mr-miserable does anyone know if gettin a lip piercin will mess with my playin cause i wanna get one on the side of my lip I'm fairly certain it will, but not 100%. You could always try a ring that would just clip around your lip in the place you want it before you get the piercing, just to see how and if it'll effect your playing. It's probably something that you could get use to with time though.

I have a thought on your lip ring question... I agree with Garnetpirate but trying something that just slips on to see if you can play with it in. I also think that if it is over far enough it may not bother you, especially if you go with more of a post while you are playing (or spacer) instead of a ring. That way you don't have as much of a possibility of the piercing interfering with your playing.
Another another note.... HI! I just got accepted into this guild so and then found a thread just for clarinet players!! YAY! Anyway, I've been playing for ...... 17 yrs now. (wow has it really been that long? Huh.) smile

Yay! Hello fellow clarinetist! How are you guysss? And tucker_swisher, I'm in my middle school band! biggrin
I also have a question... My band director told me that I have extremely tiny fingers And they won't completely cover all the holes. Do you guy know anything that may be able to help? If you don't it's okay, I mean I've managed to stay in second and third chair but it's a pain in the neck to play really well sweatdrop

Yes it will mess up your playing. Air will escape through the hole from which the peircing is made. If you keep a ring in there while playing It might help alittle but it would probably hurt alot in the end. I suggest not getting it.

----- I have small fingers but I've had nothing to help with my playing. My worst thing is that both my pinkys only go to the first joint/ring on my ring finger but they should go up to the second. It's made it extreamly hard to play the Eb key. As for the holes you just gotta mash them down and cover them as much as possible it will become more natural the longer you play.

a new clarinet player that took a class during summer school for two weeks whee ... now I'm too busy to do anything else but practice the hardest march known to freshies!! My teacher is apparently evil enough crying
I heart the clarinet! but its freakin hard to get used to and the higher octive is killing me in the march so I've been reduced down to the lower octive for the trio... I'm screwed when testing comes crying

I'm new to the guild, and I've been playing for 3 years now! I'm in 8th grade and finally got a good spot amongst my other clarinteers. I get to play the star spangled banner on September 26 at Bush Stadium for the Cardinals! I'll be joining marching band next year in high school. WoOh!
