I know exactly what to do next, Kilik thought, crossing his arms over his chest. Treecko looked from the battle at her trainer. He was so stern faced. This wasn't like the Kilik she knew. Maybe in battle, he turned into someone else. Yeah, that was probably it. The gecko switched shoulders and looked Mitsu in the face, bumping the girl's cheek with the tip of her nose. She was a girl, she could empathize with her, right? "Cable, dodge it," the boy said solidly, "And hit it with one final Leer." Kilik could see the end of the battle in his head, and if everything went according to his plan, he'd win with no problem at all.

This wasn't Kilik's normal game. Kilik had never had him dodge so much and use such a wimpy move before. Why was Kilik playing so defensively? Every battle he'd ever been in, even as an Elekid, he was always told to hit hard and to hit fast. Sure, Sandslash may have had the type advantage, but that never stopped him, did it? Cable hopped out of the way, again taking a hit to his foot. This caused him to stumble and trip, falling again into the dirt. He stood up, wiping some grass off of his mouth. "Eleeee...." he closed his eyes, "Buu!" Upon opening them, they flashed red and blue once more. He sure hoped Kilik knew what he was doing.

That's three. That Sandslash's defenses are as wimpy as a newly born Wurmple. "Cable, I want you to stand still. Stay put, and hold your ground. Don't even attempt to dodge the next one." Kilik's lips were in his usual, trademark smirk. Cable's face twitched and he looked over his shoulder and gave him a look like "What, are you serious!?" but when he saw his trainer nod, Cable nodded in return, looking back ahead. The Pokemon spread his weight out a bit, and held his arms out to his sides. Kilik sure was crazy sometimes. Despite their closeness, he didn't think he'd ever learn what wack-job strategy he'd come up with next.

Mitsu smiled at the little newborn Treecko. "Your trainer and Cable sure are tough aren't they?" she said with a soft laugh. "They are boys afterall." She smiled again giving the Pokemon another small pat on the head. She sure was cute. Mitsu looked up back to the battle, a bit taken back by his sudden command to take the strongest hit. Though she would place money on a bet that he'd soon take the offensive.

"Let's take him out!" Justin commanded, sure that this attack would hit it's mark for sure. The last two clips should have taken a bit out of the Electabuzz and this final hit should leave him near a KO. "Hit 'em hard!" Justin commanded again.

Sandslash turned again, this time in a wider arc that before, taking the opportunity of Cable's sudden standstill to pick up as much speed as he could possibly could. He zigzagged before spinning in a straight beeline toward Cable, who looked like he was standing his ground. Right before he was going to make contact the Sandslash propelled himself into the air, sending all his momentum and weight crashing into Cable's chest.

"Hold on..." Kilik whispered as the Sandslash moved closer with each passing second, "Hold on..." he clenched his fists. The timing was crucial. "NOW!" he barked a split second before impact. Cable felt the air get knocked out of him, but he clamped his hands around the spinning ball that was digging into his chest. That final Rollout hit sure hurt a lot more than he bargained for. Wincing in pain, he threw the Sandslash back into the air to get it away. The Electabuzz placed a hand on his chest, panting heavily. Jeez, that hurt. That hurt a lot. He could hear ringing in his ears. "Cable," Kilik swung the arm that Treecko wasn't on, "use Brick Break!" The boy looked over at Justin. That last hit was solid, he'd give him that, but this was it. Game over.

Electabuzz jumped up into the air and pulled back both of his fists. They began to glow brightly with a white light and he gave the Sandslash a right hook, forcing the Ground-type out of it's tight ball. "ELEBUUU!!!" the Pokemon cried out, bringing his left fist in a downward arc and slamming a solid punch on top of his opponent's head. He watched the Pokemon crash into the ground with a loud thud, accompanied by a cloud of dust. Cable landed in front of Kilik, and fell to one knee. He was panting heavily. He sure put all his energy into that last hit. He'd see if he was successful after the smoke cleared.

Kilik nodded. That's exactly what he wanted to happen. Everything went according to the map in his mind. All that remained was to see if it was enough to finish off that nuisance of a Sandslash. I was more fond of Digger anyway, he thought. Treecko smiled at Mitsu. Were all boys this tough? That Ivysaur was tough. Sandslash was tough. Slowking was tough. Since she was a girl, did that mean she couldn't be tough? She shook the thought from her mind. Kilik always told her that he wanted her to be strong, so that's what she was gonna do! Girls could be tough too, cause Mitsu was tough! She peered over to see what had happened with that rolling Pokemon.

