Watching the captain wander off, his own attention turned back to his nephew on deck still at the white's side. "Yes I know. It's a sand going creature...not pleasant. More or less leeches quickly off of one's body...can reduce dragons down to the likes of sand lizards in minutes. It's made to weaken fast and then consume. As far as cure...there is no need for a cure for there is no poison in it's bite so to speak. Or barbs rather. She'll be fine in a few hours maybe, certinally by tomorrow...she just needs to let her body get it's strength back is all." Was that clear urgency in his nephew's voice? That was a drawback to all that marking in his opinion....made you vulnerable because you were concerned for your other. Lari learned that the hard way.
She sat herself up a little bit more with a painful cringe or two, but knew not to move so much as to make herself bleed more and thus through bandages. Resting a hand on Kaz's forearm she gave a squeeze and a nod to him, her pupils already returning to rounded shape and the like. "See? This time I will be fine. I just need rest." Despite the obvious need to treat wounds. And she was so so sorry that she was doing it again. Again and again it seemed she was getting into trouble out here and being trouble for him. She was always making him take care of her.
Sylin was always more comfortable with the more information it had. Especially since that was it's job right now. "Good for Son of Lycear if we are Tending It Properly." We meaning of course either the Seons themselves or those around them. "Both of them are Scared and they need not be. Son of Lycear must learn that he can not Predict the Ill in life but Hope for the best when it Comes. Apprentice Strategist must learn where she Belongs despite he Differences."
Sky nodded against Shyrae as she was still hugging her. "Sky doesn't like the noises. Not the normal noises. Too loud, bad smell to the air after." Wrinkling her nose to show her distaste over the matter. "All gone now though, yes? No more noises."
Gem was indeed playing with her food, trying to compensate in her head her loss...she wasn't even a captain anymore. She'd been reduced to carry along crew. It was a plausible fear for any captain reduced as such that their own former crew may look to barb for things done to them. Or change crews for that matter. She didn't feel in any control here even if her perceptions were most likely false. "I like the blowing out of the sands idea. Eye for an eye..." Or rather ship for ship.
But she tossed down her spoon and brushed her hand awya from her face, bracing her hands at her temples and leaning her elbows on the table. "Oh Hunter, I don't want to hear about the Burning Prince. I can't handle that today. Problem is that now Fang has a coordinate on us again and dragons will only protect us for so long...if you can wear down a dragon then you get a shot at what you want. He may even keep after us when we're out of the salt beds." Shaking her head lightly. "He retaliated, I saw him take a chunck out with his tail. Are you honestly trying to suggest that he's in league with Fang now? Fang doesn't work with others."

"I'm calling it as I see it, Captain Nereem. Twice now, that dragon has shown up at just the perfect time. the last time we saw Fang we was on the other side of a damn gorge he couldn't cross. While this is his turf, and he probably knew about the oasis, there's now way even Fang would predict us to take four dragons directly through Rider territory. it's asking for trouble."
Leaning back some.
"That dragon could have done a great deal more damage and you know it if it was inclined to. there's no ship at all that could handle a dragon that size without serious or sinkable damage, especially in conjuncture with two others. Black boy held back. Not to mention, considering his distance, he had to have been close enough that he could have ambushed us at the Oasis. or right after. if he has nothing to worry about with Black boy, then why didn't he try it then? the black being there certainly didn't stop him this time, did it."
lifting his finger up.
"So we have one massive dragon with a habit of showing up exactly when it needs to, like it has a 'ship in troubled water' radar in his head."
another finger.
"Fang finds us with apparently little trouble, is able to sneak up on us. a ship that big shouldn't have been able to out here."
third finger.
"Black boy goes out of his way to get whatever it was fang used on the dragons off Kanzec like a parent trying to put out a fire on their child's clothing, yet doesn't tear the Serpent to kindling for it. You'll notice he didn't lift a claw to Bell who was in the same boat."
Putting his hand back down.
"It just doesn't add up right. I think there's some bargain, some deal struck someplace. Maybe black boy want's Kanzec. Fang wants you. best way to get Kanzec is to get rid of us. thus they are partners out of simple both wanting the same thing. us out of the picture. Fang does what he does, black boy earns Kanzec's trust by 'rescuing' us. when the timings right, the trap gets sprung. Kanzec stays with Black boy, Fang gets to watch the Chimera and the Claw sink and do who the hells knows what to me and you and our crews."

