Does anyone know enough on particles to teach the rest?
PostPosted: Wed Dec 27, 2006 4:03 am

Would anyone be so kind as to point out any mistakes here? I had to look up a few words and kanji so I assume some of it is wrong... Plus the grammar was so confusing. >_< Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure this has it so you can study the kanji. I think this site is just nice for studying kanji in general rofl

[て」used as a particle in a sentence has multiple uses (12 actually), here are a few:
1.) Indicates that two actions occur simultaneously or successively.
「桜の花が散って、若葉が出始めた。」「さくらのはながちって、わかばがではじめた。」"The cherry blossoms have scattered, adn the leaves have begun to appear."

2.)Indicates a reason or cause:-> English approximation of "because".
「あの子は、先生にしかられて泣いている。」「あのこは、せんせいにしかられてないている。」"That child is crying because (he/she) was scolded by (his/her) teacher."

3.) Indicates a method for an action-> English approximation of "by" or "with"
「私は、コーヒーにお砂糖とミルクを入れて飲みます。」「わたしは、コーヒーおさとうとミルクをいれてのみます。」"I drink my coffee with milk and sugar. (Literally: I put milk and sugar in my coffee (and that is the way I) drink coffee).

4.) As a conjunction, list of items.-> English approximation of "and"
「彼女は、優しくて気さくで、たれにでも好かれる。」「かのじょは、やさしくて、きさくで、たれにでもすかれる。」"She is nice and she is down-to-earth, so (she) is liked by everyone.

5.) After a verb, in the pattern 『~(っ)て~(っ)て~まくる。-> English approximation "...and..."
「引出しに入れておいた一万円が見つからない。僕は探して探して探しまくった。」「ひきだしにいれておいたいちまんえんがみつからない。ぼくはさがしてさがしてさがしまくった。」"I couldn't find the ten thousand yen that I put in the drawer. I looked and looked (like crazy).

in the naruto opening song, ROCKS, they say “i wanna rocks, mune ni rocks”. but i read mune means chest, and i know ni is two. so, what am i missing here?
dumb question, i know sweatdrop
PostPosted: Thu Jan 11, 2007 8:16 pm

Ni doesn't only mean 2.

mune ni ROCKS

Would probably be like

In the chest ROCKS

Since they mention the heart a few times in the song, it's probably kinda aimed at the heart with mune ni ROCKS

I get it now, thank you. I didn't realize ni was also a noun particle. I've only just begun learning.

I didn't mean in here. I meant in another thread. Aiko san already did はandが. I was hoping someone could not only explain all the rest to me, but to other beginners as well.

Does my alias, Nosada, mean anything in Japanese? I got it from a Final Fantasy game. Also, how would I write in Japanese?
