And there went Areesa... disappearing off to do her thing again, he had no doubt. He knew where she had blipped off to. "Lycear knows his responsibilities. The people trust him because of that. Any other problems though, he should talk to Kaz directly."
What? He heard his name again. Shifty golden eyes turned to Hunter momentarily, registering his words and immediately got the gears in his mind turning as the ship was mapped out in his mind's eye and potential spacial arrangements were made. It was a good thing, thinking took his mind off the more pressing issues at hand. Like how to get out of this tight space inconspicuously... But eyes back to Gem's first mate and he nodded, hands still gripping his tray, thumb rubbing against its side slowly. "He has more than one, we think. One was used on Jae and the other on me." An intrigued blink though. "Any scientific basis or proof in that legend?"

A little bob as Areesa took leave and Sylin blinked twice. "Other Problems as What? Lycear seems to Think that it is Those Out Here that have the bigger Problem. Why do you think I Come?"
"You miss the point, Guard boy." Shaking her head and proceeding to sulk once more at the table because she could and she figured she was tipsy by this point. Dismissive wave at Hunter though, "Oh they'll be fine. Long as no one tries to pick pockets." Thusly turning her attention back to her first mate and Fire who were discussing superstition. A roll of her eyes, "Pish posh, the important part is that it can be killed. Right? And I wouldn't call Fangy inhuman so much as I would call him a walking plague in the sands. Science? Well..it's a sand squid. There are various sand squids out here."
Jae's eyes opened slightly, squinting some at the rather bright glow of the Seon before her eyes easily adjusted. Well her pupils were back to normal as were other things on her person that had shifted to try and accomodate her. "I'm alright Areesa. Just need some rest and these will heal up fine I'm sure." Giving a pat to her bandaged side. "Where have you been?" The Seons always seemed to be absent from frays.
She blinked as if she was trying to follow what was being said and not really sure if she was getting it. She didn't see the problem here, they could just go home and she's get her brothers from their pen and then come back. Simple. "Back to Riders?" Well, she hadn't liked how they treated her, not they she knew better until recently. "Sky go alone. Sneak."
Savryn was sitting on the railing of the ship as it continued slowly on, fingers scratching at Chylithair as he was perched on her shoulder, eating something or other he had gotten hold of. Well well...this was a change of events. Hopefully they would find some civilization after this...in fact, "Chy...fly far until you find something." Taking a moment to tye a piece of leather with an orb on it around his neck before he took off to the air.

He knew she'd react that way but he had to admit, he believed most of the things talked about the sandsea and creatures that lived within. He even gave slight credence to the Burning Prince, not that he'd let Hunter know that. Every myth was based on some type of truth. His gaze moved to Kaznec and he tilted his head. "Did you kill it?" The stories had never yielded up a way to destroy the beasts, only described them as a powerful weapon against one's enemies.
"Lynnie said so." Bouncing lightly and shining her light on each of the bandaged places just to ensure that it was as Jae said. "With Butthead and Sylin. We was workin' strategy while you guys were fightin' and stuff. You did real good, Bellah. I was like ohhhhh when you got caught but then you thrashed and slashed and got free. Lynnie knew you could do it. She told me so." Bouncing eagerly and flitting between the dragon's horns as if she were pantomiming a battle in progress.
"Yes, back to Riders. If you get caught trying to free those dragons, who knows what they'll do to you, Sky. I don't want you to get hurt but I do want to get your brothers out of there as well as all the other dragons. I'm afraid we won't be able to alone, though, and I don't think Hunter would be very pleased that I even mentioned it." Shaking her head and patting the dragon lightly on the arm. "That's a good idea, Sky, but once you break them free how are you going to get all of them back to the ship? They'll come after you and then we'll all get hurt."

