"I need to know, Kanzec. anything you know. anything those little glowing balls can tell you. he went out of his way to help you. he is conviently showing up at times to help us. this leads me to believe either he's trying to build a false trust, most likely, or that after several decades, centuries, years, however long...seeing young family out here may have triggered some kind of repentive action. helping you to redeem some past failure with his sister, your deceased mother."
He did notice the tightening.
"I want to make sure that I can plan around things to the best of my ability. and right now, I'm sailing blind with this guy. and that's dangerous enough. but if he has some kind of guilt trip or even the opportunity to have one, I need to know. we may go into dangerous sands and places more so that we already are. I don't want to have to sail through these sands again with you injured or the like, and then have an angry black dragon land at my doorstep."

Not to be deterred by that less than enlightening answer, Areesa tried again. "Is that it all it is to you, Bellah? A dream? Although, dreams do come true sometimes, right? And I think Kazzy like like likes you. He feels fuzzy inside, he just doesn't know how to tell you. He's...stupid sometimes, but in the good-bad way like Butthead." No, it didn't occur to the Seon that only specialized people spoke her language.
"For lack of a more proper word for it, yes. Although I'd much rather couple a few times for no coin and just the sheer joy of it, day or night." He nodded happily when she agreed and then waved his hand. "No need, I'll get the cabin boy to do it." Thus grabbing one and sending the message off to Hunter.
"Yes! Exactly. Very good, Sky." There was pleasure to be found in this and she'd always enjoyed training and teaching. She ducked her head modestly but smiled indulgently anyway. "Thank you. And I'd love to teach your brothers as well and we'll find a way to free them, Sky. Then you can help me teach them. But you have to wait for us to find a way that won't include you being hurt or trapped. Okay?" Watching the dragon stash her spoon, she wasn't that slick, and holding out her hand. "Sky. Why do you have that?"

"The Seons aren't all omniscient, despite what you may think. My father's may know things about the past that I don't but his riddles are hard to understand at times, even for me. As for repentance, I highly doubt it. He was close with my mother... and seems to blame my father and I for her death, which is probably why he refuses to stay at Ilindal. He helped me during the battle with Fang but as you already know: the enemy of your enemy is not necessarily your friend." Lips thinning slightly as he watched Hunter, unimpressed with his self-imposed gallantry. "From what I've seen, the rules of the sands are simple. Riders, pirates, rogue dragons alike; you all use each other to fulfill your own means and personal objectives. If you don't know his, you can't do anything about it. I could talk to him again but you probably know better than I that words can be deceiving. Right now, I would suggest you worry about Fang more and concentrate on strategies to defeat or at least avoid him. I know you never underestimate potential enemies, captain, just work with what you already have."

A slight smirk. he'd given away the piece to the puzzle he needed.
"Fang is beyond my scope to best. but I do know more than a few tricks. however, since you also seem to find history fascinating...what do you know about Pirate Jones and the ship called the Burning Prince? And what would you be willing to do, to handle darker sands and more troubled events?"

"He's not stupid persay. He just lives by logic and feelings are hardly anything but logical. Besides...he's not ready to feel something so deep for anyone else yet. His heart still dwells in other places that he won't even let himself venture to." Shifting again uncomfortably with a slight wince, oh yeah pain was starting to settle in now. She was probably going to have trouble sleeping tonight...she usually slept on that side with her face turned into Kaz's chest. Like this marking thing...much as she wanted to believe it meant something on some level she knew it didn't. He'd probably of done with to some other female that needed the favor of extra protection from riders. Speaking of riders..."Areesa...what do you know about rider dragons?"
"Just don't bring anything back to ship Thobias. And you've conned more then enough free women to your bed."Sighing lightly and rubbing a hand at the back of her neck where muscles were bunched in that stressful manner. "I just want out of these salt beds and away from Fang as far and as fast as we can get."
A nod of her head. "Patience." Picking up her bowl and tipping it lightly to drink the juice that was left in the bowl with a satisfied purr sound. But then a guilty look and she set the bowl down, blinking lightly. Uh oh, caught. Pulling the spoon out of her pocket she looked at it, then at Shyrae. "It pretty."

