Keegan ignored the highly-irritating screeches of his Skarmory as he caught up with the Charizard and Flygon, looking back over his shoulder and doing a double-take as he saw a second Flygon rocketing towards the group of fliers, Kasiya and Sasha serving as its riders. He wasn't sure which of the two girls it belonged to, but if he had to judge by the terrified expression on Sasha's face (and the way she was grabbing onto Kasiya for dear life) he'd wager that the Flygon wasn't Sasha's. Other than the fact that she was being squeezed rather tightly by the pink-haired girl, Kasiya looked rather confident and comfortable astride the Mystic Pokemon, but Keegan had no idea how such a creature could have come into her possession. Where in the hell does that girl keep getting all these new Pokemon? he thought, realizing that she had a new Pokemon or two nearly every time he saw her, though like Mike, he knew there was no way she could have just found a fully-evolved Flygon roaming around in the wild. Even its pre-evolved form, Vibrava, was quite rare, but he knew it was pointless trying to ask about it now. He did feel like the odd one out, being the only trainer without a dragon to fly on, but the envious feeling didn't last for long. Perhaps someday he'd find himself a less temperamental flier, but for now he was stuck with the Skarmory.
=====
Miharu's gaze also temporarily shifted over to Sam, and she blinked a few times, wondering why her new friend looked so... bashful. It wasn't like the bandanna guy was trying to hit on them or anything, he'd simply asked for directions. She looked back at him as a small, yellow head poked out of his bag, and she smiled at the sight of the Pikachu. "Hello to you too," she said, looking up as an obnoxiously loud voice was suddenly shouting in their direction.

"HEY! ARE YOU GUYS POKEMON TRAINERS!? WANNA BATTLE, MAYBE!?" The owner of the voice was a boy, again older than Miharu and Sam, with longish red hair that appeared to be in desperate need of a trim. She glanced to the Quilava perched on his shoulder, not entirely sure the little Fire-type was interested in battling at the moment as she'd snatched the boy's fries for herself. It was then that she caught sight of another boy with dark hair and a grey jacket. He seemed a little more subdued than his friend, but Miharu couldn't help but wonder where all these people were suddenly coming from.

She stepped forward, wearing a rather serious expression as she eyed the red-haired boy and his fry-eating Quilava. She didn't know about Sam, or their new bandanna-clad acquaintance, but she'd be happy to battle. "Certainly, I'd love to," she said, taking a PokeBall from her belt and holding it up. "Though we could always make this interesting and have a double battle. Us versus you guys," she said, motioning between her and Sam, and then the red and black-haired boys. "That is, if it's okay with you," she added, looking to Sam and Jasper respectively.

Ditto, finding it rather amusing that no one (but Jasper) could tell him apart from a real Pikachu, decided to keep up his electric-rodent-facade and he scrambled out of Jasper's messenger bag and up onto his trainer's head. "Pikaa!" he cheered cutely, waving at the girl that had said hello to him. Jasper rolled his eyes, as Ditto had always liked flirting with pretty girls.

Jasper looked up as well as two new people joined the trio, and he'd opened his mouth to decline the offer of a battle, but snapped it shut again as the green-haired girl had spoken up first, suggesting they make the battle more 'interesting' by turning it into a double battle. This thought intrigued Jasper, as he'd never seen a double battle before, and he smiled, and nodded at the girl. "Yeah, that's fine with me, I'm not much into battling yet, anyway. I need to get myself a Pokedex from Professor Elm before I start battling seriously. Helps if you know your Pokemon's attacks and whatnot. But I'd love to be a spectator. My name's Jasper, by the way," he added as an afterthought, choosing to be the first to start introductions. Ditto-chu nodded excitedly from his perch atop Jasper's head. Even though he was quite anxious to start battling and getting stronger, he was far more interested in watching other Pokemon battle for now so that he could pick up on their movements and attack execution.

Peine navigated through the big city, following the Saffron Nurse’s instructions on how to get to the train station. It took him about ten minutes to finally get there, with some wrong turns and small stops taking up a bit of time. As he walked into the train station, he saw a couple other trainers with their Pokémon out, getting ready to go onto the train. Peine went up to the front desk and handed the person that attended it the ticket that Oak gave him. “I’d like to go to Goldenrod City on the earliest train to that destination please.”

“It actually just left, you will have to wait an hour for your trip,” the attendant said as he punched the ticket.