"Well whatever happens in Sinnoh I am sure we will all become a better person for it." She said with a easygoing smile on her face as she looked out at the ocean feeling the sea-breeze on her face. Laughing slightly she turned back to Jake and grinned at him. "I dunno why I am in such a good mood but I am."

"Hey there is nothing wrong with a good mood and a good attitude." Jake said with a smile. "It is harder to be in a good mood all the time then it is to be in a sad one. Plus it makes you happier."

Musing on his words Robin watched as they docked in the Slateport harbor. "Hmm I think your right." She said finally turning to Jake. "Thanks for the battle and all your advice." Pushing herself off of the rail she looked over at her pokemon who weren't really training anymore.

What the training had devolved into was Raz holding Luffy still with his Psychic and Brook shooting seeds at him while Black*Star shot water at him. It was a good thing Luffy was taking it as a joke and trying to squirm out of the invisible grip while getting drenched and pelted with seeds.

Robin only laughed as she took in the sight of her pokemon. "Come on you guys. That's enough training for you all today. We have a lot to do and so little time. All though I think some of you will be bored with what I am doing." All of Robin's pokemon gave her a curious look at that. There trainer was usually anything but boring. "I am going shopping for new clothing." Robin laughed as she saw half of the expressions turn to horror. Black*Star really looked like he didn't want to go. Raz just drooped a little from where he was flying. Oddly enough Brook and Luffy didn't seem to mind to much. "Hmm well ok, how about my shopping team stays out while my not shopping team goes back into their pokeballs?" She asked holding up Raz's Parkball and Black*Star's regular pokeball. Raz nodded immediately while Black*Star mulled over the fact that his greatness was going to be put away or he would have to go shopping. Eventually both of them consented upon being put back and so Robin was just left with Brook and Luffy. "All right you two lets get off of this lame boat." She grinned at the two reaching down to pick Brook up and hold him against her chest as she carried him around, Luffy was fine walking right now. Turning back to Jake she gave him a small salute and a grin. "It was nice hanging out with you Jake. I hope I see you on the boat ride to Sinnoh." With that she and her pokemon headed towards the walkway off of the boat.

When Mai suddenly changed her tune from idle threats to actually preparing to attack, Keegan stopped, and took a step back, able to feel the chill coming off the Glalie's body even from where he stood. Uh oh, this isn't fun anymore, the redhead thought, frowning. The b***h is serious now. He glanced at Shocker, almost unable to believe that it was the same Raichu he'd known before. He gulped, and looked back up at Mai again. "Oh, the hard way, please," he retorted, taking two Pokeballs of his own from his belt. He was very, very sure that this wasn't going to end well, but there was no way in hell that he was just going to lie down and play dead while Mai robbed him of his Pokemon. Okay guys, this is gonna be rough but I really need you right now, he thought as he released Helios and Loki. He knew Glalie was an ice type but he'd never seen one in person before, and he was sure he knew enough about Shocker to know what she was capable of, but that didn't help to quell his unease.

Helios stood proudly before Keegan, his nine tails swishing around behind him. He recognized the Raichu he was facing, though he didn't question it. Loki, meanwhile, flared his hood and hissed viciously, sensing the tension in the air. "Don't hold back just because she is our friend," he said in a low voice, motioning to the Raichu. "Helios, Will-o-Wisp, on Shocker. Loki, Glare on the other one." Helios took a step forward, the fiery blue aura in his eyes matching the same glow that had appeared in each of his tails, and with a growl he sent the blue wisps of fire that manifested around him at the mouse Pokemon. Loki slunk forward, still hissing menacingly as he reared up, a terrifying expression spread across his face. Maybe if I can slow them down, we'll stand a chance, Keegan thought, doing his best to keep himself focused. Damn, I knew I shouldn't have had so much to drink!

Marina watched as the Starmie healed itself, riding along in the whirlpool like it was having the greatest ride of it's life, and she clenched her fists, growing angrier by the second. She was going to be the greatest water Pokemon trainer ever, and yet here she was, being made a fool of! She growled and pointed at the Starmie. "Seadra, Focus Energy," she said firmly. When they did manage to hit that annoying starfish, they were going to hit it, and good. The Dragon Pokemon narrowed it's eyes and slashed the water with the razor-sharp spines on it's fins, causing a surge of adrenaline to course through it's body, and it let out an intimidating cry as a result of it's sudden energy rush.

