Tunda smiles slightly at Mel's words, then nods, grabbing another cookie to nibble on as he looks around the garden once more. There really was nothing for him to add to the conversation, since all he had were deep-seated fears of being thrust back into the life he just left.

Mel grinned back to the pokemon and leaned his head against the chair, looking around at the garden. He loved to talk because it came naturally, but he was also good at being quiet or wandering off to do his own thing, in the presence of another. He could do so for hours. Perhaps his long bouts of rambling were making up for that "lost" time?

Perhaps it was because of how peaceful the garden was, and also the feeling of safety he got from Mel's presence that made it possible for Tunda to fall into a calm, quiet sleep, a half-eaten cookie still clutched in one of his hands.

(( Aww! <3 ))
It took Mel a while to realize that Tunda had fallen asleep, mainly from the lack of movement and the little sounds, just deep, even breathing. Glancing back at the pokemon, he grinned, then looked around. I wonder if he would wake up if I sneak back inside for a book? After a little while, he hoped long enough to fall into that deep sleep that is not easily roused from, he quietly rose to his feet, brushed himself off, and went inside for one of the books he was currently reading. It really took little time at all, just enough time for him to travel the short distance to his room and back.

Tunda, having indeed fallen into that deep, nearly unbreakable sleep, didn't notice that Mel's presence was no longer nearby and continued to doze rather peacefully.

It seemed as if Tunda had not moved at all in Mel's absence. It should be no surprise that his made Mel very happy, and if nothing else this right here made all the trouble (but mostly the worry) worth it. With a grin he tiptoed back out and sat next to the chair with his book and his tail curled up around his ankles.

Tunda's face scrunches up in his sleep, as if he were beginning to have a nightmare, his body curling up defensively, as if to ward off some horrible blows, low whimpers escaping him.

Mel blinked up from his book at the sound of the pokemon stirring, and in fact it had jarred him just a little. Craning up to watch Tunda, he saw what could only be a nightmare. Frowning a little, the dragon reached up to pet Tunda's head gently, wondering with vague worry if Tunda could electrocute people in his sleep. Since Mel was not trying to wake him, he could always hope for the best.

At first, Tunda flinches away from the contact with another whimper, then, nose twitching in the air, he seems to calm down as he takes in Mel's scent, clinging to the others wrist in his sleep as if it were a lifeline.

(( D'x <3 ))
Mel made a face, appalled at how desperate Tunda felt even now, in his sleep. Yes, he understood that Tunda would be having nightmares even years in the future, but it wasn't fair. He was safe now! The dragon sighed after a moment and nudged the pokemon over in the chair so that he could sit next to him, then wrapped an arm around him. I can read one-handed, he thought to himself, stretching out his legs.

(( XD ))
Tunda makes a small whine in the back of his throat at being pushed over, then, when Mel sits next to him and wraps an arm around him, he snuggles as close as possible to the offered protection, a small, contented sounding purr emanating from his scrawny frame.

Mel eyed Tunda. If he were awake he probably would have poked his ribs. We really need to fatten this guy up. But Inari was not currently around, so that left someone else to cook a huge dinner that would likely make Tunda ready to pop. Hmm... Of course, Mel could hardly keep any weight on, himself. He was not the best person to consider such things.

((XD We can skip to later, if you want? Tunda's likely to be out for awhile. The day was quite exhausting and new for him, after all. 8D ))
A small, happy smile crosses Tunda's face as he sleeps, obviously feeling safe with Mel close by.

(( Sounds good. I was thinking about that earlier but wasn't sure how far to skip. Later that day, a couple days later, a week or two later? o: ))
When it was apparent that Tunda was finally sleeping contentedly (which brought the question to mind of just how well Tunda had slept alone the night before) Mel re-opened his book and gingerly flipped the pages with the fingertips of just the one hand.

((Hrm... I dunno...? Maybe long enough for his leg to heal up some, yet not long enough for him to have met everyone in the mansion or run into any of the ones he was warned against...? XD))
Tunda purrs again in his sleep, much louder than he had any other time that day.
