She sat down on his bed, folding her legs up criss-cross. Alice caught the candy bar. But she was no longer hungry. Her curiosity about this boy was getting to hard to bare. The son of one of the most aggressive clans was anti-war? It didn't make any sense. Yet, she admired it. His will to go against his own clan like that. She looked up to see a mischievous grin playing across his lips. "Your secret is safe with me." She said with a small giggle. What am I thinking?! He is a vampire!!!A vampire!!!!! Just a few minutes ago he was ready to drink me dry!! She internally scolded herself. But she couldn't help it. Vampire or not, something about this boy intrigued her.

"One last question, the very last," Syvra whispered in his ear as Jack's hand trailed down her collarbone. "If I do wish to stay, what will that do to your reputation, position, or whatever? I know that elementals don't necessarily like us vampires, but especially the Valcori. What would they do to you if they found out we were, seeing each other?"
-------------------------------------------------------------
Cora heard him speak, and her heart ached like Demyx's scar. She remembered that night, but she was actually proud of it, at least, until today.
She'd been very young then, dragged from the lair in her battle clothes that night against her will. She hadn't wanted to fight, never wanted to fight, but when she had been shoved into the middle of the battle and the elements started coming at her, she blacked out. She'd gradually began to resurface, and as she sighed, she heard a cry of pain. Her consciousness whipped into focus, and with her awareness back, she searched for the source of the sound, which seemed to be right in front of her. As Cora's sight and conscious came back into focus, she realized that she was kneeling on the ground, a boy of about 15 draped across her naked thighs. His head and neck were cradled in her hands, and her mouth was on his throat, her fangs just barely keeping from breaking the skin. She recoiled instantly, the cracked blood on her mouth flaking away. His head fell back, but she caught it, and gently, she laid him back down on the ground. He had an immense wound on his face. From my axe, she thought, sadly gazing at the unconscious teenager lying at her feet. I normally cleave a person's head in two, yet he only has a cut that takes away his sight. She was only 13, but she had been forced into hundreds of battles by her convent. But somehow, this was the first time she had been able to regain control of her body before she killed someone. She leaned down and kissed his forehead, stroking his hair and whispering, "You are the first, and hopefully not the last." And with that, she walked away, her boots sinking slightly in the blood-soaked mud.
As Cora came back to the present from the memory of that night, she turned and saw Demyx's face buried in his hands. She finally answered his question after the minutes of reminiscense. "I couldn't kill you. I woke up from the berserker rage right before I would've killed you, and I couldn't take your life away from you consciously. You are," she paused, sad to say it, "You are the only person to have survived my rage because I woke up right before I killed you."

“What would they do?” Jack chuckled lightly. “They could do nothing to me, even if they wanted to.” He kissed Syvra’s lips softly and pulled back to look her in the eyes. “I am not the clan leader, so there is nothing they could say to me anyway. And if I was….” His eyes looked distant for a moment. “If I was, they would not question me.” Jack took his hands away, folding his arms across his bare chest. “I suppose the clan would not like a Valcori at my side, though….” He mused. The thought had not crossed his mind before she mentioned it. He looked up at Syvra, suddenly smiling. “But why let that hold us back? When did we ever listen to reason?” He shook his head, the smile still splayed across his face. “No, it doesn’t matter what they think, it matters what we want.”
------------------------------------------------------------
Demyx stood, his hand wiping away the tears that had spilled across his cheeks. His face was unreadable, back to the way it was before Cora had come along. He turned his back to her, his hand still on his eye. “My death would have been the only favor you have ever done,” He said coldly. “I would have done the job myself, if not for the revenge I felt obliged to exact.” Demyx turned, and in a flash he had pulled Cora from the couch and slammed her against the wall. Tears were in his eyes again as he held her wrists, his chest heaving as his breath came out in shallow pants. The fireplace roared to life, spilling a hot light across his face that lit up his tears and reflected in his eyes. Demyx saw the look of fire in Cora’s eyes, to, and he knew what was happening. His face quickly softened, and he knew that he could never kill her. And yet, despite this knowledge, his hands clenched tighter. “I should kill you. Right here, with my own hands, I should destroy the weapon that killed my family.” He closed his eyes, digging his nails into her skin. The battle rage hidden deep within Cora was surfacing; he could feel it coursing through her. “And I would, if I didn’t love you.” He leaned in and kissed her softly. He felt happy for once as his lips brushed against hers. It was what he had wanted all along, but could not bring himself to do. He knew then that he truly did love her, and that this was how he wanted to die. “Kill me now, Cora, or else I might change my mind,” He whispered, feeling her blood drip down his hand. “Kill me while I’m still happy.”