Meanwhile the Twister had started to die down and Starrie was able to escape it, moving gracefully through the water. That last Recover had been just what it needed, and now it eagerly awaited the next command from Miharu. "Let's give your new Psychic attack a try," the small girl said, touching a finger to her chin. She was really liking her new Starmie, and the large boost of confidence that came with it.

The Mysterious Pokemon's core gem began to glow, and within a moment a curious violet aura, the same colour as Starrie's main body, outlined the Seadra's body. Deciding to really test out it's new powers, Starrie focused it's psychic powers and gave the Dragon Pokemon a toss, and both Miharu and Marina could only watch as the Seadra flew through the air before being slammed up against one of the posts supporting the dock Miharu was standing on.

"The Poke-mart? Sure thing, lead the way," Riza answered. She'd been meaning to pick up a few potions anyway so now would be as good a time as any. She followed along beside Jaeshan, taking in the sights of the new town. 'He said he knows a commonly used battleground so he must be pretty familiar with Vermilion City,' she thought idly, though changed her mind a little after they'd gone the wrong way a few times. They did arrive at their destination eventually, and Riza wasn't surprised to see Jaeshan make a beeline for the TM's rack. She knew she couldn't afford anything over in that area, as her purse was still feeling quite light after her last shopping expedition in Lilycove with Kirlia, whom at the time was still just a little Ralts. "Those Tm's aren't cheap, either," she mumbled as she made her way over to the potions rack. She picked up two and headed over to the counter, somewhat reluctantly handing over the $600 it cost her, and as she counted her change she sighed a little. 'Oh well, I guess I'm gonna have to get used to pokecenter food,' she thought, carefully placing the two potions into her bag.

Jaeshan was already waiting for her by the time she was finished, and she greeted him with a smile. "Find what you were looking for?" she asked, looking at the poke ball he held. "I'm ready when you are," she added, eager to start their training session.

Noa cooed loudly before she flapped her wings and began to fly at the Roselia, eager to land the first hit. To her surprise the flower Pokemon just stood there, a slight smirk on it's face. At the last possible second, Roselia sidestepped the oncoming tackle, did a fancy twirl which in turn released a cloud of glittering orange powder from her roses. The spores landed on Noa as she passed by, and all at once she realized she could no longer get her body to do what she wanted, and with a painful sounding thud, the Staravia crashed into the hard ground below her.

"That must have been a stun spore," Katie said to herself, wincing. That crash landing looked like it really hurt Noa a lot, and now that she was paralyzed things were about to get that much tougher. "Try to use your quick attack now," Katie said next, watching the Roselia with interest. Not only was it quite cute, but the scent of it's roses was quite lovely, and it seemed to be quite clever, as well. 'All good qualities to have in a Pokemon,' Katie thought as Noa managed to overcome her paralysis long enough to land a fairly weak hit on the grass-type. Roselia wasn't about to give up just yet, and she brought her two roses together and unleashed a barrage of bright purple needles, a move that Katie quickly recognized as poison sting.

Noa's body seized up and she was unable to even try to avoid the oncoming needles, and she let out a sharp cry of pain as she felt the dozens of tiny pin pricks stinging her body. "She's tougher than she looks," Katie whispered, already quite impressed with the Roselia. "Hang in there Noa, I know you can do it," Katie encouraged.

Mitsu couldn't help but inwardly smile as the Treecko looked a bit worried. "It'll tell ya a secret," she said leaning in closer, "Girls are tougher than boys." She leaned back and smiled once again. She wasn't truly sure of her own words, but they seemed fitting for the situation.

Sandslash made sure to rotate hs body even more once he'd made contact, trying to get in as much damage as he could while making contact. His spikes flared a bit creating several little cuts all over Cable's body as he continued to grind against his opponent's body.

He was definitely thrown for a loop as he was cast into the air. It wasn't until Cable landed a Brick Break and he burst from his curled position did he feel out of his element. That hit was a lot more powerful than he had anticipated. Justin was confident that his Sandslash could still take another hit, that is, until Cable landed a second blow. Sandslash was far stronger than that Electabuzz, but it was that damned Leer attack that had been his downfall. He made a quick mental note to get a Pokemon who could counteract status effects. He recalled his fallen Pokemon silently.

