Taiju Senju Lvl. 20 Hp: 460/460 Cp: 150/150 MHp: 300/300 DB: 19 Taiju raised an eyebrow listening to the young Nara. Was this kid actually taking responsibility for actions performed by his team? Really? It was almost unheard of when faced with the possibility of failure. "I would have told you to at least raise the doubts when you were there. You stand here, not asking forgiveness, nor quarter from me. You express your guilt to me with only the future of your comrades, and yet give no thought to your own. However I'm surprised you got in at all..."Man the Nara was depressing. Still, he seemed more capable than Tairu... "For the simple fact that you are willing to be honest and take the blame for your ally’s mistakes shows a lot about you. After all, if you thought about it you are to blame for not speaking up. But they can be blamed just as much for not thinking of it. So perhaps I should give you a new question. Why should I pass you?"Of course Taiju thought of passing the young Nara anyway. He was more mentally sound that Tairu, and he figured the Nara was also more adept at fighting. But this was all discounting the girl, who Taiju would have to talk to separately...

Rhaim continued to stare slightly downward at the shins of the instrutor who had posed such an odd question. There was no way that he could justify passing since he had just admitted to failing to meet the goal of the test. On top of that the teacher had agreed that it was his fault that the makeshift team had taken the wrong statue all the way out there. Logically there was no good reason for the man to ask why the boy should be passed since he had failed. Rhaim cocked his head and slowly shrugged his shoulders at a complete loss for words. He stumbled on however since it would do him no good to not take hold of the obvious bone he was being tossed.
"Well sir... I... I think that I can be useful to a team someday. I know that I'm a liability now but I think that in time I can be an asset. And I think that I can gain that best through real world experience instead of more academy lessons. I think maybe I should be passed not because I'm talented now, but because I have potential to be talented later, sir... maybe. I hope."
His eyes did not raise above the waist level of the Chuunin before him, for fear of being caught up in the same intimidation as he had in the beginning of the exams. His hands didn't move from the pockets as his arms hung semi limp from the sockets at the shoulders. The Nara's feet shifted the weight of his body over to his left hand side while his head stayed cocked.
"That and I really don't want to listen to my sisters tease me for failing. Again."

align=center]Taiju Senju Lvl. 20 Hp: 460/460 Cp: 150/150 MHp: 300/300 DB: 19 "You have sisters? Don't tell Yarotai unless you want to be an uncle..." Taiju couldn't help but like this Nara. He had a good head on his shoulders and was realistic. "Well I’m thinking of passing you. You have a good head on your shoulders, and you are willing to admit failure. You can fail and never admit it. The difference is because you understand why you failed, you can learn from it and improve. Everyone who gets to this point has potential. You just have far more than most people. Perhaps more than I do."Taiju wondered how long it would be before the students figured out his game. So far he had beaten Tairu within an inch of his life, and he hadn't seemed to have understood at all. Rhaim would be smarter from what Taiju had seen. "However you should stand tall and proud. If you're on the losing end, you can't show it. Always ask for more punishment even if you don't think you can't take anymore. Don't give people the satisfaction of seeing you in pain or upset. If you have problems with your sisters, then stand up proud to them, and show them that they have no power over you."

Rhaim couldn't help but close his eyes and sigh at the fact that the Senju before him had even suggested standing up to his sisters. Clearly the Chuunin had never been versed in the workings of a Nara household before. It was no matter though since he could at least avoid some of the nagging that was going to recieve. In fact it might be so low as to seem loving in the eyes of the Deer Clan. The child stepped back from Taiju and nodded his head forward in preparation to leave his immediate area and wait on a particularly cozy looking patch of grass for Tenma, the rear security, to catch up. He was caught by a single thought towards the end though.
"Well sir, if that's it I'll wait by the tree for the Hyuuga and Tenma to come back. Um, and who is Yarotai? That sounds like the name of a lecherous old man."

Well now I have to ask you a question Rhaim. If you weren't going to pass, who would be more worthy of passing? Tairu or Tenma?"Taiju really wanted Rhaims opinion on this. The boy was practically a prodigy for kids his age. With any luck he would help him better than Tairu had. Rhaim had a good head and was honest to boot. Maybe Taiju would spar him in order to increase his self esteem. There was no better way to increase a young child's self esteem then by beating him within an inch of his life with his own small intestine.

