After being led to a table by a server, Emris looked at Terrie with a hidden expression. "Umm...anything that you want to drink?" He asked softly while looking about. "They'll come back here in a minute or two for our orders...and truthfully I have no idea what I really want." He managed trying to sound light hearted.

Terrie held the bag in her lap, not letting go of her mini life-preserver. "Tea would be nice." She said around the menu that she now held up to block her pink face from sight.
"Chicken seems like it might be good." She said, also trying to cheer up but failing, her voice just sounding heavy. "Have you had the chicken?"

"Tea for me as well, please." Stated Emris with a polite smile at the server who looked at the two carefully. Blinking Emris looked towards....well the menu instead of Terrie and nodded, "Yeah...the chicken is always good. Especially when cooked in herbs and such."

Terrie used her menu to nod in reply, and continued searching through. Her ears perked at the desserts. Ah, the so-called 'comfort food.' She should get one of those then. Maybe two, with the way she was feeling at the moment.
"I'll have that then." She said after a while. "And... would like like to split an apple pie?" She peeked her eyes cautiously over the top of the menu, green eyes searching Emris' face for- anything.

"Umm...an apple pie sounds fine." Replied Emris before averting his gaze from Terrie's. His tail flicked as he looked sheepishly at the floor while the server nodded and disappeared into the kitchen to give the order.

Terrie blinked a few times before lowering her head again behind the menu. She didn't need it up anymore, but she wanted something to hide her.
Emris had looked at the ground... was he embarassed by her feelings? She clutched her bag tighter. Great, now he was also embarassed by her! How could they stay friends after this? Would he even want to continue helping with the house anymore?! She needed a deep breath to keep from crying.
"So, what did you order?"

"A bit of roast and potatoes with some other things." Replied Emris taking a peek towards Terrie. What he saw made the foxtaur blink in surprise and some mild amusement. What was she doing with that menu up in front of her face like that? "Umm...Terrie..." He began but was interrupted as the server came back with their drinks.
"Food will be up soon." She stated softly before leaving them alone again.

Giving the server a soft thanks, Terrie pulled her tea to her side of the menu and took a slow sip, letting the warm fluid relax her a bit. "That sounds good too." She said before taking another sip.

"Yeah..." Emris replied before allowing silence to slide around them again and only the occasional soft sound of tea being sipped or the cup being placed down broke through it. After what seemed like an eternity to Emris the server girl came back with two plates full of steaming food.
"Here you go." She placed each one in front of a foxtaur and smiled politely before heading back to get the orders of others who just came in.
Picking up a fork, Emris nodded politely at Terrie. "Well....let's eat." He poked at the roast and tore a piece of and carefully began to slowly eat making sure not to burn himself.

When the food came, Terrie brushed at her eyes and finally set the menu down, hoping her eyes weren't red. "It smells good." She said, pulling a smile from the depths. She filled her mouth with the juicy chick, relieved that her silence had an excuse now.

"It probably tastes just as good too." Emris quickly dived in and stole a piece from Terrie's plate and after swallowing it smiled impishly. "And I was right." He chuckled and was glad that his heart wasn't trying to jump out of his chest at the moment as it had been on the way to the tavern.

Terrie looked in suprise as Emris swiped a bite of her food. His impish smile managed to work a giggle from her, eyes brightening slightly.
She held her own fork in the air and made little jabbing motions toward Emris' plate before diving in and munching on a bit of his own food. She giggled again, her smile becoming a bit more natural. "That's good too." She said around the mouthful.

"Of course." Emris chuckled and looked sheepishly at Terrie glad that he managed to get a giggle and smile. He was about to say more before the server girl came in with their pie.
"Umm...I'll place this here for you two already." She smiled politely and carefully laid the cute small yet enough for two size pie on their table. While she left she whispered something to herself about it being nice to share food.
Blinking at the quick server Emris chuckled softly, "Wow...she's pretty quick on these things."

Terrie looked adoringly at the pie. "Quick." She agreed with a small nod. But, she felt she should finish the rest of what she had. A full meal... She smiled again. Would she even get to the pie? Maybe comfort food was actually anything that filled your stomach? She was feeling a little better now.

"Quick but we can make her wait a bit since it's still steaming hot." Commented Emris as he took another bite of his food leaving the pie untouched. But he soon finished all he wanted of that and then he waited for Terrie to finish her main course as well instead of just eating the pie first.
