Raquel blinked blankly at the plate, biting her lip a bit more before taking a small bite of a piece of toast, her face turning a bit red as she closed her eyes to savor it. She laid it down feeling all sorts of awkward. She had never accepted help from anyone before. This was extremely strange and hard for her. "T-thank you..." She said quietly as she tried to get herself to take each piece of food carefully and individually, making sure she enjoyed each and every morsel. Though when she started to speed up a bit, her stomach pained, letting her know it wasn't used to this.
Richard hardly paid her any attention for he was hungry himself. He grabbed plate and dug in, enjoying his meal though at a much faster pace.

"I'm in the process of buying a place for all of us," Damian said offhandedly as he took a bit of egg onto his fork. "Well, it would be in my name, but it would have several bedrooms and places for everyone. With any luck, it should be ready for us within the week..." His rather blank eyes kept to his plate. Right beside him was a ravenous woman who would probably end up sick in some way from all the food, but she needed her privacy. Lorey sat almost in front of him, looking to him with those blue eyes in question. He was, of course, doing all he could to avoid them.
"But Damian... we'd have to pay you rent or something--"
"No. Not until you could stand on your own two feet at least..." Damian looked to Raquel for some sort of answer or approval. She was invited to stay as well. What did he have to lose then?

Raquel had stopped eating long enough to look at him questioningly as well. "I-isn't that a little much? I mean..." She didn't know what she meant really. She felt a bit shy for some reason, being around so many people she didn't know who were treating her so kindly. It wasn't what she was used to to say the least. She felt more comfortable, oddly enough, alone with Damian.
Richard on the other hand, furrowed his brow in deep thought. Damaian may have just solved a problem for him. Though he couldn't speak with him in front of Lorey. "Erm...Damian. May I have a word?" He said, wiping his mouth with a napkin and standing, giving him a look of urgency in his eyes.

"Yes, of course." After muttering a little apology to the women (more so to Raquel for not even answering her) and even giving a slight bow, Damian stood to follow Richard to wherever it was where he felt he had privacy. In his fuzzy, sleep-deprived mind, there was nothing he could deny Richard or all he had done for Lorey.
Lorey took this time alone to have a bit of a talk with this new woman. She was far from jealous... but her curiosity and confusion needed to be cleared up. "I'm sorry if this strikes a nerve, but... are you... are you..." And yet for all the bravery it took for her to speak to Raquel, Lorey found she couldn't quite come out with it. "I'm sorry," she settled on saying. "I was raised in the south slums. I just feel like... I've seen people like you before. Hungry and hurt, I mean. I've been there, too. Still am, in a way."

Richard brought Damian towards the window/balcony of the room and cleared his throat, trying to keep his voice low. "Listen...I still have...'leads' to my late wife's death..." he began, feeling a little uncomfortable but ignoring it. "I can't just ignore them, they're hot and I need to act soon. That's why our friend Vi and Enty are working on my craft so we can take off..." He furrowed his brow. "The leads shouldn't take me far from Veratia if not here in the city itself. I just..." This was the hard part. "I just don't want Lorey mixed up in it...I tried to explain to her that what I do is dangerous, and she wont listen..." He smiled a little, looking back lovingly toward the kitchen. "Ah- anyways...I was hoping...if you do invest in this home...could you keep Lorey safe? For the short periods of time that I'd be absent. I don't want her to come with me for many reasons..." He added, his eyes growing dark with past memories. "She wont like it...but it's what's best for her."
Raquel felt a little less vulnerable now that she was alone with Lorey. She found the girl to be absolutely adorable! On top of that just fascinating to her. "Deary it's quite alright. Yes...I'm a prostitute. A hooker, a slut, a s-" She stopped herself, knowing that she may not know half the terms that Raquel had been called through out the years. "Anyways...I'm fine with that part of myself." She lied, her eyes giving it away. "It's just how I survive you know? Only thing I can get paid for..." Her eyes turned downcast as she picked at a crumb on her plate idly.