"Personal problems. Kaz isn't the only scarred with memories of the past. If anything, support is the one thing that everyone can always count on."
A momentary pause as the other captain jumped in as well. "Regardless, even the Laerethe seem to be intrigued and somewhat stumped by its... physiology and potential. That in itself is worthy... of further study." Shaking his head though. "Not that I know of... Jae picked hers off and... left it in the sands, I suppose the same happened to mine." That was it though, he had to get out of the cramped galley before his brain turned fully to mush because he couldn't concentrate. Giving a curt nod to them both, he maneuvered back outside into the hull, taking a few deep breaths and then finding Jae again as yellow light flitted around her horns. "Stew and some bread." Taking a seat opposite her, he picked up a bowl and a spoon to hand to her before realizing that she was still attempting to recover her strength. "Should I feed you?"

"Mm, Beloved Laricalu. Seems her Spirit is among us all More these Days. A wound that will never Heal Completely. But enough to Stop the Pain and Bleeding." Bobbing a moment. "Has Obsidian Brother said anything?"
She gave a slightly tipsy laugh and turned her eyes to her first mate. "He's short worded isn't he? And enough talk about these squid things...if Fang has some then he'd not stupid enough to waste them where not needed."
"Strategy hm? You're going to have to share with me sometime. Seeing as that's my job and what not. One should never be arrogant enough to think that they know everything." Shifting again in effort to get comfortable in that nest of her building, but trying not to move too much and promote bleeding. A light laugh at Areesa though, "Did she now? Well I'm glad. Being clumsy wasn't so bad that time now was it?" Her eyes turned to Kaz's familiar voice. He got a soft smile. "No, I can do it myself. You need to eat too." Pushing herself up a little more and taking the bowl and spoon from him. "Made us another nest of sorts, don't think it will be as comfortable as our last one though. I didn't have as much to work with. Have to break it in."
She frowned, obviously understanding the problem and not liking the information that she was being given. It wasn't happy thoughts but she didn't quite yet understand that the Riders were bad for her. They were all that she had known. "They're happy. Sky happy. All happy, no problems. Yes?" That was how she was going to rationalize it. They had all been happy together and they were happy nowadays too.

Fang sat in his cabin, contemplating events. his fingers traced over the pipe he used to smoke, but didn't pick it up. Soon enough his ship would get full repair. the Claw wasn't of any use. she was built for speed, not strength. Not that he wouldn't burn it if given the chance. but estimating the time to do all the interior repairs and such, the support that made the Serpant's hull so strong, would take too much time to be able to get fully repaired and get to the Claw before her captain came back to reclaim her. they could sail now, but thier pace would be comparable to a snail. which is why they were heading for the nearest Rider camp. they had refused his invitation, so he was moving to them. they knew something.
Fang had made many deals with the nomads and dragon riders in his day. and broke about half as many. But the riders knew that it would be far more dangerous to make another enemy, then to gain an uneasy ally.

He stopped and watched as the ship uneasily glided into the little makeshift port before coming to a stop and anchoring. There now they were all ported and would probably be feeling nice and safe now and thus would give him a break as well to rethink things. Why did he have to go and complicate things...and was there anyway to get his nephew away from them.
A look over at the noise from penned dragons and then to what they were looking at. "Hell on the Sands...that's the last person I want in here." She crossed her arms over her chest and shook her head. Walking out from the camp, she threw her hands up over her head, waving them to let him know that she was acknowledging that he was there. And that he better not get too damn close when they had dragons topside.

Caden blinked at the orders that were given him and he sighed before nodding lightly. So quickly he went around some of the people in the room and found an empty seat which he quickly sat in. As he went throughout his meal his mind went about the ship, thinking where it be best to place everyone. There were a few good places he knew of which would be fine but with this many people well he knew for sure it wasn't going to be easy. It was going to be uncomfortable for some time, and everyone better put up with it.

The ship did indeed stop, and a gangplank was lower that Fang stepped down followed closely by two others, both wearing at least two visible weapons. A woman. bah. the Riders were in dire straights to let a woman lead anything, weren't they.
"You had a contingent of yours out on the sands, that came across a battle. I would be interested in speaking with them. also. I want to know anything you might have on any creature that has the talent of multiple shapeshifting."
Hunter went back down, smirking at Gem in her tipsy attitude.
"We're safely docked up. you can stretch your legs, take some time off the ship. we'll probably spend a day here, then go back for the Claw. if we can get any kind of spare wood from around here I suggest we do. we're pretty well covered from both air and sand."