Rhaim shrugged slightly at the comment about Yarotai being an Academy teacher. So far not a single teacher from the Academy had taught him anything that he knew. Tenma and especially Conan had taught him the better part of the lessons and he had taken it upon himself to learn what few extras he knew. The fact that he was trained by himself and his peers was probably the reason that he was so much weaker. He considered that if he had been properly trained that he would actually be a student worthy of graduating instead of gaining pity through being honest.
The second piece of what the Chuunin had to say caught him off guard almost as much as the previous chance to vouch for himself to pass. Perhaps the exams weren't over after all and he was being tested on loyalty or impartiallity. He leaned back a little at the waist and looked straight up at the sky as if he hoped to see the answer above himself.
"Sir, I'm pretty biased about that. I've known Tenma since I started the Academy and I just learned Tairu's name from you saying it. Tairu would probably win in a fight nine times out of ten. However he's also dangerously overt with how he approaches situations. Tenma works hard and easily carries her own weight. But she didn't do near as much of the leg work during the exam. That being said, I wouldn't have helped those two if she hadn't asked."

Taiju Senju Lvl. 20 Hp: 460/460 Cp: 150/150 MHp: 300/300 DB: 19 Taiju smiled behind his mask, well aware of how to manage this situation. "So what you're telling me is you're in love with this girl Tenma, but you don't want your obviously nosey sisters ruining anything so you pretend that nothing is up. You attempt to distance yourself from everyone so that they can't use it against you and you play the weakling so no one will look at you twice. The Tairu comes along and ruins it all, but to keep up your impartial demeanor you give evidence saying none of you should pass..."Taiju knew he was just going off now, but if there was one think he knew how to do, it was how to get under someone's skin. "You haven't given me a decision yet. I want you to look me in the eyes and tell me who out of the three of you deserves to pass above the other two. If you don't I’ll just fail you. If I wanted to go one step further perhaps I could have all of you banned from ever taking the exam again. Wouldn't that be a funny thing to explain to them?"Of course Taiju left out the fact that the reason they wouldn't be allowed to take it again was because they all passed. But Rhaim didn't need to know that, and it was much more fun trying to get him to squirm.

Rhaim brought his squinting gaze back down to the meet the man speaking for a second time. Though this time he wasn't sure if the guy was stark raving mad or just really unobservant. The only thing that he had gotten right was that everything he had said was to place them all on even ground. He didn't know the other two well enough to say if they were good or bad and the only calibration he had for his own skills were his obviously stronger sisters. There was no way that he could do a fair assessment on the three of them except based on the exam task.
"Sir? You're asking me to decide which one of us did the most on this task, since that's the only thing that I can base passing off of. And to that no one of us did more than the others. We each had our strong and weak points. So I guess I fail since I can't tell you who out of the three of us deserves to pass above the other two. Sorry sir. I'll try harder next semester."
The key was to simply ignore and avoid the entire protion of the rant that still made no sense to the boy. Chances were that he had somehow missed some secret code hidden within the words that he was supposed to decipher. Kind of how he knew that if his sisters were talking about buying new kunai pouches it really meant that they had a date with someone mom didn't approve of. Or worse yet, it was a probe by his sisters to get him to admit to false feelings for Tenma as they had the nights before.

Takeshi's worse nightmare was repeating itself, over and over. Again, his dream started normal, then somehow turned into his burning house, and being paralyze looking at his mother. Now Takeshi, trapped in his mental prison, would have to endure and let this nightmare run its course. Unlike the rest of the nightmare, the ending was always different, from the first time when he was simply watching what had happened through his own eyes, to great exaggerations involving injury and death.
So far, Takeshi was looking upon his mother hanging by a rope around her neck attached to her bedroom ceiling fan, and his house burning and falling apart all around him. Takeshi was paralyzed; he could not move for his limbs were completely numb, and his eyes were wide open, full of tears, transfixed on the sight of his mother's lifeless body. And all around him, burning parts of his house were falling. To Takeshi's mental relief, a wooden support beam, much like the one that brought him to this hell-hole, struck Takeshi's head. Now, instead of seeing his nightmare through his own eyes, Takeshi had an out-of-body experience, watching his dead body fall over sideways onto the ground. It was as if he was a video camera was watching him up close, so that only his head was within view. It was sickening to watch as his eyes stayed wide open, watching Takeshi's out-of-body-body, as blood from the wound on his head dripped down his face, leaving red streaks that gave Takeshi a pinstripe effect.
Takeshi woke up with jolt, his nightmare suddenly over. His body shot forward to where he was leaning forward to quite a degree. He was sweating heavily, as when he leaned forward, several beads of sweat fell from his face immediately. His breathing was heavy, deep, and fast. Takeshi took his right arm and wiped his face of the sweat, and looked up. It seemed he had only gotten ten to twenty minutes of sleep.

Aryza glanced at the Uchiha has he made his way closer to her. She was curious. What did he want? Another thing she found interesting was the sudden change in his expression. It had been so fierce during the fight now it was calm and soothing. If she had maybe been a couple years older she probably would've paid attention to how good looking he was. But the girl hadn't yet starting showing interest in guys.
Hearing him call her name she took a while to reply. "....how do you know my name," she finally was able to mutter.
Kuroi was also curious of this new comer. When the Uchiha opened his hand to the cub he looked at it for a while. Slowly he leaned his head forward and sniffed him. There was a familiar smell that he liked but he couldn't recall what it was. Finally after a few moments the cub wagged his tail and licked Kiyoshi's hand.