Syvra smiled. He's right. When has the Valcori or anyone ever been able to control me? She searched Jack's eyes, and whatever she found there, she was satisfied with. She backed away from Jack slowly with a mischievious grin on her face until she felt the bed behind her. Slowly, she sank onto it, looking away and closing her eyes, saying, "Well, Alice, is, how can I say it? Special."
------------------------------------------------------------------
As Cora slammed against the wall with her wrists restrained, she felt her control start to fade. His hands clenched tighter, and she began to feel a strange bloodlust rise within her. But before she blacked out, she heard Demyx say, "...would, if I didn't love you," and she felt his kiss. With a rush, her consciousness came back, and her vision stopped fading and instead went weird and double-visioned. She still had no control, but she could see what was happening. Her berserker side hissed at Demyx. Cora struggled to say something, and to her surprise and delight, she could. "N-n-n-no." Her legs kicked out, sending Demyx crashing to the floor. With lightning speed she'd pushed away from the wall and dived onto Demyx, growling like a feral animal. She held down his wrists just like he'd held hers, drawing some blood. As she leaned over him and drank in the scent of the blood that was pulsing through his neck, she whispered, "Would you really want me to live forever dead inside?" She threw back her head with a snap, her mouth open and her fangs extending a couple inches.

Jack followed Syvra, his face never very far away from hers as she slinked backwards. He hesitated as she sank onto the bed, her motions mischievous and playful as she looked away from him. He could not help but smile when she spoke, his need for the knowledge she possessed was overwhelming. “Special?” He breathed. “How so?” Jack lingered just a small step away, to far for a kiss, but close enough to touch.
---------------------------------------------------------
Cora moved too quickly for Demyx to know what was going on. It was only when his head smacked against the floor did he realized she was already attacking him. He felt the blood spill onto the floor and knew the hunger that pulled at Cora. This would all be over soon, he was sure. But then she spoke, and her words were like a knife to his heart. He had hoped that she did not love him back, but now he knew that they felt the same for each other, and that he had done a terrible thing. I expect her to kill me when I cannot kill her myself. He would not die if it was not too late to save himself. He would do it for Cora’s sake, because in his death he would be killing her too. Demyx struggled against the iron grip that pinned him to the floor, but the hands only clenched tighter, drawing more blood. “Cora, listen to me! No curse can control you.” He scanned her face, desperately searching for any sigh of the peaceful girl he knew. “I’m sorry I did this to you, but I can not take it away. You are stronger then this curse, fight it. Fight it and give me back the Cora I love.” Her knees pressing into his chest made it hard to breath. He found himself unable to say anymore as he fought for air against the pressure on his lungs.

Kye caught Alice staring at him and raised an eyebrow. "What? Do I have something on my face?"
He lifted his hand to feel his face when the door knocked, and a loud voice issued from the other side. "Mr Vegnun, we have reports of you entering this room with a female...is this correct?"

Alice laughed, "No-" but she was cut short by a voice outside the door. Her eyes widened. Her hand flew over her mouth. She could feel panic course through her. Here she was, an elemental in a vampires room. This would look bad for both of them. She glanced at Kye then the window. Contemplating an emergency escape if necessary. "What should we do?" Alice whispered. Already starting to get up.