Needless to say Thobias was less than pleased with Hunter's little demonstration and each finger only had a muscle ticking in his jaw since Gem didn't need to hear any of this right now. He cut his eyes at the other captain shook his head. "Black boy, as you so aptly named him, happens to be Kaznec's uncle. So no I don't find it odd that he manages to appear when his nephew is in danger or that he didn't help Jaebelltiah. If you were in the know like you think you are, you might have a better idea of what was going on. If black boy had tried to help Jaebelltiah, Kaznec could have torn him to shreds."
Shaking his head and continuing, "Nor do I find it odd that he didn't choose to irritate Fang more. He happens to be a rogue dragon and has no one but himself for protection. If I left you out alone on the sands with nothing but a loaded pistol, would you shoot the sand worm in a non-fatal place, Hunter? Would you annoy the sand sharks so they could come after you and eat you?" Glaring. "Didn't think so. And will you show some respect? Gem doesn't want to hear about your little conspiracy theories right now. If you mention one more word about this, I'm going to punch you in the face. Fair warning." A little mean, yes, but he protected his captain all the way.
"They have strange weaponry here." Wrapping her arms around Sky, she glanced at Savvy for confirmation or help of some kind and then made a noise of indecision. "I hope so, Sky. I don't want to tell you yes because I don't know for sure. The one who attacked us still lives and my uncle believes that as long as an enemy lives, an attack could easily occur. There is a possibility you'll hear them again."

"I think she does, Thobias."
looking at the Claws first mate.
"I don't care if black is kanzec's long lost twin brother. no one does anything out here without a reason directly related to either self preservation, or to gain an advantage. Kanzec is absolutely no threat what so ever to the black, and everyone knows it. he threw Kanzec around like a damn toy. and he was more then dangerous to the serpent. his flame was hot enough to turn the saltbed into a sheen of black glass. you think that wouldn't decimate wood and metal?"
Hunter silently cocked his pistol in his lap out of sight.
"and if you did leave me in the sands with just a loaded pistol, my first action would be to go to the riders and sell every bit of information I had in exchange for supplies and someplace relatively safe. and you know it. We also know that loyalty to blood means nothing out here. I'd leave my mother to the sand sharks in an instant to protect my ship. and I'd kill my own brother before letting him even punch Mister Richards."
glancing at Gem and thobias.
"All I am saying is don't let your guards down to our black savior. don't trust him, don't let kanzec convince you otherwise, and be ready to shoot him in the eye as to look at him at any given time. Because that commander is that stupid. he's probably ready right now to walk into the jaws of a sand worm if black boy said it'd be safe in there."

Captain Neerem. Was he mocking her or trying to make her feel better? She didn't know which but she wasn't in a reactionary mood anyway so she supposed that it didn't matter then. "Or maybe he knows better than to get too involved and thus bring Fang upon himself. The dragons are big and powerful, but they're certainly not invincible. Maybe he's trailing us because he wants to make sure we get out of his territory and thus he's conveniently always there. And if I have to guess, I'd think Fang is probably part cannibal and would enjoy us as kabobs."
Though she appreciated her first mate's attempts she really had no tolerance for anything right now. She was too worried about mutiny and crew questioning as well as if she was going to get her ship back...she didn't have means to build another from the ground up. "Men, can we please stop? I understand the problem, and that we can't trust him. I never said I did and I know better. I'm a pirate if anyone knows about distrust it's us. But right now I would just like to....get at least out of this mess of current and have myself a drink. Is that too much to ask?" Sighing and shaking her head. "And I hardly think the commander stupid. Logical to a fault yes, but not stupid. He doesn't trust the black either. Now where the hell can a woman get bottle of rum?"
"Long as we're on this boat, there's bound to be more things like that and that's the truth to it all. Happens when you're around those that are hostile and are packing weapons that we are especially not used to. I suggest we just let our ears get used to it." Crossing her arms lightly.
She made a noise of distaste to it all, not sure she was liking any of those answers from either elves. "Sky be brave then." They were just noises and noises couldn't really hurt you right? "Safe to go up now? Sky doesn't like it down here."

"Everything he does, he needs to understand why and how. He needs to know where he's coming from so that he knows where he will be going. She might be able to help him become more than that but what if it undoes him in the process? Changes him into someone else?" But a higher frequency glow then and he moved towards Sylin. "Planning to inform Lycear?"
If he hadn't only had one single assumption on his mind when his uncle had literally torn him down from the sky to save him, he would have asked more questions. He would have gotten more answers and he would have been able to warn Jae about the squid creature, if not saving her from it altogether. Sylin was wrong, he wasn't ready. But feeling the squeeze on his arm, he glanced back down at Jae and then her bandaged wounds as well just in case. "Alright. But it's not safe to move yet, you'll bleed out more." Thus he merely stepped a bit closer to her so that she could rest against his side for now if she needed to. Blood loss caused light-headedness more often than not. But he wasn't fully appeased yet and still frowning, turned his attention back to his uncle. "Why are you following us?"