"That's what stupid means to me, Bellah. 'Cause he's lookin' at you and all he thinks about is war and stuff. Sounds stupid to me." Settling to a slight bounce on Jae's shoulder, the Seon quieted for a moment. "They're dragons who have riders." Jae was going to have to be a little more specific in her questioning to pull things out of Areesa.
He chuckled and chuckled her under the chin then turned back to his stew. "Not to worry. I wouldn't flaunt my free women in front of the paying customers. That'd just be rude." Reaching over, rather concerned, he lightly dug his fingers into her shoulders and back to help relieve some of the tension. "I know and I do too. Hunter should have gotten the message and be heading that way. If everything goes right, we'll be there tomorrow morning."
That purr made Shyrae smile and watch her as she carefully kept the juice from spilling or making a mess. Quirking an eyebrow as she admitted why she'd stolen the spoon, Shyrae reached into a runic pocket and pulled out a necklace made with amber and amethyst. "Would you like this instead?"

"Oh." Well then she guessed that he was stupid according to that definition, that's where his mind centered. But that was okay right now, right? "Perhaps, but those are the important things right now. And that's his job as a commander." He was just doing his job...like he always was. What fun moments she used to be able to get out of him were hardly even a thought at all these days. A frown at the information she got...well that was vague. Either Areesa didn't know or didn't want to give up the information. She was afraid to ask too much though. "Are they always light colored?"...realizing that that could be too giving she quickly added in, "I've noticed that their all a tad...pale."
She gave a sigh and slacked against the table and thus the maps some as he started to try and relax her with something other than alcohol. "That's the problem, everything has to go right. We're at least going to need one sail if Hunter is honestly planning on getting my ship back and towing it to proper port. It's a lot of work in such short time and I'd hate to tax the boys like that but...if we don't all pull extra hard in work we're not going to make it this time. I'm not ready to give up the sand seas yet."
Eyes lit up at the shiny jewel infested object that was brought out of nowhere. Nevermind that it indeed had come from nowhere, she was more interested in the sparkle than anything. "Sky can have?" If she was good she supposed. Thusly she obediantly set the spoon on the table and looked expectantly back to Shyrae with a hopeful smile.

Well apparently Hunter had picked up on what he needed and so the personal questions were stopped. What a relief. "Pirate history isn't one of my specialty areas but I've read a few things about it and also overheard the crews talking amongst themselves. Supposedly a legendary ship, captained by a powerful and also unforgiving man who some claim isn't even human, that has the ability to appear out of nowhere. And my job determines that I deal with whatever problems we encounter during this journey." Golden eyes narrowing slightly. "Why do you ask? Are you planning on subjecting us to such trouble in the near future?"

"Now now, don't jump to conclusions. I don't intend anything."
but back to the topic at hand.
"How far would you go, though. would you say, make a deal for you in exchange for something else. a deal that may not be broken very easily if at all."
"And she's a real ship alright. and her captain is as real as myself or gem. I've seen both."
Kanzec was the one on the ship that had the least use combined with the highest honor and gout. otherwise, he'd be picking Caden for this. but Caden isn't the kind that would keep his mouth shut about it. at least around certain people that really didn't need to know.