Kye put a hand on her shoulder to prevent her from getting up and signaled for her to get behind his bed. He was prepared for this to happen, although he didn't exactly expect it to. With a few quick steps, he was at the door, and with a glance at his bed, opened it.
A teacher stood there, with a suspicious look on her face. "You know you aren't supposed to have a member of the opposite sex in your dorm room, Mr. Vegnun."
"I know. I think whoever reported me is trying to set me up, miss. I'd never break the rules, you know." Kye's eyes flashed for a moment, and the teacher 's expression softened.
"Okay. I trust you, Kye. Send my regards to your father, will you?" The teacher left with one last glance, to which Kye waved.
After she was gone, he shut the door and called out, "Hey, it's alright now, I took care of her."

Alice crawled across the bed, and slid between the wall and the edge of the bed. She covered down, listening to Kye reassure the teacher. She waited until Kye gave her the all clear. She stood, walking back over to the center of the room. I guess one of his many female admirers ratted us out.. Alice though to herself. She walked over to the window, it was slightly ajar, the escaping breeze making her shiver. She continued to stare out the window. She knew she shouldn't be there. She was still very weak. Her hands were shaking, and her vision was starting to blur around the edges. "Kye, I should go. My energy is fading." She said facing him now. She didn't want to leave, but her current state was reason enough.

"She has certain qualities that other elementals don't possess," Syvra alluded, sinking back onto the pillows and crossing her legs, making it clear that Jack had to make the next move.
---------------------------------------------------------
On the outside, the berserker looked back down at Demyx's panicked face, laughed at his struggles and pleadings, leaned over and licked the blood from one of his bleeding wrists, brushing her inches long fangs across his skin, taunting him, her normally white glowing eyes glowing red instead. On the inside, Cora struggled to take back control, and she was winning somewhat. She was able to wrench her body off of Demyx, who gasped for air as soon as the weight was removed from his chest. Cora fought the bloodlust, fought the berserker, fought for control. Anyone looking in on the strange scene would've thought she was going crazy. She would jerk her hands away from Demyx, clamp her mouth shut. Her eyes glowed conflictingly, going from red to white and back. Cora finally fell back against the couch, pushed up against it and pinned herself there as best she could. But the bloodlust had to be satisfied. Only one idea entered her mind, and she acted upon it without a thought. She bit her own arm, the fangs so long they went in one side and out the other. She fed off of herself in order to save her love, and as she did, she regained control. Her eyes returned to their normal white glow. Her face lost its evil expression and became tired. Her fangs retracted partially out of her arm, and she collapsed in a dead faint.

Jack raised an eyebrow as Syvra sank back onto his pillows, staring at him expectantly. He crawled onto the bed in front of her with a half smile, his hands propping him up on either side of her body. He looked down at her, his smile growing as he leaned down to kiss her neck. “Syvra, you are taunting me again,” Jack whispered in her ear. “It isn’t kind of you.”
---------------------------------------------------------
Demyx rolled over and pushed himself up, standing on shaky legs as he struggled for breath. He hurried over to Cora, catching her before she could topple off the couch. With a worried glance at her pale figure, he fell back onto the couch, balancing her in his arms. Her body was limp as he pulled her close, wrapping his left arm around her shoulders to hold her in place. His free hand reached out to pluck the bandages that Rose had been using from the table. With gentle fingers he looped it around the gaping holes in her arm, using his mouth to help him tie it off. “Cora?” He called softly, with little hope that she would answer. His hand went to her lips, wiping away the blood that had gathered there.