“Ugh…fine…thank you sir,” Peine said in a sarcastic, pissed off voice as he took the punched ticket and walked to the waiting area. “This sucks, now I have to wait alone for an hour, it would be so much better if I was able to travel with some other people…” Peine took out Sel’s ball and sent the Sharp Claw Pokémon out. “At least I have you buddy,” Peine said with a smile on.

“Sel!!”

The walk to the city wasn't long at all, there was the trip through the small cave and then another short walk and they were back into the big city of Jubilife. The whole trip there Robin talked about everything and nothing to the young boy who was watching her like a hawk to make sure she didn't escape. "I have to change really quick all right. You can come if you want." Robin explained as they headed over to the pokemon center.

"You better believe I am coming so! I can't wait have you running away." Joe seemed pretty adamant that Robin was going to run away.

"I am not going to run away." The redhead chided good naturedly. Still Joe followed her into the pokemon center and then into the womans locker room as she gathered her things. "Heh, you aren't supposed to be in here. Look if you are really going to follow me let's go change somewhere that Nurse Joy won't kick you out of the pokemon center for ok?" Robin asked with a smile as they headed back out. Walking over to one of the single restrooms Robin stepped inside and held the door open for Joe to follow her inside. When he was inside Robin shut the door and locked it before putting her stuff, and the still sleeping Black*Star in the sink. "I hope I will get to battle you Joe, if your this serious about battling other trainers it must show in your work." Robin commented as she started to strip down.

It seemed like at the moment Robin's bikini top Joe seemed to realize that he was stuck in a room with a mostly naked somewhat attractive young woman. A deep blush seemed to cross his face as he glanced over at her and then back down to the floor. "Ah, heh, yeah... umm... I have had a pokemon that I trained with for a while before I became a trainer. I wasn't allowed to battle others before yesterday though."

"Oh thats fun. I used to have an Aipom who I played with before I became a trainer. He's an Ambipom now though, I can't wait to see him again to show him how strong our teammates have become." Robin spoke easily as she did her best to rebind her chest. "Ah could you help me out here? I can't seem to get it for some reason." Robin muttered as she fiddled with it some more. It had been so easy that morning!

Joe jumped slightly when Robin asked him that and if it was possible he blushed even harder. "Ah o-okay." He tentatively reached up and started to help the older girl. "Is that ok? Not to tight?" He asked pretty sure he was the only kid in his class that had ever gotten to touch an older girls chest before.

"Ah could you pull it a little tighter? Its supposed to be pretty tight. Ah there we go!" Robin said as they managed to get it right between the two of them. "All right then the rest is easy." She grinned as she slipped on the rest of her training outfit. Putting some sneakers on she grinned up at the still furiously blushing Joe before getting up. "All right lets see what my master says about that training battle." With that said she and Joe left the bathroom with the still sleeping Black*Star in Robin's arms. Dropping off her stuff again they headed back out Robin leading the way.

If anyone was thinking that Roark was having a good day they would be sadly mistaken. He had been woken up absurdly early by a trainer, and it seemed like nothing else could be run around him without his input. Now that he was finally having a chance to relax in his gym there was a new challenger, though this one didn't seem as rude as the one this morning. Not able to help it the normally calm rock pokemon trainer growled slightly and got up from the rock he was sitting on. "I'm up here!" He called down to the blond boy who had just entered. "You are here for a gym battle huh? Well I Roark of Oreburg City gym will take you on." He was in a bit of a foul mood and he knew he shouldn't take it out on this trainer but he was.

Riza arrived at the salon with plenty of time before her appointment was set to begin. As she looked around she noticed several people were also getting their Pokemon worked on, and that gave her an idea. "Excuse me, but would I be able to get my Pokemon groomed here as well?" she asked once she'd been seated.

"Of course, her we specialize in making both trainers and their Pokemon shine by enhancing all their natural features. We offer discounts for coordinators and their Pokemon," the stylist said cheerfully as she draped a smock over Riza.

"Oh, that sounds great," Riza nodded. "I think I'll do just that then."

"Excellent. We just need to see your Contest Pass to verify." Riza nodded and removed it from her bag. "Ah, alright, Miss Harding. I assume you're participating in this evening's contest?"

"Yes," Riza nodded. "And I intend to win, too." Her tone wasn't smug or arrogant, just confident.

The stylist smiled as she handed Riza back her pass. "Well then, I wish you the best of luck. Now which Pokemon would you like to have groomed?"