If Areesa had eyes, she'd be rolling them right now. Bellah fooled herself so easily but the Seon understood more than she let on and tucked her gained information aside to tell Lynnie later. That was her real task anyway, report to her mistress all that had transpired. "Yuppers. It's 'cause of the way they're taken care of. They look kind of bleachy, like a tunic somebody left in the sun too long. That's how ya know it's a rider dragon. Well, that, and they're itsy bitsy teeny tiny. Can't usually use their magics too well, either." Flitting about Jae's head for a moment, she made a noise like she'd just remembered something. "Oh! Oh! They're slippery, too. Water slides right offa 'em."
"They'd be more than happy to do the work and you know it Gem. It's your ship but it's their home just as much as it's mine. None have deserted our crew yet and I hold faith that aside from a few of the less faithful and ones out looking for coin, none will. And if the Claw can't be salvaged, we'll port ourselves for the time it takes to build another. You'll be on the sandseas again, Gem. If I have to saw and hammer every board myself."
Shyrae watched her eyes light up and cling to the sparkled ornament in her hand. It had belonged to her mother but she had another matching one just like it that had been sent from Andal. "Yes, you can." It wasn't to distract her from the spoon but give her an idea of what else was out there. "But you should always ask before you take. Okay, Sky?" Offering the necklace to her. "Keep it to remember me by. I may not be here too much longer."

Yeah that's what she thought and she wish she didn't know these answers that quickly came to her and were quickly formed and answered with little to no investigation. But a blink and a raise of an eyebrow as she shifted uncomfortably again. yeach that wasn't a happy feeling at all. "Slippery? Why are they slippery? That makes no sense. I mean all use dragons' scales are like that...what makes them 'slippery'?"
"You're much more optimistic that I...maybe I just need to sleep this all off. Start fresh in the morning and just try to think that Fang isn't going to use my ship for firewood. b*****d pig of a man." Shaking her head lightly and finishing off her rum. "So...where are we gonna sleep?"
Taking the necklace she was all purrs and such, tail flicking pleasantly. but then a blink at Shyrae. Sky understood at least that. "Leaving?"

He knew better than that. People never mentioned things or proposed situations without actually "intending" something, whatever that may be. Interesting notion that the Burning Prince was actually real though but he filed that information away for self-study later. "You're being very vague, captain Deacon. Deals are made to benefit both parties but they usually involve some sort of sacrifice from both as well. But if you're really making me a proposition, give me real details. To determine how far I would go, I'll need to weigh the pros and cons. In terms you would understand, I dislike sailing blind."

Okay, so not quite as foolish as he might appear to be logically.
"Alright. no ship we have can take the Serpent. the Gale Claw is a mess. We have a route to arrange to get the Claw in full working condition, and possibly deal with Fang, but it's got an unknown and usually very high price. So how far are you willing to go."

This is what Xeke meant when he said she was just as hard to understand as Sylin, wasn't it? Why her language was so difficult for people to grasp, she would never understand. Dragons were slippery when there was nothing to block something from sliding down them. Horns and blades tended to stop things. "They don't have the pointy things other dragons do. On their tales and stuff? You know? Like you."
That was an easy question to answer in his book. He picked her up and strolled up to the deck of the ship, then down a special set of staircases and straight into Hunter's cabin. "You deserve a bed. Whether you sleep in it alone or not is up to you but Hunter will just deal. The other guys are all going to bunk in with Hunter's crew. As for me, that's up to you."
Amber eyes dropped to the table and her slender shoulders rose and fell. "Yeah...maybe. I haven't really decided yet. I miss my home and my parents and there's some things I could take care of back at home. But don't worry, Sky, before I go you'll have plenty of time to say goodbye. And I'll come back, I promise. Okay?"

"Oh you mean that kind of slippery." She was kinda hoping she didn't mean that kind of slippery. "Slippery like me, I get it." Giving a sigh she decided it was best to just stop that line of talk before it got her answers that she didn't want to know at all. Sitting herself up she pushed to standing, holding a hand at her side. "I need to find some more banaging...somewhere." And if she couldn't find actual, she'd just make her own.
"I'll just use you as a mattress and give me a hammock, I'll be fine. I'm not picky and I'm tipsy. I just...want to not cause a fuss and not deal with things right now." She just wanted her home back. Damnable thing...she was going to rip him to pieces or die trying one day.
She titled her head, apparently trying to understand> Goodbyes weren't too bad of a thing to her really, mostly because she didn't understand the value of such things. "Long as visits."