Hunter smirked lightly.
"rum is behind the bar, where it always is. bottles of it for your enjoyment. grab as much as you want. not a problem from me."
before getting himself up and going topside, and taking the helm and looking over at Des.
"You alright to move? or at least shift forms and take a nap?"
Des got herself up a bit, and a cloud of greenish gas later, was sitting on the deck against the railing and holding her head.
"Oh yes, I'm fine. be nice to relax a bit."
before laying down on the deck and putting her arm over her eyes and laying there. Oh her head hurt. and she was dizzy anyway.

"I don't trust you and I'm on your ship." And that pretty much sealed it for him, didn't it? Hunter was paranoid in his opinion. Had been with Des as well which was the only reason why she was locked away. That and he'd taken great enjoyment out of seeing her suffer as much as he had. Shaking his head, he fiddled with his spoon once again then stood up and retrieved a bottle, plunking it down in front of Gem. "Wish granted."
Nodding, she glanced between the two and frowned again. They were still in Rider territory and she didn't want them coming after Sky. "I'm not sure. We're still in the area that could be very dangerous for you and I don't want anything to happen to you. Why don't you stay down here with me for a little bit longer and then once we're out of the danger zone you can go up and fly around and everything else. Okay? Let's get you some food."
Areesa moved a bit nervously. "Changing isn't always good... But if it does go bad, what can we do?" She didn't want to see Kaz and Jae get hurt out of this anymore than her mistress did but there were just some things that were unpredictable. Things happened and plans generally helped with the reactions. "Well, she can't lie to him, Xekey. And he's gonna sense something with the way she says stuff. And you say I'm hard to understand."
No poison. That was certainly good news. Not having the squid to study or keep was not nearly as much. "It actually feeds off the dragon's flesh?" Interesting. Very interesting. "Does it do the same with humans or elves?" Because somehow that pirate had gotten ahold of not one but two. She felt better knowing that the amulet would indeed do it's job and Jae would be restored to full strength in no time and healed in far less than it would take naturally.

"Maybe he needs to hit Bottom and become Undone in order to get Better. I have been with his Father and watched him deal with teh Loss. You have watched Son of Lycear. Your Advice I do not throw to the Wind but also you are Bias to want to Protect him as well. You also need to Find Balance if you wish to Help him Grow. That is all we can do if we Ourselves with to get Involved." Blinking lightly, the little cluster of light balls mixing some interesting colors. "I wish to tell Lycear, but at the Same Time I am Hesitant to. He Worries for his Son, may moreso if he Knows This."
"You're in my territory and there are things out here far worse than the normals. As purely demonstrated earlier. Riders, pirates, creatures that are better not tangled with. The salt beds are harsh as well as the outskirts to them. Creatures lay and wait the fringes looking for those fleeing the salts. Wouldn't it only be right of me to make sure you get through my space without too much trouble and even more so because you're family?" Nodding then to the Laerethe. "Yes, it does. And from what I've seen yes it does. It's a predetor and that's all there is to it."
She merely nodded to him and indeed leaned into him as he moved closer, but was behaving herself to stay more or less still until he was convinced her body had calmed itself enough for her to be safe to move and what not. Let the others handle things for now and she could wallow on the inside over things.
She grabbed the bottle and uncorked it, drinking straight from the bottle. "Thank the sands for rum. Only thing that can comfort a has been captain." SHaking her head and tending to that bottle again. Oh she was a wreck and probably would be more so later.
She seemed to pout at the answer and huffed a little before a noise that clearly said she wasn't happy. "Soon, yes?" Because she was feeling cramped in here and she wanted the open air and the breeze against her body. "More than meat this time?" Because she had noticed that the others were eating more than just meat and she was now curious to that.
"Do me a favor and headcount for me while you're taking her? I'm not sure how many people are on this boat now and that unsettles me."

"We're probably already more involved that you think. Bell knows of our thoughts now, which is only making her more aware of her own feelings. But yes, I am bias. Everyone is bias. Especially Areesa, since she's craving baby dragon playmates." A quick, almost whimsical zip through the yellow light to punctuate that. "Lycear knows the power of a bond. Especially out here in the open sands. He knows the strengthening connective power it has and he's experienced its power to destroy. Both will worry him."
His hand rested idly on Jae's shoulder as golden eyes appraised his uncle again. "You've made it clear before. You choose to live out here because it serves your purpose. It gives you the freedom of identity and allows you to distance yourself from the excessive rules and codes of Ilindal, so you've said. Someone who is a loner wouldn't value family because all they see is themself." But he thought about the new information for a moment then, curious gaze turning back to Eilynne. "If Fang possesses such a dangerous and elusive weapon, he probably won't hesitate to use them against again next time we meet. Do you think breeding such creatures is possible for him to do?" He couldn't remember if he'd heard the Laerethe ask questions before, mostly they just gave answers... If Eilynne was even more intrigued than he was about the squid thing, then it must be important and they really should try to find one for studying.