The bird keeper's Pokemon appeared a split second before Katie's did, revealing a Chatot an a Hoothoot. Both looked energetic and eager to battle, as did Katie's, even though she felt a little bad for her choices. Kord and Miles appeared together, landing on the ground with light, graceful steps. The Elekid and Buizel exchanged grins and nodded, looking towards their feathery competition eagerly. Alexandra decided to take the first move. "Double Peck attack!" she called, and both flying-type Pokemon sped forward, using their wings to give themselves an added speed boost.

"Dodge, both of you," Katie countered. The two speedy Pokemon nodded and dashed off to opposite sides. Kord found himself facing the Hoothoot while Miles was only a few feet away from the Chatot. "Water Gun, Miles!" Katie called "Kord, Cross Chop!" The Buizel reared back and loosed a blast of water at the Music Note Pokemon, though it gave a taunting chirp as it flew out of the way. The Hoothoot wasn't so lucky though as it was subjected to the double chopping attack from Kord, and it staggered back, its large eyes squeezed shut in pain.

Sam caught Miharu's glance, and looked away, embarassed. She knew Jasper wasn't trying to be charming, but Sam just couldn't very much social interaction at the moment, especially from a boy. Sam smiled tentatively at his Pikachu though, and tilted her head. Something seemed a bit off about it...Maybe it was a shiny Pokemon, that's why Sam felt a subtle difference to the Pikachu. She shrugged and watched as a pair of boys showed up out of nowhere, and one began yelling about battling. Sam felt like sighing, where were all these boys coming from anyways? However, when Miharu mentioned a double battle, and Jasper seemed to have opted out, Sam felt she should step up. She looked at both boys in turn, before taking Star's Pokeball from her bag. The Water/Ground type seemed the obvious choice against the Quilava, though it seemed uninterested in battle at the moment.

"I guess I am up for it. You ready Miharu?" Sam pressed the button on Star's Pokeball, and released the Marshtomp, who sprung forth energized. Ah, to be free again! Sam stowed the Pokeball away, and watched the other boys intently. "What say you?" she asked.

"HEY!" Oh no. "ARE YOU GUYS POKEMON TRAINERS!?" Please stop. "WANNA BATTLE, MAYBE!?" Jett's foot paused in mid-air, and he forced himself to look away from that shiny gym building. Slowly, he stared back at the girls in question, one of which offered the prospect of a double-battle.

The only boy in the trio refused and now the girl produced a-- could it be? A Marshtomp? Jett remembered studying the starters for days when he was offered the choice to pick one, and he thought about what a weird combination the cute Mudkip could evolve into. And, if his type advantages were correct, Cindy was not the choice to use, but Jett had just the thing...

"I'd love to battle," Jett said smoothly, all signs of previous reluctance vanished from his face. His fingers coiled around Aerosmith's Pokeball as he shifted to stand beside the redhead. "I'm Jett, by the way." He tossed the object up and down, before catching it and holding it out to face the girls. His index finger just barely touched the button. "It's nice to meet you!"

Eztli stayed close to Kai as they approached the route back to Canalave City. She didn't trust him or his grip on Adler, the porr kidnapped journalist. As they neared the water, Kai looked to Eztli. His white contacts gave his eyes a dead look.

"Take him," he said gruffly, and shoved Adler off onto Eztli. She caught him tight and held him steady, though at the moment it was unnecessary. Adler simply had no fight left in him. Kai released his Gyarados, and nimbly climbed aboard. Eztli brought Adler forward, but was soon stymied as to how to get him on the dragon. Eztli had a hard enough time getting on it herself. She frowned slightly with concentration as she inched towards the water. Adler suddenly began to tremble and whimper. Eztli tried to ignore him as she focused on boarding the Atrocious Pokemon. Out of nowhere, Adler wrenched free from Eztli's grip, and, off-balance, fell into the water. He immediately froze and began to scream. It was inhuman, primordial fear, and made Eztli's hair stand on end. Kai was quickly loading his dart gun to sedate Adler, but Eztli was faster. In one fluid motion, she released Malinche from her Pokeball and pointed at the screaming man. "Poison Sting," she said quietly, and Malinche, though she gave no sign of hearing the order, complied. Venomous barbs shot from the Gligar's mouth as well as her stinger, and they pricked Adler's skin in a thousand places. Eztli winced. Adler slumped forward, face-down into the water. Eztli hurried forward and brought him out of the water enough for Kai to reach down and help load him up. Eztli then climbed aboard herself, and motioned to Malinche to come closer.