He pushed his way across the field. He gave Kilik a glare. "I have to admit, I'd love to have snagged that Electabuzz of yours," he said. He had to admit that the Electric type was tough and it was could be a good addition to any team. "Anyways," he said, "See you on the boat Mitsu." He gave them a wave and departed, moving a bit faster than any normal person would.

Mitsu shook her head, holding Kilik's arm as if to say, "It's not worth it." She smiled, "Thanks for that. It's nice to see that chivalry isn't dead." She laughed a bit before looking at the broken earth below, her eyes moving up back to the red roofed building. "More training? Or should we get some breakfast?"
PostPosted: Sun Oct 04, 2009 8:42 pm

"Yeah well," Kilik said as the boy was leaving, "He's all mine." He recalled the very tired looking Electabuzz. He had to admit, fighting a Pokemon many levels above his own was frightening. The chance of losing was all too high and he was glad that Justin didn't even think to use a Ground-type attack. Regardless, he nearly decked the boy anyway when he said that he was going to see Mitsu on the boat. As the two headed towards the Pokemon Center, he took a deep breath. Almost to calm his nerves. Something about that kid was really bugging him. It wasn't just that he had to jump in to save Mitsu, or that he almost lost. Just how he went about his ways. Was it because it was just like Mazarin? With another breath, Kilik smiled at her. "Breakfast sounds nice," he said. "I think both training with Treecko and that battle with Cable was enough practice for this morning."

He pulled a Pokeball off of his belt and recalled the Treecko that was on his shoulder, then approached the front desk. Nurse Joy, as perky as ever, put a tray out on the counter. She had mentioned hearing a lot of battling going on outside. Kilik laughed silently to himself. He put his two Pokeballs on the tray and then started heading towards the cafeteria. He had to admit: Pokemon Centers rocked. They were your one-stop for anything and everything. Need a place to crash for the night? Come here. Want free food? The Center's your place. He stretched a bit and looked up at the clock. 7:30 AM. "Wow," he mumbled, "I was out there longer than it felt. That battle sure didn't seem to last more than maybe ten minutes." He took a tray and plate, filling the plate up with apples, oranges, bananas and grapes. The pile had to have been at least a foot high. He grabbed a large bottle of chocolate milk and sat down at a table.

He took one of the bananas, peeled it and downed it rather quickly. Kilik was really starting to feel hungry. Hopefully that boat was going to have gourmet food. He couldn't live off a diet of Pokemon Center sandwiches and fruit for another day. He had to have some sort of meat in his system that wasn't processed deli.

Mitsu breathed in the familiar scent of the Pokemon Center. It was the safe haven for trainers and Pokemon alike. There was something about the red roofed building that seemed to ward away evil, she couldn't even remember a time where Team Rocket had attacked the Pokemon Center. If she remembered correctly, they hadn't even tried anything in the red roofed building during the Slateport event.

Mitsu handed Ivy's Pokeball to Nurse Joy, who accepted the red and white sphere happily. It was odd, how she always had a smile on her face when accepting injured and KOed Pokemon. Or maybe it was the thought that she had the ability to heal them and make them all better that made her smile. Either way the purple headed girl still thought i was slightly odd, her never ending cheerfulness.

Ahhh, more PokeCenter food. Mitsu didn't really have any aversion to their food, though it was far from the best grub one could get. The best part about the cafeteria though was that it was free. She picked up a tray and a placed the clean white plate down onto the tray which was dark green in color. She placed a biscuit onto the plate along with some eggs, a glass of orange juice, and a small bowl of strawberries with whipped cream. She did love sweets after all.

She took a seat across from Kilik before spearing a strawberry through her fork and popping it into her mouth, a little bit of the whipped cream catching onto her lower lip. She wiped her mouth with a napkin that was neatly set on the tray before saying, "Only a few more hours, huh?"

All through the night Kasiya's dreams were troubled as her subconscious mind forced her to relive the events at Slateport over and over again, always ending with Mai's wicked laughter echoing in her mind as she held Shocker's Pokeball just out of Kasiya's reach, and every time, she'd fall forward, and keep falling...