"Dragonlings are Lovely creatures. I share Areesa's Sentimients on Them." Giving a few flicks of color as if it was more or less amused or pleased about something. "But the Bond is not Complete, yes? Means it will Fade...I believe the true Test will be if the Feelings Remain when the Scent starts to wear off. Lycear...would be Happy his Son feels such things through Marking, but worried the boy may Never Know the True value of such a Thing if he uses it for Tactical purposes."
He frowned down at the younger dragon. "Perhaps I choose to honor what memory I have of my sister by making sure her son survives these harsh lands he was never meant to be in. Forgive me if that doesn't fit with your profiles and defies your logic of what 'selfish' is." Giving a snuff of breath through his nose and a flick of his tail. Eyes watched the three before him...hm, troublesome.

She gave a giggle as Xeke was teasing her and they all knew it and bounced again, much happier now. I don't think they'll fail. Bellah and Kazzy liked each other before but Kazzy's silly. Xeke's gonna help him not be silly anymore, aren't ya?" Bouncing again, "I think we should tell Lycear when something sure happens. If they stay fluffy and move towards really fluffy, then and only then. If the fluffy fades then Lycear never has to know."
Savvy got a nod, "Of course. I'll have the number in a bit." Back to Sky. "Sure, Sky. Whatever you want." Taking her and gently leading her through a few doorways before coming to the dining area and gesturing to the cook. "Do you know what you want? Some bread perhaps? Or some vegetables in a stew?" If he didn't make it for her, Shyrae could.
Eilynne was not pleased with the information she'd been given and she wondered just when this creature had been introduced into the plane she was on and by whom. It had not been here when her kind had given the Gift or they would have certainly known about it. "I wish to find one. Is there a method for catching them that will not allow the creature to consume?" She needed a creature like that in her inventory.

"Yes... because curing silliness, a true symptom of illness, is exactly what buttheads like me do best. If the mutual care and concern remains after the mark fades, then there is potential. If not, then everyone is just setting themselves up for disappointment." A low hum, ponderously. "More importantly, I think Lycear should know about what just happened. With Fang and the Riders. Another thing though, Sylin, you haven't mentioned a word about Ilindal. How fares it?"
An equally hard stare in return, neck already tensing naturally as his mother was mentioned again. His uncle blamed him for her death, at least partially, and now he was going to lengths to protect him. It didn't make sense. Was he planning on following them until they found all the shards and made their way back to Ilindal? Unlikely. But a glance to Eilynne again and he was pleased that his suspicions had been mostly correct. It would be fascinating research that was for sure, a parasitic creature, seemingly simplistic in anatomy but possessed such power. Thus he was lost in thought for a moment before he turned eyes back down to Jae and checked her bandages again, even if it could have only been an hour at most since he'd applied them. "How are you feeling?"

"Well...at least You make good Use of your Title." Sylin wasn't above joking or anything, it just had a tendency to be more serious and cryptic when it wanted to be. A bit of humming on it's part before it bobbed once as if nodding it's head. "It is Decided then. I will let Lycear know about teh Battle, but stay my Words on the Marking...for the Time Being at least." Blipping a few times in light levels then. "Recent earthquake Shook it so Hard, the Tower was brought Down. Rather than try and Rebuild Till Next Time, Lycear has ordered rubble Cleared and set up Encampments for the dwellers."
"Find one? Well if you want to find one...you can sit in the salt beds or farther out sands for days on end and hope for the best. They're sand goers and come up for prey and such. Only way to catch them is to be the bait or find someone who has hold them already." Like Fang. But hey that wasn't his concern and it was worrisome that Fang did have such things in his arsenal. He'd have to watch closer. But his attention focused on his ever untrustful nephew. "I suggest you leave well enough alone, dock, get repaired and move out." For the moment he knew he could rest easy on worrying about them finding more shards. They had bigger problems.
She wasn't particularly listening, more or less just leaning her head against Kaznec as she rested there on the deck, feeling that uncomfortable sensation of pain from her wounds as well as fatigue. It was never a fun thing to experience such things. But amber eyes turned up to his own gold ones as his voice floated to her ears and he was checking bandages. "Just weak moreso than anything. I have a high pain tolerance. Are you doing okay?" Again with the worry.
Sky followed, leaving the grumpy other elf behind and following the more pleasant one as she always loved to do. Though she did stop at the stairs that lead up to the deck, giving a few sniffs to the air before following again to the galley. "Bread and vegetables." Not because that's what she wanted, but because that's what she was repeating and knew it wasn't meat. Might as well try.