"You did a good job," she told her, a genuine smile on her face. Malinche stared unblinking. Eztli shrugged and recalled her. Malinche would warm up soon enough she supposed. She once more took hold of Adler, who was barely conscious, his head lolling from side to side. Kai snorted at the man's weakness.

"Hydrophobic," he sneered. He rummaged around in his own pack before finding an Antidote and administering it. Adler's cheeks flushed with color as his breathing calmed and he stopped trembling. "Hm, muscle relaxant as well. Good combo. Killed two birds with one stone there." He ran a hand through his red hair. "I've received notification from HQ. When you return, you are to report immediately to Boss Andrew, then to Mixcoatl. Now then, you are soaked. Change out of that uniform." He turned away from her, and Eztli couldn't help smiling as she pulled her normal outfit out of her backpack. Kai may be a sadistic monster, but he was still human. She changed quickly, and then took out Malinche's Pokeball, rolling it around in her hands. She wanted to release the Gligar, to bond with the distant Pokemon, but she was afraid Malinche would fly away. Perhaps when they reached HQ. She had heard whisperings of an indoor training field there. Eztli felt strangely confident that she had passed her inital test, and she hated that she felt it had been easy.

'It must run in the family,' she though, dead serious. Inadvertently, she thought of her brother. 'Only in name though,' she reasoned, 'The Kiln workers treated me more like family then he ever did.' Suddenly, Eztli felt homesick. For the Kiln, the Ilex Forest, for the Daycare Center where Tlaloc the Slowpoke waited for her. She remembered John's odd comment the day she had left, about the Aztec war god Huitzilopochtli wanting "Blood". Well, Eztli was certainly embroiled in a war now. A war to stay the optimistic person she had always been, and not become broken like Mix or corrupted like Kai.

======

Mixcoatl had been flying for hours on his Charizard Quetzal's back. It was extremely relaxing, even if he was still inside a massive prison. He craned his neck upwards. The skyscraper towered over him, giving the appearance of night.

"Now if only there were stars," he whispered. He patted Quetzal's head. He looked past the Charizard's head and saw he was level with the old entrance to the building. All he had to do was fly right through those doors and be free....but he wouldn't. He was too much of a coward, too afraid of what Doulos might do to Eztli or to him. He had had no word of his sister's fate since she had left for her initiation hours ago. He prayed that she would come out of this unscathed, in mind and in body. "She's only 15, after all. How dare they scar like this," he muttered to himself.

"MALINAL." The voice was toneless, but so loud it reverberated up and down the old tower. Mix squinted downward. A young man stood at attention on the ground, watching the large Fire Lizard. Mix, even from afar, could recognize Doulos training for children when he saw it. Only a few children had been with Doulos from an early age. Mix had Quetzal angle downward, and he landed softly next to the teenager, who was no older then Eztli.

"Jacob," Mix said, matching the toneless quality in the other's voice. Jacob had been with Doulos for ten years. A rare compassionate agent had found the 5-year old boy standing over his dead mother, no regrent in his eyes as held a syringe that had previously held morphine. The boy had filled the syringe with air, and with skill he had learned from his mother, injected her veins with the air, causing an air bubble to form and confuse the brain into thinking that the woman's circulation was failing. She had died gasping for breath. Under the guide of talent, the agent had brought Jacob in for testing, where he passed with flying colors, much to everyone's surprise. He was immediately placed into basic schooling, learning topics a 5th-grader would learn, and weapons training. His weapon of preference was still a syringe. Mixcoatl had been his teacher briefly when the boy was young, and needed to learn how to use fire as a cleansing tool. Mix had been a little frightened by the kid who studiously set so many fires on the Training Field with absolute disregard to anyone's safety. Mix's heart ached to see the boy again, still as brainwashed as ever.

"Malinal," Jacob repeated, though softer this time. It was customary for students to call teachers by simply their last names, but for some it reason it irked Mix to hear Jacob call him that.

"Please, Jacob, its Mixcoatl. I haven't your teacher in years." Jacob ignored him.