There was a loud crash as Kasiya tumbled out of bed, completely tangled in the sheets. She was still half-asleep as she struggled to free herself, and when she finally awoke she felt confused and disoriented, and after a moment or so she realized that her face was soaked with tears - she must have been crying in her sleep. Still sniffling a little she untangled herself from the sheets and threw them back on the bed in a crumpled ball, not caring to try and make up the bed again. Her body still ached a little but she knew she was only stiff from sleeping and once she got up and started moving the aches would subside. She quickly got dressed and fought to run the brush through her hair, which had ended up matted and tangled beyond recognition due to the fact that she'd gone to bed without drying it properly first. After finally getting her bedhead under control she went about gathering up her things. As she sat on the bed, tying up her shoelaces she wasn't at all surprised when Nova released herself. "Good morning," Kasiya said, smiling when the young Charmander greeted her with a grin and a wave before prodding the rest of Kasiya's Pokeballs. Within seconds her entire party was sitting on the bed, all looking refreshed and rested. "Hey everyone, how about we go get ourselves some breakfast?" she asked, laughing at the loud chorus of cheers that followed.

Slinging her backpack over her shoulder Kasiya turned to leave her room after ushering out her six Pokemon, stopping to take a lingering glance at Keegan's things that remained behind, virtually untouched from last night. He didn't come back at all, she thought, a mixture of disappointment, sadness and worry churning in her stomach. I wonder what happened to him? Pushing the thoughts from her mind she locked the door and gave the room key to the ever-cheerful nurse after giving a brief description of the redhead and informing her that he'd be back to pick up his stuff later, hopefully. Once that business was settled she headed for the cafeteria, ignoring the looks she was getting for having her full party follow her around. She lined up and grabbed a tray and a bunch of bowls, and filled each of them up with Pokemon food before giving them to the Pokemon that were capable of carrying them over to a table. That group consisted of Nova, Digger and Leviathan, though Kasiya couldn't help but notice the dirty looks being exchanged between the Sandslash and Marshtomp. She filled up bowls for the other three Pokemon and balanced them on her tray while gathering up a good breakfast for herself - a plate of waffles, a bowl of fresh-cut fruit and a tall glass of chocolate milk and as she looked around for a place to sit she spotted Mitsu and Kilik sitting together at a table. They look like they don't want to be interrupted, she thought with a sly smile, following her Pokemon over to the table they'd picked. She set the three bowls of Pokemon food on the floor for Flash, Twilight and Rosemary before starting her own breakfast.

"Yep, I'm all set," Jaeshan nodded, clipping Butterfree's Pokeball back onto his belt. He was glad to see that Riza was eager to get started, though he wasn't sure if she was more excited over the actual training or the chance at her first gym match. He was a bit more careful this time as he navigated Vermilion City's streets, though the fact that there were plenty of signs pointing the way to the Pokemon Center definitely helped a lot. Before long the familiar building came into view, and Jaeshan knew now that it was a matter of remembering which street to follow now. I think it's this way, he thought, finally choosing a path. Yeah, he was sure it was the right way as they passed by a sign that had been the target of some kid's graffiti.

"Here it is!" he announced loudly as they came upon the empty lot, just as he remembered it. The ground looked fairly trodden on and there were gouges and gashes in the earth, some of which looked fairly recent. "So," he said, turning to Riza, "any Pokemon in particular that you want to start out with?" He'd already taken Weedle and Squirtle's Pokeballs from his belt and was rolling them along his fingers in anticipation.

He sure doesn't waste any time, Mai thought, carefully eying the Ninetales and Arbok that the redhead had sent out to counter her Pokemon. This should be quick. She had to admit that his lead-off strategy was quite clever, but it would take more than a few status effects to stop her. "Dodge!" she commanded firmly, but Celsius had already fallen victim to Loki's menacing Glare, and hovered on the spot, unable to move. Shocker, on the other hand, sprang up into the air, somersaulting out of the way of the oncoming wisps of fire. She'd been burned a few times before and she did not feel the need to experience it again. "Celsius, Blizzard," Mai commanded. "Shocker, Thunder!" She was still having trouble calling the Raichu by it's name, but she knew it would generate the best response if she continued to do so. The Glalie, however, was currently immobile due to her paralysis and could do nothing but stare ahead silently, as even remaining airborne was becoming trickier. Shocker, on the other hand, involuntarily flinched when she heard her orders - Thunder was the strongest electrical attack in her arsenal and Mai hadn't hesitated to call for it. The Raichu grinned however, as a plan came to mind. Sparks flared from her cheeks as she shot a jolt of electricity into the sky, calling down a tremendous bolt of lightning that she directed at Helios (okay, not directly at Helios, but more like in his general direction), though it missed completely. The Raichu growled angrily at her failed attack, hoping Mai was aware of Thunder's unreliable accuracy and wouldn't catch on to the fact that she'd missed on purpose.

