rahujo with open curiousity, the brandy filled sake cup held in his hand. With a glance down at the cup, he then lifted it, drinking the shot. Brandy wasn't his usual choice of drink. But it was stronger than sake anyway.

Alyosha stepped out of the centre, looking to the west to see the sun slowly making its way towards the horizon, a bloody red tint shining over the sky as it descended. Something felt ominous...

He shrugged it off, red sky at night supposed to be a good sign and all, and walked towards the village intending to cut across it towards the west beach where the water was usually warmer and quieter.

As he walked across the village he heard a several voices. On this small Island more than one or two voices outside of the centre were unusual. Or, well, they had been in the past few months since the rest of the team had left. He missed the bustle, really. Heading towards the voices he came across Ieyasu's home, walking up behind the form he recognised as Rahujo.

She giggled a little at Nyxa and gave her a pat on the back and a wink before she downed her brandy which did little more than put a slight hint of color on her cheeks and a bright smile on her lips. You could be having the shittiest day of your existance and with enough liquor it all seemed to melt away into the abyss of non-existance.

Laying down on the porch, she propped up her head with one arm and awaited Rahujo's reply calmly. Her small stock of alcohol relieved, it was time for Ieyasu to serve the drinks. Besides, she was more than mildly curious as to what Rahujo was exactly.

Rahujo paused for a second, slightly taken back. "Ah ... did Alyosha never show you photographs of a full-grown Aerandir?" She grinned and nodded slowly. "I ... can see how you would be somewhat taken aback. Nice to meet you, Ieyasu."

She looked in the direction of the last unintroduced occupant of the porch. "I don't believe we've been introduced?"

"Me...? Oh, I'm just a straggler, really. My name is Syenrei." Standing she held her cup firmly in one hand and gave a wide smile as she held out the other in greeting. She could only concentrate on one person at a time, so for the moment being Alyosha went unnoticed.

Watching the other two down their glasses with simple gulps, Nyxa tried to follow suit, shuddering as the liquor burned down her throat. Shuddering, she noticed blearily that Alyosha was coming up behind Rahujo, waving cheekily as she set the glass down. Ahh, liquor was dandy-fine, and she enjoyed the company of the others. Cheeks red, Nyxa set her glass carefully down on the porch before turning her attention gratefully to the back-patting Syrenrei, whispering a soft, "Thanks." to the other woman.

Ieyasu nodded slightly after a moment. "A ..full grown Aerandir..? I see." He seemed more intrigued than anything else. So Osusuki would end up as a similar humanoid?? He knew that the Aerandir were unusual creatures, but hearing about them and seeing everything with your own eyes was more than a little different.

It was then that he noticed Alyosha approach behind Rahujo. Damn, his house was popular tonight. He grinned again. "Speak of the devil.. " He nodded to the dark-haired kitsune, lifting a hand in greeting to him.

He then turned to Syrenrei."Now... more drink. Then I can prove who's better."
Grinning widely, he turned to head inside to fetch a couple of bottles. A bottle of whisky and a bottle of vodka should suffice. From what he remembered, he'd brought over some of each in the supplies he had taken with him from the mainland.