"Malinal, I have been sent to inform of your sister's success. From preliminary reports, two blazes were doused quickly in Jubilife City, with the only damage being to a certain journalist's office and home. Police are now searching for the man, who is MIA and is a suspect in both cases." Jacob smiled coldly. "Kai has said he and Eztli are returning now, with Adler in hand. Passing the test seems likely. You are to be her handler from now on." Jacob spun on his heel, and strode away, leaving Mixcoatl staring after him, mouth agape.

Cindy watched with mild interest as the green haired girl accepted her overly excited trainer’s challenge, adding the stipulation of a double battle. The kid with the bandanna seemed to have opted out, leaving another brown haired girl to accept the final place on the enemy team. After dragging out another fry, she glanced back at Jett, who, surprisingly, didn’t look like he wanted to punch Scarlet in the face.

Scarlet, in the mean time, put on his battle face. He shut his eyes, pumping a fist into the sky with a rather thrilled grin. “Yeah! Awesome! Double battle! Never done that one before! You ready, Cindy-”

“Quil,” Cindy interjected, nodding to her fries.

“Ugh. Seriously?” He frowned, grabbing the only occupied pokeball he had. “Fine. Terumi’ll do, if you wanna be like that.” Scarlet tapped the button on the sphere’s center. He tossed it in the air above him, a mass of purple haze flowing out, just before the ball fell back into his hand.

The haze hovered onto the battlefield, before most of it condensed into a jet black sphere of malice and hatred known as Terumi, Scarlet’s Gastly.

Wow. What an awful, awful noise. Ghos staggered back (or the floating gas-ball equivalent, anyway), absolutely hating this battle so far. Leon sighed a little, but wasn't too worried. Sure, the sandstorm was annoying, but he was certain that Ghos could pull through it.

"Use your Night Shade attack," Leon called over the sandstorm to his Pokémon. It may have usually been a bit difficult to see his opponent through the storm, but seeing as how said opponent was a bazillion-foot long rock snake, it was actually still fairly easy to locate the Onix. If successful, Onix would suddenly see a mirage that made it seem as if Ghos was getting larger, and probably scarier, too. It would only do damage equal to the rock snake's level, but it was still damage, nonetheless.

"I can't do it, Raticate," Train barely managed to whisper, now standing completely still. She had found herself unable to move any further into the darkness. She felt so far away from the lights of street lamps, and the Pokémon Center, although in realty she was probably just a few feet or so away from it.

"Raticate…?" Train asked, but didn't hear anything except for her own, shuddered breathing. Her eyes had widened quite a bit, and she was staring fearfully into the dark, wanting to turn around and bolt back to the area that was actually lit, but finding herself frozen to the spot. She took a gulp of air and tried to hold back the tears that were forming, feeling like and idiot.

She let out a tiny gasp as she heard a movement, and tucked her arms in tightly against her, hands balled into fists and almost touching her chin as she tried to force herself to take at least a small step backwards. She obviously should have fumbled for another PokéBall, but the girl was terrified out of her mind, and thus wasn't thinking straight. Just as she was managing to actually lift her foot, there was suddenly something behind her, and, just as quickly, around her.

"You were probably thinking of doing some late night training for the contest, huh?" A voice said as Train's breath caught in her throat, and tears began to form at the corners of her eyes.

"I-I was just feeding her," She stammared, barely able to force the words out past the burning lump in her throat. "I-I'm not--part of the--contest."

"Oh, yeah right," The man said. "But you're not gonna get to be part of it anyway, because we're gonna be taking that pretty little Oddish of yours.

"N--" Train started to say, but couldn't get the word out. She suddenly began thrashing frantically, kicking and squirming and doing everything she could to try and loosen her capture's grip on her.

"Help me!" She yelled, followed by a very loud scream (and a rather boyish one, actually). The man tugged her arms forcefully, sending a very sharp jolt of pain through the girl that resulted in an almost blood-curdling scream being released from her. She continued thrashing her legs, hoping to actually hit the man in a way that would make him let go of her, but it appeared to be of no avail.

Ryka watched as Sunfire ran away from the Thundershock attack at blinding speed. "Wow, that's fast.." But just like with Swift, another fast attack should be able to balance the playing field. Dramatically pointing towards the speeding Flareon, Ryka commanded "Blitz, you use Quick Attack too!"

Quickly transitioning from Thundershock to Quick Attack, Blitz's fur still cackled with sparks as he began to run. But instead of running away from Sunfire, Blitz sped headstrong towards his opponent. The two were like white hot bullet trains ready to collide, their tracks showing no signs of possible turns.