Taiju Senju Lvl. 20 Hp: 223/460 Cp: 150/150 MHp: 300/300 DB: 19 Taiju sighed deeply and shook his head. "You've done well up to this point Rhaim. I'm not asking you which one of you did the most. Doing the most doesn't mean that you automatically pass. I'm asking that if you were in my position, and you had to pick one person to definitely pass, one person to definitely fail, and one that was a tossup, who would you pick? I assure you that if you cannot make this decision, you will automatically fail no matter how many times you take this exam. You need to make a decision. Is it really so hard to make a choice? After all just because you make the choice, doesn't mean I’ll agree with it."The young Nara was smart, and infuriating. Taiju was close to beating the answer out of him, but with Kiyoshi nearby, spontaneously attack another student would be pointless. Then again, Taiju was wearing his headbands on his knuckles and wasn't wearing his jacket anymore, not to mention he was beaten up pretty good. Well it didn't matter; he would get an answer out of the Nara one way or another.

Rhaim was a bit dissapointed in himself for jumping to the conclusion that whatever he said was set in stone. It made perfect sense that the procter wasn't going to act upon the words of a mere child alone. He would surely take into account everything that they had and had not done, combined with how the children assessed each other. After all even the Nara knew that he didn't act the same way around those of higher rank as he did around his peers. The sort of advise that Taiju was asking for was simply another dimension of the situation that Rhaim was not fully involved in. He nodded his head slowly at the realization.
"Well sir, then I should definately fail since I sort of expect it anyhow. Tairu should definately pass since he's determined and the Hyuuga have long proven themselves a valuable family in the village. And Tenma should be the toss up since she's so much younger than the rest of us students and is already able to hold her own."
Rhaim lowered his head to stare at the ground at the feet of the Chuunin, somehow satisfied that he had at least failed on his own terms if his words were the deciding factor. In the end he had done everything that he had done and right, wrong, or otherwise there was nothing he could do to change to that. All that was left was to wait for the decision of the large man that had beaten the Hyuuga rather soundly.

Taiju Senju Lvl. 20 Hp: 224/460 Cp: 150/150 MHp: 300/300 DB: 19 Taiju cracked his neck and sighed. "Why the hell are you so set on failing? You aren't giving me reasons for your failure other than the fact that you like being down on yourself. Well listen closely. You're smarter than your other teammates when you put your mind to it, and you don't need to be so damm depressing. You're probably the strongest out of the three of them in all honesty. Give yourself credit where it is due."Taiju hated two kinds of people. People who looked down on other people, and people who looked down on themselves. Right now, Taiju wanted to go to town and beat Rhaim within an inch of his life. But right now he had to show restraint. Killing his students was a good way to end up in prison again. Not that he couldn't just break out, but it wasn't a good idea to get the clan into a frenzy any more than they already were...

Rhaim shrugged his shoulders at the question as to why he was so set on failing. The truth honestly was that it just seemed like the most likely course of events given his performance thus far. He couldn't even begin to imagine that there was even a possibility that he was stronger than both Tenma and the Hyuuga. If that were the case then he could have easily made up for their shortcomings and the task to retrieve the statue would have gone off flawlessly. Or at least that was what being strong was to the boy after watching his sisters advance through their shinobi lives. The only portions that he even saw or perhaps noticed were the victories and proving of power. Due to the extreme difference in the amount of time that Rhaim had learned what being strong and smart were from his sisters and what Taiju seemed to think it was, he was in no position to change his stance on the matter. That however was not what the man wanted to hear.
"Yes sir. I'll work harder on improving myself in that area."
He hoped that a noncommital answer that only adressed his desire to better his own condition was what the Chuunin wanted to hear. Otherwise he was at a complete loss of how to respond. In the end he still believed himself to be the weakest of the three, though he was stronger than when he had started out.

Taiju Senju Lvl. 20 Hp: 225/460 Cp: 150/150 MHp: 300/300 DB: 19 Taiju was getting really close to beating the hell out of Rhaim at this point. He knew that he had to be somewhat tame so he didn't end up in trouble with the village, but this was almost too much. There was only one way to convince people that they were strong, and that was to push them to their very limits. "It's obvious that my words aren't going to convince you of your strength. So I’ll give you a choice. You can fight Tairu, or you can fight me in my weakened state. It's up to you. Regardless of who you fight, I demand that you fight with everything you have. Weapons, Jutsus, dirty tricks... whatever gives you the victory. You fight and win; you'll be that much closer to passing. Do I make myself perfectly clear?"Taiju would turn Rhaim into a fighting machine, even if it killed him to do so.