Syvra licked up his jawline to his ear, and then whispered, "Have you ever heard of an elemental clan called the Crusnik?"
-------------------------------------------------------------
As Demyx caught her, Cora's teeth fully withdrew from her arm and shrunk back into her mouth. She was so weak. Again. But the arm wrapped around her seemed to hold her together, and she was at least safe. She felt him begin to wipe the blood off of her lips, and she tried weakly to push his fingers away. "You don't...don't have to do that," she whispered, "I don't want you to get it on you."

Jack hovered just above Syvra’s body. His face crinkled in thought as she mentioned the Crusnik. “Yes, I know of them. Their clan is very close to mine. They have many water and earth elementals.’ He shook his head slowly, still not understanding why this was important. “So Alice is a Crusnik. What does it matter what clan she comes from?” A thought came to him. “The only significance of the Crusnik is that there is a rumor of Spirits in their bloodline, but that is imposs-” Jack recoiled, moving swiftly from the bed to pace. “Alice….she is not an Earth elemental. She is a Spirit.” His face was stiff as his hand stroked his chin. He was lost in thought, his mind running over a thousand ideas.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Demyx ignored Cora and finished brushing away the last of the blood, wiping the dark liquid onto the side of his jeans. “Don’t worry about it,” He said quietly. “I don’t like these pants anyway.” He put his arm around her waist and was surprised at how different her cold skin felt to his heated touch. “Cora, how do you feel?” He searched her face, his frown deepening in worry.

Syvra was delighted that he had figured it out, but unhappy that Jack had started to pace. She saw his thought process, but she flopped back onto the pillows, extremely sulky.
--------------------------------------------------------
She laughed softly at his weak joke. As he put his arm around her waist, she thought it felt right. "I feel strangely energized and weakened at the same time," she said, trying to comprehend her body. "I fed, but I depleted my own blood supply." She swayed slightly, "It's actually like kinda being high, only not." She smiled, and swayed forward until their foreheads touched. She opened her eyes and they looked straight into his.

Jack took no notice of Syvra’s sulking. “I must find Alice at once,” He mused, talking more to himself then her. “But…how will I find her without speaking to Demyx?” A wicked smile spread across his lips, lighting up his cold eyes. “Rose will help me.” He finally turned to Syvra. “Wait here. When I return, I will have both Alice and another girl. Can you restrain them as they come through the door?”
-------------------------------------
“I’m oddly feeling the same way. Like drugs, only better,” Demyx whispered. His words were only for her. “I have never felt this way before, though. Perhaps you have done this to me.” His right hand went to her cheek, resting there against her soft skin. His left still held her close. Demyx closed his eyes and kissed Cora once softly, and then again with more passion. His mind was telling him that this was wrong, that this was going to get them into trouble, but the stronger pull of his heart overshadowed and thoughts he had. His left arm pulled tighter, making sure there was no space between his body and Cora’s.
----------------------------------------
Rose had heard the commotion in the other room, but she knew better then to disturb Demyx. “If he needed help, he would have asked for it,” she told herself, but there was doubt in her. She remained in her seat near the door, straining to hear and other sounds that would alert her of danger. When a long silence followed, Rose could not help but be worried. “Why is he not speaking anymore?” The thought that Demyx might just be whispering never crossed her mind. The worry for the man she loved was getting to her, and she couldn’t take it anymore. Figuring that Demyx would forgive her uneasy mind, she stood from her chair and moved over to the door. There was still no sound from inside. Rose gently grasped the handle of the door and eased it open. What she saw broke her heart, destroying any hope she had for a relationship between her and the Liceryth leader. There before her was Demyx, a girl held gently but securely in his arms. He said something that Rose could not hear, but she thought she knew what it might be. And then, to her horror, he kissed the young girl with a passion she had known only in her dreams. Rose closed the door without a sound, running to her room where she would collapse on her bed in a fit of sobs. Demyx had not lied to her when he said he did not love her, but he had lied about not being in a relationship for as long as the war was still on. She grabbed the picture frame that held their picture together and tossed it across the room, feeling no satisfaction as it shattered, raining shards of glass onto the floor.