Amy had long fallen into a sort of trance, sitting in the PokeCenter while feeling quite restless. The contest seemed so close, yet so far away to her. I guess time always passes by slower when you're waiting for something, the girl thought with a small smile. She needed to cool down anyways; she wouldn't go into that contest until she was absolutely sure and ready. Confidence is key, right?

It was the sound of those automatic doors parting and the sound of little paws scattering across tiled floors that caught the girl's attention. She looked curiously at a Rattata, scurrying away from apparently its owner. The older man stomped after it angrily, his face as red as a Charmander's Ember. "Come back here!" he screeched, cornering the tiny, purple Pokemon. "Don't you ever do that again!"

It must be a rebellious little thing... Amy thought, blinking some. Then, she adjusted her glasses and focused on the Rattata. Was that red in its fur? Her heart began to race, but otherwise her face and limbs seemed to be calm as she strolled right up to the man. "Excuse me," she murmured, peering further at the Rattata while the man turned to her. That was definitely blood in its fur. "Did you hurt this Pokemon?"

"How I discipline how Pokemon is none of your business," the man hissed angrily. Amy felt something boil within her veins, but her expression remained stoic. She gently knelt down to the trembling Rattata and gently picked it up. Ignoring the man's demands to knowing what she was doing, Amy carried it over to the counter and placed it there. The kindly nurse didn't say a word, either remaining tactful or fearful of the look in both the girl's and the man's eyes.

Suddenly, there was a hand on Amy's arm and it was squeezing hard. She didn't flinch, but she didn't look up to the man. "I'll take my Pokemon back, thank you," he said to Nurse Joy, who looked back to them. "We have some serious training to do."

"Heal it, please," Amy murmured with a trembling voice. She looked up to the man, who had opened his mouth to yell something, but he was promptly stunned into silence by the glare he received. The coordinator's eyes were ice, and her lips were set in a thin line; she was too angry for words.

"He needs to be strong," the man grumbled, shaking his head some. "As strong as the rest of my team." Something snapped within Amy and she seized his hand, shoving it off.

"Let's see how strong the rest of your team is," Amethyst Maple growled, seizing a Pokeball, "with a pathetic trainer like you."
PostPosted: Sat Nov 06, 2010 10:38 pm

"All right, brat," the man said, walking towards to the door. Amy followed him without a word, trying not to say something to stupid. She just had to focus on the battle and show this jerk what kindness can do for a Pokemon.

The fresh air felt good on her flushed cheeks, and the setting sun held promise for the night and contest to come. But all she was focused on was the man, who let out a Spearow. He sneered at Amy, and she frowned as she called out Marshall.

"Woop, woop!" Marshall was ready for this! He had been training! And he was ready to attack on his own in case Amy froze up agai--

"Water Gun, Marshall," Amy commanded with a solid tone. Marshall's grin only widened, unaware of the situation at hand, but glad she wasn't afraid anymore. Maybe they would win!

The Wooper leapt forward and released a steady jet of water at the Spearow, which only squawked and tried to fly away. It only managed to gain a few feet before Marshall's attack ended, and its master called out for a Pursuit. The bird's beak turned dark and it swooped for the Water Fish-Pokemon.

"Leap up and smack it away!" Marshall let out a cheerful woop and pounced at the Spearow, flipping once and smacking the head with his little blue tail. Spearow divebombed and nearly crashed into the ground, but shakily kept himself up. "Water Gun! Aim for the wings!" Marshall landed and turned, waddling after the Tiny Bird-Pokemon, thoroughly soaking its wings.

"What's wrong with you!?" the man exploded, fists flailing uselessly in the air. "You need to start dodging! Fury Attack! Make it hit!" Spearow let out a wavering cry, giving its master a wary glance before turning and swooping once more for the pesky little Wooper.

"Woopah!" Marshall tried to backpedal, but he only stumbled and received three swift pecks from the Spearow. He shook his head rapidly; that stung quite a bit! The next Water Gun was easily dodged after Spearow spun and flew right above Marshall, who got a Peck right to the head.

"Crap," Amy hissed, not sure of what to do. It was hard to nail down anything that flew like that... but it didn't really have the grace of something like a Pidgey... The Normal/Flying-type just circled the battlefield now. "Marshall! Jump and use the Water Gun to boost you higher! Do that thing you practiced earlier!"