Helios snorted angrily when he saw the Raichu dodge the Will-o-Wisp, but hardly had time to reflect upon it as very soon a rather large bolt of lightning was heading his way, and the Ninetales, though unaware of Shocker's conscious effort to purposefully miss him, he was still appreciative of it nevertheless. Keegan, on the other hand, was a little shocked (ha ha) at Shocker's lousy aim, but he pretended not to notice and instead chose to be grateful that Loki's Glare had been successful. "Dive underground, Loki!" he commanded next, wishing he had something to lean up against. "And Helios, Heat Wave! Full blast!"

Loki, also having seen the near-miss by the Thunder attack didn't hesitate to comply and the Arbok plunged into the ground, disappearing in a cloud of dust and debris. He hadn't been told specifically, but he knew whom his target was. Helios, on the other hand, upon seeing his teammate burrow safely underground firmly planted his four paws and inhaled deeply, the movement of his tails mimicking flame as he released a scalding hot breath that scorched the battlefield around him.
=====
"Seadra! Are you okay?" Marina cried worriedly, literally standing on the edge of her rock. The Dragon Pokemon righted itself and gave it's head a shake, feeling noticeably weaker after being hit by that Psychic attack. "Good, now hit that Starmie with your Bubblebeam attack!" Nodding, Seadra dove beneath the surface and sped forward, unleashing a forceful spray of bubbles towards Starrie.

The Bubblebeam hit it's target with surprising accuracy, and it seemed to do a lot more damage than it should have. That must have been a critical hit, Miharu thought, studying her Pokemon. Starrie seemed quite able to go on, and when Miharu called out for a Tackle attack to finish Seadra off, Starrie zipped forwards, crashing into the Dragon Pokemon. It bobbed up to the water's surface, unable to continue battling. "Nice job, Starrie!" Miharu cheered. "That's two wins for you!"

"That's two wins for you," Marina muttered in a mocking tone as she recalled her Seadra. "Well, you won't beat my strongest Pokemon! Marina chooses you, Golduck!" There was something overly dramatic about the way Marina threw her last Pokeball, though there was no mistaking the fact that the Golduck she'd sent out looked quite tough. It's beak was curved up into a smirk and it's arms were crossed. "Use Screech! And then follow it up with Fury Swipes!" The Golduck slashed the air with it's claws and opened it's mouth, letting out the most horrible noise Miharu had ever heard. It made her ears ring and she had to cover them with her palms, and it was safe to say that Starrie wasn't faring any better. Though it had no discernible ears the Pokemon was still cowering, and it was left wide open to the sudden onslaught of strikes from the Duck Pokemon, which had moved so fast that neither Miharu nor Starrie had noticed it.

A slight frown appeared on Mai's lips when she saw the Arbok disappear underground, and she too knew just which Pokemon Keegan intended to attack. She knew Raichu weren't bursting with stamina and that if that Dig attack were to make contact it would be big trouble for Shocker. The Heat Wave coming from the Ninetales was also a big problem, but with Celsius being paralyzed and the Raichu having no moves to counter it all she could do was watch as the blazing heat washed over her two Pokemon. That Ninetales is strong, she thought, shielding her eyes from the hot air. It would make a lovely present for Giovanni! Celsius closed her eyes and grunted in discomfort from the flames while Shocker curled herself up into a ball, whimpering. When it was over, the mouse's tawny body was visibly singed and blistered all over, and Shocker growled angrily. Hadn't Helios realized that she missed him on purpose? What was the deal? She jumped to her feet, sparking angrily. It was on now!

"Celsius, Shadow Ball, now!" Mai barked sharply. The Glalie had been lucky enough not to be burned by Helios' intense Heat Wave, but that didn't mean it hadn't hurt. The horns on Celsius' head both began to glow as a dark orb of ghostly energy formed between them, and with a grunt the Glalie sent the shadowy orb spinning towards the Ninetales. Shocker, meanwhile, had been commanded to send a Thunderbolt Helios' way, and after suffering a burn thanks to the Ninetales, Shocker answered quickly, generating a strong current of electricity in her body before she launched it at the fox. There, that would show him!

