Okay. Thank you Tonas.

I kinda figured that Karasurei. Thank you. But what would I have?

Besides, they could exist.... there is magic, so...? I don't know. I need a decision from Tonas on what I can and can't have.

Not really, I'm kind of aiming for technology to be before the "WoW" style age. So, that means no gunpowder as weaponry, plumbing is only for fountains and restrooms. Engineering is limited to buildings and golems brought to life by magic. So, it is more or less medieval times with a slightly more advanced technology in only a few areas.

It's essentially where we would be today if society had taken the path of "magic" over "science".

Well there are some basic stand-ins, you have flashpowder and smokebombs, oil, tinderboxes...probably grappling hooks, being creative is important as a thief. I actually suggest replacing those throwing daggers with a shortbow or a light crossbow if Tonas allows....like tie a small bell to a crossbow bolt and shoot it into a tree to distract a patrol?
PostPosted: Thu Sep 17, 2009 11:01 am

You'd do well with using poison on your arrows and knives to. Other than what Kai already said you would use some type of magical item to do. For example in Forgotten Realms many thieves have self tieing ropes (Not to take away from the grappling hook) or powders they can throw onto the ground to make smoke, darkness, temporary blindness, even minor exsplosions in one or two. Or rods, sticks with ends that are coated at the end with adhesive to grab objects from outside a window... many things that you could possibly do.

The bell is a good idea, but it would be a bit hard to distract a patrol with a bell. It may set them on edge even more.

Just to let everyone know, Haven is a giant city, so there are multiple districts that you can go to. I won't require that you go everywhere together, but be advised that if you are in a different area of the city while a member(s) of the party are under attack, you will not be able to help them.

Quests will be accepted universally however, meaning if one person gains a quest, the entire group now is on the same quest. You of course, can have multiple ones at a time.

These are the following areas:

City Gates District - The primary entrance and exit of Haven
Graveyard District - The dead of several centuries rest here, undisturbed and held in reverence by those who live on.
Temple District - Home to the grand cathedral of Balpheron, along with temples dedicated to the rest of the human pantheon, and a few other gods from other races' divinities.
Market District - Numerous shops can be found here. Including a few unique shops. Medium income citizens often live here.
Docks District - The main harbor area of Haven, also rumored home of several thieving syndicates
Slums District - The lower income citizens tend to live within this district. Thieves are known to operate here as well.
Government District - The location of the ruling council of Haven. Only the richest and most influential individuals reside within this well-guarded section of the city.
Mage's Quarters - The great mage tower looms above all the other structures in the city, it stands at roughly three times the height of the great cathedral. Home to Archmage Alanna and the Mage's Guild.
Dwarven Quarters - These are the homes of the masons and craftsmen from the mountain territories. They possess the strongest ales and the finest quality goods one might find in the world of Atur.

ahem...
theives tools, extendable 10 foot pole, rope ladder, hidden weapon, secret compartment in boot, hidden pockets, ring with poison injector, weights (for replacing items with a weight sensitive trigger), caltrops, grease, fishing line (makeshift garrote...plus helps when hungry), canvas (for covering/hiding things under as well as makeshift tent), mirror, bags...loads of em...., goggles, magnifying glass, crowbar, flasks/vials, holy symbol (for faking...get several), and a disguise kit...but that is just of the top of my head.

Well I know where Laren is going!!! Best ale in the world! WOOT! mrgreen

Also my ideas on theiving tools- Go for Masterwork.. DO IT!!! Lockpicks are a must as well a probes to disable traps.

I also realized... Prometheus and Phineas(sorry if I butchered the names) are the only other elves in the city that I know of... >.>

edit: greetings new person.

Okay... Gonna explain this for probably the third time:

Spellcasting

In this Example I will demonstrate how exactly the spell system works, pay attention to how "CASTER" works.

Caster knows and has memorized:
1 level 5 spell
2 level 4 spells
3 level 3 spells
4 level 2 spells
5 level 1 spells

Caster USES 5 level 1 spells in one battle.
Caster still has available to use:
1 level 5 spell
2 level 4 spells
3 level 3 spells
4 level 2 spells

You do not become exhausted unless you go OVER the limit of the spells that you currently know.

Caster uses a level 1 spell again, pushing them over the limit, Caster draws from the next level up of memorized spells.
Caster now has:
1 level 5 spell
2 level 4 spells
3 level 3 spells
3 level 2 spells

You cannot cast beyond your limit on the highest level, meaning:
Caster casts a level 5 spell.
Caster casts another level 5 spell.

Caster uses up ALL his available spells.
Caster attempts to cast any spell, Caster becomes exhausted.
Caster attempts to use another spell, Caster is KO'd.

There are only a handful of spells that will automatically exhaust you or take a greater toll on your character than normal. These will be in the descriptions of the spells when you check with me.

Thank you and good night.

Not really, but anyways, moving on:

purest_heart
Well I know where Laren is going!!! Best ale in the world! WOOT! mrgreen

Dwarves are definitely not on the friendliest terms with elves, so I wouldn't count on meeting too many friendly faces. As far as elves go within Haven's walls, there are plenty, as well as dwarves, humans and halflings. The current "conflict" is the only reason there are few (if any) orcs.

The reason why there are less elves in the city than dwarves is simply because of the elves' haughty nature, they feel superior, therefore less tend to stray from the forests to the east.

Also, purest_heart and beast79, you need to check in with me for your level up.

WereWeasels
hello

Hi Were. Feel free to lurk around in the OOC as much as you like. I doubt any of these 6 players will be leaving any time soon, but we're always glad to hear other opinions, thoughts and comments.

Everyone, WereWeasels is on the Waitlist, meaning if anybody quits the RP, he'll join up and fill in.

Sure glad Ididn't get stuck on a waitlist... By the time someone would quit I would likely have moved on to another RP.

Also Laren doesn't really care that the dwarves may not like her, though I'm pretty sure they will be impressed with her drinking prowess, they got good beer, she wants good beer. Its a win win haha!

Thank you very much everyone that contributed. smile I now have a list of things that I need. Thank you. I also think it'll help me understand the character.

Partial Update:

No longer keeping track of ammunition.. too damn much work.
The only exception is enchanted ammo, don't assume just because you found 1 (Arrows +2) that there are an infinity of them. You will not find these items in stores, but when you find them, I will specify how much there are in the cache and you should be conscious of how long it would take to run out.

Also, Laren may be a good drinker, but she's still an elf. Elves are not known for high constitutions. Granted, Legolas managed to outdrink Gimli in LOTR, but hey, its LOTR and hey, its Legolas. Creative liberties.
PostPosted: Fri Sep 18, 2009 9:31 am

Ahh but I would think that a woman that only enters cities for three things(Supplies, booze, and the occasional one night stand) would be able to hold her own in a drinking contest. Still they are dwarves... Heavier drinkers than the Irish...

Edit: That Studded Leather Armor of the Hawk looks interesting... Would greatly assit in Laren's marksmenship. I like it razz

Yeah the armor does look very ranger oriented, and you seem to favor using bows...maybe we should discuss expenditures in OOC as well?