Marshall's grin impossibly widened and he leapt as high as he could. He faced the ground now and let out a steady stream of water, sending higher above the Spearow. Those little black eyes kept focus of the confused bird and its confused trainer. And they got closer and closer and closer...

Bam! Marshall landed happily on the Spearow, eliciting a thoroughly surprised squawk as they crashed into the ground. Marshall tumbled forward, turning to the fatigued bird and letting out his loudest "Woopah!" yet.

"Get up!" the trainer screeched, but Spearow gave him a defiant glare and let his head flop down. The battle was done, or at least, Spearow was done fighting. Amy and Marshall had become victorious for round one.

“All aboard for Goldenrod,” the conductor of the Magnet Train yelled as Peine and Sel got up and went from the platform to the train. “Kid, you have to put your Pokemon away, they aren’t allowed outside of their pokeballs on the train unless you have a special reason,” the conductor said, standing between Peine and entrance to the train.

“Ugh…you heard him Sel, back in the ball,” Peine said as he returned Sel to her pokeball. “Excuse me, but I need to be on this train,” Peine said as he pushed the conductor out of the way and entered the train. After a couple minutes, Peine found a free seat and the train started to move. The time of arrival for Goldenrod was in about an hour, and the train would stay in Goldenrod due to this being the last stop of the day.

After thirty minutes, Peine’s hunger finally got the best of him. Having not eaten since dinner last night and being around that time same time right now, along with all the travelling he had done today, Peine was starved. The boy walked to the eating cart of the train and sat down at a table. A waitress soon came over to him. “What could I get you sweetie?” she said in a calm voice.

“A burger and a bottle of soda pop would be nice,” Peine said with an innocent look on his face. He knew that women loved the “lonely, innocent, new trainer thing. “How much would that be??” Peine asked, taking out his wallet.

The waitress leaned down and whispered in Peine’s ear, “For you, it’s on me, but don’t tell anyone.” The waitress winked at Peine and then walked over to the kitchen. Peine leaned back in his chair with a smirk on his face.

‘Works every time!’

After ten minutes, the waitress finally came back with Peine’s food. “Enjoy!” she said with a smile as she gave the young trainer his meal.

“Will do!” Peine said as I started to eat the burger.

After eating the burger for quite a while, a man came up to Peine and patted him on the back. “Good burger, huh?” He asked in a calm, cool voice. Peine finished chewing, put the burger down, and looked up at the man. He was wearing a black suit with a whitish-grey trenchcoat over it, unbuttoned. On top of his medium length brown hair was a black fedora, and on his right wrist was a nice, expensive looking watch.

“Um…ya…it is a good burger. The soda pop is pretty tasty too,” Peine said as he took a sip of his soda.

The man sat down at the table Peine was sitting at. “You’re a trainer I’m guessing, right?”

“Yes, I just started my journey today. I’m going to Jhoto so I can help Professor Elm with his research,” Peine stated to the man. ‘Why is this guy interested in me?’

“I remember when I was on my first day of training. I went to Oak for my Pokedex. He ended up also giving me a Pokemon he was studying too. Ah…those were the days. So what’s your name kid?”

“Peine Mononoke, yours?”

“They call me Gabriel Tamarrow kid. Nice to meet ‘cha!” Gabe said as he held out his hand for it to be shaken. Peine shook the man’s hand and then got back to his burger, taking two more bites and finally finishing it. “So Peine, do you have any way of contacting home?”

“No, I don’t. Oak told me to get a cell phone, but I don’t think I have the money for one.” Peine said. Even after his victory on Route Six, the trainer he beat was also new and very poor, so he didn’t get much out of it.

“Here, this is a new phone that Sliph Co. is producing. It’s not even out in stores yet,” Gabriel said, handing him a phone. “This is a gift for being such a nice kid to an old man like me,” Gabe said with a chuckle.

Peine took the phone, as a smile came onto his face. “Wow, thanks!!” Peine said as he received the phone from the man.

“It’s time for me to get back to my seat Peine, nice to meet you, and I hope to see you again,” Gabe said as he got up and walked out of the dining car.

Peine, still with a smile on his face, went to the contacts to add Lorelei and Oak. He was surprised when a contact was already there. ‘Who’s ‘Godfather’?’ Peine thought, though didn’t think of it to much, and just went onto adding the contacts. When he was finished, the train stopped and it was announced that the passenger’s could depart. Peine got up and headed to the exit of the train.