"Multiple shapeshifting? Those are the things of legends and myths long past, Fang." She knew that he didn't like women but she knew she was safe also, she wasn't trying to claim sandseas as her own. She just happened to be in command of this particular camp on this shift. "Markis and Yikin. Yes they reported in as such. Yikin is below tending wounds, but I can fetch Markis is avaliable." Turning and motioning him to follow back toward the camp proper. "Markis, just like you said Fang is making a stop."
He looked up from tending his rather affectionate to him dragon with a smirk. Yup he knew it. Thus why him and Yikin had decided it best just to let Fang come to them. "I got it Alicia. Finish up for me here?" Thusly switching places and standing before Fang. "Looking for repair supplies?"
"I'm sure we can scrounge up wood from somewhere. Or make blackie go cut down trees or something from...somewhere or other. Fang hoards this place, maybe we can find more wrecked ships." Blinking in that 'I'm brilliant' fashion. "Or we can hope the dragons have some damaged scales they want to throw our way. Those are big enough for plating till we reach proper port for true repair."

"That, and the myths and legends of things long past."
turning his attention to the one that had replaced the woman. Markis she'd called him.
"One of the dragons you saw assault my ship, somehow managed to get into a cannonball sized hole, avoid my crew, and come up from below deck in a neutral dragoness form. Obviously you know that even a dragon cannot shrink itself that small, and be able to avoid a crew. a previous encounter led me to believe this dragon was white, but this time it was blue."
"this leads me to the conclusion it's not a dragon, but can shapeshift. and on top of that, do it multiple times in a short span of time. your female called the idea myth and legend. so what legend is this?"

"There was a white dragon there. Maybe you just have your dragons crossed." Wasn't one of theirs, they didn't have any silvers or rather whites out with that particular group." But he looked skeptical to what Fang was saying all the same. "Some rather high thoughts you're throwing around there." Motioning over a passing other. "Take a supply list for Captain Fang here. We'll work out a bargain." Even Fang knew his supplies weren't going to come free.
"I'm not too much of a buff on legends and the like, but the only legends I know on this plane are the Burning Prince, the various sand critters, and the Laerethe. You could say any of those are shapeshifters. If we have any information I suppose we could get it for you from our collective...for the right price of course."

"How about a female dragon egg for all my supplies and my information."
Fang's look didn't even flinch. though he registered names easy enough. Laerethe. that last one was probably it. he certainly knew the legends of the Burning Prince better than these sand rats. As to that dragon. that would be easy. he had eggs, he usually fed them to the squids. not to mention how he got them. Fang was no fool. he knew about Desdemona. and her eggs had not gone unheeded. He should probably thank Captain Deacon for that. although..the interbreeding of dragon and human, if it had produced a viable egg...that might be something interesting to actually see hatch. if the riders could use it.
But they didn't know about Desdemona. Fang only knew about her from a personal run in. he'd just paid attention afterwards. So they wouldn't know where it was from, or if it would even be viable for thier uses. this might be a win/win situation for him.

Raise of an eyebrow and a gesture to the dragons nearby. "One egg to turn into one of those? Come now...you know the prices that we go by. You have substantial damage to your ship and you're looking to get into our very records if need be. As tempting as a dragon's egg is, one isn't going to cut it. Besides it may already be too far gone in development if you've had it in your care. Come now Fang you can do us better than that." Riders were a bold group, and rarely stood down to anyone seeing as yes they did have the force and power to overthrow challengers. Even Fang.

"What if it was something unique. a special dragonic egg that may produce something unlike anything you have encountered as of yet. something decidedly forbidden."
A light smirk.
"Other than that, I have plenty of swag to barter with. I've had to teach a few lessons in manners to certain troublesome atolls in my sands."