Riza looked around the clearing somewhat disdainfully. It wasn't quite what she'd been expecting but she guessed it would do. "Looks like I'm not the only one eager to get started," she chuckled, nodding at the two poke balls. "I would like to work with my Cyndaquil some. She doesn't know ember yet, but I don't think it'll be too much longer. Though, maybe you should meet all my Pokemon anyway!"

She eagerly released the four of them all at once, laughing as Eris waddled over to her leg and hugged it. "Cynda!" she squeaked, begging to be picked up.

"No no, it's time for training," Riza said, kneeling down and patting the young Pokemon on the head. "This nice boy is going to train with us," she added, gesturing to Jaeshan. Eris and the three others all looked towards the tall boy curiously. Akima and Yula exchanged glances and nodded, it sounded good to them, though the Corphish shrugged and clacked her pincers noisily. "Let's get started then!" Riza said, standing up. "You get to go first, Eris," she said, scooping up the Cyndaquil and carrying her over to the far end of the field. "Okay Jae! Ready when you are!" she called, hoping she wouldn't offend Jaeshan by using a shortened version of his name.

"Now try to use wing attack," Katie called, not wanting Noa to be on the receiving end of another barrage of poisoned needles. Noa struggled to get up off the ground but found that she couldn't. Katie could swear the Roselia was laughing to itself as it thrust it's roses forward, once again releasing a volley of poison sting at the immobile Staravia. "Oh no, Noa, return now," Katie sighed, looking at the ball after the bird had been recalled. "Take a good rest, you did really well today. That stun spore is serious stuff." Katie narrowed her eyes and put the ball back on her belt as she faced the Roselia again, flipping a long orange ponytail out of her face. "All right, you asked for it," she said. "Genki, let's get 'em!" The ever energetic Monferno appeared in front of her, hopping from foot to foot. 'Okay I don't want it using stun spore again so we'd best provoke it into using direct attacks.' Katie smiled. "Genki, use your taunt!"

The playful Pokemon gave a cheeky grin and clapped his hands together before he stuck his tongue out at the flower Pokemon, stuffed his thumbs in his ears and turned around, waggling his butt at her, the flame on the end of his long tail flaring brightly. It was safe to say that the action was more than enough to provoke Roselia into attacking, and she growled in anger as she sent another spray of poison sting at the Monferno.

He popped a few grapes into his mouth, savoring the flavor. He figured that Treecko would've loved to try one. Taking a napkin, Kilik put a few grapes onto it silently. He looked up as Mitsu sat down and smiled at her. He took a huge bite out of a green apple and chewed it, nodding as she spoke, swallowing the chunk that was in his mouth. "Mmhm," he said, holding the apple in his hand, shaking it a bit. "And then we'll be outta here. And I for one," he laughed slightly, "Can't wait to be in a place far out of Giovanni's reach. I mean, it'll be pretty hard for a Team Rocket helicopter to get into Sinnoh so easily. There," he sighed, biting into his apple again. He chewed it up and swallowed it, "we'll be safe. We can just...go. Train. Collect badges. Do whatever in the world we want and not have to be afraid of Giovanni popping up out of no where to ruin the good times."

He put his quarter of an apple on the plate, suddenly feeling in the mood for an orange. He picked up the sphere and held it up to his mouth, biting into the rough, tart skin. Using his teeth, Kilik peeled a straight line then opened it in half, a nearly-perfect orange peel intact. "My dad taught me that," he laughed. The moment he bit into the actual orange, however, his mouth was flooded with juice. It had to have been the most juicy orange he'd ever had in his life. He'd have to save some of that for Cable. As an Elekid, his first food was an orange, so the Electabuzz was quite partial to them. He glanced over at Kasiya, who was sitting with her Pokemon at a table a few rows down from them. Kilik put his fingers up to his lips and whistled to get her attention. "Kas," he called out, "Come over here!" he waved her over. Maybe it was just her Pokemon, as they had picked the spot, that didn't want to be around the two of them.

Kilik looked up at Mitsu with a smile. He reached his hand out over the table and put it on hers, brushing his thumb over her knuckles.

Giovanni couldn't believe his eyes. All of his computers were going haywire. "What's going on?! What's happened!?" He turned to one of the scientists, who couldn't explain anything. All of the computer screens were hazy, and images could barely be made sense of. Suddenly, Giovanni placed his hands on his head, slouching forward. He grit his teeth, and began to groan.

Cease this experimentation...

