Josh took the hug and handshake in stride, smiling a bit now while looking about the room.
"Nice to finally meet you all, too. Godfrey talks about you all a lot."
He noticed he was gripping Godfrey's hand rather tightly still and loosened up a bit, trying to calm himself. It wasn't like this was the end of the world; nothing horrible was going to happen, just awkwardness. And Josh had his fair share of awkward situations in life, he could certainly handle this. He hoped.
"Umm, whatever you want, well... I'm sure Godfrey will show me around after lunch?"

Adela smiled, flouncing out from where she had been standing next to the stairway. "Oh you simply must take a tour. I know you're eager to take a tour of the upstairs. Godfrey's been very eager to show you his bedroom, hasn't he?"
She pressed her lips tightly together but could hardly contain her smile, and flipped her hair back over her shoulder with a casual hand.

Godfrey stuck his tongue out at his sister before he could stop himself. "I just want to show him my Quidditch collection, is all." He retorted, but his cheeks flushed a bit redder anyways.

“Adela, darling, don’t embarrass our guest,” Gilderoy chided in his boisterously loud and cheerful tone, “There will be no bedroom groping before lunch! That includes you, Harry, so run along back to the kitchen now, we shall eat lunch before the grand tour! Can’t adventure on an empty stomach, no you most certainly can’t!”

Harry looked at Gilderoy, raising an eyebrow. "Alright, lunch."
Harry turned, but gave Gilderoy a hard, defiant pinch on the arse. "But you just wait until after." Harry said smugly.
"Help me put out the dishes, would you, Adela?" Harry asked, heading smoothly into the kitchen.

"Papa! gonk " Godfrey said, horrified.
"DAD! gonk " Godfrey had the irrational urge to cover Josh's eyes, so he wouldn't have to see his parents.... acting like his parents. "Did you really have to..???"

Adela smiled widely at her Father's words, and couldn't help but giggle loudly at her Dad's actions. She bit her lower lip to try and control herself, this was just too amusing!
"Sorry, Father." She said, having 'grown out of' the more childish 'Papa.'
She slipped behind Xenophilius and Gilderoy, flouncing off to the kitchen to help her Dad get the food, still giggling lightly to herself. Normally she wasn't quite so.... animated. But when there was a good chance to poke fun at her brother, she couldn't help but take the opportunity. He would have done exactly the same.

Xeno made a noise half-way between a hum and a chuckle, unable to help but be amused at the actions of the others.
"Perhaps we should show young Josh to the back porch so he may be seated?" He said, putting a hand on Gilderoy's shoulder and giving it a small squeeze, reassuring.

Gilderoy appeared to not notice the grasp on his shoulder, his body used to Xeno’s casual touches after weeks of being subjected to them when the pair happened to be close enough. Which was far preferable to his original reaction of flying off the handle and accusing Xeno of “sexual nonsense! in my house! MY HOUSE!”
“Yes, yes, of course!” Gilderoy crowed, “The porch – come now, Joshua, the weather is delightful today!”

Josh was too slow to retaliate to anything that was said, and probably would have just sounded awkward anyway, so he kept his mouth shut, smiling a bit to himself. As if Godfrey just wanted to show him his Quidditch collection. His stomach was starting to calm and he realized that he was, in fact, hungry. Everything smelled like it was going to be delicious; it smelled like the welcome banquet at Hogwarts. Pleasant, warm, homely.
Josh kept gripping Godfrey's hand from his own. Everyone of course seemed nice, but he didn't want to be caught straying very far from Godfrey. "We're going to eat outside?" Josh scratched at his hair, smiling more. It really was a nice day, and Josh couldn't remember ever eating a meal outside before. He had to remember to have a picnic with Godfrey sometime.

“Our family has a number of places where we dine regularly,” boasted Gilderoy loftily. “The porch is just one of them.”

Godfrey nodded at what Gilderoy said, eventually pulling Josh through the fancy glass doors at the back and out onto the grand porch, leading him over to the nearest set table.
"There's over eighty acres here, lots of pleasant places to stop for a bite to eat. I like taking tea in the front garden usually, lunch outside, dinner in the dining room, breakfast in the sitting room or kitchen, snacks in the library, late night snacks in my room...." Godfrey tended to eat an awful lot.
He settled himself down on a bench for now though, patting the bench next to himself to help Josh choose a seat.
"Do you think Dad and Adela need any help bringing out the food?" Godfrey asked suddenly, leaning back to try to peer into the kitchen. The windows were cranked open and soft clinking sounds could be heard within, delicious smells wafting into the air- including the smell of two freshly baked pies that were currently cooling on the windowsill.

"I quite enjoy breakfast in bed." Xeno commented idly as he passed by Gilderoy towards the child's high-chair. "My absolute favourite part is cleaning up all the crumbs afterward."
He secured Roddy into the seat, adjusting the umbrella attached to the top of it to keep most of the sun off of the pale haired baby.

Josh promptly sat down next to Godfrey, very close, so their legs were touching. He was staring off the porch at the expanse of land. Perfectly green grass stretching off into the trees. It seemed almost like a dream, too perfect to be real, like a spell had been cast around the whole place to hide the ugliness of the world. He could understand now why Godfrey was always so happy, upbeat. When you lived in an environment that seemed devoid of anything unpleasant it was hard to be otherwise. Though he knew behind it all even Godfrey's family had had it's problems, even continued to have them. Nobody was perfect.
Josh put his hand on Godfrey's leg, enjoying the warmth of the day and the prospect of some excellent food. "This place is awesome."