Damian listened very carefully. His gaze became very critical, almost burning. Of course he understood why this was all going on, but it did not mean he would accept it any more than Lorey would. "Richard, you know I would always keep her safe. But why the hell are you with her in the first place if you are still trying to catch the person who may have killed your wife?" Very quickly he gave a glance into the kitchen, licking his dry lips. "As if it isn't bad enough that she very well knows she's second in your heart, and to someone who is a perfect stranger to her no less, you're still..." How could he put it? "You're still... good lord, I can't blame you. But it isn't fair to Lorey if you're still chasing ghosts of the past."
Lorey nodded sadly. It was a story she had heard from too many other people, both men and women alike. "But you won't be doing that while you're with us, right? And you're going to make sure your health is intact?" She could vaguely make out the hushed conversation in the back somewhere, and with a little scowl, she said, "I hate secrets..."

Richard grew a bit impatient, takinga threatening step toward Damian. "Listen, I love Lorey more than anything. My wife would have wanted me to move on in my love life and that's what I'm going to do. But you dont understand. There's a killer out there, who ruined my life, ruined Lorey's and is in the process of ruining yours!" His whisper becme fierce yet still quiet. It was also the first time that Richard experssed his thoughts on the killers of their loved ones. "I Have a feeling- no a lead that they may all be connected. It's fitting too well and I can't just let it die." He looked back to Lorey and sighed. "If I don't do it for me...I'm doing it for Lorey. To find the person that put her through all this pain and suffering..." His eys watered momentarily but he blinked them away. "Just ...try to understand...please..." He pleaded, looking Damian in the eye.
"I suppose...I'm just here at Damian's request..." She sighed but then quickly corrected herself. "I-i mean as a guest, he didnt want me out on the streets , not-" She sighed. "Never mind..." She laughed at herself as she glanced over to look at the two men, seemingly arguing in the other room. "Ah...It's just what men do. They have their little secrets that make them feel powerful or stronger or..or..i don't know...in control?" She wasn't sure what she meant as usual. Though she had been in contact with many a man who indulged in their secrets, either from work, peers or even wives...

"Then we should do it together, not have you storming out into space to get killed!" Damian took an equal step towards him, making them dangerously face-to-face. He took a deep breath that made his nostrils flare like some sort of angry bull, though he hardly looked the part for such strength. "My immediate reaction was that you would have to be an idiot not to treasure every waking moment with her. But I also said I could not blame you for pursuing this..." Although it would give Damian time with Lorey, without the presence of her lover, he still did not want her happiness ruined in any way. "How long would you be gone for?" he finally consented. "And what would you do when you found this person, kill them?" As if that would make everything better, he thought. But then, maybe it would.
"Hm..." Lorey couldn't see it from where she was, but she just shrugged. "We have our secrets, too, eh?" she said, with a sad little smile. "Like one of mine: I've been hit before, too. Right here." Lorey pointed to her cheek, just to the right of her mouth, but closer to her chin. "Richard's never heard that story before."

Richard took a deep breath to calm himself down. "Not long. If I can pic up Enty and our speeder is in working order, I could be back within just a few days...no longer." He looked to Damian with a dedicated face. "Listen... I've seen things...I know things...Things that would keep you awake for months. But I know... just...trust me. If I don't go it could put Lorey and the rest of us in danger. Grave danger." He said quietly, his eyes holding some hidden pain behind them.
Raquel nodded, understanding what it was like. She tenderly touched her own cheek as if to relate. "I have a dark past...far too many secrets to even take notice anymore..." She sighed, feeling obligated to share something with this bubbly creature. But everything that came ot mind would most likely give her nightmares. So she simply settled on watering down her life's story. "I've been framed for many crimes I've never committed...some they say they have proof, but even them, I honestly never remember..." She said quietly, her mind remembering all the horrid events in her mind

It was so difficult to find the strength to simply say, "Alright." Damian took a step back, also to cool himself down. It would do no good to fight, especially so close to the two women. "But I swear, Richard, if you never come back, I am not sure if I'll ever forgive you. Regardless, you have to tell Lorey. She deserves the truth."
To this, she also nodded. Not that she had the same problems, but her past wasn't exactly wonderful, either. "I was never framed or anything... but my mother died. We believe she was murdered." Just saying those words out loud made this conversation so surreal. Lorey hadn't wanted to make it true, but Damian wouldn't lie to her, and she refused to lie to herself. "Anyhow, ever since then, I've been on my own, cleaning. It's been so strange, though... friends die, jobs get taken away, but... any time someone tried to hurt me, something always... stopped them."
Lorey remembered another story she had never told Richard, about how she had almost been raped in an alley way, but something from behind them had scared the man away. He had looked so terrified, like a small child to a monster in the closet, but by the time Lorey had collected herself, there had been nothing there. Not a soul.

