Tastetheraynbow Heart of the dark flame Hecka Wicked RinoaHeartilly Does anyone here have this issue where the condensation that builds up inside your flute seeps out through the keys and gets all over your lap while you're playing?? XDD I seem to have this problem.. And I don't know how to make it go away. D: It's been like that for as long as I can remember, and it happens to other people sometimes... but not as often as it happens to me. :X I wonder if it's just me and the way I play my fute or if it's my instrument... I'm gonna say it's cuz' I'm a tard. x) But maybe someone here knows haha xD I do... it's so embarrassing. >.< oh gawd i hate that... we were playing just before thanksgiving brake and when i went to put my flute down after playing a song at that condensation stuff got all over my leg and it was seriously cold.... It happens to me almost every day during band class. I don't want to look like an idiot, so I just run my sleave of the keys. When anyone looks at me, I just say my flute is cold. It makes my fingers all wet and slippery when I'm trying to play. I'm sorry, but I have no idea how to fix it. sweatdrop edit: My first post!! yea! grr. playing with wet fingers while marching in the cold is really not fun... i had to do that at our last game

Something is happening to my flute... Is the finish coming off? It is brand new. I only got it last July I think and it is like fogging over is the only way I can describe it. I can't get it off with my polishing rag. It is mostly where my fingers are, but not on all the keys. A bit is on the body too, and a lot on the mouth piece. sad I'm really dissapointed because I liked my old flute, but it was a school instrument and now that I am going to high school I had to buy one... And it is crap.

Today I had to play one of my etudes for All Region Band in front of all the All Region try out-ees. My section leader had played before me and so did another freshman. They weren't so good at the etude our director told us to play. He then asked me to play it and I did better than both of them and got down to the 5th line of the piece before he stopped me.
The funny things are I haven't practiced my All Region music in forever and I'm a freshman. My section leader didn't suck. She just missed a lot of notes and paused a lot. She had a great tone though. The freshman that played before me didn't use enough air and kept pausing as well except she paused less than my section leader. When I played it, I paused a few times, but I pretty much got what I played down.
I hope my section leader doesn't hate me like her and my other section leader hate this one junior flute who is an amazing player. The fact that she plays better than them is why they don't like her.
I just wanted to share that little tale with all you fellow flutes sweatdrop

Uuuuugggghhhh.... The Northwest Mississippi College Symphonic Winds are putting on a concert this Thursday... And I'm freaking out.
I'm the principal flautist. All my solos are great and everything, but I have one teeny problem - my piccolo hasn't come in yet.
Mind you, I do have one... But I bought it last minute for marching season my freshman year of college. Needless to say, it's AMAZING for marching band, but not so great for concert. I can't stand the sound of a resin bodied piccolo in a symphony setting.
So I ordered myself an Emerson Boston Legacy pic - the Grenadilla wooden one, not the Ironwood, and I'm pretty excited. But it still hasn't come in. I'm worried.

Saki_Minamino TwilightDemon Does anyone know if the brand Venus is a good brand? I want to buy a piccolo from that company but I don't think its one of those brands that can compeit against armstrong or yamaha. I want to first check before buying it. Help please! I have two Piccolos one is Armstrong and the other is a gemeinhardt. All i know is that my friend has a venus Piccolo and it's alright but it doesn't sound as good as an Armstrong or a Gemeinhardt. I wouldn't recommend an off-brand piccolo of any sort. I've played on nearly every brand of pic, and to be honest, the Venus didn't impress me in the least.
It really depends on what kind of pic you're looking for - metal, resin ABS, or wooden. If you're looking for something for just marching band, a Yamaha YPC-32 is an EXCELLENT pic. It might be a bit pricey, but you can find a good used one for a decent price.
I personally wouldn't recomment an all metal pic - they're just too shrill for my likes, even the Haynes and Yamaha's.
Like I said, it just really depends on what you're looking for.

I had my Eastern Region audition yesterday =/ I didn't do so good, I dropped 70 points from last year.
That's the only issue I have with the flute; it's so competitive!

Ahh... I love my flute dearly, but I love my piccolo more. D: My flute is rebellious; it likes doing its own thing, I guess. It's terribly sharp, which bugs the crap out of me, because I have to pull my head joint almost all the way out to balance with the rest of the section. (Then again, we're never in tune.) My piccolo... I just started this year, and I love it already. Most people call it an ear-shattering terror, but I call it the best thing that's ever happened to me. biggrin

It's funny, we have nine female flute players, a pic, making ten in the front row. But in the back row, we have 8 trombones, 3 of which are girls. =] They are sahwheeeet.