"Lord Giovanni!" A Rocket Grunt shouted, coming close to the man. Swinging one of his arms, Giovanni landed his forearm against the Grunt's stomach and sent the man flying. The Boss struggled to keep his composure, slamming his eyes shut in pain.

You do not know the power...

"Leave..." Giovanni took a weak step forward, placing a hand on one of his computer consoles. His fingers closed into a fist. "Me..." he slammed his fist against the computer few times. "ALONE!" he cried out, opening his eyes. He swung his fist into the monitor, glass shattering and electricity crackling. Giovanni began to breathe heavily, feeling his hand grow warm with his own blood. The man took a few steps back, visibly shaken. His knuckles were bleeding profusely, along with the top of his hand. The other computers booted up, and everything had returned to normal. He clutched his bleeding hand and a few medics rushed into the room, kneeling in front of him to work on his hand.

"We should get you to the OR, sir," said one of the men, noticing all the blood on his labcoat. Giovanni nodded and started to leave, panting heavily. He looked over his shoulder.

"Which...which one of you called me down here?" he asked quietly.

A few of the scientists looked at each other, then one stepped forward. "...None of us did, sir."

It wasn't until both attacks were being aimed at Helios that Keegan realized that having Loki use Dig meant that the Ninetales was left wide open. "No, damn it! Helios, move it!" he shouted. Not needing to be told twice Helios quickly dashed to the side, though not enough to dodge completely and he was sideswiped by the Glalie's Shadow Ball, and it stunned him long enough for him to take the full force of Shocker's Thunderbolt. The ground rumbled slightly and Keegan narrowed his eyes. Get her, Loki, he thought, momentarily forgetting that the Raichu belonged to someone quite close to him. Loki shot up out of the earth in a shower of rock and debris, hissing viciously before lunging at Shocker, fangs bared and ready to strike.

"Now Helios, you attack her, too!" the redhead commanded, pointing at the electric mouse. Trying to shake off the last Thunderbolt, Helios narrowed his eyes, which now held a sinister violet aura, at the Raichu. The air around the Ninetales became warped and distorted, and soon the area around Shocker did as well. Wait, I didn't even give a specific order, Keegan thought suddenly, fidgeting around in his pocket for his PokeDex, but lo and behold, he hadn't thought to bring it with him. "What is that?" he muttered to himself, very much confused. "It looks like some kind of psychic attack..."
=====
The Golduck's attacks were all so fast that one could only see the flash of it's claws as they raked at the Starmie's body, leaving several deep marks as a result. Starrie reeled from the attack, scooting back through the water to put some distance between itself and the Golduck. The agile blue duck jumped from the water, did an elegant back-flip and landed perfectly atop a smaller rock jutting out of the water nearby. Oh man, it is strong, Miharu thought worriedly. "Okay Starrie, give 'em a Thunderbolt! That ought to slow 'em down!" she called, trying to ignore the fact that her voice had just cracked.

Starrie, still recuperating after that last vicious attack spiraled out of the water and loosed a strong bolt of electricity at the Duck Pokemon, and for a moment it looked like it would score a direct hit. Before it could strike, however, the Golduck's eyes flashed blue and it raised it's hand, and the Thunderbolt crashed into an unseen wall of force that protected it from the super-effective hit. The electricity fizzled out, and the Golduck lowered his hand, beak curved up in a wicked grin. "An excellent use of Psychic, wouldn't you agree?" Marina called out, the grin on her face matching that of her Pokemon. "I told you it wouldn't be that easy. Your Starmie's going down!"

"We'll see about that," Miharu growled. "Thunderbolt it again, Starrie! It can't hold up that shield forever!"

"Nuh uh," Marina jeered, waggling a finger at Miharu. "That's a really bad idea. My Golduck's Psychic abilities are far too advanced for a one-trick Ponyta like your Starmie! It may be pretty but it's got a long way to go with it's battle skills! Golduck, you know what to do!" The Golduck simply raised his hand like before, though this time Miharu was able to see the glimmer of his psychic energy as he once again created the dome-like shield to protect himself from the electricity. Starrie kept pouring it on though, generating a stronger Thunderbolt than before. This wasn't about to stop the Golduck as his eyes glowed bright blue again and he slowly raised his other hand while pushing outward with the other. A slight, sudden ripple coursed through the air as the dome-shaped shield inverted, and due to the new concave nature of the shield it reflected the energy right back at his attacker.