Richard merely nodded, understanding and thankful. "Thank you...Though, I'll need to talk to her alone..." He asked, hinting that they not be there to here what would most likely turn into an argument. He sighed and returned his attention to the ladies. Smiling a little as he caught Lorey's eye for a moment.
Raquel blinked a few times but said nothing as Lorey discussed her mother's murder. It seemed everyone had a similar plot in life. Did Damian simply want her around because she shared a similar background to Lorey? If he wanted that, he could find any other wretched girl off the streets. But why her? Why now? She furrowed her brow, looking down at her skirt, which she realized was a little dirty. She suddenly felt self conscious again, grabbing a napkin and glass of water, keeping herself busy with the small spots on her skirt.

"There's a room right there," he said, gesturing to the bathroom, which was rather large enough for two people. "Or I can take Raquel out for some new clothing and supplies. Goodness knows she needs it..." Damian again passed his hand over his face in an attempt to make himself more awake. It didn't work for any blood flow, only for making him look more frustrated. "Does Lorey need anything? Do you?" he asked, thinking that the shopping plan might not be a bad thing. "Just write down sizes and I'll try my hand at being a fashionista." He was even willing to kill a part of his masculinity to make Lorey happy.
Lorey was looking down as she caught his eye, but her gaze soon returned to his. The smile was almost instantaneous, as was the small bloom of blush in her cheek. "Meeting Richard has made me so happy..." she mumbled. "We're both so beaten, but it all just... goes away when we're together." Was it the same way with her and Damian? Yet another thing she had to find out before the men returned, but she wouldn't take such a jab.
"Damian's wonderful. I'm afraid I've hurt him terribly without meaning to."

Richard shook his head to the offer for clothes for himself. But when it came to Lorey, he seemed to think a moment. "Something that will bring out her eyes...Or that beautiful smile." He smiled himself, glancing away from her for a moment to hide his blush. Though he didn't know her size for the last time he had been with her fora dress, his old friend merely fitted her to one and whipped up a new outfit.
Raquel looked up, smirking a little. "Yea... But it's not really you're fault.." She sighed, glancing back at Damian with a prink of interest. "He still loves you, you know..." She smiled at Lorey, leaning back. "But to be honest dear, who wouldn't? I bet you're a real heart breaker." She winked at her, trying to be a little more casual with the girl she had only just met.

"So, probably stick with greens and blues... gentle colors. And she's rather petite. Is there... any sort of jewelry item you'd like to buy for her? Locket, bracelet? I'd give you all the credit." All the bloody credit. Damian practically seethed at hearing himself say those words.
"Oh, no, no..." Lorey turned pink all over. "No one wanted a girl like me, all rough hands and dirty clothing... I always smelled like bleach and window cleaner." Contradictions in her mind screamed out despite it all. Richard had found her cast away, but he had brought her close in a heartbeat. Maybe that was what made him so different. Where Damian had chased and pursued, Richard had just given her what she needed right away without the show.
"There isn't a day that goes by that doesn't make me feel guilty about him, though..."

Richard thought for a moment before shaking his head. "No..." He said quietly. "Thank you but no...I'd rather find something of particular meaning just for her. Not just a bobble. I really appreciate it though." He said with a truly grateful smile and a pat on the arm.
Raquel wasn't quite sure what to say at this point. She had her opinions, her observations, everything. but they seemed so...out of place. She merely shrugged instead. "You did the right thing for you. That's all he cares about. Trust me." She tried to console, feeling a bit out of character and awkward. She glanced behind her shoulder as if asking Damian to rescue her. She was afraid that any more time with this girl might soften her up or perhaps hug her. In any case, it wasn't what she had signed up for.
